Socialism - Liberalism Quotation
"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened." – Norman Thomas
Senator Jim Inhofe is calling for an investigation into the ClimateGate CRU fradulent warming data, and the U.N.'s chairman of the IPCC, Rajendra Pachauri dismisses the "few" scientists who might have shamed themselves by discussing their purposefully fraudulent data entry.
Rajendra Pachauri
The U.N. says ho-hum, these emails, discussing the fraud committed by the very scientists considered the primary climate change gurus, mean nothing. The direct quote from the UN chairman of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), Rajendra Pachauri:
"There is "virtually no possibility" of a few scientists biasing the advice given to governments by the UN's top global warming body, its chair said today."
That sounds like a good story line until you realize that there are only a "few" scientists giving "advice" to the UN body. There are only about four to six at the top. Everyone else based their theories on the research done by these few at the top.
Mr. Pachauri also said "western lifestyle is unsustainable," and you'll love this:
Hotel guests should have their electricity monitored; hefty aviation
taxes should be introduced to deter people from flying; and iced water
in restaurants should be curtailed, the world's leading climate
scientist has told the Observer.
Pachauri, the Chairman of the IPCC, is calling for "sustainable consumption." I'd love to know a bit about his lifestyle - about the home he lives in, the car he drives. Here's some more:
Pachauri also proposed that governments use taxes on aviation to
provide heavy subsidies for other forms of transport. "We should make
sure there is a huge difference between the cost of flying and taking
the train," he said. Despite the fact that there is often little
benefit in time and convenience in short-haul flights, he said people
were still making the "irrational" choice to fly. Taxation should be
used to discourage them.
Pachauri caused controversy last year by advocating, in an interview with the Observer, because of the levels of carbon emissions associated with rearing livestock. He is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the opening session of the Copenhagen summit.
He said that he also believed car use would have to be "curbed": "I
think we can certainly use pricing to regulate the use of private
vehicles." ...
Pachauri also denounced the practice in some restaurants of providing
iced water to customers who had not ordered it. "It is just an enormous
amount of waste that we don't even think about," he said.
If you take Pachauri's comments lightly, think again and get busy finding out the real mission behind his words. You'll find them in the U.N. Millennium Development Goal (MDG). Here are a few nuggets from this ambitious document that will lead to the take-over of the world:
...Poverty
eradication is not an automatic consequence of economic growth; it
requires purposeful action to redistribute wealth and land,...
1) Abolishing war through a worldwide freeze on militaries and achieving global disarmament:"
To initiate a worldwide freeze on armed forces
...the prohibition of the use of force,...must not be undermined
To explore the feasibility of a legally binding convention on overcoming poverty,...To carry out the objective of moving towards the abolition of war by practical means,...the
United Nations Secretariat and interested Governments, or a separate
group of Governments, should develop a draft proposal for global disarmament
2) Prohibiting advanced weapons technology
...devise ways of stopping
the technological development of new and more advanced weapons that
create new imbalances in global power relationships.
3) Monitoring small arms
4) Controlling the world's immigration to allow for:
...the global principle of freedom of circulation for all
5) Controlling the world's finances:
...To move towards democratic political control of the global economy so that it may serve our vision.
...Sustainable funds could be raised through a currency transfer tax...and a tax on the rental value of land and natural resources.
6) Controlling the world:
Globalization needs defining [and then they define it]....it is transforming our world into a global village...
7) Prohibiting "sanctions" against rogue countries:
...Stop imposing economic sanctions...
8) Controlling conservation through a global tax:
...establish a global habitat conservation fund to purchase comprehensive protection of threatened, critical ecological habitat worldwide. The fund should accrue
revenues from a nominal (0.5 -1.0 per cent) royalty on worldwide fossil
energy production oil, natural gas, coal, collecting at least $5
billion to $10 billion annually.
A not-to-be missed portion of the U.N. Millennium Development Goal is the oft-used word "transnationalism," which buys right into Rajendra Pachauri's desire to control your life.
In short, the U.N. defines transnationalism as a type of globalization
that is, this minute, turning the world into a "global village." That
"global village" will give back control of "peace, equity, social justice,
democracy and human rights," to the people. The U.N.'s vision of
globalization is one that makes all industry, throughout the world
"work for the benefit of everyone to eradicate poverty and hunger
globally..."
The U.N. MDG says this:
This can happen only if global corporations, international financial and trade institutions and Governments are subject to effective democratic control by the people..."
Its application is an affront to due process and the rule of law in
this country. It would criminalize internal U.S. policymaking
deliberations, with profound implications for U.S. sovereignty. If
allowed to run its course, this prosecution would have a profoundly
chilling effect on the willingness of subordinates to provide a
president with advice or perhaps even to serve in government.
If the discussion of the U.N. Millennium Development Goal seems off topic. I wish it was, but in truth this the what the U.N. is striving for, and the IPCC is a part of that goal.
I need a minute to rant here about those trying to defend Phil Jones and his friends at the top by pointing out that the ClimateGate emails were obtained illegally. No, the U.N. is the United Nations, and the U.S. pours the funds into this disgusting organization. All the work has been done through grants - whether I or you, liked it or not, they have received U.S. taxpayer monies. Forgetting that the emails were likely obtained by an insider-whistleblower, there is nothing criminal about obtaining information that CRU would not release because it knew it was straight up fraud.
So, I wish Senator Inhofe well with his investigation. It needs to be done, but I doubt that we will hear the Democrat congress admonish the U.N.'s IPCC - or step away from Copenhagen permanently. Every Democrat is already bought and sold, as well as a few Republicans.

If your wife takes a golf club to your car and, maybe even to you personally, but you praise her for her courageous actions in saving your life - and you have no intention of filing charges against her, can police actually search your home and demand your medical records in the hopes of charging someone with domestic violence? It appears this is what is happening in Florida to Tiger and Elin Woods. Update 12-02-09 - Tiger's Transgressions - 3 Years Unfaithful? - see below. Oops - another unbelievable update below 12-03-09.
