A report just out on Fox News says the search for 7-year-old Kyron Hormon is now centering around the step-mother, Terri Moulton Hormon. Cell phone pings alerted police to Portland, Oregon's Sauvie Island, which indicates Mrs. Horman was on the island at the time she said she was at Kyron's school. This report says Kyron's paternal uncle, Kristian Horman (not Hormon) was sentenced yesterday on Child Molestation charges. That website spells Kyron's name both Hormon and Horman.

The story of the missing Jamison family from Oklahoma just got stranger. Bobby Jamison, his wife Sherilynn and their daughter Madyson have been missing since October 8, 2009. Bobby Jamison appears to have been embroiled in a dispute with his father, who died in December.

The Jamison family, residents of Eufaula, Oklahoma, went to look at property in Latimer County, and haven't been seen since. Their truck was found with "a substantial amount of money" inside, along with their dog, which was barely alive.

NewOK reports today that Bobby Jamison's father omitted his son from his will. In May 2009, Bobby filed a lawsuit against his father, claiming he had worked for his father for years and was promised he would inherit half-interest of the business. Bobby Jamison tried to get a protective order against his father, but the request was denied.

In October 2009, the family vanished. In December, the father of Bobby Jamison, Bobby Dean Jamison died. Bobby Dean left his estate to his granddaughter, Madyson, and appointed his older brother - Madyson's uncle, Jack Jamison of Sallisaw, OK executor. NewsOK says  Jack Jamison has been questioned by the FBI and Latimer County Sheriff Israel Beauchamp.

Susan Powell Buried in Mine? Susan Powell: Mommy is Looking for Crystals in a Cave?

Susan Powell was reported missing by her husband, Josh Powell, on December 7th, 2009. She has not been seen since. Her hubby Joshua Powell hasn't feigned much interest in his missing wife, and police say he is the only person of interest in the case of this missing mother of two small boys. Just minutes ago, Geraldo was on. Attorney Kimberly Guilfoyle was sitting-in for the outrageous Rivera while he is in Afghanistan embedded with our troops. Kimberly mentioned that Susan Powell may have been buried in a mine shaft, and at at some point, one of the little boys told someone that Mommy was searching for crystals in a cave. Updates when available.

Now, I was only half listening. I could have gotten it wrong. I'm not finding news stories to back this up, but that's not too unusual if this is breaking.

Ms. Powell, 28, was a Wells Fargo stockbroker. She was reported missing after not showing up at work and her children were not dropped off at day care. Her car, purse and cell phone were all found in the couple's West Valley City, Utah home. Josh, 34, said he took his two small sons camping in a desert covered in snow and below-freezing temperatures. He said he last saw his wife at 12:30 a.m. that morning.

Family and friends say Susan would not have walked out and left her children. Josh has not been involved in searches for his wife and in January he packed his things and moved to Washington state.

Family and friends of missing Utah mother Susan Powell's family say they are floored that her husband is packing up the family's belonging and preparing to move out state while ducking questions from police and the public....

We'd like to see him here helping out with Susan's search," Joshual Powell's brother-in-law, Kirk Graves, said, "But he's not."

Josh Powell rented a car the day after his wife disappeared, while police had his minivan in their custody. He allegedly put "hundreds of miles on it," but refuses to say where he went and...the Duces Wild Strip club say he was in the club on the very day Susan vanished:

A bartender, a bounce, and a club regular all say they saw him that day. He arrived on the afternoon of December 7 and was acting like and a**hole, complaining loudly about the bad day he was having. "He was belligerent to the other patrons and the girls at the bar," a worker told ABC-4. "He just kept saying over and over, "I've had a really bad day' and I've got a story to tell," but refused to elaborate.

Some of Susan's friends say she was planning to leave her husband. She reportedly set up her own bank account and prepared a will. After "fasting and praying," Susan decided to stay, and friends thought the marriage had improved.

Since this blog is basically a political blog, it is interesting to note that Joshua Powell's brother, Michael Powell was a national delegate for Barack Obama, and Michael ran on the Democrat ticket for a seat in the Washington State House of Representatives in fall 2009 and lost.

Powell's father, Steven Powell, lives just outside of Puyallup, Washington in a gated community. Susan's parents also live in Puyallup.

