Quote of the Day Scott Brown: Massachusetts Brown Its Not the Kennedy Seat, Its the Peoples Seat

Scott Brown (R-Mass), running for the U.S. Senate, takes an opportunity that must come up hundreds of times a day in the state> (see a video below)

"with all due respect, it is not the Kennedy seat and it is not the Democrat seat, it is the people's seat."
I haven't written about Brown thus far, but I have read a lot, and contributed to his campaign - even though I'm out here in the mid-south heartland. The election is just days away, so below the video you'll find links to some good information on the man - including the fact that Brown drives a truck with 200,000 miles on it.

Scott Brown (D-Mass) "It's the people's seat" (video)

The video above is courtesy of Vanderleun at The American Digest, who said of the comment "with all due respect, it is not the Kenney seat and it is not the Democrat seat, it is the people's seat:"

How golden is this phrase? Let's just say it's the equivalent of finding a nugget the size of a donkey's scrotum on your first day in the gold fields...and...let a thousand billboards bloom!

A snippet from Mass Resistance:
On the Tom and Todd show this morning (WRKO AM680), Bill Hudak (Republican candidate for Mass. Sixth Congressional Dist., North Shore) called in with a great anecdote on the Brown-Coakley debate last night.
Maine Police have endorsed Scott Brown, but Democrats will delay election certification to keep the critical vote against health care from bringing down Obama's house. Read the details at Frugal Cafe Blog Zone.

This from Opus 6 at MAINFO via geeeeeZ. Donation information here and this plea:
Fight the SEIU and Demcare corruption. Help do the job the national GOP fund-raising organizations won’t do. Support Scott Brown for Senate, Even if you don't Live in Massachusetts.

Sistertoldjah talks about why Sarah Palin would support Scott Brown, a Massachusetts centrist . A commenter there says "we want to change it from a THRONE to a seat!

Solomonia has Scott Brown's position on Israel and believes "supports of Israel will love it."

Nice Deb has more details on the debate last night - the one where Brown makes it clear the Senate seat is not "the Kennedy seat," and when he responded to Martha Coakley:
Coakley criticized Brown for supporting Bush-era tax cuts for higher-income people, saying, “He wants to go back to those Bush-Cheney policies that provide for the very wealthiest.”
Brown retorted, “You can run against Bush-Cheney, but I’m Scott Brown. I live in Wrentham. I drive a truck. And, yes, it’s 200,000 miles on it now. You’re not running against them. You’re running against me.”
No Quarter points out that the Boston Herald has endorsed Brown, and made this comment intheir endorsement:
Are they content with a sweeping health care bill, now being negotiated behind closed doors by principals from only one political party? (So much for a new era of bipartisanship promised by our president.)

And are they prepared for the impact that bill will have on the health care industry in our own state, where we already insure 97 percent of our population.
MAF Freedom PAC endorses Brown:
"Scott Brown has been committed to our troops and demonstrated that he understands the importance of our missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is a veteran of the U.S Army National Guard where he holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel."
“Martha Coakley doesn’t understand our troops; she doesn’t understand our mission; and like Obama seems to value the terrorist’s rights even more than our own national security. She believes they should be given the constitutional rights that only a U.S citizen deserves!”
TeresaAmerica takes the Brown-Coakley debate about national security a step further and notes Coakley's frequent discomfort when up against a tough issue:
I hope that her displaying emotions of being irritated when forced to answer tough questions from her opposition negatively impacts her campaign. If her feathers get ruffled whenever she is challenged by her opposition maybe she shouldn't be in the political arena.
And Flopping Aces says "Holy Crap! Scott Brown is Soaring. Take a look at the the $1 million dollars raised in ONE DAY.

Take heart conservatives, people just like you and I are supporting conservatism around the country, and that support is making a difference.

Senate Healthcare Poll: Conservative Voters Needed

CNN has a new poll up: Do you want the Senate to pass its health care bill? Conservative voters needed. See poll on right, half-way down the page. h/t Nearly Nobody's News.

Just above the health care poll is a poll asking: How do you feel about Obama's job performance? I voted and was shocked to see the results. Out of 47 votes, there was one vote each for "approve," "strongly approve," and "disapprove." "Strongly disapprove received 44 votes or 93% of the vote.

The senate health care approval vote is leading with voters wanting the bill to pass the Senate. I think it is reasonable to assume that some of the same voters, voted in both polls.

It's an interesting dynamic that people want what they think will be a free benefit, yet understand that the man trying to force this on liberty-loving Americans is doing so through un-American legislation.

Michael Mukasey Gerald Walpin: Mukasey Walpin Fired Illegally: Obama Fired Walpin Illegally

Former Attorney General and federal judge, General Michael Mukasey said President Barack Obama "violated" the the law when he fired Inspector General Gerald Walpin without following Senate statutes.

General Michael Mukasey

As background, IG Walpin investigated AmeriCorp and found they misused $75 million of  taxpayer funds. That's not all, he implicated Obama's friend and former NBA star, Kevin Johnson who is currently the Mayor of Sacramento, California for diverting funds from AmeriCorp and more. Walpin's report went to Congress, the White House [counsel Greg Craig] telephoned Walpin and gave him one hour to resign or be fired. Walpin refused to resign. The reason for the firing given by the White House: Obama lost confidence in Walpin. That ridiculous statement does not meet Senate statutes.

This week we learned that an ethics committee has investigated Gerald Walpin's actions and cleared him of overstepping his authority. Walpin has sued and wants his job back.

Back to Mukasey: Speaking at the Federalist Society Walpin was asked to introduce the General. Here's what Mukasey had to say:
"Gerry served as an inspector general until he was not only unceremoniously, but in any reasonable view of the law, unlawfully removed from that position, something he has chosen not to suffer but to fight, as he usually does against injustice," Mukasey declared.
Mukasey praised Walpin for his lawsuit challenging his firing and noted that the former IG is pursuing the case "at considerable expense to himself but, I would add, with the support of his friends."
Back in June when Walpin was fired for doing his job a bit too well, and a bit too inconveniently for Barack Obama, who is exceedingly fond of AmeriCorp, many came to the defense of the Inspector General:
A letter signed by a former Republican U.S. attorney general, a former Democratic White House Counsel, and 144 other prominent lawyers is challenging the White House’s claim that fired AmeriCorps Inspector General Gerald Walpin was “confused” and “disoriented."

