The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) received $50 million in stimulus funds, increasing their budget of $145 million by 34 percent.
The monies went to Saipan and St. Thomas; opera houses in Anchorage, Boise and Pensacola. The Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta received $50,000. The Sandglass Center for Puppetry in Vermont and the Spiral Q Puppet Theater in Philadelphia received $25,000 each.
The Maine Indian Basketmakers Alliance received $50,000 "to preserve its director's position." The Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies used stimulus funds to "retain a collections manager and an exhibition coordinator," and Radio Billingue, Inc gets to keep the host of the LaHora Mixteca Radio program.
