How the Presidency and America Will Be Changed by Immigration Fraud

Flashback: Immigration Fraud and the Presidency by James Lewis, writing for the American Thinker, is a prodding post - a reminder of just what is at stake if the immigration reform Bill s.1639 passes.

Before Clinton ran for his second term in 1996, Meissner [Administrator of the Immigration & Naturalization Service (INS)] ensured that hundreds of thousands of illegals were fraudulently legalized, just in time to vote for the Clintons.
Lewis points to Congressman Rahm Emanuel (D-IL), "the 2006 Democrat Congressional takeover" and Al Gore as being "intimately involved with this massive Democrat immigration fraud...."

After the Clinton's and Gore took the White House, quoting a David Schippers piece in the WSJ:
The U.S. got 75,000 new citizens who had arrest records when they applied; an additional 115,000 citizens whose fingerprints were unclassifiable and were never resubmitted; and a final 61,000 who were given citizenship without even having their fingerprints submitted so that no check was possible...
Then this all too often forgotten reminder:
Oh, and by the way, Mohammed Atta was found and released twice by the INS for immigration violations. Before he knocked down the Twin Towers and killed 3,000 Americans.

Jones: Continues the Fight for Ramos and Compean

By Stanford Matthews Blog @ MoreWhat.com The following statement is from the office of Congressman Walter B. Jones (R-NC) and I am quickly becoming a fan of this man. Not only has he taken up the cause against illegal immigration but he has been acting on behalf of Border Agents Ramos and Compean. It is a good press release. Take some time and give it a read. You might also consider contacting the Congressman's office to extend a thank you. Some tough poitical times make this Congerssman's efforts a larger than normal blast of fresh air. I've been fooled before but I think we have a winner here. Tuesday, June 26, 2007 JONES CONTINUES EFFORT FOR BORDER SECURITY Judiciary Committee Heeds Jones’ Call to Review Prosecution of Border Agents Washington, D.C. – Representative Walter B. Jones (R-NC) continued an effort to protect our nation’s borders when he was asked to speak today before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security on the issue of U.S. Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean. Jones applauded the Subcommittee’s inclusion of the agents’ case in its review of mandatory minimum sentencing laws. Congressman Jones had requested that the Committee schedule a hearing to examine the prosecution of agents Ramos and Compean in a February 23rd letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers. The two men entered federal prison on January 17, 2007 to begin serving sentences of 11 and 12 years respectively for wounding a Mexican drug smuggler who brought 743 pounds of marijuana across the U.S. border in 2005. “Because delaying justice in this case undermines the U.S. Border Patrol’s critical mission of enforcing our immigration laws, I believe the House Judiciary Committee should investigate all matters involved in the prosecution and sentencing of these two men,” the letter stated. “I hope that this hearing will not only bring sunshine to the misapplication of mandatory minimum sentencing laws, but also to the fact that these agents never should have been prosecuted,” Congressman Jones said. The agents were each charged with violating 18 United States Code Section 924 (c), which carries a 10-year minimum mandatory sentence. The law, as enacted by Congress, requires a defendant to be indicted and convicted either of “using” or “carrying” a firearm during & in relation to the commission of a crime of violence … or “possessing” a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. Because agents Ramos and Compean were carrying their guns in relation to their duties as U.S. Border Patrol agents, many have questioned the U.S. Attorney’s decision to apply the statute in their case. “The disturbing details of this case strongly call into question whether justice was served,” Jones said today. “I am hopeful that the House Judiciary Committee will take the time to thoroughly investigate the lack of fairness in the proceedings against these two men – including the prosecution’s efforts to seek out and offer immunity to a habitual illegal alien Mexican drug smuggler for his testimony against two law enforcement officers.” For additional information or to schedule an interview with Congressman Walter B. Jones please contact Kathleen Joyce at (202) 225-3415.

Dead Republicans Walking

Cross-posted from stikNstein has no mercy... A few weeks ago Stik did a post titled FROM PERMANENT MAJORITY, TO THE END OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY AS WE KNOW IT….IN 5 YEARS. It’s HERE

The title came from a commenter at Ace of Spades. The abandonment of the core values of his party by the President, and his Cabinet Appointees…..his Senate and Congressional Leadership….the Department of Commerce and his big business buddies….have been a gradual yet inexorable process over the last five …to 10 years. More at ACE HERE

Now…..with a master stroke of intimidation and bribery The Business lobby, The church lobby, and the Illegal Immigrant Special Interest Lobby are blackmailing and paying off Republican Senators to resurrect and vote into law a bill that by every measure is against the National interest and opposed by the majority of Americans.

Republicans falling in to support the Bill might just as well be placing the order for their last meal while they’re at it…… DEAD REPUBLICANS WALKING.jpg

The bribe of advanced funding that so many Republicans are using to justify their pro Amnesty votes is horrific and misleading. It’s also being funded by the cost of the z-visas, which means that money from the visas that could of gone to help offset the costs of health care, education, or crime from the illegal tsunami we’ve been swamped by. Republicans have already agreed to vote to pass the bill (cloture) so long as they are allowed to stand up and posture by proposing amendments they know are meaningless or if voted on will fail. 22 ammendments will be proposed, 11 dem, 11 rep. Anyone who introduces an amendment has pledged to vote for cloture. Dorgan’s amendment is in. Hutchison is on board. pay to play, legislative style.

The President and the RNC along with a small cadre of Pro Amnesty big business bought and paid for Senators, have sailed over the cliff…….there is no turning back for them……

THEY ARE DEAD REPUBLICANS WALKING….

The question is how many other Republicans will follow them into the abyss.

Go to any Conservative Blog and read the comments to any post about the immigration Bill….. Open any newspaper and read letters to the editor…Go to any online mainstream media news site that allows reader interaction…national….local…it doesn’t matter…..look at the results of every poll that asks questions not rigged to get a desired result….ask any American that doesn’t have a vested interest in using illegal immigrants to make higher profits…..

And if you think Blogs don’t represent what American Republicans are thinking?….Look Again….. Instapundit:around 5 million hits a month Ace of Spades:Around 600,000 hits a month Michelle Malkin:over 3 million hits a month Hot Air:over 2 million hits a month Plus thousands of smaller conservative blogs with loyal Republican readers……..

Americans….and Republicans see what’s going on….They know what Bush is trying to do. They know why this bill was crafted behind closed doors. An idiot can see it. The only way this bill could possibly succeed was to ram it through …when that didn’t work they tried to intimidate Republicans by impugning their motives calling them Racist Bigots who didn’t want what’s best for the country….when that didn’t work they are now trying to bribe and threaten the Senators who have opposed the bill….. It is so grossly transparent, that in the eyes of The Republican base, they have gone too far….. and worse, they have gone there for the wrong reasons.

