Peter King Anthony Weiner: The Real Story of the Failure of the James Zadroga Act

Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) showed his backside on the floor of the House and surprise, surprise, the cameras were rolling. The video quickly went viral, but King's comments have gotten nada attention.  Congressman Peter King was the symbolic target of all of Weiner's pent-up Democrat angst wrath. King should be proud to have drawn the worm out of the apple for all the world to see. King was the grown-up and he was telling the awful truth. See two videos below.

 Anthony Weiner and Peter King

Carol at No Sheeples Here produced the King video you'll see below. King speaks just before Weiner meltdowns. King is addressing the poor decision to pass the legislation with a two-thirds vote to avoid a vote on granting benefits to illegals -a fact which is moving around the blogosphere under the radar.

And there is another side of the story. Carol has the campaign contributions from entities with interest in the Trade Towers to...who else but some of the co-sponsors of the failed legislation, and numerous other Democrats. Two of the co-sponsors received multiple thousands and two a tidy sum.

Had the legislation been allowed to pass with a simple majority vote, Republicans would have tried to amend the bill to take out funds going to illegal migrants. Democrats then, either had to vote to exclude them from the bill or keep them in the bill. Either way, not a good option for the Party of Amnesty. Note that in the video, King says Republicans were not included in writing the bill. So the observation is: illegals should have NEVER been included to receive taxpayer's monies.  This makes arrogant Weiner's little act even more fraudulent.

Read Carol's commentary take a look at who is in the money at No Sheeples Here. Nice Deb has a video of New York WOR radio host, Steve Malzberg, concisely explaining exactly why Republicans would not vote for the bill without an option for an amendment, and why Democrats refused to vote if an amendment was introduced.

About Obama on The View

My time on the computer has been short the last few days. If I had written about "Obama on The View," this is what I would have wanted to write, but could not have, because Reaganite Republican has a unique way with words. Read the quintessential "Obama on the View" at The Reaganite Republican.

Peter King Anthony Weiner 9/11 Aid to Firemen and Illegals - It's All About Illegals and Trash in the Bill

Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) threw a fit on the floor of the House last night, and again on Fox News this morning. The issue is a House bill, co-sponsored by Republican Congressman Peter King (R) to provide aid to 9/11 firemen who have been affected by the toxic dust from the World Trade Centers falling. Democrats did not want Republican amendments to his bill - amendments such as a ban on illegal migrants in the area on 9/11 receiving taxpayer money. This whole charade is about support for illegal aliens. See it in the video below.

Peter King and Anthony Weiner

The Liberal House insisted there would be no amendments, in other words, Democrats did not want to be on the record voting no to support illegals :
According to Republicans, the measure would kill jobs, create a "new entitlement" and waste taxpayer dollars.
The measure would reopen the Victims Compensation Fund until 2031. Politico reports that Republicans are calling the extension "well beyond what is needed to take care of latent claims," according to a GOP policy statement.
The bill, according to Republicans, "creates a massive new entitlement program, exposes taxpayers to increased litigation, and is 'paid for' with tax increases and potential job losses."
To be clear, Democrats could have passed the $7.4 billion bill with a simple majority, but they opted for a procedure that allowed no amendments - two-thirds would have to vote for the bill in exactly the form it was originally written, including the trash in the bill. From the New York Times:
Democrats used rules requiring a wider majority for approval to prevent Republicans from offering amendments on the floor that would embarrass Democrats in an election year....
Heading into the vote, Democrats acknowledged it would be difficult to gather enough support to pass the bill under special rules requiring a two-thirds majority.
But Democrats were concerned that a simple majority vote would allow Republicans to propose a controversial amendment that seeks to deny 9/11 health benefits to illegal immigrants.
King said with a short time to the November elections, Democrats do not have the courage to vote on controversial amendments. Republicans want to provide for 9/11-related diseases, but they intend to do it responsibly. I'll point out that the minority has the right to amend bills and then receive a vote.

It is time for Republicans to refuse irresponsible spending, regardless of the good in any bill. That is what they did with this legislation. Take out the trash and present the clean bill. Republicans are refusing to be cowed by shameful tactics like you'll see in the video below. Weiner, the pompous jerk,  is trying to hide the Democrat agenda. He needs to grow up.

