Roman Polanski to US to Face Rape Charges

A judge ruled Roman Polanski must return to the US to face charges for the rape of minor-at-the-time, Samantha Geimer. Polanski's attorney says he will appeal the ruling.

Polanski is under house arrest at a posh residence in Switzerland. Attorneys for Polanski and Geimer received the Judge's opinion before it was released to the public. Geimer's attorney was arguing with Polanski's that he should not be required to return to face a US court.

Here's a brief overview of the case:

Polanski was initially accused of plying the 13-year-old girl with champagne and part of a Quaalude pill then raping her at Jack Nicholson's house.

Polanski was indicted on six felony counts, including rape by use of drugs, child molesting and sodomy. He later pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful sexual intercourse.
Samantha Geimer insists that she has been punished enough. She wants Polanski free - totally. Her attorney charges that her status as victim has been victimized, but Geimer's name was not released until she released it.
Prosecutors insist Polanski must appear in a Los Angeles courtroom and not be permitted to manipulate the justice system.
Polanski has lived in France since he fled there in 1978. He is married and has children.
