Iowans Vote at Church on Sunday Morning

Some Iowans voted at church yesterday during services. I think this is a lot more acceptable than a high school busing students to early voting, after supplying them with sample ballots with only Democrat candidates, and then treating them to ice cream.

Harry Reid has Special Names for Angle Voters - and His Polls are Just Fine - Thank You Very Much!

Two counties making up 86% of the Nevada vote had Republicans coming out in droves - maybe a death knell for Harry Reid's Senate career. Washoe and Clark County, the first in Reno and Clark in Las Vegas, say Republican voting is "disproportionately high." Reid, though, says it's all fine...everything is fine, and says those voting for Sharron Angle are both rude and obnoxious.

Harry Reid - Special Words Just for Angle Voters

According to Democrat propagandist Politico:
Some 47 percent of early voters in the bellwether Washoe County so far have been Republicans, while 40 percent have been Democrats, according to the Washoe County Registrar. Nearly 11,000 people had voted in Washoe over the first three days of early voting, which began Saturday.
Here's the good news:
Out of the nearly 47,000 votes cast in Clark County, 46 percent were Democrats, 39 percent Republicans, according to the Clark County Election Department. But while Democrats make up 46 percent of the county's registered voters, Republicans constitute just 33 percent.
Washoe County is home to Angle, a former Reno state legislator, whereas Reid's hometown of Searchlight is in Clark County.
Maybe a glimpse into election day? Democrats stay home? Well, we don't know, and we should not "assume" anything. Every vote counts.

Red State points out that Angle led in 7 of 9 polls published in October. The lead is small, but nevertheless it is a lead she has maintained.

Reid, with his 50% unapproval rating in Nevada, told CNN just 6 days ago, "everything is fine." "Everything is going well in Nevada." He also said his poll numbers are "fine." We'll see about that. I'm feeling a little cocky - but only a little. By election day it will be a healthy does of fear and even the flu couldn't keep me away from the polls. Sometimes fear is a good thing.

So are you one of the "rude and obnoxious" Angle voters? Another question: how do you feel about early voting? Join the conversation at The Lonely Conservative, who has more.

Unemployment 10% Mid-October: 95,000 Jobs Lost September 2010

It's a toilet out there for Barack Obama. Unemployment today of 10%, is up from 9.4% mid-September, and 9.3% at the end of August. Officially, this report of 10% is not released until November 5th, three days  AFTER the November 2nd election - so pass it around. Predictions are, we will go into 2011 with exorbitantly higher taxes and 10% of the country unemployed. Source: Gallup. More at HotAir. Graphic credit: SodaHead

GOP Generic Ballot 10-Point Lead

This has to hurt not only Democrats but their friends inside the Gallup organization. The GOP has a 10-point lead on the generic ballot - an "unprecedented" lead according to the pollster.

Read the entire article and see the graph here.
Republicans lead by 51% to 41% among registered voters in Gallup weekly tracking of 2010 congressional voting preferences. The 10-percentage-point lead is the GOP's largest so far this year and is its largest in Gallup's history of tracking the midterm generic ballot for Congress.
These results are based on aggregated data from registered voters surveyed Aug. 23-29 as part of Gallup Daily tracking. This marks the fifth week in a row in which Republicans have held an advantage over Democrats -- one that has ranged between 3 and 10 points.
The Republican leads of 6, 7, and 10 points this month are all higher than any previous midterm Republican advantage in Gallup's history of tracking the generic ballot, which dates to 1942. Prior to this year, the highest such gap was five points, measured in June 2002 and July 1994. Elections in both of these years resulted in significant Republican gains in House seats.

Nameless Spending Bill Punishes States, Rewards Democrats

Like every piece of legislation coming out of Congress these days, the more you know about the Democrats "stimulus" bill with no name, the worse it gets. Today's editorial in the Wall Street Journal brings to light the worst parts of this bad bill.

Specifically, the bill stipulates that federal funds must supplement, not replace, state spending on education. Also, in each state, next year's spending on elementary and secondary education as a percentage of total state revenues must be equal to or greater than the previous year's level.

Governor Haley Barbour of Mississippi did the math and figured out his state will be worse off. Mr. Barbour says the bill will force his state "to rewrite its current year [fiscal 2011] budget. Preliminary estimates of the Mississippi Department of Finance and Administration show that we will now have to spend between $50-100 million of state funds—funds that must be taken away from public safety, human services, mental health and other state priorities and given to education—in order for an additional $98 million of federal funds to be granted to education. There is no justification for the federal government hijacking state budgets, but that is exactly what Congress has done."
That's not all. The legislation would actually force Texas legislators to violate their own constitution.
For Texas, and only Texas, this funding rule will be in place through 2013. This is a form of punishment because the Beltway crowd believes the Lone Star State didn't spend enough of its 2009 stimulus money. Apparently Texas politicians have been clinging to the quaint notion that the government should try to live within its means.