Ten Buck Friday Blogs Send their Bucks to Patricia Sullivan Week 6

At 12:01 a.m. RightKlik announced Patricia Sullivan the winner of Ten Buck Fridays Week 6. Patricia is running for the U.S. House for Florida's 8th District. She won the poll with 38% of the vote, with a close second by John Faulk with 33%, vying for the House from Texas' District 18. Patricia hopes to unseat bad-mannered Democrat, Alan Grayson. Update: Sullivan lost the primary race to Republican Daniel Webster.

Patricia Sullivan

Patricia says she is a patriot and not a politician. She founded the North Lake TEA Party and more than a year after the beginning rally, 1,000 or so has continued to show up for North Lake's July 4th get-together. She has been a 4-H leader at both the local and the state levels. She was named 4-H Volunteer of the Year in 2007. She is also a Precept Bible Study leader. If you are not aware of the Precept method of Bible study, it is an in-depth look at a specific Biblical topic. It takes a real commitment to time and devotion to study to successfully complete these insightful studies. From my experience, Precept teachers are impressive individuals.

Read Sullivan on the issues here. She is pro free market and small government. She is a constitutional and fiscal conservative. Patricia is pro-life. She believes in a strong National Defense, secure borders and legal immigration. She believes every family should have the right to choose their children's schools. She is a strong advocate of the Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms, and she believes in the sovereignty of states.

Patricia has lived in Seminole County, Florida since 1973. She and Scott Sullivan have been married for 18 years. They have four children. Sullivan is a long-time homeschooler.

The Patricia Sullivan for Congress website has a very interesting page titled Chain of the Constitution:

“The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with thechains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.”
“In questions of power…let no more be heard of confidence in man,
but bind him down from mischief by the
chains of the Constitution.”– Thomas Jefferson

For every $20.10 contribution to Patricia Sullivan for Congress, we will hammer a steel link on the Chain of the Constitution!

I'm not sure how hammering a steel link works, and it's too late to find out tonight, but the quotations from Jefferson are explanatory. Sullivan is pledging to stop criminality in Washington, D.C. with the U.S. Constitution. I like it!

On Sullivan's donation page, there is a box titled "memo." In that space, please note: donated with Ten Buck Friday Bloggers, or something similar.

  • Fight Back Video Ten Buck Fridays a Powerful Way to Fight Back

The video below reminds us of why we must fight back by doing everything we can to, once a week brown bag our lunch, give up a movie or a couple of Java's and donate to a constitutional conservative, even a small amount, in the weeks leading up to the November 2nd election. See a video below.

If the idea of donating to someone outside of your own state seems strange, think of it this way:  Once upon a time, all politics were local, but today, our fate rests with every conservative candidate across the United States. If Renee Ellmers wins the House seat in North Carolina, that win affects me and my family in Oklahoma. If Chip Cravaack wins for Minnesota's 8th District, that win affects me, or Anna Little in New Jersey's 6th District. They all affect my future and yours, and especially the future of our children. Cravaack, Ellmers and Little believe in the same first principles that I believe in. There is no doubt they will vote in my best interest. That's why I have donated to each of them.

If you need another nudge to give up your Starbucks, think about waking up on November 3rd and finding that we didn't take back enough of the House of Representatives and/or the Senate to make a significant difference. Think about two more years with an unrestrained Barack Obama, and ask yourself if we can recover from the catastrophe of his presidency.

As it turns out, The Ten Buck Fridays are about more than money, although, please keep those ten bucks or more going straight to our poll candidates. We are finding that the Ten Buck Friday bloggers are offering a way for the public to get to know candidates with a lower profile, all of whom are running against some of the most egregious Liberals on Capitol Hill.

We learned today that two of this week's poll leaders have made a wager, and are having fun with Ten Buck Fridays. Patricia Sullivan, running for Florida's 8th District House Seat, and John Faulk running for the U.S. House for Texas' 18 District have decided whichever of the two loses, will wear the other's campaign teeshirt, and put a photo up on the web. The last few hours, Patricia and John have each led the poll. This moment, Sullivan is ahead by about 4 points. The poll ends tonight. Have you voted? Find their websites here.