Tiger and Elin Woods
I have been a real Tiger fan, but if the rumors of an affair are true, I'll have to move on. I have a real problem with his penchant to chuck a club in a fit of angernow and then. Philandering will kill my admiration of his competitive spirit and, usually, brilliant play. Golfers are a cut above. Low-lifes have no place in prime-time golf.
Nevertheless, unless Tiger wants to file charges, or unless Elin plans to file against Tiger, what business do the police have issuing search warrants?
TMZ is on Greta's On the Record: About Rachel Uchitel, TMZ says that
Elin Woods actually spoke on the phone with Rache Uchitel after she
grabbed the phone out of Tiger's hand, just before Tiger strode out of
the house and wrecked the Escalade. According to TMZ, there is damage
inside the Woods "vestibule."
TMZ says that Tiger and Rachel Uchitel talked on the telephone last night - Wednesday December 2nd.
Also saying that other women are coming out of the woodwork - and who knows if their stories are true.
Five British sailors from The Team Pindar vessel are being held hostage by Iran. The story is, their racing yacht may have strayed into hostile Iranian waters. Two of the crew members names have been released at this time: allegedly held are Dave Bloomer and Oil Smith.
Team Pindar
Dave Bloomer
The yacht, owned by Sail Bahrain and crewed by five British sailors was captured on November 25th. Team Pindar was on their way to the Dubai-Muscat Offshore Sailing Race. The yacht, dubbed the Kingdom of Bahrain - fully equipped with a satellite tracker, should have arrived in Dubai on November 26th for the vessel's first offshore race.
Bahrain - Iran - Dubai
Iran announced ten new nuclear enrichment facilities to be built in the near future. The country is also holding three young Americans in the terrifying Evin Prison in Tehran. The three supposedly strayed across a border separating Iraq and Iran last summer. Now we have five Brits held hostage, bringing back memories of the March 2007 Royal Marines who were captured and held by Iran for twelve days - again for straying into Iranian waters. Since the Kingdom of Bahrain is owned by Muslims, perhaps this British crew will have a bit more luck than the Americans.
Marc Sheppard writing for American Thinker freezes-in-time the CRU warming source code. Here's a pullout quote that you and I can understand:
But here's what’s
undeniable: If a divergence exists between measured temperatures and
those derived from dendrochronological data after (circa) 1960, then
discarding only the post-1960 figures is disingenuous, to say the
least. The very existence of a divergence betrays a potential serious
flaw in the process by which temperatures are reconstructed from
tree-ring density. If it's bogus beyond a set threshold, then any
honest man of science would instinctively question its integrity prior
to that boundary. And only the lowliest would apply a hack in order to
produce a desired result.
And
to do so without declaring as such in a footnote on every chart in
every report in every study in every book in every classroom on every
website that such a corrupt process is relied upon is not just a crime
against science, it’s a crime against mankind.
Bottom line: CRU's evidence is
now irrevocably tainted. As such, all assumptions based on that
evidence must now be reevaluated and readjudicated. And all policy
based on those counterfeit assumptions must also be reexamined.
Al Gore Fudge Factor
The following is part of Sheppard's reveal of the CRU source code. Go to American Thinker to read his dialogue before and after the following:
One can only imagine
the angst suffered daily by the co-conspirators, who knew full well
that the "Documents" sub-folder of the CRU FOI2009 file contained more
than enough probative program source code to unmask CRU's phantom
methodology.
In
fact, there are hundreds of IDL and FORTRAN source files buried in
dozens of subordinate sub-folders. And many do properly analyze and
chart maximum latewood density (MXD), the growth parameter commonly
utilized by CRU scientists as a temperature proxy, from raw or
legitimately normalized data. Ah, but many do so much more.
Skimming through the often
spaghetti-like code, the number of programs which subject the data to a
mixed-bag of transformative and filtering routines is simply
staggering. Granted, many of these "alterations" run from benign
smoothing algorithms (e.g., omitting rogue outliers) to moderate
infilling mechanisms (e.g., estimating missing station data from that
of those closely surrounding). But many others fall into the precarious
range between highly questionable (removing MXD data which demonstrate
poor correlations with local temperature) to downright fraudulent
(replacing MXD data entirely with measured data to reverse a disorderly
trend-line).
In fact, workarounds for the post-1960 "divergence problem," as described by both RealClimate and Climate Audit,
can be found throughout the source code. So much so that perhaps the
most ubiquitous programmer's comment (REM) I ran across warns that the
particular module "Uses 'corrected' MXD - but shouldn't usually
plot past 1960 because these will be artificially adjusted to look
closer to the real temperatures."
What exactly is meant by
"corrected” MXD," you ask? Outstanding question -- and the answer
appears amorphous from program to program. Indeed, while some employ
one or two of the aforementioned "corrections," others throw everything
but the kitchen sink at the raw data prior to output.
For instance, in the subfolder "osborn-tree6\mann\oldprog," there’s a program (Calibrate_mxd.pro)
that calibrates the MXD data against available local instrumental
summer (growing season) temperatures between 1911-1990, then merges
that data into a new file. That file is then digested and further
modified by another program (Pl_calibmxd1.pro), which creates calibration statistics for the MXD against the stored temperature and "estimates"
(infills) figures where such temperature readings were not available.
The file created by that program is modified once again by Pl_Decline.pro, which "corrects it" – as described by the author -- by "identifying" and "artificially" removing "the decline."
But oddly enough, the series doesn’t begin its "decline adjustment" in 1960 -- the supposed year of the enigmatic "divergence."In fact, all data between 1930 and 1994 are subject to "correction."
And such games are by no means unique to the folder attributed to Michael Mann.
A Clear and Present Rearranger
In two other programs, briffa_Sep98_d.pro and briffa_Sep98_e.pro, the "correction" is bolder by far. The programmer (Keith Briffa?) entitled the "adjustment" routine “Apply a VERY ARTIFICAL correction for decline!!”
And he or she wasn't kidding. Now IDL is not a native language of mine,
but its syntax is similar enough to others I'm familiar with, so please
bear with me while I get a tad techie on you.
