See Any Similarities?

My artist friend, David Lemon sent an email with the Obama photo taken in Bowie, Maryland on October 7th at Bowie State University. He said: "The angle, and the grandiose pose reminds me of the posters of Lenin." Knowing that David has a magnificent eye for all things designed and shaped, I went looking for the poster he may have been thinking of and found the following, known as Lenin at the Tribune. See any similarities?

Vladmir Lenin making a rousing speech

Speaking of designing and shaping, here are a couple of my favorites bronze pieces from David Lemon, Master Sculptor  (just so you know, I receive no compensation for posting Mr. Lemon's work. He does not have an affiliate program. I receive no monetary gain - I just love what he does)

Visit David here and watch some of his daily videos that show him at work sculpting - today a new female bust, or some of his travels across beautiful Montana to visit galleries where his work is showing or taking his pieces to the foundry for bronzing. See his gallery here. A snippet from Lemon's fascinating story:
In galleries and private collections throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and the Far East, Lemon’s studies of the American experience speak proudly and passionately of the people who toiled and sacrificed to build a new nation.
David's work appears in some of the largest art collections in the country and is part of the permanent collection of the Springville Art Museum in Springville, Utah. He's been reviewed and featured by Southwest Art Magazine, Western Horseman Magazine and Art of the West Magazine and was a featured artist in the book, Contemporary Western Artists.
His gold medal winning pieces transcend culture and have touched hearts around the world. He has had exhibitions and showings in the U.S., Canada and as far away as a One Man Show In Jakarta Indonesia.
His privately commissioned bronzes stand in front of, and inside, some of the finest homes in western United States. In fact one of those homes was featured on the Home and Garden Television Network, in a show called "Homes Across America". In this show, David's artwork was largely featured. He is also very proud of a bronze he did for a Veterans Memorial located in his home town, Ennis, in southwest Montana.

Obama and The New Yorker Team Up to Target Americans for Prosperity and Koch Industries

Obama spoke in Austin, Texas in early August and tried to lay a landmine for conservative grassroots organizations with "harmless sounding names, like Americans for Prosperity." Alluding to scary Big Oil foreign-controlled corporations and evil banks, Obama complained that Americans for Prosperity (AFP) are spending millions in ads against Democrats without revealing "exactly who they are." Hear it in the video below, newly released on Wednesday, August 25th.

David Koch

The problem for Obama is America's prosperity, and for him the name (AFP) and what it stands for is not "harmless." The President and his congressional lemmings are in big trouble precisely because America's prosperity is feared to be missing. Obama places the blame on Justice John Roberts and his Supreme Court, when earlier this year it ruled that free-speech can rightly be extended to corporations and labor unions, and they can speak with their money.
Right now all around this country there are groups with harmless-sounding names like Americans for Prosperity, who are running millions of dollars of ads against Democratic candidates all across the country.  And they don't have to say who exactly the Americans for Prosperity are.  You don't know if it’s a foreign-controlled corporation.  You don't know if it’s a big oil company, or a big bank.  You don't know if it’s a insurance company that wants to see some of the provisions in health reform repealed because it’s good for their bottom line, even if it’s not good for the American people.
A Supreme Court decision allowed this to happen.  And we tried to fix it, just by saying disclose what’s going on, and making sure that foreign companies can’t influence our elections. Seemed pretty straightforward.  The other side said no.
They don't want you to know who the Americans for Prosperity are, because they're thinking about the next election.  But we’ve got to think about future generations.  We’ve got to make sure that we’re fighting for reform.  We’ve got to make sure that we don't have a corporate takeover of our democracy.
Obama knows who Americans for Prosperity is and who funds it - and I'll prove it as you read on. It's not a secret, and much to his distress, it is legal and he can't do anything about it, other than to vilify one of the most prolific philanthropists of this time, billionaire David Koch, the CEO of Koch Industries who formed Americans for Prosperity Foundation and American's for Prosperity years ago- two separate entities with separate governing boards and both committed to educating citizens about economic policy and restoring the Constitution in government. Koch is a Libertarian who once ran as the Libertarian Vice Presidential nominee in 1980 against the Reagan campaign.