Each week's poll usually has higher-profile candidates as well, like Marco Rubio running for the Senate in Florida and Allen West running for the House from Florida's 22nd District. Marco Rubio is up against RINO Charlie Crist who changed his party from Repbulican to Independent when he couldn't win against Marco. In the movie below, there is an interesting clip of Crist displaying the sleazeball that he is. Rubio is slightly ahead of Crist among likely voters, but falls behind with unaffiliated voters.

RightKlik, who is the poll minder and much more behind TBF, put together this terrific video - a nostalgic look back on the last year - the lectures, the ridicule, the demagoguery. We've been slapped around, hushed, ignored and lied about. Remember why we must Remember November. Please post the video if you would like to do so. It will be extra nice if you attribute it to RightKlik.

White House Budget $1.5B for Farmers: What Budget? Does WH Have Spending Power?

Rahm Emanuel, Obama's Chief of Staff, has told Senator Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) the White House will find $1.5 BILLION for farmers suffering from disasters across the country, including for her state of Arkansas, from the budget. What budget? We don't have a budget. He means from Obama's stash, which comes from only the Almighty knows where.

    White House

Lincoln successfully got the $1.5 billion of agricultural disaster assistance in a bill designed to aid small businesses. Republican blocked the vote. But apparently Rahm will find it, and provide it through "administrative assistance" from Obama's stash?

Emanuel called Lincoln on Thursday morning to tell her the administration would find $1.5 billion within its budget to help farmers in Arkansas and around the country who are coping with natural disasters.
Emanuel promised to provide the assistance administratively to get her to agree to delete $1.5 billion in disaster relief assistance for farmers from small-business legislation.
Emanuel’s intervention shows how closely the president and his senior aides are following the bill Democrats are trying to push through Congress.
Since when does the Executive Branch have the right to spend? Again, from what Budget will Rahm find the $1.5 billion? Only Congress has the power to spend. The point is, if Congress does not agree to spend taxpayer dollars, the President cannot just take care of it himself.

Note: this has nothing to do with farmers getting money that may be due them. It has everything to do with how they get it. From what authority does White House have that power?

Charlie Rangels War: Rangel Negotiating or On Trial?

Apparently Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) is trying to negotiate a way out of the thirteen ethics violations he is charged with, even as the trial is underway. Reports are varied. Some say he struck a deal, others say they don't think so, but as news pops up by the minute, it seems today there is no deal.

    Charlie Rangel

After pushing his opportunity to negotiate to the limits, House investigators "read out the thirteen alleged violations of ethics and federal law...." Here's a synopsis:
The charges involve four areas: Mr. Rangel’s solicitation of contributions to a school to be named in his honor at City College of New York; his errors and omissions on his House financial disclosure forms; his acceptance of rent-stabilized apartments in Harlem, including one for his campaign office; and his failure to report and pay taxes on rental income on a beach villa he owns in the Dominican Republic.
To add to the confusion, Rangel was not present when his misdeeds were publicly named. If he has cut a deal, it is not clear how many of the thirteen charges he has agreed to acknowledge.

The Democrat was trying to thread the needle by admitting to misconduct while insisting it was not on purpose, sources said.
His attempts to save his own skin by dragging out the negotiations infuriated many of his Democratic colleagues, some of whom said he was operating under the delusion that he might recapture the Ways and Means Committee chairmanship he was forced to give up last spring.
"If he were to be cleared, then it might have been possible, even in a lame duck session after the elections, to get it back," a source said, noting that Rangel always said giving up his gavel was temporary.
Rangel was hoping to convince probers that he did not deliberately avoid paying taxes, hide assets or trade legislative favors for donations to City College's planned Rangel Center, the sources said.
Read background on Rangel's culture of corruption here.

John Faulk Patricia Sullivan: Faulk Sullivan Grudge Match: Candidates Get Behind Ten Buck Fridays

RightKlik, the poll minder for Ten Buck Fridays, forwarded this good-spirited "grudge match" found at the website of John Faulk, who is running for the U.S. House seat for Texas' District 18. Faulk is on this week's Ten Buck Friday poll, along with Patricia Sullivan running for the House in Florida's 8th District.