Here's the "fudge factor" (notice the brash SOB actually called it that in his REM statement):
These two lines of code
establish a twenty-element array (yrloc) comprising the year 1400 (base
year, but not sure why needed here) and nineteen years between 1904 and
1994 in half-decade increments. Then the corresponding "fudge factor"
(from the valadj matrix) is applied to each interval. As you can see,
not only are temperatures biased to the upside later in the century
(though certainly prior to 1960), but a few mid-century intervals are
being biased slightly lower. That, coupled with the post-1930
restatement we encountered earlier, would imply that in addition to an
embarrassing false decline experienced with their MXD after 1960 (or
earlier), CRU's "divergence problem" also includes a minor false incline after 1930.
And
the former apparently wasn't a particularly well-guarded secret,
although the actual adjustment period remained buried beneath the
surface.
Plotting programs such as data4alps.pro print this reminder to the user prior to rendering the chart:
IMPORTANT NOTE: The
data after 1960 should not be used. The tree-ring density records tend
to show a decline after 1960 relative to the summer temperature in many
high-latitude locations. In this data set this "decline" has been
artificially removed in an ad-hoc way, and this means that data after
1960 no longer represent tree-ring density variations, but have been
modified to look more like the observed temperatures.
Others, such as mxdgrid2ascii.pro, issue this warning:
NOTE:
recent decline in tree-ring density has been ARTIFICIALLY REMOVED to
facilitate calibration. THEREFORE, post-1960 values will be much closer
to observed temperatures then (sic) they should be which will
incorrectly imply the reconstruction is more skilful than it actually is. See Osborn et al. (2004)
Care to offer another explanation, Dr. Jones?...

A Wall Street Journal report says President Obama is against building the ranks of the Afghan police to the levels suggested by General McChrystal.
The president has a realistic view of how successful the training
regimen can be, and that has helped inform his decision," a senior
administration official said Sunday.
U.S. Troops and Afghan Police
If this report is true, we can see this as nothing other than handing the country to the Taliban. If we doubt that Afghanistan can have a "successful training regimen" to protect their own country, why are we there?
Mr. Obama is expected to outline broad performance goals for the
Afghan government, including improvements in tackling corruption and
taking control of security.
The U.S. military police in Kandahar say progress takes time and can
be hard to measure. U.S. troops say some Afghan patrolmen seem honest
and competent; others fear Taliban assassination and rarely venture out
of their stations at night without a coalition escort.
"They have their good days and they have their bad days, said 2nd
Lt. Danielle Champagne, a 24-year-old from Houma, La., and leader of
Black Sheep -- 1st Platoon of the 293rd Military Police Co., the only
regular U.S. force based inside Kandahar.
Inside one police outpost, Lt. Col. Abdul Qader, the Afghan station
commander, said he hopes Mr. Obama uses the moment to force a crackdown
on Afghan public corruption. "The police always arrest the Taliban, but
when they go to court, they pay a bribe and get released," Col. Qader
said.
In the bleak war assessment that he delivered to Mr. Obama earlier
this year, Gen. McChrystal called for expanding the Afghan army to
240,000 and the Afghan police to 160,000, roughly twice the size of
their current growth plans. The proposal initially found support within
the administration, where senior officials have talked openly about
wanting to quickly transfer security responsibility to Afghan forces.
But as the months-long administration strategy review has worn on,
Vice President Joe Biden and other senior administration officials have
become skeptical that the Afghan central government could retain, train
and support so large a force, even with considerable Western support.
For U.S. forces in Afghanistan, meanwhile, the expected troop surge
can't come fast enough. "We could use as many troops as possible," said
Staff Sgt. Jeff Schaffer, a 25-year-old Black Sheep squad leader. "It's
ridiculous to think you can tame a city like this with as few people as
we have."
This is the opposite strategy of the very successful Iraq surge, which cleared and held, and trained.
Maurice Clemmons, an ex-con, is a person of interest in today's murders of four Lakewood police in Tacoma, Washington. Clemmons has an long criminal history and is believed to have been in the area where the shootings occurred. Clemmons was recently arrested and charged for assaulting a police officer in Washington state, as well as second-degree rape of a child. Unbelievably, the man was allowed to post a $150,000 bail. See Update 11-30-019:40 a.m. CDT. 11:00 a.m. - University of Washington being searched. Update 12-01-09: Clemmons is dead. Details below.
Maurice Clemmons
Clemmons, recently residing in Tacoma, Washington, is a violent man with a long criminal history in Arkansas, where then-Governor Mike Huckabee once communted a lengthy prison sentence.
In 1989, Clemmons, then 17, was convicted in
Little Rock for aggravated robbery. He was paroled in 2000 after
Huckabee commuted Clemmons' 95-year prison sentence. Huckabee, who was
criticized during his run for the Republican presidential nomination in
2008 for granting many clemencies and commutations, cited Clemmons'
youth. Clemmons later violated his parole, was returned to prison and
released in 2004.
Larry Jegley, the prosecuting attorney for Arkansas' Pulaski Country said he had been dreading this day. This from the Seattle Times:
Clemmons' criminal history includes at least five felony convictions in
Arkansas and at least eight felony charges in Washington. The record
also stands out for the number of times he has been released from
custody despite questions about the danger he posed.
Clemmons had been in jail in Pierce County for the past several
months on a pending charge of second-degree rape of a child. He was
released from custody just six days ago, even though was staring at
seven additional felony charges in Washington state.
Clemmons posted $15,000 with a Chehalis company called Jail Sucks
Bail Bonds. The bondsman, in turn, put up $150,000, securing Clemmons'
release on the pending child-rape charge.
Clemmons lives in Tacoma, where he has run a landscaping and
power-washing business out of his house, according to a police
interview with his wife earlier this year.
He was married, but the relationship was tumultuous, with accounts
of his unpredictable behavior leading to at least two confrontations
with police earlier this year.
During the confrontation in May, Clemmons punched a sheriff's deputy
in the face, according to court records. As part of that incident, he
was charged with seven counts of assault and malicious mischief.
In another instance, Clemmons was accused of gathering his wife and
young relatives around at 3 or 4 in the morning and having them all
undress. He told them that families need to "be naked for at least 5
minutes on Sunday," a Pierce County sheriff's report says.
