Judicial Watch Sues Daley: Obama Jarrett Ethics Waiver: Valerie Jarret Olympic Info Withheld

Judicial Watch is suing Chicago's Mayor Daley for withholding information relating to Valerie Jarrett's "ethics waiver," which supposedly allowed her to abandon White House rules and "spearhead" Chicago's failed bid for Olympics 2016.

Notice in the following from Jarrett, the White House wanted to be in charge. Jarrett was to be the charge-or. In the past, has a White House ever tried to engineer the Olympics, or be responsible for the Olympics? 

We wanted to have one point of contact in the White House who is responsible to make sure everything runs smoothly," she told the Tribune... "Our goal is to try to win the bid."

They failed.

Judicial Watch says Daley's "illegal" refusal to release documents is an effort to cover for President Obama, the "other side of Barack Obama's brain," Valerie Jarrett, and other White House officials.

The issue, as Judicial Watch explains it, is 

President Obama tapped White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett to lead the Olympics effort, despite her personal and business ties to Chicago, which included a stint working for Mayor Daley. The Obama White House granted Jarrett a conflict of interest "ethics waiver" to allow her to serve as "Olympics Czar," despite her having personally led the Olympics bid for Chicago before entering the White House. (Other potentially conflicted White House officials with Chicago-ties include Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and Senior Advisor David Axelrod.)...

Jarrett, who previously served as vice chair of Chicago 2016, needed the waiver because the White House ethics pledge prohibits appointees from dealing with matters "substantially related" to previous employers or clients.

The Freedom of Information Act request was filed on September 5th. Daley's office did not acknowledge it until October 1, and then granted "itself" another 7 days extension. From that point on - silence from Daley until an administrative appeal was filed by Judicial Watch, with a response date of November 3rd. A Daley spokeswoman wants the scope of the documents narrowed, saying they have not seen the lawsuit, but would provide "responsive non-exempt" records.

A question: what, among the documents, should be exempt? Maybe Judicial Watch knows and that's why a law suit is pending.

Among the information the group seeks is, "[a]ll correspondence between the Office of the Mayor and President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel [sic], Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett, the White House, and/or the Office of Olympic, Paralympic, and Youth Sport regarding the City of Chicago's bid to host the 2016 Summer Olympics."

A clue to why Judicial Watch may be looking at improprieties might be in the opening paragraph of one of my posts about Valerie Jarrett:

Jarrett's company, Habitat Co., managed the Grove Parc apartments back in the days before she moved on up to the White House. Under her watch and management, Grove Parc fell into extreme disrepair, and all this happened while U.S. Senator Barack Obama represented the district where the apartment building is sitting.

Grove Parc is said to be located "in the shadows" of the proposed Olympic Village, had the Olympics come to Chicago. I don't know what "in the shadows" means, but it probably means that the Olympics Village would have been at least close enough to Grove Parc to help the area - because Valerie Jarret's management skills could not.

Jarrett is the chief executive of Habitat Co., which managed Grove Parc Plaza from 2001 until this winter [2008] and co-managed an even larger subsidized complex in Chicago that was seized by the federal government in 2006, after city inspectors found widespread problems.

 Not surprising Jarrett needed an "ethics waiver."

George Stephanopoulous asks Valerie Jarrett, known as the other side of Barack Obama's brain, if the president "bears" any "responsibility for the failure to get Republican votes" for the health care bill. Jarrett has a lot to say about Obama's bipartianship. See video below.

Stephanopoulous, host of ABC's This Week with George Stephanopoulous cites the polls and says that "the partisan divide persists on issue after issue after issue," and then asks what responsibility Obama bears for not bringing the parties together for health care reform.

Jarrett cannot answer the question about responsibility, because this is a concept foreign to this White House,  but she has plenty to say about how Obama has "been forthcoming," "is constantly reaching out to Republicans," how he "is known for listening most closely to those with whom he disagrees," and the best one, the president "has been consistent not just here, domestically, but also around the world in the way he has reached out."

But, Stephanopoulous says, he has not included "their ideas in the legislation." Well, that's not true, Ms. Jarrett says. She obviously cannnot name one, because she doesn't. "Ultimately, whether they vote for [the bill] or not, doesn't mean that it hasn't been an open and fruitful process."

The question is, what kind of fruit will this thorny bush bear?

