This took my breath away. Marisol Valles Garcia, a 20-year-old criminology student has been named the Mayor of Guadalupe, a violent Mexican border town where a former Mayor was murdered in June.

Valles is in school in Ciudad Juarez, about 35 miles from Guadalupe. Along with the death of the town's mayor, police and security officers have been killed and some beheaded. Just last week in Guadalupe, a high-traffic crossing point for drugs into the U.S., eight were killed. The city is the second most violent city after Juarez according to this account.
When a local newspaper asked the student if she feared for her life, she had this to say (as translated by The Upshot): Afraid? Everyone is afraid and it's very natural. What motivates me here is that the project [to make the community safer] is very good and can do a lot for my town. I know that we are going to change and remove this.
I think of my son when he was 20 and can't begin to understand what Marisol's family must be feeling.
"The weapons we have are principles and values, which are the best weapons for prevention," she told CNN. "Our work will be pure prevention. We are not going to be doing anything else other than prevention." It's possible that she's just accepting the limitations of her post: She only has 13 officers, one police car, three rifles and one pistol at her disposal. But it does seem that she is intentionally bringing a new ethos to the department. "I'm not going after the 'malos' (bad ones); that's the federal police and soldiers' responsibility," she said. "We're going after the good ones, like children, parents, men and women who we have to organize so they don't fall prey to the temptation of crime, drugs and easy money."

There is new smear on Allen West for support from The Outlaws Motorcycle Club (AOA). Retired Lt. Col. West is vying to take Democrat incumbent Ron Klein's congressional seat in Florida's 22nd District . The Outlaws support the Colonel. They are arch-enemies of Hells Angels. Both clubs have members in prison.

But here's the thing about The Outlaw's support of Allen West: West is a patriot, he reveres the U.S. Constitution and he talks about it. He reveres our Republic and our democracy, and he talks about it. If the Outlaws are supporting West, then they must also support the same. If the Outlaws are ruthless and involved in criminal activity, our laws will deal with them, but apparently the Outlaws that West has had contact with are free citizens of the U.S. They are free to vote, and I believe they will not vote twice, will not vote a non-voter's vote, and will not sign-up illegals and escort them to the polls - all of which Liberals engage in in every election year. Infamously, if you are a Liberal, and famously if you are a Conservative, West gave a belligerent Iraqi civilian police office the opportunity to tell him who was killing soldiers:
After about 20 more minutes of useless questioning, West grabbed the man, held him down near a box full of sand used to discharge jammed weapons, and said something like, "This is it. I'm going to count to five again, and if you don't give me what I want, I'm going to kill you." West held the man down, counted to five, and then fired his pistol into the discharging box about a foot from the Iraqi's head. He began talking. Over the next few minutes, the prisoner gave very specific information about the plot. He named the conspirators, gave times and dates of the assassination plan, and even described how attacks would be made.
After the Iraqi talked, there were no more attacks on U.S. forces. For this, Lt. Col. West was relieved of this campaign:
He was told he would go through an Article 32, which is about the same as a Grand Jury hearing. At the hearing he was asked if he would do the same thing again. West replied "if it's about the lives of my men and their safety, I'd go through hell with a gasoline can."Congress sent a letter to the Secretary of the Army in support of him with 95 signatories.

Last week the news was all about Tiffany and David Hartley and their ill-fated venture on Lake Falcon, into Mexican waters on jet skis. David Hartley, 30, is believed to have died in Mexican waters of a gun shot to the head. Yesterday, Rolando Armando Flores Villegas, a Mexican Homicide Investigator left his home to search for David. He did not return. Today his head was found in a suitcase outside a military compound in Miguel Aleman, Mexico.