Texans also seem to have an old-fashioned appreciation for the rule of law. On Friday, 22 GOP Members of the state's Congressional delegation sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. "This provision would have Texas violate her own State Constitution," they wrote. "The Texas Legislature has sole authority to determine State appropriations. Moreover, one Legislature cannot bind a future Legislature. Requiring the State to assure that a future Texas Legislature would commit to spend funds in accordance with these provisions would violate the Texas Constitution."

Texas Governor Rick Perry is also opposed to this new "assistance" from the federal government. He understands that one-time payments that force permanently higher state obligations are a windfall for government employees. But if given the choice, taxpayers would just say no.
Of course, we keep hearing that it's all about "the children" and saving the jobs of teachers. But the Journal also goes on to note that a Michigan teachers union refused to concede to changes in its members' health plan. The concession would have reduced the cost of family coverage from $23,000 per year to $17,000. It's like going from a Mercedes to a Cadillac, but they would have none of that. Why would they, when Congress and President Obama were waiting in the wings, ready to send them taxpayer funds they can use to fund their exorbitant benefit packages, all the while sending money back to the Democrats to help finance their campaigns.

No wonder Obama can't get his approval ratings out of the gutter. He and his fellow Democrats are legislating from the gutter. No matter how much they spend, the economy keeps getting worse. The Fed announced more plans to "stimulate" the economy and the stock market responded with its worst day in over a month. So much for confidence. The trade deficit is getting worse and millions of unemployed Americans can't find jobs.

This graph shows that none of the so called stimulus has stimulated anything but poverty and dependence in America.

No wonder the Democrats don't want to run on their record. Who would?

Michele Bachmann Poll Below 50%: About Michele Bachmann

Conservatives are expecting a tough US House race for Rep. Michele Bachmann (R) in Minnesota's 6th District. She is the hard target for Liberals, who love to hate her.

Michele Bachmann

Bachmann holds a 9 point lead against state Senator Tarryl Clark (D) 48% to 39%. It is always a concern when an incumbent polls lower than 50%, and not wanting to make light of the Congresswoman's need to 'bulk-up' her numbers to set our minds at ease, it's worth mentioning that she won the seat with 46% of the vote in 2008, and the win that sent her to Washington, D. C. in 2006 with exactly 50%. A nine point lead is a nine point lead.

With every Republican seat in the House a necessity to keep, conservative Michele Bachmann representing Minnesota's 6th District is expected to be a tight race. She is the biggest target for Democrats, even bigger than Sharon Angle. Many Democrats hate Michele Bachmann and have vowed to overwhelm her campaign financially. She has pulled it out before, but was not faced with the current animosity. Her donation page is here.

Congresswomen Bachman has received the endorsements of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, The National Rifle Association (NRA) National Right to Life Pac, Susan B. Anthony List, Taxpayers League Liberty Fund, Trust in Small Business PAC, Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life and...Sarah Palin.

Bachmann was the first Republican woman from Minnesota to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. She is a Christian, a fierce leader of conservative principles with a background as a federal tax litigation attorney working on both civil and criminal cases. She is vocal about simplifying the U.S. Tax code and lowering taxes on families and small business. She wants our energy reserves to be unrestricted, while promoting alternative solutions.

Michele is pro-life, believes marriage should be between one man and one woman. She wants a health care program that is not government run in any manner. She believes reforming the tax code to offer "full tax deductibility for individual health expenses, including medical care, dental care, long-term care and insurance premiums," may be the answer to private health care. Bachmann wants education back in the hands of educators and parents, and out of the hands of government. She is pro-military.

She is a fiscal conservative, scoring 88% on the Club for Growth 2009 scoreboard, placing her at No. 82 out of 435 congressmen (smaller is better). She opposed the automaker bailouts, the $700 billion financial bailouts, and proposed instead, suspension of mark-to-market accounting rules (as has Newt Gingrich). She has boldly spoken out about Obama's connections to Jeremiah Wright and Weatherman Bill Ayers.

Bachmann has a "history" with TEA parties, appearing at them, speaking at them, including standing vigil with 10,000 Tea Partiers in Washington, D.C. against the Democrat health care vote.

Michele was born in Waterloo, Iowa to a Democrat family. She is 54-years-old, a graduate of Winona State University in Winona, Minnesota. She graduated Oral Roberts University/Coburn School of Law in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1986 with a law degree, then went to the College of William and Mary for an LLM in tax law. She became a Republican in her senior year at Winona State.

Michele and Marcus Bachmann and family

Michele is married to Dr. Marcus Bachmann, a clinical therapist. Together they have 5 children, but this family has opened their home and their hearts to 23 foster children. Isn't that amazing? The Bachmann's live in St. Croix and own Bachmann and Associates, a mental health care practice in Stillwater, Minnesota. Bachmann has some ownership in a family farm. Make a contribution to Rep. Bachmann's campaign.