“We have known Gerald Walpin as a leading member of the New York bar for many years,” said the letter signed by former Bush Attorney General Michael Mukasey and former Clinton White House Counsel Bernard Nussbaum. “Many of us have seen him and heard him speak, including at this month’s meeting of the Second Circuit Judicial Conference and last week’s meeting of the Board of the Federal Bar Council.”
A tidbit of news broke on this story yesterday: An "agency" directed by the White House, erroneously e-mailed White House documents to the acting Inspector General, Kenneth Bach, who took Walpin's place. Thirteen minutes later, an "agency" spokeswoman emailed Bach, said those documents were not to come to you, please shred immediately and let me know when you have complied. Bach followed the orders! and did the shredding! The documents pertained to Gerald Walpin's firing.

This is a case that should interest all Americans. We have Inspectors General for a reason. They do not work for the White House, for a reason. IGs are apolitical. They "inspect" government agencies. They look for waste, theft, fraud and misconduct of any kind. In this case Gerald Walpin did his job in an excellent manner, and his efforts should have saved taxpayers huge sums of money. The White House handling of Mr. Walpin is shameful. Congress needs to fix it, because this process is broken.

Lindsay Graham Glenn Beck Rush: Angry White Guys Obama Lite: Lindsay Graham Center-Lite

Lindsay Graham must drive the good conservative people of South Carolina crazy. What do conservatives do about Lindsay Graham? He is a loose cannon bouncing around the halls of Congress, leaving the evidence of "good-ole-boys networking" on the pristine walls of conservatism. See videos below.

How do South Carolinians get him out of the Senate with the GOP funding him? I do not vote in South Carolina, but we assume, just for a minute, that conservatives there would like to replace Lindsay Graham, how does a new voice get heard? I wish I knew the answer.

I give Lindsay Graham credit in many areas. He is strong on the defense of the country and the military, he protects the rights of the unborn, he is mixed on energy, he supported Rep. Joe Wilson in a magnificent way, but he wrong on growing the Republican party. He doesn't have a clue how most conservatives think about the core of the party.

The video is Glenn Beck's latest clip and commentary of Senator Grahamnesty. Keep in mind that Graham has bashed Beck and Limbaugh on Keith Olberman. Graham just doesn't understand how a man (Beck) can make so much money for simply "crying."

Zembiac - The Lion of Fallujah and Today's Progress in Iraq

Marine Capt. [later promoted to Major] Douglas Zembiec, the commanding officer of Company E, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, gives orders to his men over a radio prior to leaving their secured compound for a short patrol in Fallujah, Iraq, April 8, 2004. The company entered Fallujah on April 6 to begin the effort of destroying enemy held up in the city. Zembiec was killed in action May 10, 2007. He was 34 years old. Photo by Sgt. Jose E. Guillen

The DoD reports that Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates paid tribute to the fallen Lion of Fallujah, Major Douglas Zembiec, at this week's Marine Corps Association's annual dinner in Arlington, Va.

Major Zembiec was a Marine Captain when he first led the men of Company E, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, into the hell of Fallujah, Iraq.

Zembiec’s battalion operations officer described him as someone who ‘goes out every day and creates menacing dilemmas for the enemy.’ A newspaper profile at the time described him as a ‘balding, gregarious man who, in glasses, looks like a high school science teacher.
Captain Zembiec rotated back to the States, was promoted to Major and was increasingly agitated to get back to the battle of his time. He did go back and on May 10, 2007, he was killed in action at the age of 34.

Marine Gunnery Sgt. Mark Oliva posted an intensely personal account of Major Zembiec. There are many heroic stories of our fallen heroes, but Major Zembiec journaled...he journaled often...and so he left behind more than just a few words for his family and friends.
“Teach. Mentor. Give something back to society” Zembiec’s message in his journal continued. “Lead from the front. Conquer your fears. Be a good friend. Be humble and self-confident. Appreciate your friends and family. Be a leader and not a follower. Be valorous on the field of battle and tale responsibility for your actions.”
Read Gunnery Sgt. Oliva's full account the Lion of Fallujah here.

As the valorous deeds of Major Zembiec, and others like him, are remembered minute-by-minute by family, friends and peers, others like them fight-on in the Iraq surge.

Kimberly Kagan, Executive Director of the Institute for the Study of War in Washington, D.C. says that the "surge" is working. Writing for the Wall Street Journal, July 11th, 2007, Kagan refers to Congress' perception that the "new strategy" has already failed:
This isn't an accurate reflection of what is happening on the ground, as I saw during my visit to Iraq in May. Reports from the field show that remarkable progress is being made. Violence in Baghdad and Anbar Province is down dramatically, grassroots political movements have begun in the Sunni Arab community, and American and Iraqi forces are clearing al Qaeda fighters and Shiite militias out of long-established bases around the country.

This is remarkable because the military operation that is making these changes possible only began in full strength on June 15. To say that the surge is failing is absurd....
Kagan recounts the al-Qaeda successes in Iraq between 2004 and 2006 and then says this:
Today, Iraq is a different place from what it was six months ago. U.S. and Iraqi forces began their counterinsurgency campaign in Baghdad in February. They moved into the neighborhoods and worked side-by-side with Baghdadis. As a result, sectarian violence is down. The counterinsurgency strategy has dramatically decreased Shiite death squad activity in the capital. Furthermore, U.S. and Iraqi special forces have removed many rogue militia leaders and Iranian advisers from Sadr City and other locations, reducing the power of militias.
The MSM continues to fuel the single-minded, simple-viewed philosopies of the Code-Pinker-types of the Left, with images that JUST are a part of war.

What the MSM doesn't get is that most of us are not Code-Pinker-types, or Jane-Fonda-types and by media focusing on Abu Graib, civilian deaths and sectarian violence, we staid, strong, judicious and yes, I'll say it, visionary thinkers are well able to put the events of Iraq into perspective, sad and frightening though that perspective is at times.

Like it or not, Ms. Kagan is only one of many reports detailing positive change:
The larger aim of the new strategy is creating an opportunity for Iraq's leaders to negotiate a political settlement. These negotiations are underway. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is attempting to form a political coalition with Amar al-Hakim and Kurdish political leaders, but excluding Moqtada al-Sadr, and has invited Sunnis to participate. He has confronted Moqtada al-Sadr for promoting illegal militia activity, and has apparently prompted this so-called Iraqi nationalist to leave for Iran for the second time since January.
Provincial and local government is growing stronger. Local and tribal leaders in Anbar, Diyala, Salah ad-Din, North Babil and even Baghdad have agreed to fight insurgents and terrorists as U.S. forces have moved in to secure the population alongside their Iraqi partners. As a result, the number of Iraqis recruited for the police forces, in particular, has risen exponentially since 2006.
Meanwhile, back home on the Hill today, Senator Joe Biden, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, spoke by video transmission with America's Ambassador to Iraq, Ryan Crocker:
We’re not staying,[said Biden]...You don’t have much time.