According to Mrs. Hartley, the couple were chased by Mexicans in boats, who were shooting at them. David Hartley was trying to shield his wife and was shot in the head. Mrs. Hartley tried to get him on her jet ski but could not and eventually made it back to the Texas shore, where a man who actually saw the boats chasing her, called 911.
The U.S. and the Hartley family was upset that Mexico maybe did not believe Mrs. Hartley, and it seemed a search was not happening at all. Some on both sides of the border hinted that Tiffany's story might not be true.
After a police video showed the Hartley's pulling their jet skis on the way to Falcon Lake, and with the man who called 911 speaking out, Mexico began to search. They also named two brothers, members of the "Zeta drug cartel, as suspects.
On Monday, Tamaulipas state officials continued to deny U.S. and Mexican news reports over the weekend that a Tamaulipas official — one of Flores' subordinates — had identified two brothers as the men responsible for Hartley’s death.
The Associated Press reported that Tamaulipas State Police unit chief Juan Carlos Ballesteros said investigators believe brothers Juan Pedro and Jose Manuel Saldivar Farias may have killed Hartley as he snapped photos of a partiall submerged church from his personal watercraft at Old Guerrero.
Today came the news that Rolando Armando Flores Villegas, the head of border city of Ciudad Miguel Aleman, with the title of State Police Commandant, lost his life and his head. A spokesman in the area's Attorney General's office said the murder of Villegas "had nothing to do with the Hartley probe."
Mexican authorities want Tiffany Hartley to file a complaint in the Mexican city of Miguel Aleman. I have to believe entering a border town in Mexico is the last thing she wants to do. If the State Police Commandant is not safe, why would Mrs. Hartley believe the could protect her?
The accused murderer of Byrd and Melanie Billings in Beulah, Florida will stand trial in his own home town, and face his fellow citizens in Pensacola. The attorney of Leonard Patrick Gonzalez requested the trial be moved out of the area. That request was properly denied. Jury selection begins on October 25th.
On July 9, 2009 the Billings were found dead in their home. It was a shocking murder. They were the parents of 16 children, many with physical and mental abilities. Many were adopted. Gonzalez is believed to be the organizer and the triggerman, although it is believed he had several accomplices - all of whom are behind bars.
The Castillo del Mar bar in Cancun was attacked by a gang of men dressed in black. Eight at the bar are believed dead. At this time there is no word on whether Americans were in the bar at the time. Six Mexican nationals died at the bar and two in-hospital. Update 4:22 CDT 8/31/10: The dead are reportedly six women and two men, all Mexican nationals and employees of the Castillo del Mar.
At 1:30 a.m., the bar was fire-bombed with 'petrol,' also known as 'Molotov cocktails.' The bar manger escaped injury. Two women working in the bar were killed. All died of burns or asphyxiation. MSNBC is reporting the bar owners refused to pay protection money.
Castillo del Mar is located just five miles from the busy tourist region of Cancun. It not considered a popular tourist destination.
Elias Abuelazam, also known as Elias Abullazam, has been arrested and is believed to be a Palestinian Arab, perhaps previously residing in Israel...after first being reported to be White...and then Jewish. It is possible he is a Palestinian Christian..., and then again, maybe not. While he has not been charged, he is believed to be a serial killer of Blacks, suspected of some 20 stabbings. Antwoine Marshall, the first victim, identified an FBI photo in the early morning hours today. Five of the 20 did not survive. Police believe the attacks are racially motivated, and it is important to note that law enforcement authorities have not formally charged Elias Abuelazam/Abullazam.

