David Murrin Americas Decline - The East Rises:

Perhaps you heard this on Rush today. I caught just a few words and then stumbled on the video and some commentary [linked below the video]  while researching a piece on the SEC's Mary Schapiro and porn at the SEC. David Murrin, a co-founder of Emergent Asset Management, appeared on Squawk Box Europe, and he believes that America is the last of all the Christian empires - the last one of the Christian empires, and we are in decline. See the video below the partial transcript.

David Murrin

From Rush Limbaugh:

[MURRIN]
I think sometimes long term history impacts the now and we're in it like a schism, like two tectonic plates that suddenly shift after a hundred years of energy building up. And that's really the end of the western Christian empire. It's bigger than the British empire, the American empire. It's the sum of all the Christian empires for nearly 900 years. And America is the last one. And when the last one changes and declines, which it's in, it will be very rapid, it's the end of the whole system.
At the same time the system that rises challenges far quicker as it moves into the vacuum created by the old system, and that's the east. The surprise will be the rate of that change. And we view the new administration in America as new hope. Unfortunately, if you look at historical precedents of underclass and the mechanism of an underclass actually coming to the fore demographically, it is not new hope, it's the beginning of the end. And we're seeing that very quickly take place.
[COMMENTARY FROM RUSH]
Did you hear that? Did you understand what this guy said? He said that when the underclass, the mechanisms of an underclass come to the fore demographically. To translate this for you people in Rio Linda and Port St. Lucie, when the poor are expanded and more and more people become poor and become wards of the state, it's the beginning of the end. When the underclass -- that's a British term, underclass means the poor, it doesn't mean they're lesser people.
When the poor become the dominant group, it's over, by definition it's over. Well, do I accpt this? I do not accept this yet. I do not believe that it is inevitable, but I do believe that the path we're on would lead to this if we don't stop this, absolutely. That's hot it works...if we don't stop this. We know what history says, that we're bound to repeat it if we ignore it.
[MURRIN]
The refusal of Obama to commit to the missile defense system in Poland was a terrible sign to the adversaries of America. They saw it as weakness. And, in fact, if you look at chinese policy since and articulation, it's been far more aggressive and expansive. So the moment that the incumbent shows its inability to project power and use the power it has, the challengers move forward very quickly, 56% of their society is male. In a normal society it's 51. That's 5% of extra risk capital and what that means is they are far more risk orientated than actually a society in the west.
[RUSH COMMENTARY]
...They've got 56% males which means they got a lot of guys they can afford to lose in battle. And they perceive Obama as weak. And they're acting on it. And so are the others of our adversaries, see Obama as weak. In other words, this guy is an unmitigated disaster no matter which way you slice it....
There's more than transcribed. Empire-building and empire-declines - worth a listen and look.

President Eisenhower Put Americans First and Closed the Borders

President Dwight Eisenhower championed legal immigration, and his benevolence toward those wanting a homeland in America is an important part of his legacy.

In a March 1960 address to Congress he said this:

The names of those who make important contributions in the fields of science, law, and almost every other field of endeavor indicate that there has been no period in which the immigrants to this country have not richly rewarded it for its liberality in receiving them.
He proposed doubling the quota of 154,000 immigrants then accepted into the U.S. He encouraged accepting larger numbers of those fleeing from oppression:
This year has been designated World Refugee Year. The United States and sixty-eight other nations have joined together in an attempt to seek permanent solutions for the problems of these peoples. Nations who in the past have granted entry to the victims of political or religious persecutions have never had cause to regret extending such asylum. These persons with their intellectual idealism and toughness will become worthwhile citizens and will keep this nation strong and respected as a contributor of thought and ideals.
He spoke of the "Liberalization of some of our existing restrictions upon immigration," but let's time travel back to the early 1950's as he geared up for his first Presidential campaign. Illegal immigration was heavy on his mind.

John Dillin, writing in first person for The Christian Science Monitor, spoke of an interview with Eisenhower's first attorney general, Herbert Brownell Jr., years after Eisenhower left office.
America "was faced with a breakdown in law enforcement on a very large scale," Mr. Brownell said. "When I say large scale, I mean hundreds of thousands were coming in from Mexico [every year] without restraint."
Dillin reports that President Eisenhower had a "sense of urgency about illegal immigration" when he took office.