    Patricia Sullivan

Faulk and Sullivan are having a lot of fun with Ten Buck Fridays, all the while generating attention and enthusiasm for their campaigns. In the midst of the fun, Faulk and Sullivan are doing a serious work for our country, as they try to unseat two of the most loathsome members of Congress. Faulk is trying to send the egregious Sheila Jackson Lee home, and Patricia Sullivan is vying to get Alan Grayson out of the House chambers.

Here is  the message found on Faulk for Congress, and a note from Patricia Sullivan:
I Need Your Help on a Straw Poll
Patricia Sullivan FL-8, a strong Tea Party Conservative running in a 7 person Primary set for Aug 24th, has a “grudge” match with me in the straw vote to get some national attention.
We have been fighting a tough battle with each of us gaining top spot only to be set back on our heels.
Future CongressMOM Sullivan is pulling away from me.  Please go to RightKlik or Maggie's Notebook  to vote for John Faulk!
Anyone can cast a vote in this straw poll – you do not have to live in Texas CD 18 or even in Texas.  We are down 61 votes as of 10PM Wednesday night.  The Ten Buck Friday closes at midnight Thursday night or 12:01 AM Friday. [Note from Maggie - Check my left sidebar for the poll to see how John is doing against Patricia Sullivan.
Ms. Sullivan and I have a side bet.  The loser has to post a picture wearing the winner’s campaign Tee Shirt!
Let’s have some fun and vote for Faulk! Thank you for your prayers and support.
Here is a note from Patricia Sullivan:
"I always enjoy friendly competition! I also enjoy helping out a Patriot. Don't you? I'm delighted John has made it through his primary and I look forward to working with him in Congress. Our first step to that goal is winning OUR primary which will be held August 24th.
Vote for the "Mama Grizzly" today and give generously tomorrow so we can pounce the "Good Ol' Boys" who are looking to keep establishment politics as usual in FL-8.

As I post this, John Faulk is down a little less than 20 points with Patricia Sullivan in the lead. They are one percentage point apart. The Week 5 poll ends tonight at Midnight. Please feel free to check out their websites and cast your vote.

Laura Ingraham John Eastman: Federal Law Requires Illegals to Carry Papers: Does Judge Susan Bolton Know That?

I'm awaiting the video of Laura Ingraham in for Bill O'Reilly tonight. So important is the news tonight, that she skipped the Talking Points. Her first guest was John Eastman, who is an attorney running for California Attorney General to replace AG Jerry Brown, who was voted the worst Attorney General in the U.S. by the Competitive Enterprise Institute.

    Laura Ingraham

Eastman, who is the director of the Center for constitutional Jurisprudence at Chapman University school of Law,  spoke on many of the points of Judge Bolton's ruling but one thing stuck out: Bolton ruled that illegal migrants do not have to carry I.D. papers. Bolton said that is "preposterously" wrong. U.S. Federal Law, in Title 8 Section 1304 clearly requires that identification be carried by all migrants at all times, according to Eastman. I'll look it up tomorrow. I'm closing up for the night.

I hope to have the video with the entire conversation with Ingraham and Eastman in the morning. John Eastman's website is here. (Thursday morning: still looking for the video)

Col. Allen West on Race, the NAACP and Integrity Video

Lt. Col. Allen B. West is vying for Florida's 22nd District U.S. House race. In the videos below he is asked how he will heal this country and he doesn't shy away from race or racism. In the second, he is asked to cite an instance in his life that would demonstrate his personal integrity. He had an easy answer about the end of his military career. He said he protected the men serving under him in Iraq. See two videos below.

    Allen B. West

West was talking about a specific incident in Taji on August 20, 2003.  A civilian Iraqi police officer was being interrograted. The man was thought to have information about attacks on American soldiers.