Haaretz reports that Abuelazam is an Israeli citizen, formerly living in Ramle, Israel. The report says that he was living legally in the U.S. with a green card, and recently visited Israel for the wedding of a sister. Note that Haaretz says nothing about Abuelazam being Christian.
One Ramle resident said Abuelazam left Israel at age 19 or 20 after finishing high school.
Another resident said Abuelazam was orphaned by his father at a young age.
The resident added that Abuelazam was allegedly involved with criminals and had a violent streak, which led his mother to send him abroad.
However, other neighbors who studied with Abuelazam in high school said he avoided violence, despite his physical build. They added, however, that Abuelazam seemed to have undergone significant changes during his recent visit to Israel.
A., a former neighbor and classmate, said Abuelazam was pleasant during the time they studied together, but that lately he would picks fights with "anyone who looked him in the eye."
He added when Abuelazam got angry, it took three people to restrain him.
"In recent years he experienced something that changed him entirely. He started using drugs, so his family sent him abroad."
Other rumors in Ramle alleged that Abuelazam engaged in relationships with older women in the U.S. who then supported him financially.
Elias Abuelazam married American Jessica Hirth in mid-2004. They were married for three years and divorced in 2007. His former mother-in-law, Kimberly Hirth said Abuelazam "was just the sweetest guy." At the time of the marriage, he worked at the Piedmont Behavioral Health Center (now Northridge Behaviorial Healthcare). Jessica Hirth has remarried and is now Jessica Nimitz. Abuelazam has a sister living in Leesburg, Virginia.
The attacker has consistently been described as a tall, muscular white man who often wears a baseball cap. He often gets close to victims by asking for directions or for help with his car; other times he says nothing at all while he approaches his targets from behind. All of the victims were alone when they were attacked.
Abuelazam, 33, was arrested at the Atlanta airport as he tried to board a Delta Flight 152 to Tel Aviv, Israel. He left a wake of victims in Michigan, Virginia, and Ohio. The first stabbing victim survived the attack and was visited by the FBI this morning, shown a photo of Elias Abuelazam and was able to identify him as his attacker. In this report, posted at 2:23 PM CDT, he is still identified as an Israeli.
The attacks began surfacing in late spring, and picked up the pace as the stabber traversed the country.
Police have said they usually follow a pattern: The suspect approaches black men late at night on lonely urban roads and asks for directions or help with a broken-down car. Then, without warning, he pulls out a knife and strikes. Then, he speeds away in his vehicle, leaving them for dead.
The brazen nature and the frequency of the attacks -- the assailant has struck an average of about once every four days since the first stabbing in May -- has terrified some of those in cities he's already targeted.
The youngest victim was 17; the oldest was 60. They ranged in size from 5-foot-4 inches and 120 pounds to 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds.
Sixteen stabbings of the 20 attacks happened in Flint, Michigan, where Abuelazam worked in a convenience store. He was stopped for a traffic violation in Arlington, Virginia last week. He was "wanted on a simple assault warrant in Leesburg," Virginia but was released on his own recognizance. He has a string of mishaps with the law, including an arrest in December 2007 for felony gun possession. Those charges were dropped in 2008.
Once a Green Chevy Blazer became the focus of the hunt, Abuelazam's time as a free man and a killer shortened considerably.
Abuelazam asked his first known victim, Antwoine Marshall, to help him with his green SUV. He was stabbed twice as he opened the hood of the car. The stabbing cut three of his organs. He has a long scar from his chest to his pelvic area.
On August 3rd a Leesburg, Virginia teenager was stabbed in the back while jogging. A few days later a 67-year-old man in the same area was stabbed while sitting on the steps of his apartment. On August 6th Abuelazam again asked a man to help fix his green SUV. He hit the helper in the head with a hammer. That attack was recorded by a nearby security camera.
A Flint, Michigan neighbor said she noticed the green Chevy Blazer in the driveway of a house, but did not call the police because he was "a dark Middle Eastern man," and descriptions always said the man wanted was White.
Other than the articles linked herein, there is not a lot of confirmation about who Elias Abuelazam is, if he indeed lived in Israel as an Arab citizen, and certainly little confirming that he is Christian. Updates coming as available.
Team leader Tom Little spent more than three decades in the country, a leading member of the IAM team working with the Noor Eye Institute. One of his students was former Afghan foreign minister Dr Abdullah Abdullah who told us: "Dr Little travelled the length and breadth of Afghanistan, treating thousands and thousands of Afghans."
From the Bethlehem Times Union, Dr. Little lived in Delmar, Pennsylvania NewYork, but:
...has a Delmar home but, with his wife, Libby, has spent most of the past three decades in Afghanistan, is believed among the dead. One of the local churches that supports the Littles’ work, First Presbyterian in Schenectady, put out word to its congregation on Friday that Tom Little had been killed.
In his 30 years in Afghanistan, Dr. Little cared for and operated on thousands of Afghan men, women and children. It’s quite possible he cured the eyesight of the Taliban man who shot him to death.
This report says the group was murdered by Taliban in the Badakhshan Province, although earlier reports have named the Nuristan Province. Information seems to be somewhat confusing on where the Americans were shot down. For now I'll leave this report and the three linked herein, and perhaps we'll know the truth before long.
If you've been following the story of the two Navy sailors missing in Afghanistan, sad news today that a second body has been found, that of Petty Officer 3rd Class Jarod Newlove.