President Eisenhower Put Americans First and Closed the Borders

President Dwight Eisenhower championed legal immigration, and his benevolence toward those wanting a homeland in America is an important part of his legacy.

In a March 1960 address to Congress he said this:

The names of those who make important contributions in the fields of science, law, and almost every other field of endeavor indicate that there has been no period in which the immigrants to this country have not richly rewarded it for its liberality in receiving them.
He proposed doubling the quota of 154,000 immigrants then accepted into the U.S. He encouraged accepting larger numbers of those fleeing from oppression:
This year has been designated World Refugee Year. The United States and sixty-eight other nations have joined together in an attempt to seek permanent solutions for the problems of these peoples. Nations who in the past have granted entry to the victims of political or religious persecutions have never had cause to regret extending such asylum. These persons with their intellectual idealism and toughness will become worthwhile citizens and will keep this nation strong and respected as a contributor of thought and ideals.
He spoke of the "Liberalization of some of our existing restrictions upon immigration," but let's time travel back to the early 1950's as he geared up for his first Presidential campaign. Illegal immigration was heavy on his mind.

John Dillin, writing in first person for The Christian Science Monitor, spoke of an interview with Eisenhower's first attorney general, Herbert Brownell Jr., years after Eisenhower left office.
America "was faced with a breakdown in law enforcement on a very large scale," Mr. Brownell said. "When I say large scale, I mean hundreds of thousands were coming in from Mexico [every year] without restraint."
Dillin reports that President Eisenhower had a "sense of urgency about illegal immigration" when he took office.

In 1951 Senator William Fulbright (D-AR) proposed a special Congressional commission to:
examine unethical conduct by government officials who accepted gifts and favors in exchange for special treatment of private individuals.
"General" Eisenhower responded to Fulbright with his approval of such a commission and publically quoted a New York Times article:
"The rise in illegal border-crossing by Mexican(s) [snip] to a current rate of more than 1,000,000 cases a year has been accompanied by a curious relaxation in ethical standards extending all the way from the farmer-exploiters of this contraband labor to the highest levels of the Federal Government."
Eisenhower won the Presidency and acted quickly, according to Dillin:
As many as 3 million illegal migrants had walked and waded northward over a period of several years for jobs in California, Arizona, Texas, and points beyond.
President Eisenhower cut off this illegal traffic. He did it quickly and decisively with only 1,075 United States Border Patrol agents - less than one-tenth of today's force. The operation is still highly praised among veterans of the Border Patrol.
Profits from illegal labor led to the kind of corruption that apparently worried Eisenhower. Joseph White, a retired 21-year veteran of the Border Patrol, says that in the early 1950s, some senior US officials overseeing immigration enforcement "had friends among the ranchers," and agents "did not dare" arrest their illegal workers.
Officials with an agenda? Sound familiar? "So there's nothing new under the sun " except four very important facts:

1) In the early '50's, there were 3 million illegals. Today there's 12-20 million illegals with a population of 300 million, with more flooding in each day - and they are more determined than ever to encroach, as responsible Americans hold strong for closed borders.

2) In the '50's, illegals were not on our welfare rolls, were not stealing our social security numbers, were not flooding our hospitals, were not flooding our schools, were not receive loans for housing, were not hanging our flag upside down with the American flag below Mexico, and they were not protected by Liberals, whether Democrat or Republican.

3) The illegal "vote" did not exist.

4) We had a President determined to close the border and rid the government of corrupt officials.

President Eisenhower cut off this illegal traffic. He did it quickly and decisively with only 1,075 United States Border Patrol agents - less than one-tenth of today's force. The operation is still highly praised among veterans of the Border Patrol.
Eisenhower appointed a former West Point classmate and veteran of the 101st Airborne, General Joe Swing to head the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). Swing swung into action and almost before the bureaucrats knew what was happening, "entrenched immigration officials" were on their way out of border areas "where their political connections" with influential Senators could no longer impede border safety.
By September, 80,000 had been taken into custody in Texas, and an estimated 500,000 to 700,000 illegals had left the Lone Star State voluntarily.
Mexican nationals were returned by bus or train, deep into Mexico where making it back to the U.S. border was not an easy trip. Tens of thousands...tens of thousands!
Tens of thousands more were put aboard two hired ships...
According to Dillin, the sea journey was not pleasant. The intimation was that most of these "tens of thousands" would not want to make the same trip again. Perhaps they stayed home in Mexico.

Asserting that the United States cannot secure our borders, without accepting 12-20 million illegals via a Z-Visa, is complete political spin for the gain of the politicians casting the 'yea' vote.

Read how President Bill Clinton and Vice-President Al Gore manuevered to legalize hundreds of thousands of illegals to invade our voter's booths.

U.S. Citizens Disqualified from the Work Force: Goal of Immigration Lawyers

h/t to Jim Simpson of Truth & Consequences for posting a link to this revealing video this morning at Maggie's Notebook. In the meantime, the embed link has become available.

The video shows a seminar hosted May 2007 by the law firm of Cohen and Grigsby.
As you'll hear in the video, the seminar instructs employers how to lawfully weed-out job applications submitted by legal citizens, and hire only illegal aliens attempting to qualify for a green card.
"...the goal is clearly not to find any qualified U.S. workers - the objective is to get a person a green card."

Honestly, how can these people, in their spiffy business attire, face themselves in the mirror? Clearly, they have enjoyed the bountiful benefits of this country's work opportunities, but they spend their days denying the same to their fellow Americans.

Note: Early-on in the video a speaker is announced: Jen Peck. She is bloody boring to listen to. Just get past her and you'll get the message.

The goal right now is to kill Senate Bill 1639. Look through the links below for substantial information on the impact of this bill on America. We have only a few days left, if that. As you read though the material, look for information on the cloture vote, which ends the debate about the Bill. This vote is the key...no matter what your Senator tells you. It is believed that once the vote passes to end the debate, a few Republican Senators will be "allowed" to vote "no" on the actual Bill so that they will continue to receive 2008 election campaign funding from lobbyists. The Senate knows, however, that these "no" votes are not enough to keep the Bill from passing. America needs your voice this week. See links below to find your Senator's contact information and send free faxes without a fax machine.