Here's the story at The National Review:
Lt. Col. Allen B. West was told the policeman was uncooperative, so he took a few of his men to the interrogation area to see for himself, where he found the prisoner being questioned by two female officers. They told him the man was belligerent, and wasn't giving them any information. (Surprise, surprise. The idiocy of having women question male Arab prisoners is apparent to everyone except the army commanders.) West entered the room, sat across from the man, drew his pistol, and placed it in his lap.
West told him he had come to either get information, or to kill him. The prisoner responded by smiling and saying, "I love you." The interrogation continued, and one of West's troops lost his temper and started slapping the man. West then had his men take the prisoner outside, where he again threatened the man, telling him that he would kill him on the count of five if he didn't tell what he knew. The prisoner refused, and West fired his pistol into the air.
The interrogation continued, but not the beating. After about 20 more minutes of useless questioning, West grabbed the man, held him down near a box full of sand used to discharge jammed weapons, and said something like, "This is it. I'm going to count to five again, and if you don't give me what I want, I'm going to kill you." West held the man down, counted to five, and then fired his pistol into the discharging box about a foot from the Iraqi's head. He began talking. Over the next few minutes, the prisoner gave very specific information about the plot. He named the conspirators, gave times and dates of the assassination plan, and even described how attacks would be made.
After the Iraqi spilled the beans about a planned attack on the Colonel's convoy, there were no more attacks on U.S. forces.

A couple of months later, West was relieved of his campaign. He was told he would go through an Article 32, which is about the same as a Grand Jury hearing. At the hearing he was asked if he would do the same thing again. West replied "if it's about the lives of my men and their safety, I'd go through hell with a gasoline can."Congress sent a letter to the Secretary of the Army in support of him with 95 signatories. West retired and began teaching school.

West is in a very tight race for the 22nd District seat. The incumbent is Democrat Ron Kelin. Everyone in the race, including the other Republican, believes the U.S. cannot win the War on Terror and they want us out of Iraq and Afghanistan now. West says we are helping the enemy by announcing our departure date and says the Rules of Engagement are too restrictive. The primary is August 24th. If you have time for only one video, watch the first one.

A Renee Ellmers Win Unseats Bob Etheridge in North Carolina's 2nd District

You remember the rude and aggressive congressman from North Carolina's 2nd District, Bob Etheridge, who assaulted a student for daring to ask a question? Etheridge is up for election this November and this is an opportunity to send a constitutional conservative to Washington, D.C. Renee Ellmers, from Dunn, North Carolina is an outstanding candidate. Etheridge, on the other hand is a far-left Liberal who scored 6% out of 100% for his fiscal responsibility as a congressman. Bad-tempered-Bob needs to go. See a new video below.

    Renee Ellmers

Friends, once upon a time, all politics were local, but today the same congressman/woman serving the people of North Carolina's 2nd District is also serving you and me. Living outside of North Carolina, we need Ellmer's conservative vote in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Incumbent Etheridge voted for the House DISCLOSE Act. Today, it failed in the Senate. No doubt there will be another effort to revive it. Keep in mind that Bob Etheridge tried to stifle your free speech with a bill that would have exempted large organizations with more than a million members (unions) and any organization in existence for more than ten years (that would not be Tea Parties). See the video of Bob Etheridge man-handling the inquisitive, but very polite student here.

Ellmers has asked Etheridge, who supports amnesty and Social Security benefits for illegals, to join with Republicans to try to defund the Obama administration lawsuit against Arizona's illegal migrant bill. That would be a stretch, but she points out that a Rassumssen poll shows 62% of North Carolinians want a law just like Arizona's SB1070.

Fifty-three percent  in Etheridge's district oppose health care, which Etheridge voted for. Renee is a Nurse and she and her husband, Dr. Brent Ellmers own the Trinity Wound Care Center in Dunn. Read more about Renee at her new website, Renee for Congress, and find my profile of her here.

Once more, politics are no longer local. Notice the "contribute" button in the top right corner of Renee Ellmers for Congress. This year I began donating with Ten Buck Friday Bloggers. Your donations need not be large, and it is easy with a credit card to donate to the great crop of conservatives around the country. Think about all the blog readers out there. Ten dollars added to the ten dollars of the many other readers can provide a moneybomb for a critical campaign.