The two men are believed to have driven into a hostile area after visiting a local market in Logar. The Taliban said one man was dead, and Petty Officer 2nd Class Justin McNeley's body was found this week. McNeley was from Wheatridge, Colorado, 30-years-old and the father of two small children.
It was believed Newlove was captured and held by the terrorists for a prisoner exchange. More as details become available.

For some months now the CIA has had the authority to kill dual Yemeni-American citizen, Anwar al-Awlaki. It appears that al-Awlaki has not been indicted for treason. Apparently, he can be killed abroad, whether on a battlefield or not. I would be comforted to know that al-Awlaki could not inspire another Nidal Hasan because he was one-dead-dude, and dead by the hand of an American, but is it constitutional?
Article 3, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution covers treason. Treason consists only of levying War against the U.S., or giving the enemy aid and comfort. There can be no conviction on charges of treason without the testimony of two witnesses to each treasonous Act ("overt" Act). The Congress is tasked with fixing the punishment. In this administration, Congress would abdicate that duty to a czar.
Why is al-Awlaki not charged with treason? Maybe because there is no way we can find two witnesses to anything he has done. So where does that leave us? With a kill list?
American Adam Gadahn, a California native and convert to Islam, is charged with treason, but is not on the government kill list. Gadahn has family and other non-Muslim acquaintances in the U.S. Maybe witnesses against Gadahn can be found.

Aset Magomadova strangled her 14-year-old daughter with a headscarf and killed her. The mother said her daughter came after her with a knife. A knife in the girl's room was found, but Aminat Magomadova's finger prints were not on the knife.

The mother was acquitted of second-degree murder and found guilty of manslaughter. A Canadian judge sentenced the mother to three years probation with counselling for grief, depression and anger management.
The devout Muslim mother claimed Aminat came at her with a knife in her sewing room, where she prayed several times a day. She said she reacted by wrapping the scarf around her daughter’s neck and twice told the girl to put the knife down before the teen lost consciousness.

Prosecutors asked for a 12-year-prison sentence, but the judge decided the Defense Attorney had a better idea when he told the judge "a suspended sentence can still meet the demands of justice."
Magomadova arrived in Canada "for a better life for herself and her children from Chechnaya, where her husband had been killed by Russian invaders and she had a part of her foot blown off.
The mother agreed that probation was an appropriate sentence. What if the daughter had killed the mother? The murder happened in February 2007. Aminat Magomadova's life meant nothing. Just a couple of strong jerks on the ends of a scarf for 2-1/2 minutes, and a life is snuffed-out - and no one cares.
This area near Hermosillo, Mexico is a "prime corridor for immigrant and drug smuggling," and was the scene of a "massive gun battle between rival drug and migrant-trafficking gangs near the border," - in fact, only 12 miles from the US border just south of Tucson. Twenty-one are dead, six wounded and nine are in police custody.
No surprise that Ted Kennedy's life was under continual threat of assassination. Apparently the file released by the FBI is huge. I found a couple of interesting items - about Mary Jo Kopechne, of course.