So about the mine story and the crystals and the children, there is a lot of talk around the Internet - just chat, about the mines in the area. What grabbed me tonight was hearing Guilfoyle say one of the children said mommy was searching for crystals. Ahmed bin Zayed al-Nahyan Missing: Brother of Dubai Ruler Missing

Ahmed bin Zayed al-Nahyan is Dubai ruler, Sheikh Kahalifa bin Zayed's brother. Sheikh Ahmed has been missing since the glider plane he was in came down in a lake. The pilot was found safe, but there is not sign of Sheikhm Ahmed. See 3-29-10 update below. Latest Update 3-31-10: The body of Sheik Ahmed was found in Lake Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah, near the Rabat, the Moroccan capital city. The family is reported to be frequent visitors to the area and owned a palace overlooking the lake reservoir.

A lake in Morocco, about 20 miles southeast of the capital city of Rabat, was searched yesterday. Sheikh Ahmed is the youngest brother of Sheikh Kahalifa and is not in immediate line for the throne.

Ahmed bin Zayed al-Nahyan (41), is listed on Forbes World's Most Powerful list at No. 27. He is the managing director of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. The fund is considered the most "discreet" of the Abu Dhabi funds, and the fund's risk is diminished by holding less than 5% of corporations around the world, with total assets estimated between $300B and $800B. This piece in the L.A. Times says the fund is estimated to have $627 billion in assets and has stakes in Citigroup and Hyatt.

BusinessWeek described the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority as the "world's largest sovereign wealth fund."

All reports indicate today that the Moroccan police are still searching for Sheikh Ahmed.

Douglas Schantz Found Dead in Mississippi River: Schantz Death Not Foul Play

Reports out today that the body of Douglas Schantz, CEO of Houston's Sequent Energy Management, has been pulled from the Mississippi River and officially identified. After Schantz became separated from his colleagues at the Razoo Bar and Patio in New Orleans' French Quarter, security cameras showed him leaving the bar about 2 AM.  Security cameras a few blocks away showed Schantz entering a restricted area at the Mississippi River. He seemed disoriented, and the belief is he may have had too much to drink and fell into the river.

Searching through videos from businesses in the French Quarter, police were able to place Schantz at the dock for the Riverboat Natchez at about 2:40 a.m. on Friday.

Police Superintendent Warren Riley said Tuesday that Schantz, who left the Razzoo Bar and Patio about 2 a.m. Friday, was seen walking on a 2-foot walkway by the river.
"We're not certain, but it appears Mr. Schantz may have fallen into the river," Police Superintendent Warren Riley said.

Riley says the man, who had been drinking, seemed disoriented on the videos. He is seen going into a restricted area and is not seen again on the video, despite a review of the following four hours of tape, Riley said.

It does not seem that Schantz was the victim of foul play, which had earlier been suspected, Riley said.
"At no point in that 36 minutes was he ever approached or accompanied by any individual," Riley said.

Douglas Schantz Missing: Douglas Schantz Sequent Energy Management Exec Missing in New Orleans

Douglas Schantz, president of Schantz Sequent Energy Management is reported missing in New Orleans. Surveillance video from the bar where Mr. Schantz was last seen shows him leaving the bar alone just after 2. a.m. Foul play is suspected. Updates as available. Update 3-9-10 below. Douglas Schantz (54), of Houston, Texas has not been seen since Friday morning when he did not arrive at the airport for his flight home. He was last seen in a Bourbon Street bar by his colleagues. Those with him said he was standing at the bar between 1 a.m. and  2 a.m. and then just disappeared. Security cameras show him leaving alone shortly after 2 a.m.

Mark Homestead, Sequent's VP of trading and marketing said "if we are out to dinner it is not unusual for us to leave at separate times," but said his boss always stays in touch, carries a BlackBerry, and returns a call within 10 minutes, 24/7. Lori Shantz, his wife, reported her husband missing when he did not arrive with his flight at the Houston airport.

The other men eventually returned to the hotel, and, in the morning, boarded flights back to Houston, where they had a noon staff meeting.

“We just assumed that he came back to the hotel,” Homestead said, adding that it is also not unusual for co-workers to take different flights home.

They began to suspect that something was wrong when Schantz didn't return for the meeting. Their worries escalated when Schantz's wife called to say he had not come home. 

Schantz was in the city to present a donation to Tulane University's energy graduate program, where he is a member of the executive advisory board of the Entergy-Tulane Energy Institute at Tulane. Students from Tulane joined Schantz Sequent executives, who returned to New Orleans on Saturday to join a search for him.