In 1951 Senator William Fulbright (D-AR) proposed a special Congressional commission to:
examine unethical conduct by government officials who accepted gifts and favors in exchange for special treatment of private individuals.
"General" Eisenhower responded to Fulbright with his approval of such a commission and publically quoted a New York Times article:
"The rise in illegal border-crossing by Mexican(s) [snip] to a current rate of more than 1,000,000 cases a year has been accompanied by a curious relaxation in ethical standards extending all the way from the farmer-exploiters of this contraband labor to the highest levels of the Federal Government."
Eisenhower won the Presidency and acted quickly, according to Dillin:
As many as 3 million illegal migrants had walked and waded northward over a period of several years for jobs in California, Arizona, Texas, and points beyond.
President Eisenhower cut off this illegal traffic. He did it quickly and decisively with only 1,075 United States Border Patrol agents - less than one-tenth of today's force. The operation is still highly praised among veterans of the Border Patrol.
Profits from illegal labor led to the kind of corruption that apparently worried Eisenhower. Joseph White, a retired 21-year veteran of the Border Patrol, says that in the early 1950s, some senior US officials overseeing immigration enforcement "had friends among the ranchers," and agents "did not dare" arrest their illegal workers.
Officials with an agenda? Sound familiar? "So there's nothing new under the sun " except four very important facts:

1) In the early '50's, there were 3 million illegals. Today there's 12-20 million illegals with a population of 300 million, with more flooding in each day - and they are more determined than ever to encroach, as responsible Americans hold strong for closed borders.

2) In the '50's, illegals were not on our welfare rolls, were not stealing our social security numbers, were not flooding our hospitals, were not flooding our schools, were not receive loans for housing, were not hanging our flag upside down with the American flag below Mexico, and they were not protected by Liberals, whether Democrat or Republican.

3) The illegal "vote" did not exist.

4) We had a President determined to close the border and rid the government of corrupt officials.

President Eisenhower cut off this illegal traffic. He did it quickly and decisively with only 1,075 United States Border Patrol agents - less than one-tenth of today's force. The operation is still highly praised among veterans of the Border Patrol.
Eisenhower appointed a former West Point classmate and veteran of the 101st Airborne, General Joe Swing to head the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). Swing swung into action and almost before the bureaucrats knew what was happening, "entrenched immigration officials" were on their way out of border areas "where their political connections" with influential Senators could no longer impede border safety.
By September, 80,000 had been taken into custody in Texas, and an estimated 500,000 to 700,000 illegals had left the Lone Star State voluntarily.
Mexican nationals were returned by bus or train, deep into Mexico where making it back to the U.S. border was not an easy trip. Tens of thousands...tens of thousands!
Tens of thousands more were put aboard two hired ships...
According to Dillin, the sea journey was not pleasant. The intimation was that most of these "tens of thousands" would not want to make the same trip again. Perhaps they stayed home in Mexico.

Asserting that the United States cannot secure our borders, without accepting 12-20 million illegals via a Z-Visa, is complete political spin for the gain of the politicians casting the 'yea' vote.

Read how President Bill Clinton and Vice-President Al Gore manuevered to legalize hundreds of thousands of illegals to invade our voter's booths.

America and Israel: Factionalism in a Time of War

Sultan Knish blogging "from NY to Israel" reports daily on the pulse of Israel, the evil behind the hate in the Middle East and the folly of appeasement. When I'm reading Knish, I always feel as though I'm watching the future being played-out, as though I'm on the inside witnessing very personal events... events that will change my life. Today, Gaza has fallen to Hamas, the majority of our Senate is abandoning the rule of law, and Israel awaits its enemies. He has given me permission to reprint one of his posts in its entirety. Get ready to be propelled into the moment.

