Obama Jobs Scams Includes Poll Workers In Yesterday's Primaries

If you were a poll worker in yesterday's primaries, you are now required to file a tax withholding form for the "first time ever. Got that? The "first time ever."  This is nothing but a scam but to inflate the jobs numbers.

New York Post writer John Crudele asks" if this is a "little Election Eve trick."

The New York City Board of Elections, which uses 30,000 to 36,000 temporary workers for both the primary and general election, said it is being ordered by the Internal Revenue Service to make "employees" out of the very temporary workers who tend the polling sites...

"The Internal Revenue Service has determined that all poll workers are considered employees of the Board of Elections for tax purposes," said a Board memo dated Aug. 2 and signed by Rosanna Kostamoulas Rahmouni, coordinator of Election Day Operations.

"Therefore, the Board is required to have every poll worker complete the following before processing your application for work," her note added, listing tax forms W-4 and IT-2104 as necessary.

"It is imperative that you promptly submit the forms or you will not be paid for your training class or processed to work on Election Day," she said.

Although the note was dated Aug. 2 it apparently wasn't delivered to poll workers until very late in August. Workers get paid only $100 for training and $200 each day for working the primary and general election. So it's unlikely that the main purpose of this order is to collect the measly amount of taxes that would be owed -- mostly by the low-income retirees who man the polling centers -- on such a small amount of wages.

But if the election boards in all 50 states suddenly report an influx of additional government workers, the effect on the monthly employment numbers could be very, very significant.

Half of Americans Freeload - Pay No Taxes

A caller on Rush today said he and his wife had sold a home in New York City - did well, made a lot of money, moved to Pennsylvania and paid cash for another house. The man, Eric, hasn't worked in almost two years. He is on his second round of unemployment. His wife is a nurse and has had ongoing employment. The couple paid $900 in taxes last year. The government sent him a refund of $2,300.00. He said he was having a crisis of conscience.

We heard yesterday that 47% of all Americans pay nothing...absolutely nothing in federal income taxes. It is no surprise that so many disdain this country. They have absolutely nothing invested in the growth of America, they invest nothing in others...they take...they have televisions, two cars and cell phones. Many probably smoke, enjoy a scotch or a vodka. The kids have a internet connection, go to tanning booths and get manis-and-pedis and constant bottles of blue and lime nail polish, while being enrolled in school lunch programs. Fifty percent of Americans get a lot something for absolutely nothing. Everyone should pay something!

In recent years, credits for low-and middle -income familites have grown so much that a family of four making as much as $50,000 will owe no federal income tax for 200, as long as there are two children younger than 17...

The result is a tax system that exempts almost half the country from paying for programs that benefit everyone, including national defense, public safety, infrastructure and education. It is a system in which the top 10% of earners -- households making an average of $366,400 in 2006 -- paid about 73% of the income taxes collected by the federal government.

 Then there were the stimulus checks sent to each household. Those checks came of the monies 53% of us paid to the federal government for our unfair share.

The wealthy do enjoy some hefty taxcuts, which in many instances keeps them hiring, keeps them paying benefits for employees, keeps them consuming, which benefits everyone. But Obama is slashing those cuts. It is my deepest desire that everyone of the 47% feel the deeper government hand in the pocket of some wealthy person. I hope your benefits are eliminated.

Health Care Mandates Not Enforceable? Health Care Penalties Interest Not Enforceable?

As we wade through the numerous ways that the health care legislation may be unconstitutional, here's one saying the mandate to purchase may not be enforceable, according to the Joint Committee on Taxation. This is well-worth paying attention to - don't leave without reading the red text below.

[Richmond] "However, it turns out that the Democrats who crafted this bill significantly – and I mean significantly – hamstrung the ability of the IRS or any other federal agency to enforce or collect on this mandate. Here is what the federal Joint Committee on Taxation had to say about this issue in a report released earlier this week:

The penalty applies to any period the individual does not maintain minimum essential coverage and is determined monthly. The penalty is assessed through the Code and accounted for as an additional amount of Federal tax owed. However, it is not subject to the enforcement provisions of subtitle F of the Code. The use of liens and seizures otherwise authorized for collection of taxes does not apply to the collection of this penalty. Non-compliance with the personal responsibility requirement to have health coverage is not subject to criminal or civil penalties under the Code and interest does not accrue for failure to pay such assessments in a timely manner.

[Richmond] In other words, as the law is written the federal government has no legal authority to enforce this mandate, nor will it have any recourse to collect any penalties that go unpaid! ...

[Richmond] The net result will be an ever increasing shift of healthcare costs on to those who remain in the insurance system (or to tax payers), and possibly even the bankruptcy of the insurance industry. Given all the double-talk the past year over the public option, and the demonizing of private insurers, it is hard not to wonder whether this was by design...

Al Sharpton Organization Owes $1.5+M in Taxes: Sharptons National Action Network in Trouble?

Al Sharpton, Harlem's racial community organizer through the National Action Network, Inc. (NAN) allegedly owes "at least" $1,556,059 in FEDERAL TAXES and $108,489 in New York taxes. Remember when he was fined $497,000 for illegal campaign contributions when he ran for president in 2004?

In 2007 NAN took in $2.379,376 in revenue but spent $2,481,092...at the end of 2007 it owed $1,848,799 in "payroll taxes and related interest and penalties....

The flamboyant, scandal-prone Sharpton, who sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004, is known for his taste for luxury and for his skill in ducking creditors. He once bragged to the New York Times that he didn't own any business suits but had "access" to some. He would admit only to owning his wristwatch and wedding ring. His group ran up huge bills with a limousine service in New Jersey and had a $51,939 civil judgment entered against it in 2003.