James Carville Poll Nails Obama a Socialist and Too Liberal

Uber-Liberal James Carville and Stan Greenberg's Democracy Corp poll has 33% of likely voters saying "a socialist" describes Barack Obama "very well." Another 22% say "a socialist" describes Obama "well." If two plus two is four, then 55% of likely voters believe our president is a socialist. Fifty-six percent say he is too liberal.

Carville Poll - Obama a Socialist

From The Campaign Spot:
On “too liberal,” 35 percent of likely voters say it describes Obama “very well,” 21 percent say “well,” 21 percent say “not too well,” and 17 percent say “not well at all.” In other words, 56 percent of likely voters consider Obama too liberal.
When asked about “a socialist,” 33 percent of likely voters say it describes Obama “very well,” 22 percent say “well,” 15 percent say “not too well,” and 25 percent say “not well at all.”
In other words, 55 percent of likely voters think “socialist” is a reasonably accurate way of describing Obama.
In less than a year-and-a-half Obama has gone from Messiah to Socialist, or maybe it's a Socialist Messiah?

We can take this poll seriously because Carville's partner Stan Greenberg is considered:
”...the De Niro of all political consultants,” and ”an unrivaled international ‘guru’.” Esquire Magazine named him one of the most important people of the 21st century. The New York Times writes that Greenberg "acts as a sort of people's truth squad," while The New Republic describes Stan Greenberg’s list of clients as a "who's who in center-left world leaders."
Republican pollster Frank Luntz says "Stan Greenberg scares the hell out of me. He doesn't just have a finger on the people's pulse; he's got an IV injected into it. He's the best."
So friends we can believe the good news in this poll.

Primary News - Ongoing Updates and Final Results: Blanche Lincoln Wins Primary

California: FINAL RESULT: Carly Fiorina will face Senator Barbara Boxer in November. Actual results not yet in.

CaliforniaFINAL RESULT: Meg Whitman wins GOP primary for California Governor race with 63% of the vote.

The South Carolina governor race has been one of the most dramatic. Without going into details, Republican State Representative Nikki Haley told voters if the smutty rumors about infidelity are true, she will resign if she becomes South Carolina's Governor. She narrowly missed a runoff for the GOP candidate with 59% of the vote to Republican Gresham Barrett's 49%. They will both be on the ballot for the June 22nd runoff.

Also in South Carolina, Democrat Alvin Greene, an unemployed military Vet will be up against Republican incumbent, Jim DeMint for the U.S. Senate seat.

Arkansas incumbent Senator Blanche Lincoln (D) is a few points ahead behind of challenger, Lt. Gov. Bill Halter (D) at this moment - with polling standing at with 51% Lincoln - 46% Halter, with 56% of the vote in at 10:10 EDT.  Update: oops, at 10:30 p.m. EDT. In Nevada, wanting to retire Senator Harry Reid (D) in the November election are Sharron Angle and Sue Louden. Louden was considered the favorite until the Tea Party got behind Angle. Louden is Conservative, but more of an establishment Conservative. Angle wants to repeal the 16th Amendment, dissolve the Department of Education and phase out Social Security for younger workers.

Nevada Update: Okay at 11:20 p.m. EDT and Sharron Angle has a slight lead over Louden: 35.2% 36.1% to 33.2%.  At 11:46 p.m. EDT Angle leads Louden 36.8% to 30.5% with 36% of the vote in.

In Nevada at about 11:11 EDT, Fox is reporting early results in the Republican primary have Sue Louden at 34.7%  31.2%, and  Sharron Angle 36.1%. Stand-by.
At 12:20 a.m. EDT, 6-9-10, results are still not in on the Angle-Louden race but the last report had Angle up by about 7 points. I'm off to bed. Catch you in the morning.

FINAL RESULT: The AP has called the Nevada race for Sharron Angle.
California's race for the Republican to retire Senator Barbara Boxer is all-important to Conservatives. Polls close in California at 8 p.m., 10 p.m. EDT - just about 25 minutes away. Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, State Assemblyman Chuck Devore and former U.S. Congressman, Tom Campbell.

At 11:33 p.m. EDT with only 4% of the vote in, Carly Fiorina leads with 59.4% and Tom Campbell 20.7%. Stay tuned. FINAL RESULT: Carly Fiorina will face Senator Barbara Boxer in November. Actual results not yet in.

Also in California's governors race, former Ebay CEO, Meg Whitman (R) faced Republican Steve Poizner in tonight's primary. FINAL RESULT: Meg Whitman wins GOP primary for California Governor race.

In Georgia, Republican Tom Graves has been elected to the U.S. House to complete Nathan Deal's (R) term through 2010.