The New Yorker magazine has an eleven page (yes, 11) hit piece (Covert Operations) on David Koch and his brother Charles. Apparently it is just too much that a conservative has contributed multi-millions to New York City's most sacred places: $100 million to modernize the Lincoln Center's New York State Theatre building, $20 million to the American Museum of Natural History, $10 million to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for repair of the fountains, and $40 million to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Perhaps New York is testy that Koch bought Jackie Kennedy's Fifth Avenue apartment in 1995 but sold it years later (it was too small). According to the article, the sale price was $32 million - likely a very nice profit. The New Yorker, of course, sees "profit" as a four-letter-word when that "profit" is the handiwork of a conservative.

So how do I know that Barack Obama knows who Americas for Prosperity is and what it does? The New Yorker article makes it clear in the story they told of the May 2010 "seventieth annual gala of the American Ballet Theatre:"
...David H. Koch was being celebrated for his generosity as a member of the board of trustees; he had recently donated $2.5 million toward the company’s upcoming season, and had given many millions before that. Koch received an award while flanked by two of the gala’s co-chairs, Blaine Trump, in a peach-colored gown, and Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, in emerald green. Kennedy’s mother, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, had been a patron of the ballet...
One dignitary was conspicuously absent from the gala: the event’s third honorary co-chair, Michelle Obama. Her office said that a scheduling conflict had prevented her from attending. Yet had the First Lady shared the stage with Koch it might have created an awkward tableau. In Washington, Koch is best known as part of a family that has repeatedly funded stealth attacks on the federal government, and on the Obama Administration in particular.
"Stealth attacks?" Oh my! Michelle missed her big night to stand next to Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg on the American Ballet Theatre stage - Caroline dressed in emerald green (also MO's favorite color - would Caroline have relented and chosen something in petal pink?), because it would be a tad awkward for her, the wife of a man who hates private industry, has never met a payroll, to stand beside an enormously successful man who disdains your husband policies with every ounce of energy he has, and had the audacity to generously gift New York City from his own private funds.

Those mysterious people at Americans for Prosperity, concerned about the absence of limited government, looming ObamaCare, the revisionist education of our children, leviathan tax increases, and the administration's energy plans, are people like you and I...and Glen Beck. Watch as Beck talks about the "stealth" organizations behind Obama et al, in the second video. The first video is the illuminating release from Americans for Prosperity.

Press Banned from Action at Oil Spill: First Amendment Suspended

We can send our press into the heat of Iraq and Afghanistan, but their presence in the Gulf is forbidden by the administration - it's all about their "personal safety" dontcha know. This is outrageous, as you will see in the video. Is air space still closed?

Obama is still looking for some ass to kick. He chose the press. If you don't see it, it didn't happen. I'd love to see Anderson Cooper this pumped about the border. We could sure use some press about the Arizona and Texas problem. Cooper says "we are not the problem here," but he and others in the mainstream media have become the problem because they won't tell the stories with any sense of thoroughness or urgency. Seriously, does anyone know if the airspace over the spill has been opened?

Thanks to my sculptor friend David Lemon for the First Amendment video. Have you ever traveled the Old Bozeman Trail along the Madison River in SW Montana? David says it has been traveled for 11,000 years. He videoed it for you. Also video of the bronzing of his War Medicine piece. Awesomely beautiful. If you haven't seen this process, you must. At about 3 minutes into this video you see David in the foundry, and the bronzing is going on, and in the background you hear Rush Limbaugh. Gotta love it!

Flag Day: Star Spangled Banner, Long May You Wave Over the Home of the Free and the Land of the Brave

Today is Flag Day, a day we celebrate The Star Spangled Banner - not the Anthem, but the flag, as Francis Scott Key saw it in battle and penned it in 1814 at 35 years old. The morning after the bombardment of Ft. McHenry, our flag with 15 stars and 15 stripes represented a united 16 states. This is the flag that Key saw in the dawn of his morning:

The Star-Spangled Banner the morning of September 13, 1814
after the Ft. Henry, Maryland Bombardment

Please scroll down for current news

Some say the lyrics of the Star Spangled banner are out-dated - we need a new Anthem, they say, but the words are still as wonderfully expressive to me, as they surely were then to those who loved this country enough to risk all they had.