John Dean, in Richard Nixon's administration, asked the FBI to discreetly determine if Mary Jo had been in Greece in August 1968, about eleven months before she died. Dean supplied Kopechne's passport number. This report blacks out whatever answer was found. This give the impression that Ted Kennedy was in Greece in August 1968. So far, I haven't found any reports putting him there, but I'm sure if Ted Kennedy did not want to be found, he could make that happen.
Here's a reminder of Chappaquiddick that I found at Boston.com - many years after Mary Joe Kopechne died. This article published by the leading paper in Ted Kennedy's hometown makes you feel as though you were in the car with Kennedy and Kopechne. Portions of the following is from my own article. Her death occurred on July 20th, 1969 [she would have been 70 in 2010]. She was 28 at the time. Two days later her funeral was held in Pennsylvania and she was buried there. Ms. Kophecne's body was whisked off the island and out of Massachusetts for a very quick burial.
There was no defense for Ms. Kopechne against the Kennedy clan. There was no autopsy.
Kennedy pleaded "guilty," and then:

His lawyer asked that his sentence be suspended. Judge James Boyle consented.
"It is my understanding that he has already been, and will continue to be, punished far beyond anything this court can impose," said Boyle.
The hearing lasted less than 10 minutes. Afterward, the police chief told reporters his investigation was closed.
In January [1970], the Chappaquiddick inquest was held on Martha's Vineyard. Kennedy's lawyers had prevailed, and the four days of testimony were closed to the public and press, the transcript locked away until a later date.
Within days of its decision, Judge Boyle released the 764-page inquest transcript — including his own stunning conclusion that Kennedy's negligence had contributed to Kopechne's death.
Based on testimony at the inquest, Boyle concluded that Kennedy had lied; he "did not intend to drive to the ferry slip and his turn onto Dike Road was intentional."
Ted Kennedy's book, True Compass, was released just before his death. One thousand leather-bound copies sold for $1,000 each. Maybe Kennedy found his True Compass before he died. He certainly didn't have it the night he did not rescue Mary Jo Kopechne from the cold waters off of Chappaquiddick Island. I guess it is time I let his memory rest in peace.
Kenya's draft constitution is under fire for leaving a path open to expand the kadhi (khadi) courts to include Sharia law. Today, an explosion at a protest rally in Nairobi has killed three and wounded seventy-five. Is it difficult to believe that the violence involved Sharia Law? This brings to mind the agreement that Kenyan presidential candidate Raila Odinga reportedly signed to give an organization of Muslims their deeply held desire, that Sharia would rule in some portions of Kenya, in exchange for the Muslim vote. According to this Kenyan official the rally was a protest against the draft Constitution, which the country will vote on in August.
The blast took place in Uhuru Park in the middle of Nairobi. According to this article, the explosion was not the work of those protesting the draft Constitution:
A prominent backer of the campaign against the draft constitution, Agriculture Minister William Ruto, attended the rally.
"We want to tell those responsible for this that Kenya will not have a new constitution through intimidation, through blackmail, through bribery or through violence," Ruto said.
Opponents of the khadi courts argue that the new constitution allows the courts to extend their jurisdiction from the majority-Muslim Kenyan coast across the whole country, which they claim will open the way to strict sharia law.
But on May 25, 2010, a three-judge panel ruled that khadi courts are discriminatory.
A three-judge panel said May 24 that the khadi court system, which arbitrates on matters of marriage and inheritance for Kenya’s Muslim minority, is discriminatory as it is based on religion. Kenyan law stipulates separation of church and state, though both the current constitution and the new draft constitution permit courts. A nationwide referendum on the draft constitution is set for Aug. 4.
If you remember the astounding news that Obama friend, or cousin, Raila Odinga signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Muslims to gain their support in Odinga's bid for the presidency in 2008, then you can see that this possibility of creeping Sharia Law being a reality.
The Evangelical Alliance of Kenya printed the document on their website at the URL linked in this sentence. I saw the document many times as I was reading about the story, but today it is gone. There are many opinions as to whether or not the document was real. If it was real, it was signed on behalf of the National Muslim Leaders Forum (NAMLEF) by Chairman Adbullahi Abdi and on behalf of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) by Raila Amollo Odinga.

