Howard Dean Socialism Capitalism: Margaret Thatcher Socialism Explained
Howard Dean, do you remember him at all...found an audience to share his new-found "public" fondness for socialism. Note, in the first video below, he says our capitalist tendencies arise from our "human nature," but our desire for socialism comes from our communitarianism. What? To Democrats today, capitalism is apparently a lone endeavor. Nevermind that capitalism actually employs people and pay wages from profits. If that isn't a "community" endeavor, I don't know what is. See two videos below - don't miss Margaret Thatcher comparing socialism and capitalism in the second.
Many organizations in this country have the word "Democracy" in the title. It's time to drop that like a hot potato. "Democracy" is used as a crutch by those not understanding that we are a Republic, that there is a vast difference between the two, and we lean on the moniker "democracy" at our peril.
We are not governed by a majority, and so it is ironic that Dean says we've decided to settle on a little socialism and a little capitalism. Is Howard Dean the decider? Will Democrats accomplish a little socialism, and then some more, because they are the majority - and as Pelosi and Obama have said - we won? Here's an example of how this works. On Dean's Democracy for America, he has an open letter for reader's to sign advocating the will of the majority over reason or a clear representation of constitutents:
Democratic Caucus AccountabilityCan you venture a guess at how a Congressman or Congresswoman might weight their choice: take a chance that voters will forget your vote, as they often do, by the time the election rolls around, or lose a coveted and powerful chairmanship. They'll choose the power of the committee room without a backward glance.
If ANY member of the Democratic Caucus joins a Republican filibuster of healthcare reform with a public option, the Caucus must immediately strip that Senator of all Committee chairmanships.
The Founding Fathers, with infinite wisdom obtained from life experience with kingdoms and parliaments, intended for as much power as possible be granted to, and retained by, each individual. There is no socialism to be found in this intent.
Howard Dean understands completely, however, and he and his cronies intend to use socialism, veiled as democracy, as a club against our republic.
Walter Williams, writing for Capitalism Magazine, reminds of us our Founder's views of democracy:
James Madison, the father of our Constitution, said that in a pure democracy, "there is nothing to check the inducement to sacrifice the weaker party or the obnoxious individual."From Walter Williams:
John Adams said, "Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There was never a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.
And...Justice John Marshall observed, "Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos."
Our founders intended for us to have a limited republican form of government where rights precede government and there is rule of law. Citizens, as well as government officials, are accountable to the same laws. Government intervenes in civil society only to protect its citizens against force and fraud but does not intervene in the cases of peaceable, voluntary exchange. By contrast, in a democracy, the majority rules either directly or through its elected representatives. The law is whatever the government deems it to be. Rights may be granted or taken away.As effortlessly as Howard Dean threw out the idea that America has decided to share capitalism with socialism, just as effortlessly are Liberals gaining momentum in stealing individual power.
From Bookworm, speaking about Germans in the 1920's, and writing for American Thinker:
They just thought that, after the utter chaos of the 1920s (especially the economic chaos), the socialists would calm the economy (which they did), and simply remove from people the painful obligation of having to make their way in the world. It was only incrementally that the average German bought into the ever-more-extreme demands of the state - and those who didn't buy in were coerced because of the state's unfettered willingness to use its vast, brute power to subordinate individuals to its demand....
Soft socialism is better, but it certainly isn't the American ideal. Britain springs to mind as the perfect example of soft socialism. Britain's socialist medicine is a disaster, with practically daily stories about people being denied treatment or receiving minimal treatment. Invariably, the denials arise because the State's needs trump the individual's: Either the treatment is generally deemed too costly (and there are no market forces at work) or the patients are deemed unworthy of care, especially if they're old.Read more from Bookworm at Bookworm Room.
British socialism has other problems, aside from the dead left behind in her hospital wards. As did Germany, Russia, and China (and as would Obama), socialist Britain took guns away (at least in London), with the evitable result that violent crime against innocent people skyrocketed.
The British socialist bureaucracy also controls people's lives at a level currently incomprehensible to Americans, who can't appreciate a state that is constantly looking out for its own good. In Britain, government protects thieves right's against property owner's, has it's public utilities urge children to report their parents for "green" crimes; tries to criminalize people taking pictures of their own children in public places; destroys perfectly good food that does not meet obsessive compulsive bureaucratic standards; and increasingly stifles free speech. (Impressively, all of the preceding examples are from just the last six months in England.)
Just two years ago, this snippet from Howard Dean would have quickly followed him from Paris to a YouTube debut, but considering "socialism" as a reality, and maybe a better way forward, is a thought shared by many who really do believe that Obama has some stash to share with them.