Perhaps we sing the song without thinking about the meaning behind the words. Think about it. Francis Scott Key looked for the flag from an anchored ship, in the breaking dawn of the battle for Fort McHenry.
...let's go back to the summer of 1813...At...Fort MHenry, the commander, Maj. George Armistead, asked for a flag so big that "the British would have no trouble seeing it from a distance." Two officers, a Commodore and a General, were sent to the Baltimore home of Mary Young Pickersgill, a "maker of colours," and commissioned the flag. Mary and her thirteen year old daughter Caroline, working in an upstairs front bedroom, used 400 yeards of best quality woold bunting. They cut 15 stars that measured two feet from point to point. Eight red and seven white stripes, each two feet wide, were cut. Laying out the material on the malthouse floor of Claggett's Brewery, a neighborhood establishment, the flag was sewn together....It measured 30 by 42 feet and cost $405.90.
At 7 a.m. in the morning of September 13, 1814, the British bombardment began, and the flag was ready to meet the enemy. The bombardment continued for 25 hours....The Americans had sunk 22 vessels so a close approach by the British was no possible. That evening the connonading stopped, but at about 1 a.m. on the 14th, the British fleet roared to life, lighting the rainy night sky with grotesque fireworks.
Waiting in the predawn darkness, Key waited for the sight that would end his anxiety; the joyous sight of Gen. Armistead's great flag blowing in the breeze. When at last daylight came, the flag was still there!
Bombardment of Ft. McHenry

At dawn, Key anxiously peers into the distance to see if the flag still waves, proving the battle for God and country has not been lost. And indeed it was waving. Could there be more poignant words to describe our flag than "a star-spangled banner?"

He sees her broad stripes and bright stars, still waving over a perilous battle.

At twilight, the bombs are still raining down, the glare of the bursts again show proof that the symbol of freedom, the Star Spangled Banner, is still waving over the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

Ronald Reagan once said we should always ask: "Oh say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave, o'er the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave?"

As long as we are remembering to ask, perhaps the answer will never be "No."

You might be interested in this essay written in March 2010 by a college student whose school decided to ban the National Anthem. The decision was overturned, but the writer reminds the school of "the back story" of the Anthem and titles the essay "A History Lesson for the President of Goshen College."

In the video below, a beautiful, and unknown voice to me (maybe Jordin Sparks) sings The Star Spangled banner. The lyrics are on the screen, and if you haven't done it recently, take a moment on Flag Day to sing along and think about the men in battle, the families under seige, the enemy on our shores, and celebrate our star-spangled banner. Today, still protecting the star-spangled, is the U.S. Army, celebrating a 235th Birthday on June 14th.

Opryland Hotel Evacuated: Opryland 10' of Water inside Video: Grand Ole Opry Flooded

Have you been inside the Opryland Hotel, or do you have future reservations?  The levee on the Cumberland River was topped. The video below estimates there is about 10' of water in the beautiful hoteI. I heard on my local Tulsa radio station that a station employee and her husband were at Opryland and were evacuated without collecting their belongings. They are flying back to Tulsa because their car is under water.

From The Examiner:

...it is too early in the recovery stage to determine how long the hotel may be flocsed for, but it looks as if it will take several months before it may reopen. Gaylord Entertainment Company [the owner of Opryland] also stated that areas of the hotel are submerged under 10 feet of flood waters.

The Grand Ole Opry is also flooded with several feet of water. The original Grand Ole Opry house, the Ryman Auditorium is located in downtown Nashville and at this time there is no imminent threat. Here's the video.