Desert Fatigues: Diplomacy with the Sheikhs

"...Anbar has joined the fight against terror," say Senator Joe Lieberman, (I-CT). Astounding words. Democrats must hate it. Drat! there's good news out there and we can't squash it - it's coming from one of our own.

Only a few months ago, Anbar was considered one of the most, if not the most, dangerous fights in Iraq.

Senator Lieberman:

When I last visited Anbar in December, the U.S. military would not allow me to visit the provincial capital, Ramadi, because it was too dangerous. Anbar was one of al Qaeda's major strongholds in Iraq and the region where the majority of American casualties were occurring. A few months earlier, the Marine Corps chief of intelligence in Iraq had written off the entire province as "lost," while the Iraq Study Group described the situation there as "deteriorating."

When I returned to Anbar on this trip, however, the security environment had undergone a dramatic reversal.
Lieberman reports that diplomacy in Anbar has been a key. Col. John Charlton, commander of the 1st Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division says:
We meet with the sheikhs every single day and at every single level.
Diplomacy in desert fatigues...forget the three-piece suit. Condoleeza, don't bother. Wouldn't you love to see a list of the "real" recommendations from our commanders on the ground, in the air and at sea? I'm not intimating that these commanders would want to blow away Iraq and be done with it. Quite the contrary. I believe they are capable of making a quicker fight of it, a cleaner fight of it, and would have "held the fort" with might and humanity.

Fred Thompson and CAIR

Cross Posted from Wake up America, thanks Maggie for letting me share this with your readers. Hat Tip to our contributor and blog writer Snooper from Freedom Ain't Free and Take our country back blogs for the link to Thompson's words about CAIR. First off, you might notice we have done a few pieces on Fred Thompson, as well as being part of a blogroll for Fred and having a contribute button on the left sidebar. The only way to decide whether or not to endorse him when the time comes is to listen to what he has to say, check his voting record and when the times comes, make the decision, so as I hear and watch him, I bring his words to you also because in 2008, you also will be making the decision of who to vote for. First, lets look at what Thompson had to say about CAIR, then I am going to show you CAIR's extensive history as well as the documented proof of his terror ties.