Jarrett ends with "the President is accountable to the Republican people -- to the American people, sorry." Fox News Michael Clemente Robert Gibbs Meet Privately

You know I hate this. No meetings between Fox and Robert Gibbs. How about complete separation of news and the White House? - except for the White House Correspondents Dinner. Just love those. Apparently, Michael Clemente and Robert Gibbs met and the question is: has a truce been reached?

This report says that Fox News Channel's Senior V-P, Michael Clemente, and White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs met in Gibbs' office in Washington, D.C. "Gibbs reached out to Clemente...." Nevertheless:

A Fox source said that the marching orders are to “continue doing what we’re doing – reporting the news, asking tough questions and providing analysis/opinion on shows like O’Reilly, Beck and Hannity.”

That's good news.

A U.S. News and World Report article quotes the White House:

"They're still at it," says a senior Obama aide, who adds that White House officials don't expect to fire another shot in the battle unless FOX strikes first."

There is no indication in U.S. News and World report that a meeting between Clemente and Gibbs occurred.

Valerie Jarrett, the other half of Barack's brain was interviewed on CNN. When Campbell Brown asked Jarrett if she thought Fox News was biased, Jarrett replied,  "of course Fox is biased," but she and the other half of her brain plan to keep speaking "truth to power." Her message was hilariously mixed. When Ms. Brown rewinds the tape, she'll find she let a good opportunity go to waste, although I give her credit for asking Jarrett the "biased' question twice. CNN's Campbell Brown interviewed Valerie Jarrett this week. Jarrett said the Obama administration just wants the truth to get to the people. Just as George W. Bush was the "decider-in-chief," so will Barack Obama decide what is truthful and what is not. See video below.

Valerie Jarrett, known as the other-side of Barack Obama's brain, told CNN's Campbell Brown that FOX News "distorts the truth,"  "is biased," lies about health care reform.

Brown asked if Jarrett also believes MSNBC is biased, and Jarrett would not answer the question. Brown calls her on it twice. Toward the end of the video, Jarrett made the claim that people should be able to "reach their own judgments," yet she says we are short on time and the administration will "cut through the nonsense," and speak "truth to power." On your behalf and mine, this administration will be the decider about what information is available to us, as we our make "judgements."

Valerie Jarretts Olympic Village Debacle: Valerie Jarrett Olympic Connection

Tony Rezko, the important Obama fundraiser and home financier currently in prison for fraud and bribery:

...used subsidies to rehabilitate more than 1,000 apartments, mostly in and around Obama's district, then refused to manage the units, leaving the buildings to decay to the point where many no longer were habitable. Campaign finance records show that six prominent developers - including Jarrett, Davis, and Rezko - collectively contributed more than $175,000 to Obama's campaigns over the last decade and raised hundreds of thousands more from other donors. Rezko alone raised at least $200,000, by Obama's own accounting.

Poor Valerie Jarrett. She can't catch a break. Puma Eyes reports that Grove Parc Apartment project, managed by Jarrett's Habitat Company, received a grade of 11 out of 100 from federal inspectors. By the way, Valerie Jarrett sits on the Board of that leftist foundation mentioned above.

Community organizing gone bad. Grove Parc is said to be located "in the shadows" of the proposed Olympic Village, had the Olympics come to Chicago. Did I mention that the Olympics are not coming to Chicago?

As a state senator, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee coauthored an Illinois law creating a new pool of tax credits for developers. As a US senator, he pressed for increased federal subsidies. And as a presidential candidate, he has campaigned on a promise to create an Affordable Housing Trust Fund that could give developers an estimated $500 million a year.

Valerie Jarrett BFF with Michelle and Barack took over management of Grove Parc in 2001 until sometime in 2008. The facility is located in the district that Barack Obama represented as an Illinois State Senator. The Boston Globe says the apartments are "for people who can't afford to live anywhere else." Good grief!

I'd love to hear from Jarrett and Obama how such extreme devastation in a neighborhood can happen. Were the people living in Grove Parc just destructive and dirty? Did they devastate their own homes? Hmmmmm? Or did Jarrett and friends neglect the properties? Hmmmmm? What's the story? I know we don't like to blame people these days, but...I'm just saying... Boston.com has a nine-page stranger-than-fiction accounting of Valerie Jarrett and Barack Obama's roles in Chicago's failed government subsidized housing. Hundreds of apartments built...hundreds of apartments fallen into disrepair...some rendered unlivable by the Government - some seized by the Government.