When Brothers Become Enemies Factionalism in America and Israel in a Time of War
Then none was for a party; Then all were for the state; Then the great man helped the poor, And the poor man loved the great: Then lands were fairly portioned; Then spoils were fairly sold: The Romans were like brothers In the brave days of old. Now Roman is to Roman More hateful than a foe And the Tribunes beard the high, And the Fathers grind the low. As we wax hot in faction, In battle we wax cold: Wherefore men fight not as they fought In the brave days of old. Horatio - Macaulay
The sentiments and the narrative here are of course universal ones-- the virtues, unity and military strength of a nation becoming corrupted by factionalism. The more the factions within a nation hate each other, the more eager they are to battle one another than the enemy. A nation busy fighting itself cannot defeat the enemy. The surest way to victory is to create fifth columns, to divide a nation against itself and set itself to internal bickering. Israel fell both times because it was divided, because factions and kingdoms quarreled against each other, unable and unwilling to unite-- even against a common enemy. The most dreadful reason for that is that they hated each other more than they did the enemy. When George Washington delivered his farewell address warning against factionalism, it was because he had already bitterly experienced the assaults conducted against him by former allies like Thomas Jefferson's faction and Thomas Paine. That factionalism crippled the United States going into the War of 1812, resulting in a near defeat. It escalated and eventually served to worsen and eventually contribute to the Civil War. Factionalism helped delay US entry into WW2. It caused the American defeat in Vietnam. It gave us eight years of the Clinton Presidency which viewed conservatives, not Islamic terrorists as the real threat. Clinton's Democratic successors continued and continue to think that way after 9/11. To liberals the gravest threat that requires their immediate response did not come from Osama Bin Laden-- but from George W. Bush. Despite occasional outward gestures, that has not changed and has instead only grown more so. The Democratic party had become so mired in factionalism that it was incapable of recognizing any threat that did not originate from the Rush Limbaugh show. That deliberate blindness cost the lives of thousands and yet nothing would be learned from that. If Liberals had invested a fraction of the effort into fighting terrorism that they invested in fighting the Republicans-- the cultural war at least would have been won. Instead they have done everything possible to undermine the War on Terror from spreading lies to smearing troops and serving as the PR corps for the terrorists. In Israel the Labor socialists had repeatedly treated Zionists and Nationalists as the real enemy. During the resistance against British rule, their top figures including deceased former Jerusalem Mayor Teddy Kollek, collaborated with the British authorities in informing and even kidnapping and torturing Irgun and Lehi members. During the start of the War of Independence, Ben Gurion ordered future Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin to open fire on the Altalena, a ship carrying a large cargo of arms along with future Prime Minister Menachem Begin-- because he had refused to comply with the socialist leadership's orders to hand over all arms on the ship-- rather than divide them. It was the same old story when Rabin as Prime Minister now-- signed a deal with Yasir Arafat under the aegis of the Clinton Administration-- that set up Palestinian terrorist controlled territories within Israel's borders and treated the settlers with contempt-- even as his police brutally crushed protest rallies. After Rabin's death, the campaign of hatred aimed at conservatives in Israel really took off. Offices belonging to the Likud were smashed and the media did its best to try and paint Netanyahu as being responsible for the assassination. Leah Rabin announced that she would rather that her children marry Arabs than settlers. Even as the terrorism grew worse, Labor socialist Prime Ministers from Rabin to Peres to Barak continued a campaign of hate against the settlers, as if they-- rather than the terrorists these very same governments had invited into the country-- were to blame. That attitude reached its culmination under Sharon and Olmert with the forcible expulsion of thousands of Jews from their home so as to expand the territory of the terrorist Hamas state-- which employed the rubble of those destroyed homes as launching pads for the next wave of rockets pounding Israeli towns and villages. As police brutality against the settlers escalated, the foreign funded peace activists-- who included Olmert's own wife and daughter and son-- engaged in increasingly violent provocations and protests. And the very same government which papered over the worst crimes of the police when it came to settler rallies, immediately shifted into condemnation when soldiers defended themselves against foreign pro-terrorist activists. All the energy directed into internal warfare is energy directed away from national defense. The better the factions within a nation get at fighting each other, the less energy they have for fighting the enemy. "As we wax hot in faction, In battle we wax cold: Wherefore men fight not as they fought In the brave days of old." An army is not merely a tool, it is an assembly of citizens ready and willing to give their lives for a nation. When a nation's government and cultural elites send the message that fighting the enemy isn't worth dying for and is immoral in any case-- that army's morale drops until it becomes increasingly useless. Its generals become political generals just waiting to retire, write their books and perhaps go into politics. Taxes increase as the factions maneuver and work to raise money for their campaigns against each other and to pay off the various sectors of the population whose support they wish to buy, e.g. unions, senior citizens, bureaucrats, minorities. Jobs vanish but this is of little concern to the factions which prefer a dependent citizenry over an active and prosperous one. Immigration expands greatly as one or more of the factions see the new pool of prospective citizens as an appealing new gullible base for their voting pool. Thus Israel's secular governments have imported massive amounts of non-Jewish Russians to balance out the growth of the religious population and ignored assaults and anti-semitic attacks against religious Jews and finally destroyed the homes and economic and family lives of thousands of religious Jews-- with plans to destroy tens of thousands more. In the United States the push to legalize illegal Mexican immigrants is building to a crescendo as many Democrats and Republicans believe that they have the potential to boost the voting base of one side or the other. The distortion of rhetoric has allowed the media to recreate the issue in terms of civil rights and hatred of immigrants-- rather than in common sense legality and illegality. In Europe, socialists increasingly rely on a Muslim voting public and pander to it using populist Anti-American and Anti-Israel rhetoric, while opposing Anti-Terrorist measures in their own countries. Factionalism ultimately destroys and disintegrates a country in the face of an enemy invasion. Islamic terrorists know this quite well, which is why they pander to the left, reciting material from Michael Moore films and forming ties with left wing college professors and intellectuals-- as they successfully exploit our domestic fifth column. In Israel millions from the EU help to fund organizations like Peace Now dedicated to the dismantling of the State of Israel by undermining its national defense and expelling tens to hundreds of thousands of Jews from their homes. In the United States millions more pour into the coffers of organizations like MoveOn from overseas funders like George Soros. Factionalism makes a country an easy target for the enemy. A house divided against itself cannot stand. The potential to unite a nation exists by cutting the divisive elements out of the picture and appealing directly to the people. That requires a leadership with great integrity and incorruptibility that can transcend politics and deal fairly with all sectors of society and transcend corporate allegiances and old geographical alliances for a new way. The alternative becomes the inevitable battle Lincoln was forced to confront. Yet Lincoln's America only had to fight an internal enemy. Had the Republic been forced to fight both an internal and external enemy at the same time-- it would not have survived. A house divided against itself cannot stand up to the enemy. It must either unite or be destroyed. Article End Posted by Sultan Knish I also highly recommend today's post from Sultan Knish: The Final Death of the Oslo Peace Plan is Here. Joe Biden Chooses His Civil Wars