The problem with that document, if it was real, is that it pledges support of Kenyan Muslims for Odinga's presidential race, in exchange for a rewriting the Kenyan Constitution to allow Sharia Law in some portions of Kenya, here are snippets of the unconfirmed document:
a) Ensure that the Coast Province shall henceforth be known as JIMBO LA PWANI and shall have full autonomy in Governance in all matters apart from National Defence and International Accreditation. In addition, while freedom of worship will be upheld [in the area] the Council of Islamic leaders shall be permitted to have an oversight role to monitor activities of ALL other religions and any applications for religious activities and institutions will require their approval. They shall have the right to deny approval to cults and other evil practices.
f) No Muslim residing in Kenya whether a citizen, visitor or relative of any of the above shall be subjected to any process involving the laws of a foreign country and in particular any Muslim arrested for or suspected of Terrorism or any other International crime shall only be tried within the borders of Kenya and shall be granted a competent lawyer of his/her choice at the expense of the Government.
g) Within 1 year facilitate the establishment of a Shariah court in every Kenyan divisional headquarters.
h) Popularize Islam, the only true religion, in the Coast and North Eastern Regions by ordering every primary school in Kenya in the regions to conduct daily Madrassa classes.
i) Impose a total ban on open-air-gospel crusades by worshippers of the cross in the Coast and North Eastern regions.
j) Outlaw gospel programs (preaching, purported faith healing, etc) on KBC, the National Broadcaster.
This blog looked into the truth of the matter and appears to have been present for some critical information. He says he heard it sworn swear in Nairobi's Mumuia mosque, that this version is not the correct version:

O.K. sometimes it makes sense to first back down from your own truth so as to give room to “that divergent view.” That is why I for a brief moment hold it that this MoU I have seen is not the correct copy...
Since the ODM and NAMLEF have publicly admitted that they indeed signed an MOU, if what we have is not the correct version, then, for clarities sake, where is the correct copy?
Raila Odinga lost the election, but with the help of the U.N. he was shuttled into the government anyway, in the position of Prime Minister.
In 1998, two U.S. embassy bombings (Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania) killed 258 and left more than 5,000 injured. The Egyptian Islamic Jihad was responsible - all connected to Osama bin Laden. So who caused this blast?
The interview of a man speaking on-camera with Geraldo Rivera's brother, Craig, just aired. The man known as 'Jay' or "J" told Craig Rivera he saw Joran van der Sloot at the time of Natalee's disappearance. He eventually went to the police.

In the early morning hours of the night Natalee Holloway disappeared, Jay says he was awakened by barking dogs. "Looking from the left side of my house," he saw a tall man with short hair, walking in the direction of his house. The man was missing a shoe and "hopping." He was soaking wet.
A short time later he believes he saw Paulus van der Sloot when he came to pick-up Joran. He was looking all around - left and right.
Rumors have been around for awhile that Paulus helped his son discard of Natalee's body, but no proof at this time.
Craig Rivera asked Jay if he went to authorities. He said he did not, at that time. The reason: Paulus van der Sloot had friends in high places, in the police department and the courts. He said after police arrested and falsely accused two black men three days after Natalee disappeared, he was concerned, again, for his own safety.
However, in 2008, Jay did go to the authorities and they did not believe him. He called Tim Miller of Texas Equusearch. Equusearch was involved in the search for Holloway. Miller had two polygraphs administered on Jay. He passed both with "no deception." Apparently, the Aruban police still were not interested. The story of Joran van der Sloot will be endless, I suspect. No telling how many missing women were murdered by Joran. This post will be an ongoing compilation of news about this Dutch man who seems to have no conscience about anything he does - a one-stop documentation of all of his psychotic and/or narcissistic behavior. His quest for money is also endless, and of course, it has been his undoing. See a video below. Latest Update 6-2-10 below.
The short review is (skip to The Rest of the Story below if you know the background), van der Sloot is the only serious suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway on May 30th, 2005 in Aruba, Joran's home. He was the last person known to be in contact with her. He has told many stories, confessed numerous times and in numerous ways to her demise and to selling her. Joran was arrested twice in Aruba and was released each time.

