Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner were willing participants in a wholly volatile one year marriage with infidelities on both side. Sinatra was hopelessly in love with the torrid Ava Gardner, and she with him. The problem was, it wasn't really about "being in love." It was about dominance. When Gardner left him, Sinatra slit one wrist, went to the hospital thinking she would come to him. She didn't. It was over. Who knew that Sinatra slit his wrist? I certainly did not.
