Dr. Jack Cassell says he prefers not to treat patients who voted for Barack Obama. A sign on the door says "changes to your health care begin right now, not in four years." Florida Rep. Alan Grayson says he is "disgusted," and suggests the Republican Party change their name to "The Sore Loser Party."
Dr. Jack Cassell
But here is the real story: Cassell said he is not turning patients away:
"that would be unethical, but if they read the sign and turn the other way, so be it."Dr. Cassell, 56, is a urologist in Mount Dora, Florida. Cassell made the message clear, but the Left is musing about what might happen to him under the law. A bioethics professor at the University of Florida's College of Medicine said Allen cannot refuse patients on the basis of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation or disability, but political persuasion is not legally protected. However, the professor says Cassell is "pushing the limit." What is that the professor does not understand about no patients being refused treatment?
Dr. Cassell's practice is allegedly in a "GOP-dominated" Lake County, near Orlando, and he says he does not quiz his patients about their politics, but "won't hide his disdain for the bill Obama signed and the lawmakers who passed it." I love that sign!