Glee is Liberal: Not Shocking (Video)

The video below says that the popular Fox show, Glee, turned Left as soon as the show's popularity began its monumental rise. The question is, does the Liberal-bent of the show lead high schoolers down the Leftard road? Of course it does. The shock would be if we had talented, singing and dancing teenagers with a single conservative thought in their heads, because that just doesn't happen.

Noahs Ark Found 13,000' on Mt. Ararat in Turkey? The Latest Noah's Ark Discovery

We've seen numerous reports in the past that the Bible's Noah's Ark was found in Turkey. There is a new report out that a site believed to be the famous Noah's Ark has been found 13,000' up Mt. Ararat in Turkey. This is the highest point reported for the Ark sighting.

Noah's Ark by Edward Hicks

Chinese and Turkish "evangelical" explorers claim they have found the wooden remains, according to this report.
...carbon dating proves the relics are 4,800 years old -- around the same time the ark was said to be afloat....Local Turkish officials will ask the central government in Ankara to apply for UNESCO World Heritage status so the site can be protected while a major archeological dig is conducted.
This from NewYork Daily News:
"It's not 100% that it is Noah's Ark, but we think it is 99l9% that this is it," Yeung Wing-cheung, a Hong Kong documentary filmmaker, told AFP.
Wing-Cheung, a member of the 15-member team from Noah's Ark Ministries International, said the structure in which they got the wood had several compartments that wer possibly used to store animals.

Wyoming Short Film Contest Patrick Mignano: Patrick Mignanos Absaroka

Fellow blogger and sculptor David Lemon sent a link to the Wyoming Short Film contest. David's friend is a friend of the Absaroka filmmaker, Patrick Mignano, who wrote, produced and directed the short.

Patrick Mignano

Visit WyomingShortFilmContest, click "Random," and choose "Top Rated." Absaroka pops up first.

The film is visually quite beautiful. It's a Western with a moral lesson. We see few of both today.

Absaroka

[Mignano] I got up early and broke the trail out to the location through about three inches of snow on the highway. We were filming on the North Fork of the Shoshone River for the next two days in a forested canyon near Wapiti. There was a light snowfall but the world was a wondrous mountain setting with the penetrating quiet of the snow and mantle it cast over the rocks and trees.
The winner of the contest receives $25,000, which Mignano hopes to use to make a full-length feature. If you want to comment or vote, there is a very easy registration process.

Bozeman Montana Tea Party Video

Artist David Lemon from Ennis, Montana - Master of Bronze, videographer and blogger (see him at work here) is sharing his video from the Bozeman, Montana Tax Day Tea Party. I always love an excuse to put up some of his sculpture, so here is one of my latest favorite clays, which David is preparing for bronzing.

David Lemon's Iron Horn

The first thing that occurred to me was that everyone looked so "bright and clean," and once the rally got going, it was obvious they were also "articulate" Saw lots of "nice-looking guy," Saw lots of African-Americans at this Tea Party.
"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man." ~ Joe Biden
Enjoy, and oh, by the way, there's some chainsaw action going on, among hopes that Obama feels their "stimulus." Great video!

See Lemon's gallery here. (David is a blogger friend. I'm not a salesman:-)

Michelle Obama Sasha Malia Go to Broadway: Secret Service Threatens Audience - No More Photos

Michelle Obama and her daughters, Sasha and Malia escaped the throngs in the Capitol and went to Broadway to see Memphis, taking a dozen or so other with herDo you think the Secret Service could possibly be alarmed that audience members tried to take photos of The First Lady and First and Second Daughters? Me neither - but...the report says they were. At intermission, Secret Service warned the audience they would confiscate anyone attempting to take more photos.

Michelle Obama - Memphis

Just before intermission, the audience endured the First Girls being escorted out - while the stage was still performing. The First Girls were escorted back in after the audience was seated - hopefully not after the production had struck up the band once more.

Memphis:
...the musical tells the story of a white DJ, Huey Calhoun, in 1050's segregated Tennessee; his love for a black singer, Felicia Powell, and the then underground sound that gave birth to rock and roll.