Whether they choose to support or oppose what the people who elected them consider a massive failure, will be revealed in the next few weeks. A VOTE FOR CLOTURE IS A PRO AMNESTY VOTE REGARDLESS OF HOW THEY VOTED ON THE FAKE AMENDMENTS……PERIOD

NOT MAKING THE “MOSTLY DEAD” GROUP:(but could possibly join) Burr (R-N.C.) Chambliss (R-Ga.) Ensign (R-Nev.) Isakson (R-Ga.) Thune (R-S.D.)

COMMENTS FROM SOME OF THE CITIZENS WHO SUPPORTED AND ELECTED THEM:

Bye bye, GOP. I, for one, welcome our new Democrat overlords

They’re going to push the amnesty bill again, and this time they’ll vote for it. The keys? A scheme to spend a paltry $4.4 billion on border security — borrowed from the Treasury department, for some reason, rather than appropriated — supposed “first,” that is, immediately, and yet they’re plotting to pass amnesty before a nickel of this money is actually spent on improving border security. No fence, no computer system finally up and running to track immigrants, no biometric ID cards, no employment-eligibility system operational, no end to sanctuary cities — nothing. Just more promises.

FLASH TO NOVEMBER 2008

SCREEN OPENS TO A MOTHER AND FATHER SITTING ON A COUCH…..FRAMED PICTURE OF THEIR DAUGHTER IN HER CHEERLEADING OUTFIT IN FRONT OF THEM ON THE COFFEE TABLE: ” In 2007 our daughter was killed in a car wreck by a Z visa immigrant who had a criminal record and 2 previous drunk driving convictions. Republican Senator_____________ voted to allow people who couldn’t even read a stop sign to get Amnesty and come into our country. I’m not against legal immigration, but why would they let someone who had already broken our laws stay here? ZOOM IN TO FRAMED PICTURE…… FADE TO BLACK….. My name is ____________ and I will vote to repeal the Z visa portion of the Amnesty Bill that my opponent passed. This is just another example of how Senator __________ has lost touch with his constituents. Americans didn’t support this legislation then…..and they don’t support it now! VOTE FOR _________ A conservative who doesn’t believe Amnesty for lawbreakers was worth the price Americans are having to pay. FADE TO BLACK……… Yeah……..face that next November………….

A VOTE FOR CLOTURE IS A PRO AMNESTY VOTE REGARDLESS OF HOW THEY VOTED ON THE FAKE AMENDMENTS……PERIOD

NEED A LITTLE MORE CONVINCING? COMMENTS FROM SOME OF THE CITIZENS WHO SUPPORTED AND ELECTED THEM:

“And yet they still get their amnesty before any enforcement measures take place, only this time they borrow money to allocate to the “triggers” that have already been mandated but largely ignored. Of the $4.4 billion, I expect $1 billion in pork, $3 billion to facilitate amnesty, $399,999,980 for some toys and buildings, and $20 for the fence. Again, it’s political blackmail- the message is that they won’t fund the mandated immigration enforcement measures unless they first get their amnesty.”

“Bye bye, GOP. I, for one, welcome our new Democrat overlords..”

“They’re going to push the amnesty bill again, and this time they’ll vote for it. Just more promises.”

“How many times does it need to be said? Your promises count for nothing when you are merely promising to do what you already could be doing, but flatly refuse to do. The attitude continues to be John McCain’s “I’ll build the goddamned fence” only if forced to do so.”

“And the moment their precious amnesty passes — when we no longer have any leverage or bargaining power — they won’t be so forced to do that which is clearly anathema to them. 1986 all over again — except this time it’s worse, because it won’t be forgiven or forgotten.”

“Pot-banging tantrum-throwing Senator Lindsey Graham now says this bill isn’t about immigration at all, but about our very ability as a nation to pass piece of shit bills. I’m not sure I’m really sold on the importance of our ability to pass piece of shit bills, but for Lindsay Graham and the media, it’s a critical test of the American experiment in democracy.”

“There are guys in there like Coburn that could serve in perpetuity for all I care. What we really need to do is get everyone to stop donating to the RNC and to the House and Senate campaign committees. Send all of our donations directly to candidates who support the ideals that we support.”

“It is no longer possible to believe this group thinks it’s doing what is best for Conservative Americans. The only thing holding the remanants of the conservative base together is it’s belief that no matter how much damage the Bush years wreak on Conservatives, they are a sturdy bunch.”

“Let me ask a few rhetoricals: Do Democrats hate Bush? Have they supported anything he proposes? Would they relish punishing Bush (remember, this is the same group that invented Plamegate and “Bush lied us into war”)? Do they now have the majority they need to make a big, bold statement? Is not enforcing the nation’s laws an impeachable offense? Seems to me the Democrats have everything they need to try impeachment proceedings, yet they don’t. Why? Because they have the biggest amnesty cheerleader on the planet in their corner and want to milk him for all he’s worth, knowing that it will change the fabric of this nation for a generation, perhaps generations. And the GOP is complying. The GOP is dying before our eyes. We’ve been watching it get sick since shortly after the Contract with America was made, but it’s in its last throes now. Bush I weakened it, Bush II killed it, and the GOP Congresscritters are celebrating with a chalice of arsenic. Now that’s a legacy fit for a Kennedy. Bottoms up!”

Seems to me the Democrats have everything they need to try impeachment proceedings, yet they don’t. Why? When your political enemies are committing suicide you do not interfere.

Betrayal IS an art form. I’m re-registering as an independent. If the majority of repub registered voters did that, the message would be loud and clear to the morons in congress. God I hate them. F_____g useless self-serving bastards all.

This is just like that feeling you get just before you know you’re going to hurl….the queasy stomach…the bile starting come up, the breaking out in a cold sweat…the heaving stomach….you desperately don’t want to be sick, but you know its going to happen anyway….amnesty! (Only with amnesty, you WON”T be feeling better afterwards.)

I figured when everyone was shooting their six-guns in the air last Thursday, celebrating the death of this piece of shit bill, that there was going to be some serious heart-ache this week. This amnesty is more “precious….my precious”….to Bush and the amnesty Senators than you or I can possibly imagine. There was simply no way that Big bid’ness was not going to see this amnesty get rammed through. As of today, Lindsey Grahmnesty put everyone on notice that its “not about immigration anymore.” It never was. It’s just beyond sad to see so many honest, straightforward, heartfelt Americans expressing themselves to their elected representatives, only to see it all fall on deaf ears - and not only that, but to be laughed at to their faces while the politicians pocket the REAL money from the only people whose opinions matter on this issue, and vote the other way.