In May 2010, Joran tried to extort $250,000 from Natalee's family in exchange for the location of her body. The FBI got involved, $15,000 was wired from a Birmingham, Alabama bank (Natalee's hometown), and another $10,000 came from somewhere, apparently an undercover FBI agent. Joran refused to give the information on Natalee's whereabouts until he had the whole $250,000.
Van der Sloot then showed the FBI agent a house where he said the remains were buried under the foundation. However, they then learned that the house was not even built when Natalee’s disappearance occurred. Van der Sloot then admitted he had lied.
It is important to note that the FBI now denies that they paid any extortion monies to Joran. Wherever the money came from, Joran took it and ran to Peru, arriving there four days after receiving the money. In those four days, authorities are not clear where he was, and Aruba is under much criticism for allowing him to leave the Island. The FBI is excoriated for not putting a tail on him, after videotaping him telling his attorney that he "pushed" Natalee "down, that she hit her head on a rock and died." Then he says he called his father, and Paulus van der Sloot helped him bury the Alabama teen.
In Lima, Joran hit the casinos, as in the case of Natalee Holloway. He met Natalee in the casino in Carlos and Charlie's. In the Lima casino, the Atlantic City Casino, he met 21-year-old Stephany Flores Ramirez. Some reports say they met two to three days earlier. Just hours after entering his hotel room, Flores-Ramirez was dead. About 4 hours after hotel security cameras show Stephany entering Joran's room, the same cameras show Joran leaving with suitcases.
Joran directed hotel staff not to clean the room. He had been the hotel for about two weeks and prepaid. It is not unusual for a hotel guest to forego the service, especially when they are on site for more than one or two nights. That was on Sunday. On Wednesday, the hotel staff found Stephany's body. Joran was no where to be found. It was assume he would make his way to Chile and then to Argentina, where his chances of extradition were lessened.
The story of Stephany's murder broke and two taxi drivers came forward with information. At least one said he drove Joran across the border into Chile. Within hours the Chile police had Joran in custody in Santiago. A couple of days later he arrived in Lima and was transferred to Peruvian police custody.

Then the confessions began again. Peruvian newspaper La Republica reported that Joran had a court-appointed attorney when he said he returned to his hotel room after going for coffee and bread, and found Stephany on his laptop computer, looking at articles about him and Natalee Holloway:
Van der Sloot tearfully confessed, in the presence of a prosecutor and a state-appointed attorney, to grabbing Flores by the neck and hitting her because she had viewed images about the Aruba case on his computer while he was out buying coffee.
In the video of his interrogation, van der Sloot can be seen calmly explaining where he's been and what he's carrying, including a laptop, cash from different countries and photos. He even seemed friendly with the officers on his long drive back from Chile to Lima.
When investigators asked him where his credit cards were, van der Sloot answered in broken Spanish.
"I have those back in my hotel in Santiago," he said on the video. "I went up to my hotel room and I saw these things on the Internet and I had to leave quickly."
Stephany's neck was broken. Her father is a former presidential candidate in Peru, and a well-known race car driver.

Van der Sloot reportedly told authorities that he "sipped an espresso" after he killed Stephany, and mused over what to do with her body.
The 22-year-old ate several biscuits and reportedly took several amphetamine pills as he considered what to do with his alleged victim.
Fearing he would be caught, the paper reports, Van der Sloot showered, got dressed - leaving his clothes from the night before on the bed - and fled at 8:45 a.m. on May 30, less than three hours after he'd arrived at the hotel with Flores.
Authorities believe Van der Sloot had possibly thought to get rid of the body in the ocean, based on maps charting currents found in his backpack when he was arrested in Chile.