"The whole time Clemmons kept saying things like trust him, the
world is going to end soon, and that he was Jesus," the report says.
As part of the child-rape investigation, the sheriff's office
interviewed Clemmons' sister in May. She told them that "Maurice is not
in his right mind and did not know how he could react when contacted by
Law Enforcement," a sheriff's report says.
"She stated that he was saying that the secret service was coming to
get him because he had written a letter to the President. She stated
his behavior has become unpredictable and erratic. She suspects he is
having a mental breakdown," the report says.
Deputies also interviewed other family members. They reported that
Clemmons had been saying he could fly and that he expected President
Obama to visit to "confirm that he is Messiah in the flesh."
Prosecutors in Pierce County were sufficiently concerned about
Clemmons' mental health that they asked to have him evaluated at
Western State Hospital. Earlier this month, on Nov. 6, a psychologist
concluded that Clemmons was competent to stand trial on the child-rape
and other felony charges, according to court records.
Clemmons moved Washington in 2004, after being released from prison
in Arkansas, state Department of Corrections records indicate. That
would mean he had gone five years or so before landing in serious
trouble with authorities here, according to a review of his criminal
record.
Clemmons started Sea-Wash Pressure Washing Landscaping with his
wife, Nicole Smith, in October 2005. The license for the business
expired last month.
Update 11-30-01 9:40 a.m.:
The Seattle Times led with a SWAT team surrounding a house in the Leschi home in Seattle last night, and a woman saying that Clemmons was on the property and bleeding. The article went on with no other explanation.
However, the UK's TimesOnline is quoting police saying, just one hour ago that Clemmons has been shot and "well might be dead." A house is surrounded and they believe Clemmons is holed-up inside.
But as I write this, FOX is saying they thought they had him cornered and trapped inside his Aunt's house, but now they say he is not inside the house. He has a gunshot wound to his abdomen, and he is armed. Police say they know he was inside the house, but he is not there now.
Update 11-30-09 11:00 a.m. CDT:
There is evidence that Clemmons got off of a bus at the University of Washington. UW is being searched this moment and is under alert.
Update 12-01-09:
A police officer stopped a stolen car in Rainier Valley in south Seattle, and shot and killed Maurice Clemmons. About 2:45 a.m. this morning, on South Kenyon Street, an unidentified, lone officer, said Clemmons was returning to the stolen vehicle as the police officer was checking it. The hood was up and the motor was running. The policeman recognized Clemmon, ordered him to stop and show his hands. Clemmons did not follow the orders and began to run away. The officer fired.
Three associates of Clemmons have been arrested and up to seven others
could be arrested for helping the suspect make his way from the
Lakewood/Parkland area to Seattle, according to Pierce County sheriff's
spokesperson Ed Troyer. The associates provided shelter, transit, cell
phones and other assistance to Clemmons, Troyer says. Now, "They're
going to pay for it," he adds.
Current law prohibits the community organization ACORN and its associated groups from receiving any federal funds from any federal law currently on the books, (P.L 111-68 Sec. 163). However, the Eric Holder Justice Department has interpreted the law's phraseology in such a way that permits federal agencies to pay ACORN for "binding contractual obligations" the government made before the current prohibition was enacted.
This interpretation may go a long way toward effectively neutralizing ACORN's funding prohibition, and it is a questionable interpretation at best.
The actual ban reads as follows:
None of the funds made available from this joint resolution or any other prior Act may be provided to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now
(ACORN), or any of its affiliates, subsidiaries or allied organizations.
(Emphasis added.) The Justice Department has decided that the phrase "provided to" is unclear and "has no established meaning in appropriations law." They cite terms more frequently used, such as "obligate" and "expend," that have widely accepted meaning in spending legislation. They go on to arduously defend their point by exhaustively listing the many definitions of "provide" given in Websters, Oxford and American Heritage dictionaries and even Roget's Thesaurus. Like Bill Clinton, they probably could have found as many definitions for the word "is..."

The Council on America Islamic Relations (CAIR) has sent an open letter to Barack Obama urging him to address U.S. abuses against two Afghans in his Tuesday night prime time speech delivered from West Point.
Bagram Air Base
The Washington Post says that two teenagers alleged the abuse happened at Bagram Air Base, and while their reports have remained consistent, they cannot be "independently substantiated." The tentative suggestion is that abuse has now happened on Obama's watch.
Colonel John Garrity, a commander at Bagram at the time said "I want to be clear that there is no harsh treatment at all."
I won't repeat what is in the report, but listening to these boys tell their stories, if they are indeed boys, saying that "no one can endure this," should just talk to their sisters and mothers about the definition of ill treatment - and what it takes for a woman to live out life in that harsh Muslim country.
With the release of thousands of emails and documents that seem to show that climate change and global warming data has been manipulated to prove that "warming" exists, we see that the "warmist" theories have been brought about by just a very few men who are now known to be liars and cheats.
Phil Jones
Phil Jones is the chief liar and cheat. He is joined by a small bevy of elite alarmists. He instructed others to delete critical data to avoid the Freedom of Information Act requests, and explored other ways to keep his flawed research secret. Jones was in the driver's seat as this small group tried to "lower temperatures and "adjust" recent temperatures upwards."
Jones is in charge of the key data furnished to the UN's IPCC (Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change) - and determines the data used for the report. Jones is the director of Hadley's Climate Research Unit (CRU) and Hadley (Phil Jones) "selects most of the IPCC's key scientific contributors."
...his global temperature record is the most
important of the four sets of temperature data on which the IPCC and
governments rely – not least for their predictions that the world will warm
to catastrophic levels unless trillions of dollars are spent to avert it.
Jones was instrumental in getting the world to accept Michael Mann's theory that there was no global warming in the Medieval period. This theory, believed to have been proven through Mann's now debunked "hockey stick" graph, and the 2001 IPCC report even supported no evidence of "a Medieval Warm Period." Because of Phil Jones and Michael Mann, the world's climate alarmists, even at the level of the UN, revised known history and even claimed that Earth may have been "slightly cooler" during that period.
Without Professor Jones' support, Mann's theory would have likely been ignored.