Ronald Reagan Fiscal Responsibility: Ronald Reagan Cuban Immigrant
Ronald Reagan's "A Time for Choosing" speech, televised on October 27, 1964 in support of Republican presidential nominee Barry Goldwater, speaks of fiscal responsibility, the quest for the implementation of the full power of the government in the lives of the people, and "meeting the needs of the masses through the full power of centralized government." He quotes a Cuban immigrant who is grateful that America was here, because it gave him a place to flee to.
Dejavu. Reagan quotes Senator J.W. Fullbright (D-AR) saying that President Lyndon Johnson is "our moral teacher," and the U.S. Constitution is an antiquated document. Listen as he talks about the plight of farmers under government programs, and a proposed program to stamp out juvenile delinquency by placing the delinquents in a "camp," which will cost taxpayers $4,700 per "camper," but "we can send them to Harvard for $2,700.
Reagan talks about Social Security, forced government health insurance and subordinating America's interest to an institution which has become structurally unsound [United Nations], has no interest in democracy and remains silent as millions are enslaved in the Soviet Union and satellite nations.
Eminent Domain was already a threat. And Reagan talks about Socialism in America.
A nation which can prefer disgrace to danger, is prepared for a master and deserves one. ~ Alexander Hamilton

Honduran Jorge Rivera Aviles Micheletti Replacement? Zelaya Misuse of Public Funds
Things are popping in Honduras after weeks of an ongoing stalemate. Roberto Micheletti, the country's interim President, has suggested that Jorge Rivera Avilas step-in as President until the next election. A local Honduran newspaper reports Zelaya's misuse of public funds and his luxury lifestyle. And wouldn't you know, a major U.S. newspaper recently editorialized that nothing short of Zelaya's return to the presidency can be considered a victory for the citizens of that country. Zelaya's return they say would "reverse the clear breach of democratic order that occurred."
View a 13 minute video interview with Mr. Aviles here, and hear him explain that his country "defended" the Constitution, and how Zelaya broke many of the country's laws before they finally took action. The video is moderated by a PJTV reporter, and Aviles speaks in Spanish with well-done sub-titles. The editorial from the Washington Post mentioned above, goes on to say there are a few things that Mr. Zelaya must do, of course, if Mr. Micheletti's government allows Zelaya back into the President's seat.
Those things are, Zelaya must NOT do what he was doing before he was ousted:
...he would have to abandon his attempt to hold an illegal referendum on changing the Honduran constitution, and he would have to leave office when his term ends in January. This, WaPo says, would "be a victory for the Hondurans who supported Mr. Zelaya's ouster because they feared he was attempting to mimic Mr Chavez's dismantling of Venezuela's democracy." Is this shameful spin, or what?
Make no mistake about it: Honduras and what happens to the Michelletti interim government matters, here and around the world. Zelaya's international supporters abuse the word "democracy" and ignore Honduran law, including Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Roberto Micheletti's government has the Honduran Constitution behind it.
Zelaya is a traitor - but he is one of the few traitors among the neighboring dictators who have not gotten away with snatching liberty from the people. Honduran auditors are now accusing Manual Zelaya of spending $6 million of the people's money on "horses, vacations and Harley Davidson motorcycles."
Government officials distributed a lengthy list of what they claimed were Zelaya's pet luxury items, including cash for the upkeep of his horses as well as airline tickets, jewelry, the use of a private helicopter, and his own top-of-the-range motorbike, local media reported. The Obama administration continues to cut aid to Honduras - $30 million just this past week. If you are a regular reader here at Maggie's Notebook, you know that I, and my contributors, believe the Supreme Court had every right to make the decision to scoot the traitor Zelaya across a border anywhere - which is just what they did. One of my readers left a detailed comment on one of my posts on Honduras and has given me permission to use his statement. Hector Caballero's comments go to the heart of the fate ahead for the Honduran people - sovereignty:
In an audit of Zelaya's expenses by judicial authorities, the mustachioed leader -- who was ushered out of the country on June 28 in a military-backed coup -- also spent money on expensive wines renting high-end real estate.

U.N.'s Palestinian Solidarity Day is Really 365 Days a Year
November each year is the sad host of the U.N.'s Day of International Solidarity with the Palestinian People. The United Nations, rife with anti-semitism from every podium and seat in the house, makes no attempt to disguise the hate for Israel and its supporters. Western nations boycott, "walk out," protest and sometimes do nothing - because the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is running the place. If you are not familiar with the U.N.'s policies of continual Jew-hatred, there are links of interest at the end of this article.
