Senators Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and Judd Gregg (R-NH) said if Democrats try to pass health care by reconciliation, they will force a vote on virtually every sentence of the bill, and will go back to the 1974 budget act and force a vote on an amendment that says reconciliation can only be used to amend laws, and only for budget-related issues.
Republicans have their game-face on.
The good news tonight is, the Democrat Senate parliamentarian, Kent Conrad, may have just made it very difficult to pass health care with any kind of parliamentary maneuvers. Read it here.