I've talked before about the Council on American-Islamic Relations -- most recently because it filed that lawsuit against Americans who reported suspicious behavior by Muslims on a U.S. Airways flight. Better known just as CAIR, the lobbying group has come under a lot of scrutiny lately for its connections to terror-supporting groups. This time, though, The Washington Times has uncovered some very good news about the group. For years, CAIR has claimed to represent millions of American Muslims. In fact, they claim to represent more Muslim in American than ... there are in America. This has alarmed Americans in general as the group often seems to be more aligned with our enemies than us -- which isn't surprising as it spun off from a group funded by Hamas. As you know, Hamas has been waging a terrorist war against Israel and calls for its total destruction. It also promises to see America destroyed. Nowadays, Hamas is busy murdering its Palestinian political rivals. Even with this history, and CAIR's conspicuous failure to condemn Hamas by name, it has been treated as if represents Muslim Americans by our own government. The good news is that the financial support CAIR claims to have among American Muslims is a myth. We know this because The Washington Times got hold of the group's IRS tax records. CAIR's dues-paying membership has shrunk 90 percent since 9/11 -- from 29,000 in 2000 to only 1,700 last year. CAIR's annual income from dues plunged from $733,000 to $59,000. Clearly, America's Muslims are not supporting this group -- and I'm happy to hear about it. Of course, every silver lining seems to have a cloud; and this cloud is that CAIR's spending is running about $3 million a year. They’ve opened 25 new chapters in major cities across the country even as their dues shrank to a pittance. The question is; who’s funding CAIR? CAIR's not saying. The New York Times earlier this year reported that the backing is from "wealthy Persian Gulf governments" including the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Obviously, we have a bigger problem here than the one with CAIR.
One of the things I am beginning to appreciate about Fred Thompson is he says what needs to be said without regard to "political correctness". Everyone is so damn scared to speak the truth if it might offend someone that too much is being left unsaid. That is dangerous and unacceptable. Our Previous post, written by Snooper talks a bit about the Muslim Brotherhood and Keith Ellison and I am going to expand on that a bit. NOW, a little history abut CAIR and Keith Ellison's links to CAIR, previously shown to you here.
Jump forward to today now. Does everybody remember the Flying Imam incident? Where six Imams were removed from a plane for acting suspiciously, praying loudy (which is what CAIR focused on), asking for seat belt extensions and then placing them at their feet instead of using them, speaking in a manner than when translated showed complete anti-American, Pro Saddam Hussein rhetoric and placing themselves in a seating arrangement exactly like the 9/11 terrorists did before those fateful crashes. Ellison also took part in "Community Night" with Imam Siraj Wahhaj, and Imam Dr. Omar Shahin. This was “for Imams to meet and interact with community members.” Some of the participants of this meeting became involved in the Flying Imams controversy after being removed from an Arizona bound plane for concerning behavior. Ellison became involved in this controversy shortly after it erupted when he attempted to arrange a meeting between parties including US Airways executives, the Metropolitan Airports Commission, and other legislators and community members. Questions about Shahin surfaced in July 2005, when author and terrorism investigator Steven Emerson, author of "Jihad Incorporated: A Guide to Militant Islam in the U.S.," mentioned him in testimony before the U.S. Senate Banking Committee investigating the financing of terrorists. Emerson identified Shahin as a fundraiser for KindHearts, a Toledo-based Muslim charity that has been a subject of federal scrutiny for suspected links to terror-related groups in the Mideast. Emerson also noted Shahin's work as an imam for the Islamic Center of Tucson, which, he said, "has an extensive history of terror links." Okay, so lets give Ellison the benefit of doubt once again and chalk his connection with Shahnin and the Nation of Islam up to coincedence or bad judgment. [...] Since its founding in 1994, the Council on American-Islamic Relations and its employees have combined, conspired, and agreed with third parties, including, but not limited to, the Islamic Association for Palestine (“IAP”), the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (“HLF”), the Global Relief Foundation (“GRF”), and foreign nationals hostile to the interests of the United States, to provide material support to known terrorist organizations, to advance the Hamas agenda, and to propagate radical Islam. The Council on American-Islamic Relations, and certain of its officers, directors, and employees, have acted in support of, and in furtherance of, this conspiracy. Senior CAIR employee Randall Todd Royer, a/k/a “Ismail” Royer, pled guilty and was sentenced to twenty years in prison for participating in a network of militant jihadists centered in Northern Virginia. He admitted to aiding and abetting three persons who sought training in a terrorist camp in Pakistan for the purpose of waging jihad against American troops in Afghanistan. Royer’s illegal actions occurred while he was employed with CAIR. CAIR's Director of Community Relations, Bassem Khafagi , was arrested by the United States due to his ties with a terror-financing front group. Khafagi pled guilty to charges of visa and bank fraud, and agreed to be deported to Egypt. Khafagi’s illegal actions occurred while he was employed by CAIR. On December 18, 2002, Ghassan Elashi, founding board member of CAIR-Texas, a founder of the Holy Land Foundation, and a brother-in-law of Musa Abu Marzook , was arrested by the United States and charged with, among other things, making false statements on export declarations, dealing in the property of a designated terrorist organization, conspiracy and money laundering. Ghassan Elashi committed his crimes while working at CAIR, and was found Guilty. CAIR Board Member Imam Siraj Wahaj, an un-indicted co-conspirator in the first World Trade Center bombing, has called for replacing the American government with an Islamic caliphate, and warned that America will crumble unless it accepts Islam. Consistent with Hamas ideology, CAIR has served as a conduit for the distribution of materials and funds from foreign nationals to groups and institutions within the United States for the purpose of promoting radical Islam and Hamas ideology, and attacked Islamic clerics and scholars who reject radical Islam and the Hamas agenda. Siraj Wahaj and Omar Shahin were both part of that "community night" that Ellison took part in. Both also involved with the incident on the plane and all three involved with CAIR. Yet another coincedence? OK, sure...lets call that a coincedence too, shall we? Now we have two separate controversial events that happened after that "community night" meeting. One the flying Imams, then we have Ellison deciding to use the Koran for his swearing in, at a time when our country is at war with extremists that are using the Koran in a perverted way to justify killing innocent people. Another coincedence? You decide. What about Ellison's "association" with CAIR? The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) was an ardent supporter of Ellison’s 2006 campaign, a fact that caused some controversy (see below). Two days after the 2006 election, CAIR announced Ellison would be a keynote speaker at their annual banquet in Virginia less than two weeks later. According to a CAIR press release, this would be Ellison's first major post-election address. On November 13, 2006 the Star Tribune reported Ellison said he “would not be the keynote speaker at the annual banquet for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)”. Acknowledging that “His appearance had already been announced by CAIR…Ellison said it [the apparently mistaken announcement] was the result of a ‘natural, normal miscommunication.’” Though Ellison was not able to attend the event in person he sent a videotaped address. Now, to be fair, Ellison's associations with the Nation of Islam and CAIR could just be very bad judgment, his timing with his controversial decision to use the Koran at his swearing in ceremony could also be chalked up to bad judgement. But everything together, the connection to the Imams that were removed from the plane, the CAIR invovement, the Nation of Islam involvement, the fact that two VERY controversial incidents happened after that "community night" meeting and the fact that all of the above had some form of involvement with CAIR, all together has to make one stop and say hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Ok, bad judgment at the very least. That isn't the only time Ellison has shown bad judgment though, nope, not at all. We then have his campaign finance violations: Campaign finance has also been an issue for Ellison. In early 2006, the Minnesota State Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board reprimanded Ellison for unreported contributions, discrepancies in cash balances, and misclassified disbursements. These transgressions occurred in the years 2002-2004. In 2005 when the board tried to get more information about the problems in Ellison's reports, they got no response from Ellison or his treasurer (his wife Kim). When the board heard nothing, they opened the investigation. Ellison was subpoenaed and fined. The board has also fined Ellison numerous times for late filings, been sued twice by the attorney general, and has been warned many times for absent or incomplete disclosure. (Source) Ellison also failed to pay all or part of his income taxes five separate years between 1992 and 2000, forcing the state and Internal Revenue Service to put liens on his home. He later paid in excess of $18,000. This man certainly has his fair share of bad judgment doesn't he? An awful lot of coincedences too. There is much, much more out there, available at our fingertips, just by using the search engine. Makes one wonder why everyone is so quiet about this man.....are they scared that it may not be "politically correct" to bring up issues about this man, simply because he is a Muslim? Have we become so PC that justified questions are not asked simply because of a mans religion? If this was a non-Muslim politician, Democrat OR Republican, would these things NOT have become major stumbling blocks to their career? Legitimate questions all....anyone have any answers?
Anyone at all? Didn't think so. In a related article today, we have a Muslim women telling us a few things that offend her, and it isn't what you would expect so please read the whole piece, I am only showing excerpts.(Emphasis will be mine)
GROWING up in Vancouver, I attended an Islamic school every Saturday. There, I learned that Jews can't be trusted because they worship "moolah, not Allah", meaning money, not God. According to my teacher, every last Jew is consumed with business. But looking around my neighbourhood, I noticed that most of the new business signs featured Asian languages: Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Punjabi and plenty of Urdu. Not Hebrew, Urdu, which is spoken throughout Pakistan. That reality check made me ask: What if my religious school isn't educating me? What if it's indoctrinating me? I'm reminded of this question thanks to the news that Salman Rushdie, author of The Satanic Verses and 10 other works of fiction, will be knighted by the Queen. On Monday, Pakistan's religious affairs minister said that because Rushdie had blasphemed Islam with provocative literature, it was understandable that angry Muslims would commit suicide bombings over his knighthood. Members of parliament, as well as the Pakistani Government, amplified the condemnation of Britain, feeding cries of offence to Muslim sensibilities from Europe to Asia. As a Muslim, you better believe I'm offended - by these absurd reactions.
She then goes on to list things that offend her:
I'm offended that it is not the first time honours from the West have met with vitriol and violence. In 1979, Pakistani physicist Abdus Salam became the first Muslim to win the Nobel Prize in science. He began his acceptance speech with a verse from the Koran. Salam's country ought to have celebrated him. Instead, rioters tried to prevent him from re-entering the country. Parliament even declared him a non-Muslim because he belonged to a religious minority. His name continues to be controversial, invoked by state authorities in hushed tones. I'm offended that every year, there are more women killed in Pakistan for allegedly violating their family's honour than there are detainees at Guantanamo Bay. Muslims have rightly denounced the mistreatment of Gitmo prisoners. But where's our outrage over the murder of many more Muslims at the hands of our own? I'm offended that in April, mullahs at an extreme mosque in Pakistan issued a fatwa against hugging. The country's female tourism minister had embraced - or, depending on the account you follow, accepted a congratulatory pat from - her skydiving instructor after she successfully jumped in a French fundraiser for the victims of the 2005 Pakistan earthquake. Clerics announced her act of touching another man to be "a great sin" and demanded she be fired. I'm offended by their fatwa proclaiming that women should stay at home and remain covered at all times. I'm offended that they've bullied music store owners and video vendors into closing up shop. I'm offended that the Government tiptoes around their craziness because these clerics threaten suicide attacks if confronted. I'm offended that on Sunday, at least 35 Muslims in Kabul were blown to bits by other Muslims and on Tuesday, 80 more in Baghdad by Islamic "insurgents", with no official statement from Pakistan to deplore these assaults on fellow believers. I'm offended that amid the internecine carnage, a professed atheist named Salman Rushdie tops the to-do list. Above all, I'm offended that so many other Muslims are not offended enough to demonstrate widely against God's self-appointed ambassadors. We complain to the world that Islam is being exploited by fundamentalists, yet when reckoning with the opportunity to resist their clamour en masse, we fall curiously silent. In a battle between flaming fundamentalists and mute moderates, who do you think is going to win?
Read the rest... Moderate Muslims are our friends and I have shown multiple instances where Moderate Muslims have stepped up, risking their very lives, to speak out against the radical extremists that have hijacked their faith for murder and suicide bombings and killing innocent men, women and children. More need to do so though and we cannot let "political correctness" stop us from speaking the truth for fear that we "may" offend someone. That type of mindset is what will get us killed. A MUST READ piece from Debbie at Right Truth called "Some turning against Israel - is the answer a healthy dose of neutron bombs?". Go. Read. It is well worth the time.