Schantz is described as white, about 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds, with a medium build, blue eyes and short, straight, dirty-blonde hair. He was last seen wearing a navy blazer, a white shirt and a tie.

Sequent Energy Management announced Saturday that it would match the $5,000 reward offered by the local office of Crime Stoppers. Anyone with information is asked to call 911, the New Orleans Police Department at 504-821-2222, Detective Gwen Guggenheim at 504-658-5300, or Crime Stoppers at 504-822-1111.  

Schantz Sequent Energy Management is reported to be a "major gas and oil company." Mr. Shantz had not used his hotel room key since Thursday afternoon. His bank accounts are untouched and his cell phone had not been used.

Mr. Schantz left from the Razzoo Bar & Patio in the French Quarter. The reward is up to $25,000.00. Tim Miller with Equusearch is using sonar and reporting that the Mississippi River is being searched this minute. Tim Miller says he is in recovery mode, while the family is still in the rescue mode.

NEW ORLEANS, LA (KTRK) -- A body found in the Mississippi River has been identified by New Orleans police as missing oil executive Douglas Schantz.

A Texas-based nonprofit group that had been searching Schantz, 54, found the body earlier today.
Tim Miller, president and founder of Texas Equusearch, said the body was found Tuesday in the Mississippi River, "very, very near" the spot where Schantz, president of Houston-based Sequent Energy Management, was last spotted on a security video Friday morning.

Joseph McStay Summer McStay Missing: Children Gianna and Joseph Missing McStay

Joseph McStay and his wife Summer McStay and their two children, Gianna and Joseph have been missing since February 4th, 2010. See a video below. See an update 3-7-10 below.

The McStay's live in Fallbrook in the Bonsall area, north of San Diego. Family contacted authorities and police checked the family home on February 14th. The morgue, the airport, the bus terminals and taxi drivers were checked. The McStay's white 1996 Izuzu Trooper was found in San Ysidro, California, two blocks from the Mexican border, and 80 miles from the McStay home. The car was empty with the children's car seats intact.

Joseph "Joey" Bryan McStay is 40 years old. His wife Summer is 43, and sons Gianna 4, and Joseph 3.

A search of the McStay home seems to show that the family did not plan to leave home for an extended stay. Their two dogs were left without food or water. Eggs were left on the kitchen cabinet. Police are working to determine if there has been any activity on their passports. Surely by now, the family bank accounts have been checked but I have found no confirmation.

A drone based out of San Diego State University will be used in the search.

Drone pilot Mike Hennig said, “As we fly, digital camera systems on board … high-resolution, 9- or 10-megapixel digital cameras on board to do still imagery. We also use streaming video from the aircraft.”

When they are launched, they can search every inch of a 15-mile area in a matter of minutes. The drones feed high-resolution digital images and GPS locations back to the search team.

If we find something of particular interest in an image, all the material that is recorded in the aircraft is GPS logged so we can sit there, find the image, pull the GPS data and be able to direct people on the ground to search specific areas,” said Hennig.

Tim Miller's Texas Equusearch, a Texas search and rescue team which became a household name while searching for Natalee Holloway, has joined the hunt. Miller said the drones can spot footprints and clothing. One drone search can take the place of 100 ground searches.

Friends and family say that the couple would not have left without notifying someone, especially Joseph. McStay's brother, Michael. The family was close, and Michael said he and Joseph speak at least once a week, but always on Friday.

Joseph McStay was self-employed. His company, Earth Inspired Products, designs, installs and ships indoor fountains worldwide. Joseph and Michael's father, Patrick McStay told authorities that he thinks his son had done business in Tijuana as recently as December 2009, and had traveled to "nearby border towns" late last year to buy granite for his home kitchen. Some of McStays smaller fountains are manufactured in Mexico according to the father. Patrick McStay said he was the initial investor in his son's company. Earth Inspired Products is said to be to successful. The family home is estimated to be valued at $300,000, and the McStay's are new to the neighborhood.

Lt. Dennis Brugos of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said there is nothing in the McStay's background that would indicate a drug connection or any "high risk criminal activity," and the Department has found no hint of marital problems.

Apparently, the last known contact with the McStay's was on February 4th. Michael McStay broke a window in the family home, after not being able to contact Joseph. That was on February 15, 11 days after someone in the family talked to family friend, Diane Cignani. The McStay's Izuzu was found in a parking lot in San Ysidro on February 8th and towed before anyone knew they were missing. Access the family website here.