Let me get this straight: Joe Biden wants us out of Iraq because

"...we cannot sustain 150,000 Americans in Iraq without extending deployment times, sending soldiers on fourth and fifth tours, or mobilizing the National Guard. Even if we could, our large military presence -- while still the only guarantor against a total breakdown -- is increasingly counterproductive..."
and he wants our military forces in Darfur to
"...end the suffering..."
and he
would use American force [in Darfur] now"
Biden
"...and other senators expressed impatience with the lack of progress on Darfur four years after civil strife broke out between Arab and black tribes in the western Sudanese region."
According to Wikipedia:
Sudan has two distinct major cultures-- Arabic-speaking Black Africans and non-Arabic speaking Black Africans--with hundreds of ethnic and tribal divisions and language groups between them, which makes effective collaboration among them a major problem.
According to About.com:
Darfur is a region in Western Sudan, the vast majority of whom are black and Muslim. Darfur, roughly the size of France, is home to 8 million people, and dozens of different ethnic groups. The most important divisions in terms of understanding the conflict in Darfur are between the sedentary farmers and the so-called "Arab" nomadic herders.
And more from About.com on political conflict in the Darfur region:
These local rebel groups, composed primarily of African Sudanese, accuse the Sudanese government of neglecting the Darfur region and of favoring Arabs over non-Arabs. Their aim is to overthrow Bashir's regime in Khartoum.
Bashir, according to About.com:
...has a strong Arab character and derives most of its support from the north of the country, which is largely Arab.
According to MSNBC news, a proposed force of 22,000 U.N. Peacekeepers and African Unions forces have been approved to be deployed to Darfur but... U.N. Secretary Gen. Ban Ki-Moon has imposed a delay to determine whether the Sudan will ACCEPT international peacekeepers. Sudanese President Bashir is a politician. He has refused the deployment, fearing a violation of Sudanese sovereignty and fearing that he will be arrested and tried for war crimes. Then there's the issue of rape in Darfur; alleged rape by Bashir's "Arab-militia" and alleged rape by U.N. Peacekeepers. Back to Biden's call for American troops in Darfur: On April 3, 2007, The Weekly Standard reports
Biden is saying that Iraq is currently experiencing a civil war and that our troops should have no part in it.
and, Biden muses:
What if our troops become targets in the Iraqi civil war?
Senator Biden, are you the "decider" about who is in a civil war, and a discriminator of civil wars, now? Some are okay, some are not? I believe Darfur is in a desperate state. They need serious help and the United States of America is more than capable of doing the job. But, oh my, can't you just hear it all now? We go in and not long after, the Left and the world will excoriate this great country. We don't go in, and nothing changes, the Left and the world will excoriate this great country. It's deja vu. Were it not for the wussification-factor of American Liberals, we would just quietly take care of Darfur, and we would have boldly taken care of Iraq. King Abdullah:
Humaneness and Desert Values