Dr Jones is also a key part of the closely knit group of American and British
scientists responsible for promoting that picture of world temperatures
conveyed by Michael Mann's "hockey stick" graph which 10 years ago
turned climate history on its head by showing that, after 1,000 years of
decline, global temperatures have recently shot up to their highest level in
recorded history.
Given star billing by the IPCC, not least for the way it appeared to eliminate
the long-accepted Mediaeval Warm Period when temperatures were higher they
are today, the graph became the central icon of the entire man-made global
warming movement.
Steven McIntyre, a Canadian statistician, through his blog ClimateAudit, began questioning Mann's methodology and found it "fundamentally flawed." Jones and Mann have waged a war against McIntyre and taken pained steps to keep him from receiving documents through the FOI:
Mann's supporters, calling themselves "the Hockey Team",
and McIntyre and his own allies, as they have ever more devastatingly called
into question the entire statistical basis on which the IPCC and CRU
construct their case.
Back in 2006, when the eminent US statistician Professor Edward Wegman
produced an expert report for the US Congress vindicating Steve McIntyre's
demolition of the "hockey stick", he excoriated the way in which
this same "tightly knit group" of academics seemed only too keen
to collaborate with each other and to "peer review" each other's
papers in order to dominate the findings of those IPCC reports on which much
of the future of the US and world economy may hang.
McIntyre had already humilitated James Hansen, the famous NASA scientist who is also a part of this small group of alarmists:
This is what Mr McIntyre caught Dr Hansen doing with
his GISS temperature record last year (after which Hansen was forced to
revise his record), and two further shocking examples have now come to light
from Australia and New Zealand.
...In each case it is clear that the same trick has been
played – to turn an essentially flat temperature chart into a graph which
shows temperatures steadily rising. And in each case this manipulation was
carried out under the influence of the CRU.
Don't miss the fact that Hansen was forced to revise his records.
With Jones in the lead in global warming fraud, these self-acknowledged and self-appointed scientific warming elitists have managed to keep opposition research from being published.
The third shocking revelation of these documents is the ruthless way in which
these academics have been determined to silence any expert questioning of
the findings they have arrived at by such dubious methods – not just by
refusing to disclose their basic data but by discrediting and freezing out
any scientific journal which dares to publish their critics' work. It seems
they are prepared to stop at nothing to stifle scientific debate in this
way, not least by ensuring that no dissenting research should find its way
into the pages of IPCC reports.
Phil Jones has consistently refused to release the "basis data" used to conclude that Earth is warming, and is warming due to anthropogenic (man-made) causes. Not only did Jones refuse to allow other interested parties to review his work, about a year ago Jones said much of his original data "from all over the world" is now missing. It got "lost." Now we know through the released emails that this sorry bunch has
gathered together to knowingly defraud the world, and used errant and insidiously manipulated data to further their own interests.
If they ever hear there is a Freedom
of Information Act now in the UK, I think I'll delete the file rather than
send it to anyone". By chance, he now admits he has "accidentally"
deleted some of the raw data.
Another message said the CRU's method of collating data "renders the
station counts totally meaningless... so, we can have a proper result, but
only by including a load of garbage!"
What is the esteemed Prof. Jones' saying about his own orchestrated ruse? This is it:
My
colleagues and I accept that some of the published emails do not read well."
The whole world is calling for investigations. Now we need to watch to see who heads the scrutiny. Will it be the fox watching the hen house? Probably.
Back in June I asked why Inspector General Gerald Walpin launched an investigation into former NBA star and current Sacramento, California Mayor, Kevin Johnson. The answer to that question is that Schwarzenegger asked the feds to look into Johnson's non-profit St. Hope Academy, and Walpin got the assignment. Walpin's investigation showed that both Kevin Johnson and AmeriCorp had misused millions in federal funds - and worse, that Johnson was charged with inappropriate behavior by teenagers. The Governor's action was prompted by a report from the Sacramento County Child Protective Services. President Obama has a particular fondness for AmeriCorp and Kevin Johnson. Subsequently, after Walpin submitted his report to Congress, he was fired from his Inspector General position in an unprecedented move by the White House.
Arnold Schwarzenegger
This week, we learned that the IRS filed a federal tax lien against all of Governor Schwarzenegger's properties last May. Could this be payback for Schwarzenegger's involvement in what has turned out to be another enormously embarrassing scandal for this administration? The odd thing about this, is supposedly, Schwarzenegger had received no notices that anything was amiss with this tax filings.
...a copy of a lien document that says it is from the county recorder's
office. That document shows that Schwarzenegger owes $39,047.20 from
2004 and $40,016.80 from 2005. The document also lists a section of the
IRS code that suggests the debt may be penalties for a failure to
report certain business transactions.
The Governor's office says:
No one, including the IRS, has notified the governor of any issues
whatsoever with his taxes," McLear said. "We are contacting the IRS to
determine if the document in question, which appears to be a penalty
for missing info and not for unpaid taxes, is legitimate and if there
is any discrepancy to resolve."
A few hours later, Schwarzenegger's office said they had talked to the IRS and there was a "mix-up."
The issue is completely unrelated to the payment of taxes,"
Schwarzenegger spokesman Aaron McLear said in a statement. "The matter
will be resolved and the lien expunged without any penalty assessed
upon the governor."
An IRS spokesman said whatever document was filed on the Governor would have to speak for itself - the IRS "does not comment on individual cases."
According to a code on the lien -- 6721 -- there were problems with
so-called "information returns" submitted by the governor. Businesses
and individuals are required to file such returns, including W-2s and
1099s, to document any payments made to employees or vendors over a
calendar year.
Jeffrey Kahn, a Bay Area tax attorney consulted by the Mercury News,
said liens filed under that code often involve insufficient reporting
of payroll taxes, which are withheld from employees' paychecks to fund
Social Security, MediCare and unemployment insurance.
Four police officers were killed in what is being called an ambush
in Tacoma, Washington, about 40 miles south of Seattle.