    Here's Renee's excellent new video:

ACLU Sues Every City with Illegal Immigration-Related Measures

With today's decision of federal Judge Susan Bolton to disallow the portions of the Arizona immigration bill  (SB1070) that would allow illegal migrants to be put in ICE custody, at least one city, Freemont, Nebraska, has rescinded their own bill mimicking Arizona's. The ACLU and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) were threatening lawsuits, and so Fremont caved. Mark Krikorian, the executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies says the ACLU hopes Fremont will start a trend.

[Krikorian] But I'm not aware of any city that has passed an immigration-related measure and that hasn't been sued by the ACLU, said Krikorian. "Their goal is intimidation. They are going to sue you until you cry 'uncle.'"
And so it goes with the communists at the ACLU. It is time to separate basic human rights from civil rights. If you are in the country illegally, there should be no right to civil rights. Human Rights, yes. Civil Rights no.

Arizona governor Jan Brewer says this is far from over. She is filing for an expedited appeal to the 9th Circus Liberal Court of Appeals in San Francisco. That's a complete time waster but necessary, as she can't get to the U.S. Supreme Court without the Marxists on the 9th Circuit rendering their decision first. The decisions coming out of the 9th are routinely overturned by the Supremes.  Let's hope SCOTUS  will agree to hear the case after the 9th Circus embarrasses themselves as usual, and thumbs their noses at the Rule of Law.  From Governor Brewer:
“I will battle all the way to the Supreme Court, if necessary, for the right to protect the citizens of Arizona. Meanwhile, I also know we still have work to do in confronting the fear-mongers, those dealing in hate and lies and economic boycotts that seek to do Arizona harm.
“We have already made some progress in waking up Washington.  But the question still remains:  will Washington do its job, and put an end to the daily operations of smugglers in our nation, or will the delays and sidesteps continue?  I believe that the defenders of the rule of law will ultimately succeed with us in our demand for action.”
I support the ACLU when defending constitutional rights, but they routinely oppress the rights of others by simply suing, intimidating and waiting for the cry 'uncle.' How many winnable law suits have been dropped because of ACLU threat tactics? Being illegal in America is not a civil right.

Chris Christie Matt Lauer : Chris Christie on Sacred Cows: Teachers Unions Cops

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie interviewed with Matt Lauer yesterday. When asked about the fallout of taking on the "Sacred Cows," teachers, unions and police, and if he feared them, Christie said "I don't think you can lead out of fear." Christie could have added, "because I'm doing the right thing," an unknown concept to the mainstream White House Propaganda Squad. This is a very interesting video interview, with a Governor who understands his job.

    Christie quote:

The Teacher's Union in New Jersey has demanded 4% and 5% increases in a zero inflation world. They pay nothing in, the majority of them, for family health benefits, from the day they are hired, to the day they die.

Bell California sets the Tone for August Townhalls Video

The town of Bell, California is paying extraordinary salaries to the City Council. Robert Rizzo, the City Manager, makes close to $800,000 annually with a population of 38,000. The Chief of Police makes $457,000, said to be more than the Los Angeles Chief of Police, along with others making more than $100,000. The city also has an extraordinarily high city tax. In the video, you'll see the raucous Townhall meeting. The residents show the same clear disgust that Tea Party members feel each time they have to confront their corrupt legislators. What the town of Bell is ripping-off the Bell residents, is likely quadrupled by the U.S. government. Speaking of Tea Parties August is another opportunity to tell the bums we're throwing them out.

Bloomberg says Bell is one of the poorest municipalities in L.A. county:
The city’s personal income was $24,800 per capita in 2008, according to its financial statement. That compares with an average of $32,819 nationwide, according to 2010 figures from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.
Bell’s general fund revenue declined 4.6 percent to $14.1 million for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2009, according to the city’s financial statement. The city’s expenses rose 2.3 percent to $15.9 million in same period.

City Manager, Robert Rizzo has resigned, along with an assistant and the Police Chief. The people of Bell are not letting city elitists silence them, and neither are Tea Partiers comfortable with resting on Obama's falling polls. Bell can set the tone for August Townhall confrontations if Democrats have the honor to show up.