I thought I was reading the New York Times, but instead it was Arab News. What follows are reports of a Festival held in Saudi Arabia this past week. The words from this Islamic "festival" are reminiscent of American Liberals' rhetoric of anything and everything conservative in this country. They blame us for racism, for our Christian beliefs, for our lack of tolerance, for no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq - they say Conservatives lie, in brief, the Democrats blame us for a culture of corruption - just as does Islam. As our Republican leadership fails to come to the microphones, whether in majority power or not, and speak out for the very values they were elected for, Conservatives are facing their own personal Jihad from the Left. Read the following and marvel at the parallels: King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, hosted the Janadriya Heritage and Culture Festival in Riyhad this week. The festival was “open to the world” and included “a number of Russian intellectuals,” the King said. Russian President Vladimir Putin was among the dignitaries. In this headline from Arab News, dated today, King Abdullah Warns Muslims Against Forces of Schism, Abdullah “called upon Arabs and Muslims to strengthen unity and cautioned them against forces that try to create division among them. He urged Muslim and non-Muslim intellectuals to uphold human values. “The whole world is looking for humaneness,” the Saudi Press Agency quoted the king as saying. Then you get the left hook: Speakers at a Friday seminar, organized as part of the festival, pointed fingers at the United States for nurturing a culture of hatred toward Islam and Muslims. This from “Mufti of Lebanon Dr. Muhammad Ali Al-Juzo:

The mufti said radicalism, a product of racism, enclosure and religious hatred, was noticeable everywhere, but it was prominent in the West. “Despite the scientific advancement in America it still looks at others with snobbishness and conceit,” he said. “They have not been able to free themselves from racism since the Crusades,” he said. He said America was seeking to impose its own agenda on other countries in the region through domination and cited the example of the invasion of Iraq, which President George W. Bush dubbed “Operation Freedom.” “The invasion of Iraq was part of a big lie. It was accused of having weapons of mass destruction and was invaded. And all of this happened so Israel could feel secure and not threatened,” he added. America, he said, was causing another tragedy in the region by taking sides in the Sunni-Shiite conflict by supporting one side against the other. He said that the president’s speeches reflected his prejudice toward Islam. “What their culture of hatred reveals to us today is only a fraction of what lies inside. Today we face a new Western colonization,” he added.
Also in attendance was Dr. Jaafar Idrees who said this:
“...the Qur’an differentiated between hatred and hostility. He said Islam’s tolerant message is not to attack others who do not believe in its message, but to call them to the right path. The problem, he noted, was not in hatred itself but when hatred turns into armed battles. “The real danger is when a superpower builds its policies on a religious belief which allows it to conquer other countries,” he said.
Getting back to King Abdullah, he
“...underlined the desert values of humaneness, open-mindedness, sincerity, chivalry, courage, magnanimity, romantic spirit and closeness to God”. “A man in power should meet the hopes and aspirations of ordinary people in the streets, know the views of prominent people...”. The same article recounts a question to the King. While it intimates (but doesn’t specifically state) that Vladimir Putin asks “...when Saudi women would start driving in the Kingdom’s streets?...King Abdullah replies “...a decision...must come from Saudi society”.
So much for “ordinary people in the streets".