A surveillance camera captured footage of a man, woman and two children resembling a missing Fallbrook family as they crossed the U.S.-Mexico border into Tijuana on foot last month, around the time they dropped out of contact with family, friends and business associates, a sheriff’s investigator said Friday.

The video images were shot at the San Ysidro Port of Entry about 7 p.m. on Feb. 8 — four days after the disappearance of Joseph McStay, 40, his wife, Summer, 43, and their sons, Gianni, 4, and 3-year-old Joseph Jr., homicide Sgt. Roy Frank said. The people on the surveillance tape seemed to be casually strolling into Mexico, with each adult holding hands with one of the toddlers, according to Frank.

There was no signs that the four, who match the general descriptions of the McStays, were distressed in any way or leaving the United States against their will, he said. Roughly four hours after the footage was recorded, security personnel towed an apparently abandoned vehicle from a commercial parking lot on Camino de la Plaza, about a five-minute walk from the border. Christine Gianacaci Body Found in Haiti Rubble at Hotel Montana

The family of Christine Gianacaci has been notified that the body of their daughter has been recovered from the Hotel Montana rubble.

Ms. Gianacaci is the second student found in two days. Courtney Hayes' family announced  their daughter was recovered yesterday (pictured top row - left). Two other Lynn University students are still missing along with two of their professors. This from Christine's family:

We’re saddened, but we're also blessed that she’s coming home. But we’re not going to be happy until all remaining Americans in that hotel are brought home," said John Gianacaci, Christine's father.

The Gianacaci family were first told that their daughter was "safe and rescued" right after the Haiti earthquake, but the information turned out to be tragically incorrect. Eight members of the Journey of Hope mission from Lynn University returned home unhurt.

There is news today that the body of Lynn University student, Courtney Hayes has been found in the rubble of Haiti's Hotel Montana. More as details are available.

The 23-year-old Hayes had not been heard from since the earthquake leveled the hotel. Her parents were notified on Wednesday, February 10th. Ms. Hayes was in Haiti for mission work. Eight other members of the group were evacuated. Still missing are three students and two professors.

Bobby Jamison Sherilynn Jamison is Family Missing in Oklahoma: Madyson Jamison is Missing Eufaula Oklahoma

Bobby and Sherilynn Jamison and their 6-year-old daughter Madyson are missing from Latimer County, Oklahoma and have not been seen since October 8, 2009. Update10-21-09 10-22-09  10-24-09 10-25-09 below.

The Jamison's are residents of Eufaula, Oklahoma. Their pickup truck was found in Latimer County with I.D.'s, cell phones and a "substantial amount of money" inside. The family dog was also in the truck and authorities say it was "barely alive."

Bobby Jamison is 44-years-old, 6'3", weighs 170 pounds and has brown hair and eyes.

Sherilynn Jamison is 40-years-old, 5'07", weighs 105 pounds and has brown hair and eyes.

Madyson Jamison is 6-years-old and has blonde hair.

Anyone with information can call the Latimer County Sheriff's Office at 918-465-2161.

Local radio reports indicate the couple had gone to a location to look "at land." Latimer County is rural with a population density of approximately 15 people per mile. Eufaula, Oklahoma is located in McIntosh Country, Oklahoma.

I've found no mention of when the Jamison's were reported missing, or if finding the empty car was the beginning of the investigation.

Update 10-21-09:

A local radio report says indicates that the Jamison's truck was found a few days after the couple disappeared - so the investigation began a few days after October 8th. A GPS, maps and coats were also found inside. Police say robbery has not been ruled out - nothing has been ruled out - even though money was found in the vehicle.

Update 10-22-09:

NewsOn6.com says the Jamison's pickup truck was found about 6.5 miles from Red Oak on October 17th. the famly was last seen on October 9th, and the report confirms the Jamisons were looking for "40 acres of land." The terrain is described as "tough." "Panola Mountain...[is] covered with trees and surrounded by grasslands."

The truck was found 8 days later by hunters in the area.

Also inside the truck were their IDs, wallets and a substantial amount of cash.
"It didn't look like to me that they got out and walked, it just looked like they got out and that was it. They didn't take their coats, it was kind of cold that day, they didn't take their cell phones, of course they didn't take their dog," said Sheriff Beauchamp.