The location of the shooting is said to be on the east side of McChord
Air Force Base. Roads are closed into the area and air space for the
scene has been shut down. Police are calling the murders "a targeted
attack." Update 11-29-09 3:40 p.m. CDT below. Tipline: 866-977-2362. New video below. The dead officers were wearing bulletproof vests. Officers names have been released, and a suspect named - see below.
Forza Coffee at red marker
The killings happened at The Forza Coffee Shop at 11401 Steele St.
South in Tacoma (or Parkland???). What is not clear is a possible connection to McChord Air Force Base. The base is not shut down and is not on alert. MSNBC is reporting
that Forza is "near" McChord. FOX News is
showing the graphic of Forza (above) just outside the eastern border of McChord.
Forza Coffee Shop
Officials at the scene are saying that two men, described as a white
male and a black male, burst into Forza and shot "the four uniformed
officers." The suspects got away. There is a $10,000 reward for any
information leading to the arrest of suspects, according to KOMONews. FOX has given some detail of the black mail as in his 20's, scruffy wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.
"It was just a flat out ambush," Pierce County Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyertold The News Tribune in Tacoma, Wash.
Investigators believe the officers were targeted, and it was not a robbery, Troyer said.
There were other customers in the coffee shop but only the four officers were hit, according to q13Fox.com.
"The four of them are known by everybody here," Troyer said. "We haven't got any information as to why this happened."
The names of the downed officers have not been released. Updates as available.
Update 11-29-09 3:40 p.m. CST:
FOX is reporting that the four officers filled were from the Lakewood Police Department - three men and one woman. The attack happened at 8:15 a.m. today. These officer's deaths are the first since the Lakewood department was established in 2004.
q13fox.com is now reporting one suspect, a black male in either his twenties or thirties, standing between 5'7" and 5"10", with scruffy facial hair, wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. He fled northbound on Steele Street S. towards Highway 512. The possibility of additional suspects has not been ruled out. In the video below you'll hear an officer say that the shooter used a handgun.
A clerk at a nearby store said he saw officers bring a police dog into a nearby apartment complex. According to this report, a white pickup truck in a nearby grocery store parking lot has been tagged "as evidence."
The four officers have been identified and release of their names will happen after next of kin are identified. This report says the four officers made up "one patrol unit, including a sergeant," and all four were wearing bulletproof vests.

Last week over one thousand emails were hacked from the world's foremost climate data gathering institution, the University of East Anglia (UAE), Climate Research Unit (CRU) in Britain. The CRU admitted early on that the emails appear to be genuine, and in the subsequent eight days since, no one is claiming they were fabricated. The emails seem to indicate that climate change data has been manipulated to achieve the desire result of proving global warming. See ClimateGate - Who's Who and Glenn Beck videos below.
Global Warming - Global Cooling?
To get the conversation started, you can find the following data many places, but I chose this TelegraphUK article because the hacked emails come from Britain:
For many years now, human-caused climate change has been viewed as a
large and urgent problem. In truth, however, the biggest part of the
problem is neither environmental nor scientific, but a self-created
political fiasco. Consider the simple fact, drawn from the official
temperature records of the Climate Research Unit at the University of
East Anglia, that for the years 1998-2005 global average temperature
did not increase (there was actually a slight decrease, though not at a
rate that differs significantly from zero)....
n response to these facts, a global warming devotee will chuckle and
say "how silly to judge climate change over such a short period". Yet
in the next breath, the same person will assure you that the
28-year-long period of warming which occurred between 1970 and 1998
constitutes a dangerous (and man-made) warming. Tosh. Our devotee will
also pass by the curious additional facts that a period of similar
warming occurred between 1918 and 1940, well prior to the greatest
phase of world industrialisation, and that cooling occurred between
1940 and 1965, at precisely the time that human emissions were
increasing at their greatest rate.
Does something not strike you as odd here? That industrial carbon
dioxide is not the primary cause of earth's recent decadal-scale
temperature changes doesn't seem at all odd to many thousands of
independent scientists. They have long appreciated - ever since the
early 1990s, when the global warming bandwagon first started to roll
behind the gravy train of the UN Inter-governmental Panel on Climate
Change (IPCC) - that such short-term climate fluctuations are chiefly
of natural origin. Yet the public appears to be largely convinced
otherwise. How is this possible?
On to the hacked emails: Watts Up With That?
was the original blog to release the information about the CRU/UAE
hacking. They have put together a video: ClimateGate Who's Who? You can
see that video below. I have the transcript below of the attached to
each of the climate bullies profiled, or you can watch the video.
This post is designed to put some of the information together in one place, so that I can find it when I need it, and I plan to continue updates as available. For further simplicification, Hadley Climate Research is known as CRU and the University of East Anglia is known as UEA. The problems surrounding global warming or climate change is known as Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) which is the acronym for "an effect or effects resulting from human activity.
Phil Jones
Phil Jones is the director of the CRU. He has admitted that a hacker got into their system and copied "loads of data files and emails..." Andrew Bolt at Australia's HeraldSun believes this is not a hacker, but an insider who is now a whistleblower.
In the video below, ClimateGate Who's Who, provided courtesy of Watts Up With That? the hacked emails included 10 years of emails and data.
*) Professor Phil Jones is a prominent contributor to the UN's Ingergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Report (IPCC).
*) He has published on the temperature record of the past 1,000 years with Michael Mann. He has received over $22 million in grants (13.7 million British pounds) since 1990.
*) [Modified data to hide unwanted results] "I've just completed Mike's Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (i.e. from 1981 onwards) amd from 1961 for Keith's to hide the decline."
*) [Withholding of Data] "The skeptics seem to be building up a head of steam here!...The IPCC comes in for a lot of stick. Leave it to you to delete as appropriate! Cheers Phil."
*) [Withholding of Data] "PS I'm getting hassled by a couple of people to release the CRU state temperature datea. Don't any of you three tell anybody that the UK has a Freedom of Information Act!"
*) [Withholding of Data] When the FOI [Freedom of Information Act] requests began here, the FOI person said we had to abide by the requests. It took a couple of half hour sessions - one at a screen, to convince them otherwise showing them what CA [Climate Audit] was all about.