Twenty Dishonorable Loopholes in the Senate Immigration Bill

UPDATE: The new Senate Immigration Bill s.1369 appears to include paying World War II reparations to “Certain Persons.” The text, hidden in the middle of the massive tome, can be read here: Immigration Bill Will Pay WWII Reparations to Alien Residents. I suggest you read John Fonte’s piece in National Review Online for details before going to the long, long text of the Bill: Raindrops Keep Falling. The question: what else is lurking in the Bill that our Senate is not talking about?

Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) is one of the strongest Senate warriors against the Senate Immigration Reform bill. He has published twenty loopholes that place this bill in the category of a scheme (italicised - my words - my opinion).

When you call your Senator this week, be ready to battle. You may be told: We changed the bill to address your concerns. It's a "new" bill with a "new" number assigned to it. Don't buy it! Ask direct questions that require a "yes" or "no answer." Yesterday, on The Sean Hannity radio show, Sessions said that the only thing different in this bill is the additional adding of $4.4 billion.

Visit the NumbersUSA homepage for an enlightening look at the impact of illegal immigration in the United States.

In a press release June 19th, Senator Jeff Sessions said:

If we assume that the Administration and the bill’s drafters were serious about their commitment to enforcement, the recent promises of guaranteed funding are unnecessary.
The only significance of the promised funding is to effectively say ‘we’re going to fund what we already promised to fund.’ The $4.4 billion will not build additional miles of fencing, provide any new technology, hire additional agents or acquire more detention beds than already promised by the President and included in the bill’s provisions that trigger amnesty.
“Let me emphasize that this money will do nothing more than fund the enforcement trigger in the bill, which was already a solemn promise to the American people....
“Most significantly, the $4.4 billion will do nothing to change CBO’s conclusion that the bill will only reduce illegal immigration by 13 percent. CBO assumed the bill’s enforcement items would be funded when it published its June 4th cost estimate. If the Senate bill is enacted, CBO projects an additional 8.7 million new illegal immigrants will be in the U.S. in 20 years. These new promises do nothing to prevent that.”
Here's a short summary of Sessions' comments on the 20 loopholes, with the full list of twenty (20) following:
WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) released a list of 20 loopholes in the comprehensive immigration bill today which reveals that the bill is fatally flawed and will not establish a functioning immigration system in the future.

The list of loopholes includes flaws effecting border security, chain-migration and assimilation policies. The list exposes the lack of serious attention given to ensuring that the legislation fixes America’s failed immigration system.

“I am deeply concerned about the numerous loopholes we have found in this legislation. They are more than technical errors, but rather symptoms of a fundamentally flawed piece of legislation that stands no chance of actually fixing our broken immigration system,” Sessions said. “Many of the loopholes are indicative of a desire not to have the system work.”

For example, one loophole in the “enforcement trigger” fails to require the U.S. VISIT system – the biometric border check-in/check-out system established by Congress in 1996, but never implemented – to be fully functioning before new worker or amnesty programs begin. Without the system in place, the U.S. has no method of ensuring that workers and their families do not overstay their visas.

Another flaw in the legislation prevents the benefits of merit-based immigration from taking full effect until 2016. Until then, chain migration into the U.S. will actually triple, compared to a disproportionately low increase in skill-based immigration. As a result, the merit-based system in the bill is only a shell of what it should have been.

A third loophole in the bill allows immigrants to avoid demonstrating a proficiency in English for more than a decade. Illegal aliens are not required to learn English to receive full “probationary benefits” of citizenship. Passing a basic English test is only required for the third Z-visa renewal, twelve years after amnesty is granted.

* Loophole 1 – Legal Status Before Enforcement:
Amnesty benefits do not wait for the “enforcement trigger.” After filing an application and waiting 24 hours, illegal aliens will receive full “probationary benefits,” complete with the ability to legally live and work in the U.S., travel outside of the U.S. and return, and their own social security card. Astonishingly, if the trigger is never met and amnesty applications are therefore never “approved,” the probationary benefits granted to the illegal alien population never expire, and the new social security cards issued to the illegal alien population are not revoked. [See pp. 1, 290-291, & 315].

