The Imam's Prayer: It Isn't What It seems

The Imam’s prayer at the DNC Winter Convocation is not so shocking. We know how Islam feels about Westerners. What is shocking is our dismissal or failure to recognize what the Imam is asking God to do. The entire prayer is printed at the bottom of this post. Hat tip to Jihad Watch. Also at the end of this article are two questions that Christians may be asked about our prayers, and some dialogue from the February 6, 2007 Hannity and Colmes segment with Ann Coulter and Geraldine Ferraro. Ms. Ferraro’s reaction refers to her own church, asserting that she often hears the same prayers there. There’s one pertinent point she is missing. More at the bottom. I have taken the Imam’s appeals to God and stated what I believe he is asking of God. For those questioning my ability to get inside the Iman’s head, I simply state what the world knows about Islamic Law. 1) The Imam says: “We thank you, God, to bless us among your creations.” My translation: Under Islamic Law, non-Muslims are not considered among God’s “blessed”. When the Imam asks God “to bless us,” he is not praying for blessings for non-Muslims. 2) The Imam says: “Through you, God, we unite". My translation: Muslims are forbidden to unite with non-Muslims. The Imam is referring to the uniting of Muslims, those following Islamic Law. There is no intention, ever, to unite with non-Muslims. 3) The Imam says: “So guide us to the right path. The path of the people you bless, not the path of the people you doom.” My translation: There is no “right path” other than Islamic Law. Those who do not follow Islamic Law, are not among God’s blessed and they are not on the “right” path. If you do not follow Islamic Law, you are doomed. The Imam is praying for Muslims to stick to Islamic Law. 4) The Imam says: “Help us God to liberate and fill this earth with justice and peace and love and equality.” My translation: The Imam’s prayer is to liberate all non-Muslims from their infidel-status, convert all non-Muslims to followers of Islamic Law, which will fill this earth with Islamic justice and peace. While most Westerners may prefer to live on this earth with Muslims, in justice, peace, love and equality, history shows us that Islamic “justice, peace and love” is an oxymoron. Under Islamic Law, God does not view non-Muslims as "equal." 5) The Imam says: “And help us to stop the war and violence, and oppression and occupation”. My translation: This is a prayer to stop all reactions against all things Islamic. He is praying that non-Muslims will no longer defend themselves against Islamic aggression and atrocities, and if they do defend themselves, he asks God for Islamic victory. He is praying that non-Muslims will have no power to oppress Islam’s goal of turning the entire world to Islamic Law. He is praying that all non-Muslim influence will be defeated in Islamic countries – all non-Muslim presence is infidel-presence. Every non-Muslim reaction is oppressive. Our very presence on this earth is an infidel-occupation. I guess these questions may be raised to Christians: “As a Christian, do you not pray that non-Christians will become Christians? As a Christian, do you not assert that belief in Christ is the only right path? My answer is “yes” to both questions. When a Christian prays for God’s blessings for others – whether friend or foe, we assume that no one is doomed, because God is in charge of that person, and God will see that His own will is done – we do not make decisions for God. Christians believe that God knows the heart of every individual, and we earthly beings do not. When we pray for someone who we believe is not following the “right” path, we simply ask they will come to know God and have His peace. We do not send a young man out with a suicide pack, and then deliver cash to the family. As to last night’s Hannity and Colmes segment with Coulter and Ferraro, Ms. Ferraro asserts that we cannot tie the Imam’s requests of God to Iraq – he may be referring to Darfur, Niger or Afghanistan, she says. Maybe so, but the issue is still Islamic Law. Ms. Ferraro mentions that his prayer against oppression may be directed to China. Well, maybe! She says that her church, St. Vincent’s Parish, prays for these same things – the same things that the Imam prays for. While the words uttered in her sanctuary may be the same, I doubt that the intent of those words is the same as the Imam’s. To see the Hannity and Colmes – Coulter and Ferraro video, visit Joshua P. Allen. My thanks and a big hat tip to Mr. Allen. Here’s the prayer in its entirety: “We thank you god, to bless us among your creations. We thank you, god, to make us a great nation. We thank you, god toss send us your messages through our father Abraham, and Jesus and Mohammed, through you, god, we unite, so guide us to the right spot we wish for peace, equality and help us to stop the war and violence, and oppression and occupation.” For additional information and for background on this Imam, visit Hot Air and Jihad Watch Trackposted to The Amboy Times: Occupation and Oppression Outside the Beltway, Perri Nelson's Website, The Virtuous Republic, A Blog For All, The Random Yak, Big Dog's Weblog, Adam's Blog, Maggie's Notebook, basil's blog, Common Folk Using Common Sense, Stuck On Stupid, Cao's Blog, The Bullwinkle Blog, Jo's Cafe, Conservative Cat, Pursuing Holiness, Conservative Thoughts, Wake Up America, Right Celebrity, Faultline USA, third world county, stikNstein... has no mercy, Pirate's Cove, Blue Star Chronicles, Planck's Constant, Renaissance Blogger, The Pink Flamingo, Dumb Ox Daily News, Right Voices, and thanks to Linkfest Haven Deluxe.
