Earthquake 6.0 Mag Off Eureka, CA January 4, 2010

Less than a month after a 6.5 magnitude earthqake in the same area, the USGS is announcing a 5.9 6.0 magnitude earthquake. Here are the initial details. Updates as available.

The original announcement was of a 6.0 quake. The USGS amended that to 5.9, now the LA Times is again reporting a 6.0 magnitude .At a depth of 7 miles, the quake hit 34 miles WNW from Petrolia and 47 miles WSW from Eureka, California. The time was approximately 12:20 PM. There are no tsunami warnings and no reports of damage at this time.