* Loophole 2 – U.S. VISIT Exit Not In Trigger:
The “enforcement trigger,” required to be met before the new temporary worker program begins, does not require that the exit portion of U.S. VISIT system – the biometric border check-in/check-out system first required by Congress in 1996 that is already well past its already postponed 2005 implementation due date – to be in place before new worker or amnesty programs begin. Without the U.S. VISIT exit portion, the U.S. has no method to ensure that workers (or their visiting families) do not overstay their visas. Our current illegal population contains 4 to 5.5 million visa overstays, therefore, we know that the U.S. VISIT exit component is key to a successful new temporary worker program. [See pp. 1-2].

* Loophole 3 – Trigger Requires No More Agents, Beds, or Fencing Than Current Law:
The “enforcement trigger” does not require the Department of Homeland Security to have detention space sufficient to end “catch and release” at the border and in the interior. Even after the adoption of amendment 1172, the trigger merely requires the addition of 4,000 detention beds, bringing DHS to a 31,500 bed capacity. This is far short of the 43,000 beds required under current law to be in place by the end of 2007, or the additional 20,000 beds required later in the bill. Additionally, the bill establishes a “catch, pay, and release” program. This policy will benefit illegal aliens from countries other than Mexico that are caught at the border, then can post a $5,000 bond, be released and never show up for deportation hearings. Annual failure to appear rates for 2005 and 2006, caused in part by lack of detention space, doubled the 2004 rate (106,000 – 110,000 compared with 54,000). Claims that the bill “expands fencing” are inaccurate. The bill only requires 370 miles of fencing to be completed, while current law already mandates that more than 700 miles be constructed [See pp. 1-2, & 10-11, and EOIR’s FY2006 Statistical Yearbook, p. H2, and The Secure Fence Act of 2004].

* Loophole 4 -- Three Additional Years Worth of Illegal Aliens Granted Status, Treated Preferentially To Legal Filers:
Aliens who broke into the country illegally a mere 5 months ago, are treated better than foreign nationals who legally applied to come to the U.S. more than two years ago. Aliens who can prove they were illegally in the U.S. on January 1, 2007, are immediately eligible to apply from inside the U.S. for amnesty benefits, while foreign nationals that filed applications to come to the U.S. after May 1, 2005 must start the application process over again from their home countries. Last year’s bill required illegal aliens to have been here before January 7, 2004 to qualify for permanent legal status. [See pp. 263, 282, & 306].

* Loophole 5 – Completion of Background Checks Not Required For Probationary Legal Status:
Legal status must be granted to illegal aliens 24 hours after they file an application, even if the aliens have not yet “passed all appropriate background checks.” (Last year’s bill gave DHS 90 days to check an alien’s background before any status was granted). No legal status should be given to any illegal alien until all appropriate background checks are complete. [See pp. 290].

* Loophole 6 – Some Child Molesters Are Still Eligible:
Some aggravated felons – those who have sexually abused a minor – are eligible for amnesty. A child molester who committed the crime before the bill is enacted is not barred from getting amnesty if their conviction document omitted the age of the victim. The bill corrects this loophole for future child molesters, but does not close the loophole for current or past convictions. [See p. 47: 30-33, & p. 48: 1-2]

* Loophole 7 – Terrorism Connections Allowed, Good Moral Character Not Required:
Illegal aliens with terrorism connections are not barred from getting amnesty. An illegal alien seeking most immigration benefits must show “good moral character.” Last year’s bill specifically barred aliens with terrorism connections from having “good moral character” and being eligible for amnesty. This year’s bill does neither. Additionally, bill drafters ignored the Administration’s request that changes be made to the asylum, cancellation of removal, and withholding of removal statutes in order to prevent aliens with terrorist connections from receiving relief. [Compare §204 in S. 2611 from the 109th Congress with missing §204 on p. 48 of S.A. 1150, & see missing subsection (5) on p. 287 of S.A. 1150].

* Loophole 8 – Gang Members Are Eligible:
Instead of ensuring that members of violent gangs such as MS 13 are deported after coming out of the shadows to apply for amnesty, the bill will allow violent gang members to get amnesty as long as they “renounce” their gang membership on their application. [See p. 289: 34-36].

* Loophole 9 – Absconders Are Eligible:
Aliens who have already had their day in court – those subject to final orders of removal, voluntary departure orders, or reinstatement of their final orders of removal – are eligible for amnesty under the bill. The same is true for aliens who have made a false claim to citizenship or engaged in document fraud. More than 636,000 alien fugitives could be covered by this loophole. [See p. 285:19-22 which waives the following inadmissibility grounds: failure to attend a removal proceeding; final orders of removal for alien smuggling; aliens unlawfully present after previous immigration violations or deportation orders; and aliens previously removed. This appears to conflict with language on p. 283:40-41. When a direct conflict appears in a statute, the statue is interpreted by the courts to the benefit of the alien.].

* Loophole 10 – Learning English Not Required For A Decade:
Illegal aliens are not required to demonstrate any proficiency in English for more than a decade after they are granted amnesty. Learning English is not required for an illegal alien to receive probationary benefits, the first 4-year Z visa, or the second 4-year Z visa. The first Z visa renewal (the second 4-year Z visa) requires only that the alien demonstrate an “attempt” to learn English by being “on a waiting list for English classes.” Passing a basic English test is required only for a second Z visa renewal (the third 4-year Z visa), and even then the alien only has to pass the test “prior to the expiration of the second extension of Z status” (12 years down the road). [See pp. 295-296].

* Loophole 11 – Earned Income Tax Credit Will Cost Taxpayers Billions In Just 10 Years:
Current illegal aliens and new guest workers will be eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit, a refundable tax credit designed to encourage American citizens and legal permanent residents to work. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that this loophole will cost the U.S. taxpayer up to $20 billion dollars in just the first 10 years after the bill’s enactment. To be consistent with the intent of the 1996 welfare reforms – which limited new immigrants from receiving public benefits until they had been legal permanent residents for five years – the bill should withhold EITC eligibility from amnestied aliens until they become legal permanent residents. Closing this loophole will save the taxpayers billions of dollars. [See p. 293 after S.A. 1190 was adopted, p. 307, p. 315, §606. All that is required for EITC eligibility is a social security number and resident alien status. Nothing in the bill’s tax provisions limit EITC eligibility. The issuance of social security numbers to aliens as soon as they apply for amnesty will ensure they are able to qualify for the EITC.]