*) [Deleting data] "If he [Steve McIntyre] pays 10 pounds (which he hasn't yet) I am supposed to go through my emails and he can get anything I've written about him. About 2 months ago I deleted loads of emails, so have very little - if anything at all.
*) [Withholding of data] "If FOIA [Freedom of Information Act] does ever get used by anyone, there is also IPR [Intellectual Property Rights] to consider as well. Data is covered by all the agreements we sign with people, so I will be hiding behind them.
*) [Destroying of emails/evidence] "Mike, can you delete any emails you may have had with Keith re AR4? Keith will do likewise. He's not in a tthe moment - minor family crisis. Can you also email Gene and get him to the same? I don't have his new email address. We will be getting Caspar to do likewise.
*) [Corrupting the peer-review process] "We will keep them out somehow -- even if we have to redifine what the peer-review literature is!"
Mick Kelly
Mick Kelly is a Reader with the Climatic Research Unit CSERGE at the University of East Anglia (UEA) and is considered a leading climate scientist and has been published in Nature, Science, Journal of Climatology, Monthly Weather Review, Journal of Climate and Applied Meteorology, Journal of Geophysical Research, Asia Pacific Journal on Environment and Development, and The World Encyclopedia of Peace. Kelly has had considerable influence on the Climate Research Agenda.
*) [Outside influence on Climate Research Agenda] Discussed with Robert Kleiburg of Shell International the ideal of their funding research in return for "some (limited but genuine) role in setting the research agenda etc."
*) [Outside influence on Climate Research Agenda] Said Shell's interest in setting climate research agenda is not in basic science. Any work they support must have a clear and immediate revelance to 'real-world' activities. They are particularly interested in emissions trading and CDM [Clean Development Mechanism].
*) [Outside influence on Climate Research Agenda] Told Paul Horsman of Greenpeace "The IPCC [Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change] reports and the broader climate negotiations were working to the globalization agenda driven by organizations like the WTO [World Trade Organization]."
*) [Modifying data to hide cooling] "Anyway, I'll maybe cut the last few points off the filtered curve before I give the talk again as that's trending down as a result of the end effects and the recent cold-ish years."
Michael Mann
Michael E. Mann is an Associate Professor at Pennsylvania State University in the Department of Meteorology and Earth and Environmental Systems Institute. Mann is the creator of the "hockey stick" graph reconstructions of millions of years of tree ring data. He is a lead author to the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Report (IPCC).
*) [Withholding of information/data] "I did this knowing that Phil and I are likely to have to respond to more crap criticism from the idiots in the near future, so best to clean up the code and provide to some of my close colleagues in case the want to test it, etc. Please feel free to use this code for your own internal purposes, but don't pass it along where it may get into the hands of the wrong people."
*) [Using a website to control the message, hide dissent] "Anyway, I wanted you guys to know that you're free to use RC [RealClimate.org - A supposed neutral climate change website] Rein any way you think would be helpful. Gavin and I are going to be careful about what comments we screen through, and we'll be very careful to answer any questions that come up to any extent we can."
*) [Using a website to control the message, hide dissent] "On the other hand, you might want to visit the thread and post replies yourself. We can hold comments up in the queue and contact you about whether or not you think they should be screened through or not, and if so, any comments you'd like us to include."
*) [Corrupting the peer-review process] "I think we have to stop considering "Climate Research" as a legitimate peer-reviewed journal. Perhaps we should encourage our colleagues in the climate research community to no longer submit to or cite papers in, this journal."
Tom Wigley
Tom
Wigley is a climate scientist at the University Corporation for
Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado. He is a major contributor to
climate and carbon-cycle models. Wigley has said publicly he believes
IPCC reports are too optimistic.
*) [Wonders "where's the global warming?] "Well I have my own
article on where the heck is global warming? We are asking that here in
Boulder where we have broken records the past two days for the coldest
days on record. We had 4 inches of snow. The high the last 2 days was
below 30F and the normal is 69F, and it smashed the previous
records for these days by 10F. The low was about 18F and also a record
low, well below the previous record low."
*) [Outsting of a skeptic from a professional organization] "Proving bad behavior here is very difficult. If
you think that Saiers is in the greenhouse skeptics camp, then, if we
can find documentary evidence of this, we could go through official AGU
channels to get him outsted."
*) [Discussing getting someone's PhD "re-assessed] "You
may be interesting in this snippet of information about Pat Michaels.
Perhaps the University of Wisconsin ought to open up a public comment
period to decide whether Pat Michaels PhD needs re-assessing?"
*) [Acknowledging the urban effect] "We probably need to say more about this. Land
warming since 1980 has been twice the ocean warming -- and skeptics
might claim that this proves that urban warming is real and important."
*) [Data modification] "So, if we could reduce the ocean blip by, say 0.15 degC, then this would be significant for the global mean -- but we'd still have to explain the land blip."
*) [Data modification] "It would be good to remove at least part of the 1940's blip, but we are still left with "why the blip." Le me go further."
Kevin Trenberth
From Kevin Trenberth, the head of the Climate Analysis Section at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in New Zealand. He is a lead author to the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Report for 1995, 2201 and 2007. Trenberth has made significant contributions to research into El Nino-Southern Oscillation.
*) [Failure of climate models] "How come you do not agree with a statement that says we are no where close to knowing where energy is going or whether clouds are changing to make the planet brightr. We are not close to balancing the energy budget."
*) [Impossibility of geoengineering]"The fact that we can not account for what is happening in the climate system makes any consideration of geoengineering quite hopeless as we will never be able to tell if it is successful or not! It is a travesty!
Thomas R. Karl
Thomas R. Karl is the director of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) National Climatic Data Center (NCDC).
*) [Withholding data]"We should be able to conduct our scientific research ithout constant fear of an "audit" by Steven McIntyre; without having to weigh every word we write in every email we send to our scientific colleagues.
*) [Withholding data] "I am unwilling to submit to this McCarthy-style investigation of my scientific research. As you know, I have refused to send McIntyre the "derived" model data he requests, since all of the primary model data necessary to replicate our results are freely available to him."
*) [Withholding data] "I will continue to refuse such data requests in the future. Nor will I provide McIntyre with computer programs, email correspondence, etc. I feel very strongly about these issues.
