RFK Jr says No Sleds, No Ice Skating in Virginia or DC

As the shining City on the hill...that big city of big government corruption, digs its way out of an historic snow storm, we are reminded that Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy's weirdly green son, RFK, Jr. said the areas around Washington DC rarely see snow...no need for sleds, no need for ice skates because global warming has done away with winter.

Nevermind that the average winter snow is about 17," and has been for years. Nevermind that the warmest winter on record was way back in 1932.  "Junior" made his claims, rife with adjectives, in a Los Angeles Times column titled Palin's Big Oil Infatuation, in September 2008.

John Winthrop, as governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1867, said:

For we must consider that we shall be as a City upon a hill. The eyes of all people are upon us. So, that if we shall deal falsely with our God in this work we have undertaken, and so cause him to withdraw his present help from us, we shall be a story and byword throughout the world.
The eyes of "all the people" are upon these fabricating, cheating and scheming thugs.

Here are snippets of other JFK, Jr. "climatological phenomena." See end of post for average snowfalls in the DC area.
I was water-skiing...a...fierce storm plunges us into a melee of towering waves, raking rain, painful hail and midday darkness...blinding flashes of lightning...

The fog consolidated and a waterspout hundreds of feet high rose from the white ocean...moving toward a distant shore...ecame a sand funnel...diffusing...as it rained down bits of beach...my dog was undone...
In Virginia, the weather also has changed dramatically. Recently arrived residents in the northern suburbs, accustomed to today's anemic winters, might find it astonishing to learn that there were once ski runs on Ballantrae Hill in McLean, with a rope tow and local ski club. Snow is so scarce today that most Virginia children probably don't own a sled. But neighbors came to our home at Hickory Hill nearly every winter weekend to ride saucers and Flexible Flyers.
Fond family memories and he dishes his lies: He also remembered President Kennedy "standing erect as he rode a toboggan in his top coat...sliding into the boxwood at the bottom of the hill."

The average snowfall at the two main airports, Reagan National and Dulles is 18.2" and 22.7" respectively. Just north and west of the city, the average 17" snowfall increases to 22." The average temp in DC is 42 degrees F high and 27F low. The warmest winters on record in Washington DC were 1932 (44.6F), 1890 (44.3F) and 1950 (42.9F) - barely any change from the norm and no discernible warming record set since 1950 - 59 years!

The biggest snowstorms in the area in recent years was February 2003 with 16.7," and this February 2003 was also among the snowiest months ever. January 1996 recorded 23.8,"  1979 with 30.6." In March 1999 8.4" of snow is recorded. Washington DC and its surrounds should not be unfamiliar with snow, as these are among the biggest snowstorms. Annually, the area sees at least 17" of snow. In the winter of 1997-1998 and 1975-1976, under two inches of snow were recorded.