* Loophole 12 – Affidavits From Friends Accepted As Evidence:
Records from day-labor centers, labor unions, and “sworn declarations” from any non-relative (acquaintances, friends, coworkers, etc) are to be accepted as evidence that the illegal alien has satisfied the bill’s amnesty requirements. This low burden of proof will invite fraud and more illegal immigration – even aliens who are not yet in the U.S. will likely meet this burden of proof. DHS will not have the resources to examine whether the claims contained in the “sworn declarations” of the alien’s friends (that the alien was here prior to January 1, 2007 and is currently employed) are actually valid. [See p. 293: 13-16].

* Loophole 13 – Taxpayer Funded Legal Counsel and Arbitration:
Free legal counsel and the fees and expenses of arbitrators will be provided to aliens that have been working illegally in agriculture. The U.S. taxpayer will fund the attorneys that help these individuals fill out their amnesty applications. Additionally, if these individuals have a dispute with their employer over whether they were fired for “just cause,” DHS will “pay the fee and expenses of the arbitrator.” [See p. 339:37-41, & p. 332: 37-38.]

* Loophole 14 – In-State Tuition and Student Loans:
In-state tuition and other higher education benefits, such as Stafford Loans, will be made available to current illegal aliens that are granted initial “probationary” status, even if the same in-state tuition rates are not offered to all U.S. citizens. This would normally violate current law (8 U.S.C. §1623) which mandates that educational institutions give citizens the same postsecondary education benefits they offer to illegal aliens. [See p. 321: 8-31].

* Loophole 15 – Inadequacy of the Merit System:
The “merit system,” designed to shift the U.S. green card distribution system to attract higher skilled workers that benefit the national interest, is only a shell of what it should have been. Though the merit system begins immediately, it will not increase the percentage of high skilled immigrants coming to the United States until 2016, 8 years after enactment. Of the 247,000 green cards dedicated to the merit based system each year for the first 5 years, 100,000 green cards will be reserved for low-skilled guest workers (10,000) and for clearing the current employment based green card backlog (90,000). From 2013 to 2015, the number of merit based green cards drops to 140,000, and of that number, 100,000 green cards are still reserved each year for low-skilled guest workers (10,000) and for clearing the current employment based green card backlog (90,000). Even after 2015, when the merit system really begins (in 2016) by having 380,000 green cards annually, 10,00 green cards will be reserved specifically for low skilled workers, and points will be given for many characteristics that are not considered “high-skilled.” For example, 16 points will be given for aliens in “high demand occupations” which includes janitors, maids, food preparation workers, and groundskeepers. [See p.260: 25 – p. 261: 20, p. 262, & The Department of Labor’s list of “occupations with the largest job growth” available at www.bls.gov/emp/emptab3.htm].

* Loophole 16 – Visas For Individuals That Plan To Overstay:
The new “parent” visa contained in the bill which allows parents of citizens, and the spouses and children of new temporary workers, to visit a worker in the United States is not only a misnomer, but also an invitation for high rates of visa overstays. This new visa specifically allows the spouse and children of new temporary workers who intend to abandon their residence in a foreign country, to qualify to come to the U.S. to “visit.” The visa requires only a $1,000 bond, which will be forfeited when, not if, family members of new temporary workers decide to overstay their 30 day visit. Workers should travel to their home countries to visit their families, not the other way around. [See p. 277:1 – 33, and p. 276: 38-43].

* Loophole 17 – Chain Migration Tippled Before Being Eliminated:
Though the bill will eventually eliminate chain migration (relatives other than spouses and children of citizens and legal permanent residents), it will not have full effect until 2016. Until then, chain migration into the U.S. will actually triple, from approximately 138,000 chain migrants a year (equal to 14% of the 1 million green cards the U.S. currently distributes on an annual basis) to approximately 440,000 chain migrants a year (equal to 45% of the 1 million green cards the U.S. currently distributes on an annual basis). [See pp. 260:13, p. 270: 29 – pp. 271: 17]

* Loophole 18 – Back Taxes Not Required:
Last year’s bill required illegal aliens to prove they had paid three of their last five years of taxes to get amnesty. This year, payment of back taxes is not required for amnesty. The bill requires taxes to be paid at the time of application for a green card, but at that time, only proof of payment of Federal taxes (not state and local) is required for the years the alien worked on a Z visa, not the years the alien has already worked illegally in the United States. Though Senator McCain’s S.A. 1190, adopted by voice vote, claimed to “require undocumented immigrants receiving legal status to pay owed back taxes,” the amendment actually only required proof of payment of taxes for “any year during the period of employment required by subparagraph (D)(i).” Since the bill does not contain a subparagraph (D)(i), nor require any past years of employment as a prerequisite for amnesty, the amendment essentially only requires proof of payment of taxes for future work in the U.S., not payment of “back taxes.” [See p. 307, and p. 293 as altered by S.A. 1190, amendment p. 2: 19-20.]

* Loophole 19 – Social Security Credits Allowed For Some Illegal Work Histories:
Aliens who came to the U.S. on legal visas, but overstayed their visas and have been working in the U.S. for years, as well as illegal aliens who apply for Z visa status but do not qualify, will be able to collect social security credits for the years they worked illegally. Under the bill, if an alien was ever issued a social security account number – all work-authorized aliens who originally came on legal visas receive these – the alien will receive Social Security credits for any “quarters of coverage” the alien worked after receiving their social security account number. Because the bill requires social security account numbers to be issued “promptly” to illegal aliens as soon as they are granted “any probationary benefits based upon application [for Z status]” (these benefits are granted 24 hours after the application is filed), an illegal alien who is denied Z visa status but continues to work illegally in the U.S. will accumulate Social Security credits. [See pp. 316:8 – 16, and pp. 315: 32-39]

* Loophole 20 – Criminal Fines Not Proportional To Conduct:
The criminal fines an illegal alien is required to pay to receive amnesty are less than the bill’s criminal fines for paperwork violations committed by U.S. citizens, and can be paid by installment. Under the bill, an illegal alien must pay a $1,000 criminal fine to apply for a Z visa, and a $4,000 fine to apply for a green card. Eighty percent of those fines can be paid on an installment plan. Under the bill’s confidentiality provisions, someone who improperly handles or uses information on an alien’s amnesty application can be fined $10,000. Administration officials suggest that the bill’s “criminal fines are proportionate to the criminal conduct.” Why, then, is the fine for illegally entering, using false documents to work, and live one-tenth the fine for a paperwork violation committed by a government official? [See p. 287: 34, p. 317: 9, p. 315:6-8, & remarks made by Secretary Gutierrez on Your World with Neil Cavuto, 4:00 May 31, 2007]