James E. Hansen
James E. Hansen is the director of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies. He has contributed to models of the Atmospheres of Venus and Earth. He was arrested in West Virginia for blocking access to a coal mine.
*) His testimony to Congress in 1988 helped raise awareness of global warming.
*) Lawsuit filed against NASA by the Competitive Enterprise Institute
[CEI] requests all emails from him regarding Steve McIntyre calling his
attention to the errors in NASA/GISS online temperature data.
Gavin Schmidt
Gavin Schmidt is a climatologist and climate modeler at the NASA Goddar Institute for Space Studies (GISS) in New York. He has contributed to ocean and climate models, and is a founding member and contributor to the RealClimate website.
*) Lawsuit filed against NASA by the Competitive Enterprise Institute [CEI] accuses him of working on the RealClimate website during NASA working hours.
*) Named by Michael E. Mann as someone who can censor and control posts made to RealClimate website.
National Snow and Ice Data Center
*) In January, 2009 it's reported that the National Snow and Ice Data Center under-reported arctic ice by about 193,000 square miles, an area about the size of California.
*) As of January, 2009 the amount of arctic ice is about equal to the amount of arctic ice in 1979.
The transcript of a recent Glenn Beck show follows, thanks to Noel Sheppard of Newsbusters for it via Watt Up With That?
GLENN BECK, HOST: A potentially major scandal is unfolding after
someone released thousands of e-mails and documents sent between
prominent scientists of global warming debate. The New York Times has
verified that these e-mails are legitimate which wasn’t too hard
because some of them were written by and to one of their reporters.
More on that here in just a second. But first let’s start with the
science that has been so settled for all these years. What do these
guys say behind closed doors about their so-called bullet-proof
consensus? Well, Kevin Trenberth, he’s a climatologist at the National
Center for Atmospheric Research. He wrote, “The fact is we can’t
account for the lack of warming at the moment and it’s a travesty that
we can’t.” Incorrect data? Inadequate systems? Yeah. Travesty, pretty
good word for it.
How about Phil Jones, head of of the Climate Research Unit at the
University of East Anglia, “I have just completed Mike’s nature trick
of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years to
hide the decline.” Yes, he is talking about a trick that another
scientist previously used in a peer reviewed journal to apparently hide
the decline in temperatures. Incredible. But it doesn’t stop there.
How about when scientific journals published material that Jones
didn’t like? Quote “I can’t see either of these papers being in the
next IPCC report…Kevin and I will keep them out somehow — even if we
have to redefine what the peer review literature is” end quote. Think
about that next time you hear about, oh, “the consensus,” and “the
science is settled,” and Al Gore is bragging about the peer reviewed
journals.
Now what happens to a peer reviewed paper when they disagree with
what gets published? Quote “…our only choice is to ignore this paper.
They have already achieved what they wanted.” But at least they are not
intentionally deleting documents or hiding information, right? Oh, no,
they’re doing that, too. Here is Phil Jones writing Michael Mann, the
scientist that came up with that Hockey Stick graph, that one. He said,
“Mike, can you delete any emails you may have had with Keith re: AR4?
Keith will do likewise. He’s not in at the moment – minor family
crisis…Can you also email Gene and get him to do the same? I don’t have
his new email address. We will get Caspar to do likewise.” Count them.
There’s Jones, Mike, Keith, Gene, and Caspar, whoever they are,
potentially deleting e-mails supposedly about supposed science.
So why all the secrecy? Well, we find out from another e-mail from
Michael Mann about skeptic Steven McIntyre. “I’m sure you are aware
that McIntyre and his ilk realize they no longer need to get their crap
published in legitimate journals [you know, the one's they're cycling!
] but all they have to do is put it up on their blog and the contrarian
noise machine kicks into gear. Pretty soon Drudge, Rush Limbaugh, and
Glenn Beck and their ilk are parroting the claims.”
So you see, if McIntyre sees the data, he’ll find the tricks that
are in it to hide the decline, and then crazy people like me might just
let you know about it. Oh, the horror what will happen to cap and
trade? That e-mail was sent from one of the scientists to a New York
Times reporter. That same reporter, Andrew Revkin, thankfully did
report on the story for the New York Times, but he will not post the
documents because, quote “The documents appear to have been acquired
illegally and contain all manner of private information and statements
that were never intended for the public eye, so they won’t be posted
here.” Oh, well, I know, the New York Times would never post or print
anything that wasn’t intended for the public eye, like, maybe, the way
we monitor terrorists or specific strategies to protect our troops in
the field. No, no, the New York Times, they’re above that.
Deleting e-mails, hiding declines, incorrect data, inadequate
systems, redefining scientific peer reviews for their own uses! This is
what appears to be going on behind the scenes and literally trillions
of dollars of policy decisions are being based on what these guys are
telling us. If your gut said, “Wait a minute, this global warming thing
sounds like a scam.” Well, I think you’re seeing it now. We told you
this was going on, without proof, because we listened to our gut. You’d
never believe me, but once again, here we are with yet another brand
new reality. Indeed.
From Pajama's Media's Iain Murray on ClimateGate:
...the science involved is being used to justify the diversion of
literally trillions of dollars of the world’s wealth in order to reduce
greenhouse gas emissions by phasing out fossil fuels. The CRU is the
Pentagon of global warming science, and these documents are its
Pentagon Papers.
Here are three things everyone should know about the Climategate
Papers. Links are provided so that the full context of every quote can
be seen by anyone interested.
Vincent Gray on ClimateGate: 'There was Proof of Fraud all Along"
Nothing about the revelations surprises me. I have maintained email
correspondence with most of these scientists for many years, and I know
several personally. I long ago realized that they were faking the whole
exercise.
When you enter into a debate with any of them, they always stop cold
when you ask an awkward question. This applies even when you write to a
government department or a member of Parliament. I and many of my
friends have grown accustomed to our failure to publish and to lecture,
and to the rejection of our comments submitted prior to every IPCC
report.
But only recently did I realize that I had evidence of their fraud
in my possession almost from the birth of my interest in the subject.