This article says van der Sloot went across the street alone at 8:10 a.m., "bought bread and two cups of coffee...and returned to his hotel room." He left the hotel with suitcases an hour and a half later.
Today, June 11th, Peru charged Joran with first-degree murder and robbery. There are reports that Stephany won several thousand dollars in the casino that night. That van der Sloot knew it and targeted her for the money. This information has not been confirmed, but if he has been charged with robbery, it sounds plausible.

Police say Van der Sloot smashed in the face of Lima business student Stephany Flores, whom he met playing poker at a casino, after taking her to his hotel room on May 30. They say he then strangled her, threw her to the floor, emptied her wallet.
Flores was killed three days after meeting Van der Sloot, police say, and five years to the day after Holloway disappeared.
Lima criminal police chief Gen. Cesar Guardia told the AP on Thursday night that when Van der Sloot confessed to killing the Lima business student, investigators asked him about the Holloway case and "he let slip that he knew the place where this person was buried."
Someone, maybe Joran's mother, Anita, hired a new attorney for him, Maximo Altez. Of course, he is asking that Monday's confession be declared void. Altez said Anita will be arriving in Peru next week with the "family's "media advisor."
Guardia said Van der Sloot's confession was legal - that a government-appointed lawyer and an interpreter approved by the Dutch Embassy were present. He also said that Peruvian interrogators had restricted their questioning to the death of Flores, the daughter of a circus promoter and former race car driver.
The general said Van der Sloot took Flores' cash, about $300 worth of Peruvian currency, two credit cards and her national ID card. Police say he also took her car, abandoning it in a lower-class Lima neighborhood before fleeing south to Chile.
It is interesting that some inside the Lima police believe he may have lied about the time of Stephany's death. They think he may have killed her before going for espresso.

In a bid to get back to Aruba, Joran Van Der Monster has told authorities that he will reveal where he buried the body of his first victim Natalee Holloway. The caveat is, that he will do so only in home country.

Update 6-12-10: I'm hearing that Joran used his own shirt to suffocate Stephany when he realized she was not dead. Didn't he say he did not intend to kill her? Yeah, he did.
This is one of the most interesting things I've heard about Joran and the Natalee Holloway case: Geraldo Rivera's show interviewed a man who saw Joran, soaking wet, with one shoe and hopping along - in the early morning hours of Natalee's disappearance. Details coming.

From the religion of peace, we learn the Taliban, professing "the word" for Muhammad, have hanged a seven-year-old boy for being a spy. The boy was working for Afghanistan's President, Hamid Karzai, according to some of the most evil people on the face of the earth - the boy's murderers, the Taliban.
Karzai said the act was a "crime against humanity." Indeed, it is. Now, Mr. Karzai, what will you do about it? Show us how you separate the word of Allah from these acts. Show us how those peaceful Koranic verses negate the violent and inhumane Koranic verses.
Just last week, we watched the Ground Zero mosque protest in New York City. Thousands of people showed up to try to stop a mosque leering over a sacred burial site. One of the protest leaders, Pamela Geller, was interviewed on CNN about her objections to the mosque. After Pam's interview was over, an attorney spoke. He read verse after verse from the Koran about the beauty and peaceful nature of Islam's holy book. The interviewer didn't have a clue how to question him.
I want to know how those coy peaceful verses abide side-by-side with those calling for violent death to infidels? The Taliban is, indeed, doing their god's work, according to their god's word. In the meantime, our soldiers die for the average Islamic Muslim who lies about their god. The truth is too terrible to confront.

Today, the U.S. Government filed a suit in U.S. District Court charging Joran van der Sloot with extortion. A "financial institution in Birmingham, Alabama issued the payment. Van der Sloot wouldn't talk until he received the entire $250,000 payment.