Obama at Carnaval in France Brazil: Viviane Castro Nude Obama Painting

The Nice, France Carnival is underway and a float depicting Barack Obama as an ecological superman is floating high above the subjects he thinks he rules over, because, after all - he is the one we have been waiting for. See a video below.

"Yes we can be ecologist"

The theme is The King of the Blue Planet (is Obama the King? - apparently so.)The float is  named "Yes we can be ecologist." Okay. Is that a broccoli in his hand?

Barack Obama is no stranger to Carnavals. Last year in February, a Brazilian woman, Viviane Castro, painted her nude body and samba'd down the avenues of Sao Paulo and Rio with Obama on her leg. Despite the work of art, Castro was not exactly approving of our imperialistic president. No word on what Viviane is up to for Carnaval 2010. See a video below of Castro practicing her samba.

Larry Platts Pants on the Ground Rip Off of Green Brothers Back Pockets on the Floor?

Well, this is too bad. Larry Platt performed his "original" rap Pants on the Floor at an audition on American Idol a couple of weeks ago. The song, which advises young men to pull up their pants and turn the bill of their hat around, because "your looking like a fool with your pants on the ground...your hat turned sideways...your pants on the ground...." See videos below.

The song was an instant cult hit. It was everywhere. Platt, who says he is a "General," and FOXNews explains that he is a "civil rights soldier,"  asked FOX for help with protecting his intellectual property, because...the song was everywhere.

Here's the twist: The Green Brothers say Platt has ripped off their Back Pockets on the Floor. They said they wish Mr. Platt well, but want people to hear their version, recorded in 1996.

In the video below, you'll hear similar thought, dissimilar melody (do raps have "melody")? The Green Brothers song is a fine message. Too bad community leaders couldn't get this message heard where it should have been heard, adhered to by those who should be adhering to their elders, or simply thought of it themselves and made it happen.

Listen to the words in the Green Brothers' Back Pockets on the Floor, and then to Mr. Platt's Pants on the Floor, which he says he has been performing for about 5 years. What do you think? Rip off?

Inhofe Rolling Stones Warming Idiot: Inhofe Planet Enemy No. 7 - Mojib Latif Cooler Temps Predicted

Rolling Stone magazine named Senator Jim Inhofe No. 7 on their list of "Idiots" who are the "planet's worst enemies." Inhofe's outrage was that he wasn't No. 1. Nevermind the mini ice age some prominent climate scientists believes we may headed for, including Professor Mojib Latif, a member of the UN's IPCC. See a beautiful video of Montana and the "cooling trend" there, from a reader below.

Top on the list of those believing cooler temps are on the weather radar is the U.N.'s own Professor Mojib Latif, "a leading member of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate change (IPCC). Latif apparently warned his colleagues in a 2008 Geneva conference that tests he developed and performed deep beneath the surface of the ocean showed a coming cooling trend.

Speaking of the natural cycles that determine warmer or cooler temps, Latif said:

They have now gone into reverse, so winters like this one will become much more likely. Summers will also probably be cooler, and all this may well last two decades or longer.
The extreme retreats that we have seen in glaciers and sea ice will come to a halt. For the time being, global warming has paused, and there may well be some cooling.’
In other words, this cooling is not a side-effect of warming, as so many warming theorists want us to believe.

According to the UK's DailyMail, the BBC continued the warming storyline:
Though record lows were experienced as far south as Cuba, where the daily maximum on beaches normally used for winter bathing was just 4.5C, the BBC assured viewers that the big chill was merely short-term ‘weather’ that had nothing to do with ‘climate’, which was still warming.
Tsonis is not a warming denier, but he does not believe that computer models showing that if CO2 reaches a particular level, then temps and sea levels will rise by a given amount.

This is a very interesting article, with numerous named scientists saying that the warming we experienced was natural, with little attribution to CO2.