The Imam's Prayer: It Isn't What It seems

The Imam’s prayer at the DNC Winter Convocation is not so shocking. We know how Islam feels about Westerners. What is shocking is our dismissal or failure to recognize what the Imam is asking God to do. The entire prayer is printed at the bottom of this post. Hat tip to Jihad Watch. Also at the end of this article are two questions that Christians may be asked about our prayers, and some dialogue from the February 6, 2007 Hannity and Colmes segment with Ann Coulter and Geraldine Ferraro. Ms. Ferraro’s reaction refers to her own church, asserting that she often hears the same prayers there. There’s one pertinent point she is missing. More at the bottom. I have taken the Imam’s appeals to God and stated what I believe he is asking of God. For those questioning my ability to get inside the Iman’s head, I simply state what the world knows about Islamic Law. 1) The Imam says: “We thank you, God, to bless us among your creations.” My translation: Under Islamic Law, non-Muslims are not considered among God’s “blessed”. When the Imam asks God “to bless us,” he is not praying for blessings for non-Muslims. 2) The Imam says: “Through you, God, we unite". My translation: Muslims are forbidden to unite with non-Muslims. The Imam is referring to the uniting of Muslims, those following Islamic Law. There is no intention, ever, to unite with non-Muslims. 3) The Imam says: “So guide us to the right path. The path of the people you bless, not the path of the people you doom.” My translation: There is no “right path” other than Islamic Law. Those who do not follow Islamic Law, are not among God’s blessed and they are not on the “right” path. If you do not follow Islamic Law, you are doomed. The Imam is praying for Muslims to stick to Islamic Law. 4) The Imam says: “Help us God to liberate and fill this earth with justice and peace and love and equality.” My translation: The Imam’s prayer is to liberate all non-Muslims from their infidel-status, convert all non-Muslims to followers of Islamic Law, which will fill this earth with Islamic justice and peace. While most Westerners may prefer to live on this earth with Muslims, in justice, peace, love and equality, history shows us that Islamic “justice, peace and love” is an oxymoron. Under Islamic Law, God does not view non-Muslims as "equal." 5) The Imam says: “And help us to stop the war and violence, and oppression and occupation”. My translation: This is a prayer to stop all reactions against all things Islamic. He is praying that non-Muslims will no longer defend themselves against Islamic aggression and atrocities, and if they do defend themselves, he asks God for Islamic victory. He is praying that non-Muslims will have no power to oppress Islam’s goal of turning the entire world to Islamic Law. He is praying that all non-Muslim influence will be defeated in Islamic countries – all non-Muslim presence is infidel-presence. Every non-Muslim reaction is oppressive. Our very presence on this earth is an infidel-occupation. I guess these questions may be raised to Christians: “As a Christian, do you not pray that non-Christians will become Christians? As a Christian, do you not assert that belief in Christ is the only right path? My answer is “yes” to both questions. When a Christian prays for God’s blessings for others – whether friend or foe, we assume that no one is doomed, because God is in charge of that person, and God will see that His own will is done – we do not make decisions for God. Christians believe that God knows the heart of every individual, and we earthly beings do not. When we pray for someone who we believe is not following the “right” path, we simply ask they will come to know God and have His peace. We do not send a young man out with a suicide pack, and then deliver cash to the family. As to last night’s Hannity and Colmes segment with Coulter and Ferraro, Ms. Ferraro asserts that we cannot tie the Imam’s requests of God to Iraq – he may be referring to Darfur, Niger or Afghanistan, she says. Maybe so, but the issue is still Islamic Law. Ms. Ferraro mentions that his prayer against oppression may be directed to China. Well, maybe! She says that her church, St. Vincent’s Parish, prays for these same things – the same things that the Imam prays for. While the words uttered in her sanctuary may be the same, I doubt that the intent of those words is the same as the Imam’s. To see the Hannity and Colmes – Coulter and Ferraro video, visit Joshua P. Allen. My thanks and a big hat tip to Mr. Allen. Here’s the prayer in its entirety: “We thank you god, to bless us among your creations. We thank you, god, to make us a great nation. We thank you, god toss send us your messages through our father Abraham, and Jesus and Mohammed, through you, god, we unite, so guide us to the right spot we wish for peace, equality and help us to stop the war and violence, and oppression and occupation.” For additional information and for background on this Imam, visit Hot Air and Jihad Watch Trackposted to The Amboy Times: Occupation and Oppression Outside the Beltway, Perri Nelson's Website, The Virtuous Republic, A Blog For All, The Random Yak, Big Dog's Weblog, Adam's Blog, Maggie's Notebook, basil's blog, Common Folk Using Common Sense, Stuck On Stupid, Cao's Blog, The Bullwinkle Blog, Jo's Cafe, Conservative Cat, Pursuing Holiness, Conservative Thoughts, Wake Up America, Right Celebrity, Faultline USA, third world county, stikNstein... has no mercy, Pirate's Cove, Blue Star Chronicles, Planck's Constant, Renaissance Blogger, The Pink Flamingo, Dumb Ox Daily News, Right Voices, and thanks to Linkfest Haven Deluxe. Tuesday's Freedom and Liberty Blog Reading List

It's a Linkfest Haven here today - in fact, my first. If you are curious about the details, go to Linkfest Haven Deluxe: The Blogger's Oasis for details.