I have had the feeling over the last few years that everything was working backwards and things just didnt feel right. Up is down and all that. But this? This is blatant. After the uproar last week about amnesty, these people just told us all to f__k off. They act like they didn’t get their office emails and fax lines flooded by those of us against this bill. They literally do NOT give two shits what we say. Where exactly do we go from here? This is totally like being smashed in the face with a 2×4. Only the 2×4 is the realization that they REALLY REALLY don’t represent us.

Tancredo Throws Down the Gauntlet to the Senate

The main of this post is cross-posted by Freedom of Philadelphia, but a few words first:

This is, apparently, the last weekend before a Senate debate and vote on Illegal Immigration. I'd like to think that each Republican Senator is seriously thinking about his/her ability to quell this beast of a bill.

At the end of this post is a link to several very good posts on illegal immigration. Be sure to read the words of Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn from Right Truth explaining why the border fence was funded, but isn't now, and how earmarks are addressed on the floor of the House of Representatives.

In the meantime, 2008 Presidential candidate, Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO) is doing what he does best: put America and American citizens first.

Read this good news as reported by Freedom of Philadelphia:

Saw this over at hot air.com and for all those against this Shamnesty bill it’s really good news. So good that it just made my terrible week fine and dandy.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi: Political Hack

By Stanford Matthews Blog @ MoreWhat.com Speaker PelosiOMG, so much political suspense and intrigue. Can Speaker Pelosi hide the fact that she will sell out anyone and anything for her personal political agenda? Doubt it. Is the Congressional Black Caucus beginning to regret any previous support of Speaker Pelosi? How does Steny Hoyer feel about Pelosi picking Murtha first for House Majority Leader? How does Murtha feel about his party ignoring him? Like that would matter to Jack Murtha.

This story illuminates the other failures of the Democratic majority in Congress. The Dems continue to claim the midterms were a voter mandate giving them license to torture the American people while they accuse President Bush of doing the same to terrorists. The Dems also claim 'the American people have spoken' and given the Democratic party their approval for surrender in Iraq and on the war on terror. Their illustrious candidate for President, John Edwards, refers to the war on terror as a 'bumper sticker' slogan. That is because he doesn't have a clue and like other Dems will pander to the fringe for votes.

DemsBesides Pelosi, other prominent Democratic party members like Feinstein and Boxer want all the illegal immigrants they can fit in California. Not because the illegals yearn to be free, but the money is good in illegal immigration. All at the expense of American citizens and the future of this nation.

Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards all favor surrender, amnesty and any position on any issue that will get them elected. So it makes you wonder why the Congressional Black Caucus ever trusted Pelosi to respond in a manner that supports their goals. Talk about a party of lost sheep. And Harry Reid climbed on board as he saw his political fortunes in last year's midterms. Rather short-sighted and naive of old Harry, wasn't it.

GOPThe GOP deserved to get their due in the midterms. But only as a throw the bums out in terms of incumbents in which case the only alternative is usually the Democratic challenger. And the Dems thought the American public would buy in to the mandate speech. Sure, that is why the Congressional approval rating sank lower than the President's all time low after the midterms. One could really look forward to more voter solutions in 2008. And the party pundits should reload their calculators. So far they haven't understood the public is not happy and party favoritism is fading on both sides.

definition: political hack - a politician who belongs to a small clique that controls a political party for private rather than public ends source:thefreedictionary.com

Democrats Fear a Wider Black Caucus-Pelosi Rift

By Jonathan Weisman Washington Post Staff Writer Tuesday, June 5, 2007; A04 Democratic leaders fear that Rep. William J. Jefferson's indictment yesterday on racketeering and bribery charges, coming exactly one year after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi engineered his ouster from the powerful Ways and Means Committee, could rekindle a smoldering dispute between the speaker and black lawmakers who were once pillars of her power.

La Raza La Radicals

By Jim Simpson

Outrages are coming so fast and furious these days that I am numb. It has become difficult to be outraged when practically everything politicians of both parties are doing is outrageous. But a recent proposal in Congress deserves mention. HR 1999, proposed in April by co-sponsors Ruben Hinojosa (D-TX) and Rick Renzi (R-AZ), would provide $10 million a year to a radical immigration group, the National Council of La Raza (meaning “the Race”). The bill offers funds for “community development and affordable housing projects and programs serving low-and moderate-income households,” for families of “Hispanic origin.” So giving immigrants the same free medical care, education, food, housing and income support available to all low income groups is not enough. Now we have to single them out for special treatment, empowering a radical organization in the process! And the bill does not discriminate between legal and illegal immigrants. I don’t need to tell you where most of the money will go. It is bad enough there are already programs that do this. The real dig is that NCLR gets to distribute the money, keeping them well endowed and cementing their position of influence within the immigrant community. NCLR challenges the “radical” label that Michelle Malkin, U.S. Congressmen and others have placed on them. On the NCLR website they make a forceful argument claiming they oppose illegal immigration, disavow separatist or racist Hispanic movements and only seek to bring Hispanics into the American mainstream by teaching English, respect for our laws, etc. Sounds truly inspiring. Of course the Congressman who had the guts to call them radicals has since conveniently died, and thus has no way of responding further. I like to be factual. Anyone who reads my columns knows that. So I looked into some of the organizations and causes they support. Remember proposition 187, the 1994 California ballot initiative that would have denied social services to illegal immigrants? What reasonable person would deny it’s insane to allow illegal immigrants to not only flagrantly violate our border laws, but then get all kinds of social services to award their criminality once they get here? It passed with 58% support. Any rational taxpaying citizen, Hispanic or otherwise should support it, right? Not La Rasa. They, along with other groups, successfully defeated it in court with the help of then Governor Gray Davis. Here’s their answer, as expressed in an address by former NCLR President Raul Yzaguirre at their 2003 Annual Conference:

Proposition 187 in California and similar proposals elsewhere were ugly efforts to hurt the Latino community. They were direct and blatant attacks.

But we fought back. We didn't passively sit back and accept someone else's fate for us. Maybe we surprised the bigots and the xenophobes. We got angry when they expected us to be meek.

Now the Hispanic community is being assaulted once more. This time they don't want to make you angry, so their tactics are subtle. But no matter how many nice words and glossy photos they hand us, a knife in the back is deadly even if it's delivered with a smile.

“Bigots,” “xenophobes,” that’s what we are. And “a knife in the back is deadly even if it's delivered with a smile.” That last snide remark was aimed at George W. Bush and other Republicans trying to court the Hispanic vote. Not bigoted? Not racist? Not radical? Certainly not grateful. This group has relied extensively on generous American foundation and government grants since its inception in 1968. They received $5.8 million from the Feds in 2005, according to their Annual Report, and now they may well get an additional $10 million/year for their trouble. How nice. It gets better. Have you heard of Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán, better known by its acronym MEChA? If you live in California, you have. This group’s website states “We are Chicanos and Chicanas of Aztlán reclaiming the land of out birth…” which according to their revisionist history includes areas of the Southwestern US. In their answer to critics’ charges of support for this radical separatist group, NCLR explain that MEChA is really just a “student organization whose primary objectives are educational” and that their founding charter’s radical goals don’t matter. To make their pathetic case, they cite, of all things, a passage from an LA Times article by one Gustavo Arellano that “few [MEChA] members take these dated relics of the 1960s seriously, if they even bothered to read them.” So we’re supposed to take the word of a Hispanic LA Times reporter as an answer to this serious charge?!? I went to the MEChA website. The first page states in bold print “The following documents are essential to the philosophy of MEChA. Every MEChista should be familiar with them,” referring to MEChA’s “National” Constitution, El Plan de Santa Barbara, and El Plan Espiritual de Aztlán. The Constitution states in its preamble: “Chicano and Chicana students of Aztlán must take upon themselves the responsibilities to promote Chicanismo within the community, politicizing our Raza [Race] with an emphasis on indigenous consciousness to continue the struggle for the self-determination of the Chicano people for the purpose of liberating Aztlán (emphasis mine).” To get a flavor for how these “liberated” people think, go to the following Aztlán news link, where the author discusses how the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse saga is being exploited by “Jewish pornographers,” or visit their news site, for a treatise from these enlightened Mexicans on their charming views of Americans. This is the same tripe you’d find coming from Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the American Socialist Party or MoveOn.org, Daily Kos, or Michael Moore come to think of it. Simply amazing how predictably similar they all are. The fact is that NCLR has teamed up with blatantly radical groups like the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) to thwart illegal immigration reform at every turn. NCLR’s website has a clean, professional look and their propaganda carries all the buzzwords designed to make them look moderate, very much like the equally-radical Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). They have similarly wrapped themselves in the mantle of moderation by cultivating friends in both parties, flattering gullible lawmakers. So are they polished? Yes. Do they fool a lot of people? Apparently. Are they really moderate? No. According to WorldNetDaily, NCLR had “virtual veto power” over the most recent Senate immigration proposal. These are the folks pushing immigration policy in the U.S. Is there anywhere left to turn?

With Your Stolen Identity, Life is Good for Illegals!

It's not easy to lead into a piece on illegal entry into this country. Everything has already been said, and in the MSM, every salient point against illegal entry has been ignored. The basic FACT...that would be the "illegality" of illegal entry, is viewed by many in the Senate and Congress as a noble step taken by one, or a family, to make a better life for themselves. From the illegal entry day forward, your rights and mine are abused. The most repulsive act of illegal entry is our stolen social security numbers and other forms of identity. Possession of an "identity" enables a much easier life for illegals. Unfortunately, these most important but unprotected identities are "who we are" in America. We must have a social security number from birth. Many Americans have ALREADY been notified they they owe Federal taxes for jobs they've never held, on wages they've never earned...or found credit cards and loans on record with financial institutions that they did not request and were unaware of, had credit trashed, and even been linked to violent crimes they did not commit. Where is the outrage on the floors of the House and Senate? For many of us, we WILL RECEIVE SUCH A NOTICE on some future day. I don't know about you, but this makes my blood boil. For Congress and the Senate to ignore this injurious and insulting behavior, in the name of "...but what else can we do - they are already here," is not acceptable. With stolen identities, illegals are thriving. Watch this short Heritage Foundation video explaining the unbelievable cost of illegals to American citizens. Then, if you are interested in more, read my summary of The Fiscal Cost of Low-Skill Immigrants to the U.S. Taxpayer at Heritage Foundation "Smacks Down" Low-Skilled Legal/Illegal Immigrants as Productive Assets. Email from Ramadi and New Veto of Iraq Bill

Cross Posted from Wake up America [Updates Below] This email follows the email I just posted about from Dave Thul in Al Asad Iraq concerning Appeal from Courage formally presenting their Appeal for Redress in support of our mission in Iraq, to members of Congress today. I am starting with words from the frontline by a man who used to think we should cut and run like hell, until he got there. From the Buzz Blog, hat tip to Take Our Country Back via the Victory Caucus Forums.

A friend of mine sent this to me. It’s from his brother Major Michael Rountree, M.D. who is currently stationed in Ramadi, Iraq. Oh by the way, Major Rountree voted for Al Gore in 2000.
“Back from seeing patients- thought you might be interested in my war thoughts- This war IS winnable irrelevant of what the ridiculous media say. I have not met one person here who thought otherwise, though I’ve met a lot disgruntled people because it is all on us in the Army. This war is more like fighting crime in New York- you don’t wake up one day and say “hey- its over!’. You gradually reduce the numbers to a livable level. We are fighting criminals here, not soldiers. When I volunteered I came to treat Americans in what I thought would be similar to the last days of Vietnam. But since living here 4 months, I have completely changed my mind. I dont believe we should pull out, and I don’t think we need to. We can win, and will, given time and enough men to act as police do in the cities. Anyway- thought youd be interested in a surprising opinion from the front lines, one I never expected to have. Tell anyone who claims differently that they are just plain wrong. Mike
Also in todays news, directly related to these words of our frontline military members, and Congress and the Senate's complete indiference to our military's words, we have yet another bill being proposed by Congress that will be vetoed, they know this, as they did with the last bill and yet they proceed to waste the time and the money, once again.
MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan., May 9 -- President Bush would veto the new Iraq spending bill being developed by House Democrats because it includes unacceptable language restricting funding, White House press secretary Tony Snow said Wednesday morning. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Snow said of the bill: "There are restrictions on funding and there are also some of the spending items that were mentioned in the first veto message that are still in the bill."
Hat Tip to Capatin's Quarters for bringing us Robert Gates, Baghdad Reid's, Carl Levin's and Steny Hoyer's previous words against this new bill that is being proposed. Gates:
And Defense Secretary Robert Gates told a Senate committee that such short-term funding would be very disruptive and "have a huge impact" on contracts to repair and replace equipment. The Defense Department, he said, just doesn't "have the agility to manage a two month appropriation." Gates also told the Senate Defense Appropriations panel that if the military begins to see progress in Iraq later this fall, including political reconciliation within the Iraqi government, the U.S. could begin withdrawing troops.
Baghdad Reid:
Asked if he would back a proposal floating around the House of Representatives to fund the war for just three months as a compromise to the war funding dispute, Reid said, "I personally don't support that."
Levin:
“I don’t think that’s the best approach,” Senate Armed Services Chairman Carl Levin (D-Mich) said Friday. “I think it’s too close to the end of the fiscal year for that.” Senate Democratic aides also downplayed the chances that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) would agree to try to pass short-term funding bills for the war, noting that it likely would tie the Senate floor in knots and prevent Reid from bringing up other Democratic legislative priorities...
Hoyer:
Many senators, as well as House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), say they’re not inclined to support a two-month supplemental. “There are a lot of ideas being discussed, and Mr. Hoyer personally feels that at this time he doesn't see that particular option moving forward,” said Hoyer spokeswoman Stacey Farnen Bernards.
These political games being played by Congress and the Senate are seriously hindering our efforts and it is clear to anyone watching, here or abroad that the Democrats and the far left are doing everything in their ability to lose this war on terror for America. Captain Ed doesn't see this latest brainstorm gaining any traction:
I don't see this option gaining too much traction, not without these Democrats having to publicly reverse themselves within a few weeks of these statements. The sure way to look weak and vacillating is to start flip-flopping all over the place while our troops run out of money on the front lines, and they certainly can't afford to do that while making Bush look even stronger through another veto.
I am not sure the Democrats care much about flip flopping but he could be right, we will have to see. In the meantime Pelosi, our Darling Damascus Diva is threatening to sue Bush:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is threatening to take President Bush to court if he issues a signing statement as a way of sidestepping a carefully crafted compromise Iraq war spending bill.
Although later in the article it points out that this has been tied before with other presidents and has failed.
In the 1970s, congressional Democrats tried to get the courts to force President Nixon to stop bombing in Cambodia. The courts ruled that dissident lawmakers could not sue solely to obtain outcomes they could not secure in Congress. In order to hear an argument, a federal court would have to grant what is known as “standing,” meaning that lawmakers would have to show that Bush is willfully ignoring a bill Congress passed and that he signed into law. The House would have to demonstrate what is called “injury in fact.” A court might accept the case if “it is clear that the legislature has exhausted its ability to do anything more,” a former general counsel to the House of Representatives, Stanley Brand, said. Lawmakers have tried to sue presidents in the past for taking what they consider to be illegal military action, but courts have rejected such suits.
Probably won't stop her from trying and honestly, I would love to see Pelosi laughed out of court for such an action, further showing the world that she is incompetent and foolish as well as ignorant of how these things work. In yet another piece we find that Pelosi is also treading on thin ice with one of her beloved "earmarks" or "pork":
When Dennis Hastert was accused of profiting from congressional earmarks last year, media went into a front-page frenzy over "corruption." With Nancy Pelosi now in the same spot, it's a back-page story. In case you haven't heard, and maybe you haven't, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi slipped in a $25 million provision for San Francisco's waterfront on a $15 billion federal water bill at the last minute. It's pork barrel spending, yes, but more than that. Republicans are crying foul because the federal cash for port improvements and the bill's provision for Pier 35 cruise ship dockage all benefit a toney area of San Francisco — one where Pelosi's husband just happens to own real estate about a mile away. His properties are close enough to benefit from the inflow of federal cash to the area — and from the added business the new development will bring. At the very least, the question should be raised because he definitely has friends in high places. To be fair, Pelosi's earmark is going to a touristy area near Coit Tower, where plenty of San Francisco's movers and shakers could potentially benefit from the trough's offerings, too. Given the small size of San Francisco, maybe it's impossible to avoid conflicts. But that's just it. When the last House Speaker, Dennis Hastert, made a $2 million profit from selling land almost six miles from a highway project he secured a $200 million earmark for in 2005, the outcry was loud about how he might have served himself. The media ran front-page stories on it for days and television commentators harrumphed about public corruption — the GOP kind. Now that Democrat Pelosi has secured an earmark for some land a mere 5,400 feet from her husband's property, there are no front-page stories. But there should be, because this isn't the first time she's been noticeably helpful to her own interests. A few months ago, Pelosi wrote a provision into a minimum wage law that exempted American Samoa from its costs to businesses. The exemption benefited Starkist, whose Del Monte headquarters is in Pelosi's district. Like this pork issue, that story dropped from the news like a dead fish. As far as we can tell, only the Associated Press and New York Post have reported the story, and local papers are asleep. Much of the media has tucked the lonely AP story onto their back pages for appearances' sake. But in practical terms, this story will drop from the pier fast and sink without notice. Maybe Pelosi did something wrong and maybe she didn't. Were phone calls made from Union Street lobbyists, or were deals cut at The Palm? Is there something about the law that makes it impossible to follow? We don't know because the media aren't on it. The one thing we do know is that the media shows one standard of coverage for charges made against Republicans and another standard for Democrats. With Pelosi on the hot seat this time, this news probably will get deep-sixed. It shouldn't.
Media Bias at work here? [Update] Other good news coming from Iraq:
Sheiks sign peace agreement TIKRIT — In an effort to end tribal conflicts that have been occurring for decades, the paramount sheiks from the Karki and Shimouri tribes signed a peace agreement at the home of the Mujema tribal leader in Diyala province, Monday. Sheik Thaer Ghadban Ibrahim, Karki paramount sheik, and Sheik Ahmad Abdullah Hassooni, Shimouri paramount sheik, have been meeting for the past three months to work out grievances between tribes. By signing the agreement, the tribes promised to “consolidate and unify to battle all insurgents that penetrate among [their] tribes.” “The people have no confidence in the terrorists’ ways and ultimate goals for death and destruction,” said Col. David W. Sutherland, 3rd Brigade Combat Team commander and senior U.S. Army officer in Diyala. “This initiative and agreement by the tribes shows their commitment to their people, this country’s stability, and a positive vision for the future.” Specifics of the agreement include freeing previous kidnapped victims and stopping all kidnapping and killing operations; stopping indirect-fire attacks; providing the Iraqi police any members of their tribes which may be linked to insurgent groups; supporting the Iraqi army and police against terrorists; and resolving farming issues among the tribes. “We are all with you against the terrorists,” Ahmed said. After signing the agreement, Thaer and Ahmad placed their hand on the Koran to signify their commitment to the peace agreement. Within the upcoming months, more paramount sheiks are expected to meet and come to similar agreements toward peace.
[Update #2] The Good News From Iraq just got better, thanks to Bill Roggio:
The Anbar Salvation Council, the group of tribal leaders and former Sunni insurgents, continues to expand its base of support in the Sunni community both inside Anbar province, and beyond. Sam Dagher of the Christian Science Monitor reports on a major development in Anbar province. The Anbar Salvation Council, led by Sheikh Abdul Sattar Abu Rishawi, has turned the Albu Fahd tribe against al Qaeda. The Albu Fahd was one of the six original Anbari tribes to support al Qaeda and its Islamic State in Iraq. These six tribes are known in some military intelligence circles as the "Sinister Six". The Albu Fahd [described as the Bu-Fahed] has now joined the Anbar Salvation Council and pledged to throw its weight behind the fight against al Qaeda. "Winning over the Bu-Fahed tribe was a coup," said Mr. Dagher, who covered the tribal meeting where the Albu Fahd moved into the camp of the Anbar Salvation Council. "It had been one of Al Qaeda's staunchest supporters, and traces its lineage to the birthplace of the puritan form of Sunni Islam known as Wahhabism in the Saudi Arabian province of Najd. It formally threw its lot behind Sheikh Abdel-Sattar Abu Risha." As of last September, the leadership of 25 of the 31 Anbari tribes were cooperating with the government under the aegis of the Anbar Salvation Council, while six folded under the black banner of al Qaeda in Iraq's Islamic State......
Read the rest!!!! Perhaps someone should hand deliver these reports to Pelosi and her merry band of surrenderers. .

After Veto, Democrats Still Pitching Defeat and Surrender

Cross Posted with Permission from Right in a Left World After telling Democrats for months that any bill for funding our Troops containing an artificial deadline would be swiftly vetoed, President Bush did just that. As if taken by surprise, Democrat party leaders acted surprised and even though they had previously said they wished to desired to negotiate with Republicans, they are lined up with new plans for surrender and defeat in the War on Terror after failing to garner enough votes to override the veto. Harry Reid (D. Nv), infamous now for his “the war is lost” gaffe, says, "No one wants out of Iraq more than I do," adding, "There is nothing off the table -- including timetables, benchmarks, waivers from the president, waivers from the secretary of defense. ... Nothing." Reid continues to insist on a Troop pullout. Dick Durbin, (D.Ill), famous for the labeling of our Troops as Nazis, Soviets and other repressive regime fame (since apologized for) says, "If we're not going to hold the overall administration accountable, let's at least hold the Iraqis accountable." Nancy Pelosi (D. Ca.), newly coronated Queen of the House, said, "The goal is obviously to strengthen our military, to support our troops, to honor our promises to our veterans, to hold the Iraqis accountable so that we can end this war, to bring stability to the region, to turn our attention to the War on Terror." HELLO, Ms. Pelosi, Iraq is the War on Terror. It is but one battle in the over all war and we can expect many more before we crush this radical Jihadist movement threatening world peace. We can expect them especially considering the Democrat party’s irresponsible comments and actions that embolden our enemies by telegraphing a date certain our Troops will be forced to cut and run John Edwards (D. NC), who would not acknowledge there actually is a War on Terror by raising his hand in response to a question posed to participants in the recent Democrat debates, proposes a unique method of ending any stalemate and funding our Troops now in Harm’s Way. His proposal: “They ought to do another bill, funding the troops, with a timetable for withdrawal and send it back. If he vetoes that one, then they ought to do it again.” That’s right. Edwards wants to just keep sending the same thing back time and time again! Even before President Bush vetoed the excessively flawed bill, Jack Murtha (D. Pa) of Marines killed Haditha civilians in cold blood fame and House Defense Appropriations Chairman advocates funding the Troops two months at a time. House Defense appropriator Jim Moran (D. Va.) said a two-month bill is intended to keep troops funded without giving the president too much latitude. That’s right, tie everybody’s hands behind their backs while fighting for our freedom and facing the most gruesome enemy they have ever had to face. John Kerry (D. Ma) of "You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq" fame says, "By vetoing this bill, the President is ignoring the majority in both the House and Senate who voted to end the disastrous open-ended Bush policy by setting a sensible deadline for the redeployment of troops," adding, “No matter how many times the President vetoes this plan, we will continue to fight for a new policy." There is no “new policy,” just the same old cut and run, retreat and surrender he advocated during Viet Nam, helping to bring about the disastrous result the world saw there. Hillary Clinton (D. NY) of ‘vast right winged conspiracy’ fame teams up with Robert Byrd (D. WV) of World War Two Ku Klux Klan heroism fame, jointly are proposing legislation requiring the president to seek a reauthorization from Congress to extend the military effort in Iraq beyond October 11, 2007, the fifth anniversary of the resolution granting authority to reengage Iraq. Says Clinton, "If the president will not bring himself to accept reality, it is time for Congress to bring reality to him." Obviously, she has forgotten when she said, “I can support an action against Saddam Hussein because I think it's in the long-term interests of our national security,” on NBC's "Meet The Press," September 15, 2002. Patty Murray (D. Wa) of ‘Osama bin Laden is popular in poor countries because he helped pay for schools, roads and even day care centers’ chimed in with, “I thought that we had given the president an opportunity to have a very strong tool to go back to Iraq and say, ‘You need to stand up and take responsibility for your country.’” Has she missed the deaths to Iraqis who succumb to suicide bombers outside of Police and Army recruitment offices in Iraq? And yet, they keep coming to sign up. Perhaps she missed the Sunni Muslim sheikhs joining the US in fighting Al Qaeda. Most telling in all this defeatist rhetoric we have come to see from the Democrat party is Neil Abercrombie (D. Hi), chairman of the Air and Land Forces Armed Services subcommittee recommendation of cutting $867 million from the Army’s Future Combat Systems (FCS) program. Abercrombie said, “The Army is in trouble. This situation requires dramatic action to prevent further decay … over the next two years.” Somehow, I just fail to grasp the logic of cutting funds for combat systems to prevent further decay of the Army during war. What World Does Pelosi Live In?

In a Follow up to this post, I see Pelosi has put up a public release in answer to the Wapo article saying the Democrats backed down from time tables for our surrender. After all the emails, videos and letters that I and many other bloggers have shown with our soldiers harsh words about time lines and the Democrats helping the enemies with trying to establish a surrender date for America's defeat, Pelosi, completely ignoring all of the above says this:

Good afternoon. The Congressional leadership just had a positive meeting with President Bush, where he expressed his willingness to work together, in good faith, and take the right approach to come together to find our common ground.

"Yesterday, the Congress sent a bill to the President, which we believe honored the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform. It supported our troops, it honored the sacrifices of our veterans, and it held the Iraqis accountable.

"The President chose to veto the bill. We made our position clear. He made his position clear. Now it is time for us to try to work together, to come together.

"But make no mistake: Democrats are committed to ending this war. And we hope to do so in unison with the President of the United States."

So, ignoring our soldiers letters, is actually HONORING and SUPPORTING them.

Be my voice. I want this message heard. It is mine and my platoon’s to the country. A man I know lost his legs the other night. He is in another company in our batallion. I can no longer be silent after watching the sacrifices made by Iraqis and Americans everyday.Send it to a congressman if you have to. Send it to FOX news if you have to. Let this message be heard please…

My fellow Americans, I have a task for those with the courage and fortitude to take it. I have a message that needs not fall on deaf ears. A vision the blind need to see. I am not a political man nor one with great wisdom. I am just a soldier who finds himself helping rebuild a country that he helped liberate a couple years ago.

I have watched on television how the American public questions why their mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters are fighting and dying in a country 9000 miles away from their own soil. Take the word of a soldier, for that is all I am, that our cause is a noble one. The reason we are here is one worth fighting for. A cause that has been the most costly and sought after cause in our small span of existence on our little planet. Bought in blood and paid for by those brave enough to give the ultimate sacrifice to obtain it. A right that is given to every man, woman, and child I believe by God. I am talking of freedom.

Freedom. One word but yet countless words could never capture it’s true meaning or power. “For those who have fought for it, freedom has a taste the protected will never know.” I read that once and it couldn’t be more true. It’s not the average American’s fault that he or she is “blind and deaf” to the taste of freedom. Most American’s are born into their God given right so it is all they ever know. I was once one of them. I would even dare to say that it isn’t surprising that they take for granted what they have had all their life. My experiences in the military however opened my eyes to the truth.

Ironically you will find the biggest outcries of opposition to our cause from those who have had no military experience and haven’t had to fight for freedom. I challenge all of those who are daring enough to question such a noble cause to come here for just a month and see it first hand. I have a feeling that many voices would be silenced.

I watched Cindy Sheehan sit on the President’s lawn and say that America isn’t worth dying for. Later she corrected herself and said Iraq isn’t worth dying for. She badmouthed all that her son had fought and died for. I bet he is rolling over in his grave.

Ladies and gentleman I ask you this. What if you lived in a country that wasn’t free? What if someone told you when you could have heat, electricity, and water? What if you had no sewage systems so human waste flowed into the streets? What if someone would kill you for bad-mouthing your government? What if you weren’t allowed to watch TV, connect to the internet, or have cell phones unless under extreme censorship? What if you couldn’t put shoes on your child’s feet?

You need not to have a great understanding of the world but rather common sense to realize that it is our duty as HUMAN BEINGS to free the oppressed. If you lived that way would you not want someone to help you????

The Iraqi’s pour into the streets to wave at us and when we liberated the cities during the war they gathered in the thousands to cheer, hug and kiss us. It was what the soldier’s in WW2 experienced, yet no one questioned their cause!! Saddam was no better than Hitler! He tortured and killed thousands of innocent people. We are heroes over here, yet American’s badmouth our President for having us here.

Every police station here has a dozen or more memorials for officers that were murdered trying to ensure that their people live free. These are husbands, fathers, and sons killed every day. What if it were your country? What would your choice be? Everything we fight for is worth the blood that may be shed. The media never reports the true HEROISM I witness everyday in the Iraqi’s. Yes there are bad one’s here, but I assure you they are a minuscule percent. Yet they are a number big enough to cause worry in this country’s future.

I have watched brave souls give their all and lose thier lives and limbs for this cause. I will no longer stand silent and let the “deaf and blind” be the only voice shouting. Stonewall Jackson once said, “All that I have, all that I am is at the service of the country.” For these brave souls who gave the ultimate sacrifice, including your son Cindy Sheehan, I will shout till I can no longer. These men and women are heroes. Their spirit lives on in their military and they will never be forgotten. They did not die in vain but rather for a cause that is larger than all of us.

My fellow countrymen and women, we are not overseas for our country alone but also another. We are here to spread democracy and freedom to those who KNOW the true taste of it because they fight for it everyday. You can see the desire in their eyes and I am honored to fight alongside them as an Infantryman in the 101st Airborne.

Freedom is not free, but yet it is everyone’s right to have. Ironic isn’t it? That is why we are here. Though you will always have the skeptics, I know that most of our military will agree with this message. Please, at the request of this soldier spread this message to all you know. We are in Operation Iraqi Freedom and that is our goal. It is a cause that I and thousands of others stand ready to pay the ultimate sacrifice for because, Cindy Sheehan, freedom is worth dying for, no matter what country it is! And after the world is free only then can we hope to have peace.

SGT Walter J. Rausch and 1st Platoon 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault)

What alternate reality is Pelosi living in and who the hell does she think she is kidding claiming she is honoring our soldiers and their sacrifices???? Guess she missed the letter above and perhaps she missed these also.
RedState brings us interviews with the troops in Iraq.
“There's not a single one of my soldiers who doesn’t look at the neighborhood we’re in, look at the children there, and not want to do whatever they can to give these kids as bright a future as possible. We want to finish this job, and we know we can do it.
I am going to show one more teaser from the RedState interviews with multiple soldiers, then if you want to see the rest, you have to go read it all yourself.
“The sense I get when talking to the other soldiers,” said a public affairs soldier, “is that the worst thing possible would be to give a date when we’re leaving, period. We all want to win, and to accomplish our mission, especially since we’ve put so much into doing it so far. To just up and leave would be terrible.” I asked what effect such statements as Harry Reid’s “the war is lost,” and Nancy Pelosi’s “the war on terror is not in Iraq” have on the troops’ morale and opinions of their mission, and also pointed out the relevance of John Kerry’s 1971 statement to Congress that nobody wants to be “the last man to die for a lost cause,” and asked how that – and the fact that Congress had just passed resolutions mandating troop pullouts in five months – and asked about that affect, as well. The response was, “It’s terrible. I mean, I understand political posturing and all that but it really is terrible. If the war is lost and we need to go home, then why do we need to stay here five more months, when I could die or my friends could die before we go home? The war is either over or it isn’t; this just doesn’t make sense.” The Specialist continued, “What we want is to keep helping the people here. The people at home who say these things, they don’t understand that these are people who have to live here after we leave, whatever the situation is. These people and the things that happen here aren’t real to them, and they can’t understand unless they’ve been here and seen it.”
At least our soldiers have the heart to care about the people they are trying to help, our soldiers have the humanity to understand the ramifications of withdrawal. They are not just there because they were ordered there, many of these men and women enlisted and re-enlisted knowing they would be going to Iraq and they did so for one reason.
Maybe she also missed this, an email sent to me:
Spree-
I wanted to leave a comment at your blog but the filtering software on my ISP is getting in the way. I've been in Iraq for over a year now, and the difference here in Anbar is amazing. Sen Reid is putting his own political career over my safety and the safety of my men who go outside the wire most every day. Thanks to folks like you back at home, we have hope that we can keep Congress off our backs long enough to get the job done right, and then we can go home with honor. Great blog, keep it up!

The argument regarding funding for the war on Capital Hill is frustrating for those of us with children serving in the bowels of Baghdad.
Further excerpts show this:
Nancy Pelosi declares that it’s sad that President Bush thinks that al-Qaeda is in Iraq. Even while she makes these sneering statements our Soldiers, our sons and our daughters, are fighting al-Qaeda in Iraq. High level Iraqi operatives have been captured in Iraq and the Congressmen and news media either ignore it or spend their time discussing whether or not our Troops, our sons and our daughters, will mistreat them while they are being held for questioning. The Troops, our sons and our daughters, are having their time down range extended. In many cases indefinitely. They are having to do repeated rotations. It’s a volunteer Army, that’s their job. But doesn’t it just grate on you to hear the criticism of every move they make? Doesn’t it just make your head explode to know that news media and progressives are just waiting for one to slip up, in the fog of war, and make a mistake so they can slander the American Military for the world to hear? Don’t you want to scream at those Congressmen and tell them to quit using our sons and our daughters for their own political gain?
In yet another excerpt she says:
There is a disconnect between the people in this country and our Soldiers fighting this war. We have little to no real help from other countries. Our Soldiers are in the dangerous areas. Our Soldiers are carrying the heaviest part of the load for the Western world. Our country forgot about 9/11. Everyone has moved on. Everyone except our enemy who still declares their intention to destroy us and the American Soldier who stands alone between them and us.
Please read her whole piece and take a look at the picture she has up. Maybe Pelosi also missed this touching letter.

American Soldier says,

I don’t understand the stance that the populace has taken towards our military. I feel as if I went off and did the wrong thing at times. Why can’t people see that we fight for a greater cause? We sacrifice so you can have freedoms. We don’t die and get maimed because we have done something wrong or our society has accepted something wrong. We fight the global war on terror. You all remember 9/12/01. You know what it felt like to lose people or feel helpless.

The days after 9/11 I went to ground zero and I helped savage what I could. I helped in the various rescue missions. I did what I could. I felt helpless like everyone else. People cried out towards me to help them. I could do nothing then but I swore I would do what I could in the days to follow.

It wasn’t more than a year later that I volunteered to enter the service again and soon after be deployed to fight for my country. I did what I did to help those who asked me those long days after 9/11. I swore it to them and I swore to myself that I would do what I needed to do.

Now, 6 years later I feel like the public is turning their back on me. Why do I feel this way? I know there is a community who will support me always but I reach out to those who oppose me. Why do you try to hurt me? Why do you try and take from my fellow brother who is forward and outside the wire right now?

I came so close to dying that I feel as if I’ve been given a second chance at life. I look back and I clearly remember how close it came. I could have been one of the many grave scenes in the film above. However I am not. I am alive and breathe life in and exhale my compassion. You wish I would just go away but I won’t. I am a warrior and I may die an old man who wore his Iraq Veteran hat with my many medals on it. Just like the generation before me.

Don’t hate me with such vile hatred. The bad man in the middle night will not hurt you because I have taken his life before he could reach you….remember that!

Maybe Pelosi also managed to miss this:

This is being cross posted from The American Ranger, with permission, of course. Many may remember SFC Chuck Grist from my interview with him, that can be found here. Now for the cross post:

I recently received multiple emails of an item titled “I’m Tired”. It was signed by Joe Repya, Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army, 101st Airborne Division. Some of those who forwarded the email questioned, as we all have a tendency to do, whether or not there really was a “Joe Repya”. Being on active duty, I managed to locate him and he sent me the following response regarding the “I’m Tired” letter. He confirmed that it was indeed his and that he had written it all the way back in 2005. After his email response to me, read his letter “I’m Tired” and I am sure you will be as impressed as I was: “Chuck, I wrote the letter to a friend in November, 2005, upon my return from Baghdad where I served with the Multi National Corps – Iraq (18th Airborne Corps) C-3 Headquarters. I didn’t realize he was going to post it on the internet until my email filled up about a week later. I was a voluntary retiree recall; 12,000 retirees volunteered and only 300 of us were returned to duty. I returned to active duty from 2004 – 2006 after retiring in 1998. I served as a combat infantry(2/506 Infantry, 101st Airborne Division) and air cav platoon leader in Vietnam (2/17 Cav, 101st Airborne Division 1970-71) and as a combat pilot in Desert Storm (Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, 1990-91). After my surgery in February, 2006, I never recuperated enough to get back to Iraq. Having turned 60 in March, 2006, my wife convinced me to ‘re-retire’. I’m very proud of the job our young people have and are doing and I’m convinced that at the end of this century, their generation will be named this century’s ‘Greatest Generation’. Please stay safe and keep up the fight! Joseph Repya Lieutenant Colonel, (Retired)" "I'm Tired" Two weeks ago, as I was starting my sixth month of duty in Iraq, I was forced to return to the USA for surgery for an injury I sustained prior to my deployment. With luck, I'll return to Iraq to finish my tour. I left Baghdad and a war that has every indication that we are winning, to return to a demoralized country much like the one I returned to in 1971 after my tour in Vietnam. Maybe it's because I'll turn 60 years old in just four months, but I'm tired: I'm tired of spineless politicians, both Democrat and Republican who lack the courage, fortitude, and character to see these difficult tasks through. I'm tired of the hypocrisy of politicians who want to rewrite history when the going gets tough. I'm tired of the disingenuous clamor from those that claim they 'Support the Troops' by wanting them to 'Cut and Run' before victory is achieved. I'm tired of a mainstream media that can only focus on car bombs and casualty reports because they are too afraid to leave the safety of their hotels to report on the courage and success our brave men and women are having on the battlefield. I'm tired that so many Americans think you can rebuild a dictatorship into a democracy over night. I'm tired that so many ignore the bravery of the Iraqi people to go to the voting booth and freely elect a Constitution and soon a permanent Parliament. I'm tired of the so called 'Elite Left' that prolongs this war by giving aid and comfort to our enemy, just as they did during the Vietnam War. I'm tired of antiwar protesters showing up at the funerals of our fallen soldiers. A family who's loved ones gave their life in a just and noble cause, only to be cruelly tormented on the funeral day by cowardly protesters is beyond shameful. I'm tired that my generation, the Baby Boom -- Vietnam generation, who have such a weak backbone that they can't stomach seeing the difficult tasks through to victory. I'm tired that some are more concerned about the treatment of captives than they are the slaughter and beheading of our citizens and allies. I'm tired that when we find mass graves it is seldom reported by the press, but mistreat a prisoner and it is front page news. Mostly, I'm tired that the people of this great nation didn't learn from history that there is no substitute for Victory. Sincerely, Joe Repya, Lieutenant Colonel, U. S. Army 101st Airborne Division
I could keep going all day long with the words of our soldiers belying the basic premise that Pelosi is or ever has "honored"or "supported"our soldiers. She hasn't just missed these letters, she has completely ignored them and then wants to claim she honors our troops? Claim that she supports our troops? What freaking world is SHE living in where she thinks stabbing our soldiers in the back, completely ignoring their words as well as ignoring their families words is honoring or supporting either? Have no doubt I will be emailing her these letters with the dozens and dozens more that she has ignored. Once again, Nancy Pelosi manages to lie directly to the worlds face and expects anyone to take her seriously? She is an embarrassment as a women, an embarrassment as an American and, frankly, an embarrassment as a human being. Cross Posted from Wake up America .