Thanks for the tip from reader, David Lemon. If you have not taken a look at David's online Clay to Bronze workshop, complete with fascinating videos of him as he works, you have missed something very special. David is an amazing sculptor, and a really fine videographer, working in Ennis, Montana. Get away from politics for awhile and watch David at work.
Look around at some of his photos and videos of winter in Montana, Wyoming and Idaho. This video is on David's website, but I borrowed it because it fits right in with the cooling trends. David begins a trip with temps 10 below and drives past a river with 10' of ice on top. Watch for the little pop-ups describing where he is and what you are seeing. NY Met Museum of Art Hides Mohammad: Met Submits to Religion of Peace

So you think this prestigious museum is not HIDING images of Mohammad? Well sure they are. Out of deference, or out of sheer terror of terror? Muslims have complained that it is not acceptable to display images of their prophet. So of course, the images are down. The museum's official line is, "they didn't fit the theme" of the current collection. See an amusing video below.

Muhammad Art

The museum is also dropping the word "Islamic" from Islamic Galleries, a new section of the Met scheduled to open in 2011. The New York Post  says it's Jihad Jitters, and says the new name will be "awkward." Islamic art expert, Kishwar Rizvi, said the Met has nothing to fear from Mohammed. He forgets that it's not Mohammed strapping on the suicide vests.

This from Creeping Sharia:
Another victim submits to Islamic sharia law, probably fearing the “inflammable mobs” feared in India.
Almost comical that the NY Post would seek, and publish, opinion from Yale University, which refused to publish images of Mohammed in a book about…images of Mohammed.
A book, Muhammad: The “Banned” Images, was subsequently published with many images of Mohammed in response to Yale’s dhimmitude.
Dinah Lord says the removal of the images is "Dhimmi disgrace," and Gates of Vienna says it's "an infectious disease disease of sort and the vector is Islam...

Atlas Shrugs says the museum is commiting cultural jihad:
We are supposed to get on planes, go to stadiums and buck up but one of the world's greatest museums can't stand up for .....art.

More Muhammad Art

If you cannot conceive that Muslims from the Religion of Peace might punish the Met, remember the Muhammad cartoon controversy of 2005? When cartoonist, Kurt Westergaard released the infamous cartoon of Muhammad wearing a bomb in his turban, all hell broke loose around the world. Saudia Arabia boycotted, death threats were issued, and on New Year's Day 2010, an attempt on Westergaard's life was made when a Somali Muslim armed with an axe and a knife broke into his home. Westergaard survived because he had a "panic room" and a stellar security set-up. This was at least the second time that a plot to kill Westergaard was thwarted. In 2008, three Muslims were charged with planning his murder.

The cartoon was inserted into Geert Wilders 2008 film Fitna, without Westergaard's permission (at least that's the story). The gaping gap in Hell broke even wider - fatwahs were issued. If you have not seen it, it is a must. Visit Moonbattery for the film and commentary.

Frankly, I understand The Met not wanting to risk the lives of their employees, and its famous and irreplaceable assets, but there has to be another way. Islam asks nothing more than submission from each and every one of us worldwide. We should not give it to them.

David Lemon Sculpts The Mountain Man's Rifle

You've seen the name David Lemon here many times. He is a blogging friend and a great news hound. I went to his place today, From Clay to Bronze to see photos of a cattle drive in his town of Ennis, Montana - up there in God's country.

I love to watch David's videos. Not only is he a master sculptor, but he is a master videographer, as well. Today he was working on the rifle that would fit into the hand of his mountain man. I hope you have time to watch this. It is amazing stuff - and such incredible talent. Be sure that you stay with the video, at the very least through sculpting the mountain man's hand. Unbelievably beautiful! I think you will be mesmerized.

Bought singer/songwriter Audra Mae's EP today. Beautiful. The River is my favorite. Love The Fable and her cover of Eli the Barrow Boy - love them all.

National Anthem Combined Choirs Video and Flyover

This is from several years ago - such an incredibly beautiful rendention of our National Anthem from combined choirs: U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Airforce Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and accompanied by the U.S. Army Hearld Trumpets. See video below. We are the "land of the free and the home of the brave," and President Obama, we will not let you forget it, enslave us to government, or tamp down our spirit.