February (Week 2) 2007

There's much great content by Conservative bloggers, but so little time to read. I'm referencing, today, a few pieces that I feel are especially pertinent to our American liberties and freedoms. If you haven't gotten to them, I'm providing the link. If you have already read them, then I'll compile a nice little list for easy reference for myself.

1) Renaissance Blogger had a piece by Selwyn Duke, published at American Thinker" The Offensiveness of Taking Offense". My short summary (and only my opinion) is that Duke asserts no matter how much substance backs up our statements and arguments, the Left uses the ploy of "what you said is offensive". He upholds the right to be offended, but encourages us not to fail at getting our message out - not to be intimidated. He says: "Tyrants agree: the easiest way to win a debate is to prevent the other side from debating" and "The great victory of the left is that it has made us apologize for being right". Visit
Renaissance Blogger
to read their take, and then jump to the original American Thinker piece.

2) Faultline USA posts Our Vulnerable Religious Freedoms. They pose the question: is Islam a religion or a political movement? This piece is an inside look at what we ignore every day in the name of Freedom of Religion and Freedom of Speech. Visit Faultline USA for a wide-eyed look at the possible inadequacy of the U.S. Constitution's ability to guard the true nature of Freedom of Religion.

3) Right Truth laying out details and offering links to the new Terrorism Awareness Project, attempting to get a conservative Terrorism viewpoint out to college campuses. Find the campuses who have rejected this information because they deem it unfair, or hateful, or untruthful (even though documentation is offered) - as well as some surprising colleges and universities who have accepted the ads. You'll find a link to a flash video by The David Horowitz Freedom Center: Islamic Mein Kampf. It will remind you, frighten you and hopefully, propel you and me to be aware - and to never forget how precious our freedoms are. Visit Right Truth: Introducing the Terrorism Awareness Project for related information and links to each of the above.

Al Qaeda Claim: "...new ways to attack American Planes"

A short blurb on Fox News Channel last night caught my attention. The inference was that al Qaeda may be using a different type of anti-aircraft missile in Iraq. I'm convinced that Iraq doesn't have a single anti-aircraft factory up and running inside its borders. If al Qaeda's claim is true, officials seem unwilling to hint at the origin of these new weapons being provided to the world's most despicable group of wannabe Dictators. I'll not hint, but I will speculate that it's more of Iran's on-going plan to bring about the total destruction of Israel and America. A helicopter and soldiers here, your freedom and mine, there. The loss of one will eventually result in the loss of the other, if Congress doesn't let our U.S. Military get-on with winning this war. Small, pertinent portions of two articles are shown below. To read the entire articles, use the link provided above each of the excerpts.

Today's CBS News Online: Iraq: After Saddam From a fairly long piece, way down toward the bottom of an article titled: Baghdad Bomb Kills 121, Wounds Hundreds you'll see this small statement toward the end of the article:
"A U.S. Army helicopter crashed Friday in a hail of gunfire north of Baghdad, police and witnesses said — the fourth lost in Iraq in the last two weeks. The U.S. command said two crew members were killed, and the top U.S. general conceded that insurgent ground fire has become more effective". An al Qaeda-affiliated group claimed responsibility and said its fighters had "new ways" to attack American planes.
From Fox News online this morning:
"BAGHDAD, Iraq — All four U.S. helicopters that have crashed in Iraq since Jan. 20 appear to have been brought down by "some kind" of ground fire but it is unclear whether this represents any new threat to U.S. aviation, the chief U.S. military spokesman said Sunday".

America's New Non-Lethal Super Weapon: The Heat-Ray Gun

The U.S. is about 3 years away from production of a new non-lethal weapon. Read the story by Daniel Freedman, blogging for The New York Sun. We need one of these in each major city in the U.S. A great assist for police - gang-related violence - no longer a problem. Technorati Tags:
