Dr. Gopi Podila, the Biology Sciences Department Chair at the University of Alabama, was one of three victims who died in the shooting at the Shelby Center on the Huntsville campus yesterday. Dr. Amy Bishop has been charged with the murders of three person. I will keep this page updated as information becomes available. See updates below.

The wounded are Dr. Joseph Leahy, professor of microbiology and Stephanie Monticciolo, a department assistant were in critical condition last night. Dr. Luis Rogelio Cruz-Vera, a professor of molecular biology is reported to be in stable condition.
Dr. Amy Bishop, 42, has been charged on three counts of capital murder in the first degree and three counts of assault in the first degree.
Update 2-13-10 12:07 PM EST: In a press conference occurring now, the report is that Bishop has been charged with one count of capital murder, not three counts.
