Ed Schultz Martyr Meltdown over Fox News: Jealous of Brett Baier

Ed Schultz, really peeved that Obama had an interview with Fox News' Brett Baier - in his own time slot, and didn't come to "him," mentions something about no loyalty from the White House. The look on his face tells his story - he's eaten up with sheer jealousy, saying  "I busted my ass for Obama." His face gets even redder when he says Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA 9th) would not promise to tell the Congressional Black Caucus to stay off of Fox News. In this clip, Schultz ends with  "I'm really sorry that Glenn Beck's going blind, because I think it's a travesty he won't see the country he is destroying."

Peggy Noonan on My Last Nerve: Peggy Noonan Bret Baier: Noonan's High Praise of Bret Baier

Noonan has a piece in the Wall Street Journal today. The first line had me thinking, "okay, you go Peggy," then 5 lines down, she sizes-up the Obama administration as no better than the Bush administration - a comparison at-its-heart that is rude, rude, rude. Noonan is on my last nerve.

Really, President Bush does not deserve this comment when Noonan is talking about the global-reaching embarrassment of Obama canceling his trip to Australia and Indonesia:

How bush league, how undisciplined, how kid's stuff

Right now, I'm praying that Obama could bear any single trait of George W. Bush, especially his discipline and courage, which never failed, and just an ounce of Bush's core decency would serve this current president well.

However, Noonan did have high-praise for Bret Baier's interview with Obama, which was the point of the article - right after the rude and unfounded comparison to G.W. Bush:

Throughout, Mr. Baier pressed the president. Some thought this bordered on impertinence. I did not. Mr. Obama now routinely filibusters in interviews. He has his message, and he presses it forward smoothly, adroitly. He buries you in words. Are you worried what failure of the bill will do to you? I'm worried about what the status quo will do to the families that are uninsured...

Mr. Baier forced him off his well-worn grooves. He did it by stopping long answers with short questions, by cutting off and redirecting. In this he was like a low-speed bumper car. In the end the interview seemed to me a public service because everyone in America right now wants to see the president forced off his grooves and into candor on an issue that involves 17% of the economy. Again, the stakes are high. So Mr. Baier's style seemed -- this is admittedly subjective -- not rude but within the bounds, and not driven by the antic spirit that sometimes overtakes reporters. He seemed to be trying to get new information. He seemed to be attempting to better inform the public.

Obama Bret Baier Interview: Louisiana Purchase will help with Hawaii earthquake

Hawaii must have funds coming to the state from the health care bill. President Obama told FOXNews' Bret Baier that like the Louisiana purchase monies which bought Senator Mary Landrieu's health care vote, "also affects Hawaii which went through an earthquake." See video below.

Media Matters is claiming that FOXNews "erases" 2006 Hawaii earthquake to attack Obama."

Brett Baier asked the President if there are special monies still going to Connecticut:

[OBAMA] 'll give you some exceptions though. Something that was called a special deal was for Louisiana. It was said that there were billions — millions of dollars going to Louisiana, this was a special deal. Well, in fact, that provision, which I think should remain in, said that if a state has been affected by a natural catastrophe, that has created a special health care emergency in that state, they should get help. Louisiana, obviously, went through Katrina, and they're still trying to deal with the enormous challenges that were faced because of that. 

(CROSS TALK) OBAMA: That also — I'm giving you an example of one that I consider important. It also affects Hawaii, which went through an earthquake. So that's not just a Louisiana provision. That is a provision that affects every state that is going through a natural catastrophe.

The most significant earthquake in Hawaii in recent years was a 6.7 in October 2006. It brought a 4-inch tsunami to the shores of the Big Island. The tremblor destroyed 61 buildings. Bridges and overpasses were down. Windows were broken and many homes received cracks to their foundations. The south end of the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel on the island of Hawaii collapsed. The Mauna Kea closed and underwent a $150 million rennovation. President Bush declared the area a "major disaster." So far, I've found no mention of deaths from this earthquake. No disrespect to anyone who did die.

So the question is: are there monies in the health care bill for Hawaii?

Live Blogging Bret Baier's Interview with President Obama

Bret Baier interviewed Barack Obama in the Blue Room, live, just a few minutes ago. Obama filibustered the complete time. He was rude, exceptionally rude and answered not a single question with anything passing for an answer.

Obama had his talking points and was determined not to let Bret Baier do an interview. But Bret did it anyway, and kept Obama on the defense. Baier let the President know he was filibustering, and used the "f" word (filibuster.) Bret clearly showed that Obama did not have answers or knew that he could not divulge the real plan.

The following are my notes - incomplete for the entire interview.

Bret Baier: Do you support deem and pass?

Obama: There is now a proposal by me - good package on the substance. I don't spend much time on the procedural rules. The vote that is taken in the House for health care reform, whatever that vote is it, will be a vote for health care reform. The American people care about premiums going up 20% - 30%.

Bret Baier: Fox got 18,000 emails with questions. One wants to know if this bill is so good, why all the arm twisting and parliamentary tricks...why bribe people to get it passed?

Obama: Bret I get letterts too...yada yada yada

Bret: Back to my original question: so you support the deem and pass rule?

Obama: Whatever they are voting on, it it will be a vote for or against health care reform

Bret: You called for "courage." At the same time Pelosi was saying she likes deem and pass. Is that what you call "courage."

Obama: no real answer

Bret: As a Senator you said with the 50+1 vote (simple majority) you can't govern. Do you feel like you can still govern if you pass the bill with 50+ 1 votes?

No real answer.

Bret: Mr. President, Deem and Pass, Senate Reconciliation, and we still don't know what is in the bill.

Obama: By the time it is passed, I will know what is in it, and you will know, because it will be online.
Everybody knows what is in the bill.

Bret: Is Connecticut in? 100M for the hospital? Is Montana in for asbestos?

Obama doesn't know. Can't answer.

Bret: On Monday you praised the CBO. This proposal makes medicare stronger and more secure
The CBO says the $500B you are going to save in Medicare is not being spent on Medicare, so which is it?

Obama: We are spending less on Medicare which will strengthen it.

Bret: CBO says cuts cannot be simultaneously cut and used for something else. So you don't buy the CBO or the Actuary? You can't say you are saving on medicare and then spend the money twice

Obama: What I do agree with is you can take the savings and put it back into Medicare for drug prescriptions, rather than to insurance companies.
