Gerry Clancy is OU Tulsa Dean: Dr. Gerry Clancy on Health Care Costs

According to Dr. Gerry Clancy, the dean of the OU-Tulsa School of Community Medicine, "Oklahomans with health insurance are each paying about $1,500.00 a year in higher premiums to cover the cost of providing care to those without insurance."

That's $1,500 annually per person, not per family. In addition, Clancy says that Tulsa "charitable organizations contribute at least $10 million a year to those without insurance.

Dr. Clancy will join a panel of experts including U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in Washington, DC, to talk not just health care reform, but access.

"And, if you increase coverage, then what are you going to do after that? Because we already don't have enough doctors to take care of what's going on right now," said Dr. Gerry Clancy.