Sheriff Beauchamp says investigators have looked into the Jamison's past and there doesn't appear to be any signs that they were in trouble or looking to start a new life. He says there's no obvious reason why they disappeared.

A search of the area, which is said to have a "triple canopy, a lot of woods," is planned for Friday, October 23rd.

Tim Miller with Texas EquuSearch has announced that Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) has contacted him, and Texas EquuSearch will join the search for the Jamison family. The website says they are a "mounted search and recovery team." You may remember that Miller was very active in the search for missing Natalie Holloway in Aruba.

A report just out of Red Oak, OK on Oct. 24th says a pocket knife was found during a search on Friday. The knife will be shown to family to determine whether it may belong to the Jamisons.

In May, Bobby Dale Jamison filed a civil suit against his parents Bobby Dean and Scarlett Jean Jamison or more than $10,000 for the loss of money to which he said he was entitled when his father sold the family gas station.


Bobby Jamison took out a protective order against his father in May, but authorities said it has been dismissed and appears unrelated to the disappearance of the younger Jamison and his family.

In the suit, the missing Jamison alleges his father enticed him to work for free at the Oklahoma City gas station, but with the understanding that one day, the son would have a half-interest in the station when he was older.

Searchers have faced difficult terrain and mud slick roads. The Sheriff's office called for "experienced searchers and people familiar with the area. 

...they got 12 dog search teams, and dozens of searchers on foot, on horse and on four-wheelers.

 

Morgan Dana Harrington is Virginia Tech Student Missing

Morgan Dana Harrington, a Virginia Tech student is missing after attending a Metallica concert at John Paul Jones Area.  See 10-22-09 10-23-09 10-24-09 10-27-09 update below video. See new video below. Update 1-25-10: A body has been found, and the Harrington family believes it is likely their daughter, Morgan. If the skeletal remains are Ms. Harrington, they were found on farm in Charlottesville, Virginia. Source. Updates when available.

 Ms. Harrington is a junior at Virginia Tech and is 20 years old. She was last seen about 8:40 p.m. Saturday night, according to this report from WHSV.com, when she became separated from friends at the concert. She has long blond hair, blue eyes, weighs about 120 lbs. and is 5'6" tall. She was wearing a black T-shirt with "Pantera" scribed in "tan" lettering across the front, a black mini skirt, black tights and knee high black boots.

Harrington reportedly drove with another VT student to James Madison University to pick up a friend and then the three made their way to the concert in Charlottesville. Police are treating the case as a "missing person" investigation, but her parents say this is not typical behavior for Morgan.

In April 2007, a Virginia Tech student, Seung-Hui Cho killed 25 students and 5 faculty in Norris Hall.

Police were just interviewed on FOX and confirmed that Ms. Harrington does not have identification or a cell phone with here. The anchor asked if it is true that Morgan's purse and cell phone were found outside the stadium, and the spokeperson declined to answer.

Odd comment in the new video above. The officer says: "however, it is very unusual that we have not heard anything, either from her friends or family, about her whereabouts." Obviously, the police have heard from her family. I think he misspoke and intended to say that it is unusual that her family and friends have not heard from Dana.

I heard a television report this morning that I cannot verify in print. Someone connected to the investigation said that Morgan Dana Harrington, called her friends in side the stadium - said she left the venue and security would not let her back in. Later, a "passerby" found her purse, i.d. and cell phone "between the arena and an athletic field at the VT.

This report indicates that the missing person search has been called off and the investigation is a criminal investigation.

Melvin, told The Roanoke Times that her friend walked out of the stadium before Metallica appeared on stage, but she didn't know why. Rader said Harrington then called her friends to let them know she wouldn't be coming back, and disappeared sometime after 9:30 p.m.

Morgan is a pretty transparent kid, who's had a really close relationship with us," her father, Dan Harrington, said in a phone interview Tuesday with The Associated Press. "I don't think there are lots of secrets, so this kind of behavior of (her) missing is not something I think we would expect.

His daughter doesn't have a boyfriend, he said, and he couldn't think of anyone who'd want to hurt her.

A motel in Charlottesville, VA was shut down yesterday as police acted on a tip the Morgan Dana Harrington had been seen at the motel. At this time, there has been no further information on the result of the investigation. The FBI has joined the search for Morgan.

The person matching Morgan's description was seen on the Copely Road Bridge near Ivy Road. The last spotting of Morgan Harrington was at 9:30 PM near the intersection of Copeley Rd. and Ivy Rd.