Prudential Financial MetLife Denies Safety and Reasonable Interest Rates to Families with Deceased Military

Prudential Financial, Inc. "handles life insurance for the Department of Veterans Affairs. A Maryland mother received a package with information about her son's $400,000 account after his death in Afghanistan. Inside was what looked like a checkbook and a letter saying the money would be held in an interest-bearing account to give her time to decide what to do with the money. The short story is that the checkbook was not a checkbook. It was a draft, and once executed, Prudential Financial had to deposit funds into a Chase bank account before she could receive the money. The interest payment on the money was far below normal and the money is not held in a FDIC account. MetLife is involved in similar tactics. The bottom line, those grieving for their loved ones should move the money to their own FDIC, interest bearing account. How much has Prudential and MetLife made off of the death of soldiers, and how much has the cheated the families lost.

Prudential Financial and MetLife Scam Military Families

Prudential holds the money in it's Alliance Account. They tell survivors the money is put in a secure account. Neither Prudential nor MetLife Inc, the largest life insurer in the U.S., segregates death benefits into a separate fund.
Newark, New Jersey-based Prudential, the second-largest life insurer, holds payouts in its own general account, according to regulatory filings.
...the company [MetLife] was paying some survivors 0.5 percent in July while some others got 1.5 percent or 3 percent, depending on the age and origin of insurance accounts. The accounts don’t violate any laws, Madden says, and are authorized by New York state insurance law.
Insurance companies -- in addition to holding onto the money of survivors, paying them uncompetitive interest rates and giving them misleading guarantees -- may be violating a federal bank law. A 1933 statute makes it a felony for any company to accept deposits without state or federal authorization.
“There’s more than $25 billion out there in these accounts,” Baxter says. “A run could be triggered immediately by one insurance company not being able to honor its payout. The whole point of creating the FDIC was to put an end to bank runs.”
This type of "retained asset account" does not affect only military benefits. The retained asset account was "invented" to pay the insurer. These accounts can pay the insurer 1 to 3 points more than it pays out to survivors. There are so many of these accounts that state regulators cannot keep up with them, and other banks are involved. DOJ SEC Exempt from Financial Reform Act CFPA

Big news this morning that the financial reform bill exempts the SEC from transparency. Perhaps even bigger news is that the corrupt DOJ is also exempt. The bottom line, no transparency at either agency. Is this how we will fund the creeping lawlessness at the DOJ? Mary Shapiro, SEC head, and Eric Holder are free to ignore whistleblowers again, and hide whatever needs to be hidden. Did the Republican senators on the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee know the DOJ and the SEC were exempt? If they did not, why not, and if they did, why did they not get to a microphone to tell us about it? We need an Operation Microphone to encourage Republicans to report these important "nuances" in legislation. See a list of Senators below.

Mary Shapiro, Eric Holder and Barack Obama

On page 24 of the CFPA Act is this: (thanks to H1JEN1 for ferreting out the truth - please read her excellent commentary.)

    (f) EXCEPTIONS.—
    (1) DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE.—Nothing in this title shall affect the authorities of the Department of Justice.
    (2) PERSONS REGULATED BY THE SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION.—
    (A) IN GENERAL.—Nothing in this title shall be construed as altering, amending, or affecting the authority of the Securities and Exchange Commission...The Agency shall have no authority to exercise any power to enforce this title with respect to a person regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Mary Shapiro, currently the head of the SEC, was appointed by G.W. and promoted by Barack Obama. As head of FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) she simply ignored the Bernie Madoff scam, even though a whistleblower was whistling.
FINRA is a private agency set up by Wall Street. It is intended to the first line of defense in policing the activities of securities firms and protecting investors. When lawsuits were filed, they were dismissed because FINRA has complete immunity under the law. FINRA is accountable to no one.
Claims of Schapiro's close relationship with Bernie Madoff and a glaring lack of regulation of his bilking activities, even with a very persistent whistleblower are numerous, and Schapiro was Madoff's son's employer. Obama promoted her from FINRA to the head of the SEC anyway.
Here are the names of the Senators on the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee. If you find your Senator on the list, please call the office and ask if they knew about this (which is on page 24 of the bill - not exactly buried), and if so, why did they not find a microphone and loudly tell us about this exemption? Remember, the issue is not that these Senators voted for it, because they did not, but the issue is getting to a microphone and telling the country what is going on. Background on the CFPA.