An alien observing the United Nations' debates, reading its resolutions, and walking its halls could well conclude that a principal purpose of the world body is to censure a tiny country called Israel. Beginning in the late 1960's, the full weight of the UN was gradually but deliberately turned against the country it had conceived by General Assembly resolution a mere two decades earlier. The campaign to demonize and delegitimize Israel in every UN and international forum was initiated by the Arab states together with the Soviet Union, and supported by what has become known as an "automatic majority" of Third World member states. The Day of Solidarity with Palestine is yet another ruse to bring monies flowing into Palestine, supposedly to feed and clothe the people, but in reality - the money is funneled to Hamas. If you are not aware of how the U.N. works, if you believe that Palestine is under "occupation," if you didn't know that the U.N. ignored the obscenities in Sudan, but condemned Israel 22 times, if you are not aware that Islam is dominate in the U.N., then the following article, The Latest U.N. Shame, is an excellent place to start the learning process. Your taxes support this evil institution. It's never to late to join the fight to get the U.S. out of the U.N. and the U.N. out of the United States.

This is what you will see at the UN
This is what you won't see at the UN
If you had not marked today's date on your calendars, folks, you may have missed the Big News. Today, November 24th, has been designated by that august body, the United Nations as its annual "International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People".
Of course, no expression of "solidarity" with the Palestinians could go by without bashing the state of Israel.
Sure enough, that temple of world understanding in New York will feature a film that compares Israelis as Nazis ("La Terre Parle Arabe" or "The Land Speaks Arabic."), a film that compares the "Zionist plan for Palestinians" with the Final Solution, as well as an exhibit that paints Israel's 60 years of existence in a terrible light. never mind the fact that 60 years ago-November 29, 1947, the same UN proclaimed two states, Israel and an Arab state side-by-side. The Jews accepted the idea. The Arab world rejected it and prepared for war. The UN lobby will be festooned with a display entitled; The Palestinians- 60 years of struggle and enduring hope.
In addition, there will be resolutions. There will be exhibits. There will be speeches-all condemning Israel for violations of human rights. The UN's former Secretary General, the corrupt Kofi Annan has referred to November 29 as a "day of mourning-a day of grief."
What you won't see-what you won't hear is this:
Nothing will be said about acts of Palestinian terrorism. There will be no mention of the airplane hijackings. There will be no mention of the 1972 Munich Olympic massacre of Israeli athletes. There will be no mention of the Achille Lauro takeover in the 1980s, when Palestinian terrorists took over a cruise ship. Nothing will be said about Leon Klinghofer, an elderly American Jewish passenger, who was murdered and tossed overboard-in his wheelchair. There will be no mention of the airport massacres carried out by Arab terrorists in Rome and Vienna in the 1980s. There will be no mention of the suicide bombings carried out by Palestinians in crowded buses, cafes and pizza parlors.
There will be no photos of Palestinians dancing in the streets and passing out candy on 9-11.
There will be no discussion of the corruption of Yassir Arafat.
There will be no discussion of the hanging or stoning of women in Iran for the "crime" of adultery. Similarly, there will be no discussion of the execution of homosexuals in Iran.
There will be no discussion of rape victims being punished for the "crime" of having illicit sex in Iran and Saudi Arabia.
There will be no discussion of forced female circumcision in parts of Africa.
This "commemoration" is just another sad example of why the UN has no further justification for its existence. This body is just a collection of nations, the majority of which are corrupt, third world countries which don't practice democracy, and have no respect for democracy. Human rights? How many of these banana republics know the first thing about human rights? How many of these countries can match Israel (the only democracy in the entire Middle East) when it comes to human rights?
So why does this useless body exist? Probably to transfer wealth from the developed world to their own sorry countries-where government leaders can siphon it off to Swiss bank accounts while their people live in extreme poverty. They certainly don't exist to stop genocide (witness Cambodia, Rwanda, Darfur and others). They certainly don't exist to save people from natural disasters. When the tsunami struck Indonesia and Thailand a couple of years back, the US military was on the ground delivering food, equipment and medical supplies while the UN bureaucrats were scheduling meetings in Tokyo to decide what they should do first. Then, as American citizens were donating millions of dollars to relief agencies, the UN had the cojones to criticize the US and other developed countries for not doing enough! They seem to forget that, courtesy of the US taxpayer, our country pays almost 25% of their total budget.
It is high time for the US to form a coalition of democratic states and leave this thing called the United Nations in the dustbin of history where it belongs.