Critics say Sharpton is an incendiary racial demagogue who is among the most polarizing figures in the nation. He boasts that he stopped Rush Limbaugh from buying a stake in an NFL team and (temporarily) ran Don Imus off the airwaves for racially insensitive marks. He became a national figure in 1987 by participating in the Tawana Brawley case, a racially charged gang rape hoax. Sharpton falsely accused assistant prosecutor Steve Pagones of participating in the gang rape. Pagones won a libel judgment against Sharpton. [all emphasis mine]

Here's how screwed up our values are, and we just keep letting it happen:

Big corporations give him money. Presidential candidates seek his endorsement. He has influential friends in Congress and the governor's mansion.

Charlie Rangel's Culture of Corruption

Rep. Charlie Rangel is one of the most corrupt Democrats in the party's culture of corruption. I first wrote that he would rank right up there after Rep. Barney Franks and Senator Chris Dodd. After researching the extent of his dishonorable transactions, I almost moved him to first place, but Franks and Dodd deserve "most corrupt" for their bankrupting of the country with the Community Reinvestment Act (ACT) and the housing meltdown. If we looked into the past of all Democrats in Congress today, would we find anything like what you will read about Charlie, who has at least twelve questionable transgressions looming. See 3-3-10 update below.

The first trangression is Rangel's ownership of four rent-controlled apartments in New York, one of which housed his campaign headquarters. New York City regulations prohibit businesses in rent-controlled properties. Rangel had used the apartment for business for over 10 years.

To own rent-controlled properties, Rangel had to keep his income below $175,000 annually. Anything over $175,000 made him "ineligible "as a hardship case." (Nope, it's not a joke!)

From New York Magazine:

The first became known in July 2008, when reports surfaced that Rangel owned four rent-controlled apartments in New York City, and he was running a business out of at least one of them. 

On the tenth floor of the Lenox Terrace in Harlem (where [New York Governor] David Paterson also has a rent-stabilized place) the congressman (whose net worth the Times estimates at $566,000 to $1.2 million) keeps a studio apartment for use as an office, for which he pays $660 a month.

Then on the sixteenth floor, he has combined a studio ($630), a one-bedroom ($1,329), and a two-bedroom ($1,329) into rather opulent spread that overlooks Manhattan. [a 2,500 square foot home]

Quoth the Times:

Mr. Rangel’s residence, which has custom moldings and dramatic archways, is decorated with Benin Bronze statues and antique carved walnut Italian chairs, and was featured in the 2003 book “Style and Grace: African Americans at Home,” by Michael Henry Adams (Bulfinch Press)… Mr. Rangel’s wife, Alma, is quoted describing the congressman as “the shopper in this family” who has a penchant for hunting down antiques like cut-glass champagne flutes and walnut chests to furnish their elegant abode.

The rent for all four of Rangel's apartments totaled $3,894 dollars in July 2008. Market price should have been closer to $8,000 a month. The New York Times points out that other New Yorkers are allowed only one apartment, while Rangel has four.

The bottom line of the rent controlled apartments amounted to about $30,000.00 a year owed. The owner of the apartment is Olnick Organization, from which Rangel received thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from one of the owners. The U.S.House didn't even reprimand Rangel. He was let off the hook by a vote of 254 to 138. I can find nothing conclusive that indicates Rangel will have to pay the underpaid rent receipts.

The second transgression is Rangel's beachfront villa he owns in the Dominican Republic at the Punta Cana Yacht Club. He rents it out when he is not in residence for about $500 a night in off-season, $1,100 a night in high season. Charlie didn't report the $75,000 income he received on the property. Rangel report income of $5,000 in 2004 and 2005, and no income at all in 2006 and 2007. He said he didn't know the income was taxable! This from the man who writes tax legislation for the Nation.

Rangel blamed this transgression on his wife. Said he had no idea he receive income on the property, and said she's the manager. And then there is the problem of the "language barrier." The people there were always speaking Spanish, said the Congressman.

So this transgression is apparently over. In September 2008, Rangel paid back taxes of $10,800.00 for at least three years on the Dominican property.

The income issue was sensitive for Charlie, because, you know, he had to show his hardship status to keep the New York City apartments.

The third trangression: Rangel's $52,000 mortgage at the Yacht Club was converted to an interest-free loan in 1990 - "violating House rules on gifts."

The fourth transgression: This cheeky guy also claimed a Washington, D.C. home as his primary residence from 1971-2000 and claimed homestead exemption on it. Problem is, that residence did not qualify for the exemption because he also claims homestead on his four rent controlled apartments in New York City.

The fifth transgression: Questions about the value of a Florida property in Sunny Isles.

The sixth transgression: On the House Ethics Committee's radar is Rangel's fund raising for the Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service at City College of New York. An attorney and donor is a principal ower of the Punta Cana Yacht Club. This transgression includes the use of congressional stationary to solicit donors.

The seventh transgression: In the Fall of 2008, Rangel promised to amend his tax returns and act like a taxpayer rather than  a tax evader. The deadline for doing was May 15, 2009. As of July 2009 amended returns had not been filed.

In the mean time, Rangel will file amended tax returns. While last week his lawyer Lanny Davis said Rangel would only owe city and state back taxes, now Davis says Rangel will also owe federal taxes (characterized as a "modest amount"). However, this is where it gets tricky: Per the NY Times, "Mr. Rangel’s failure to pay all his federal taxes could be politically significant, since he leads the House committee responsible for the federal tax code."

The eighth trangression: Caribbean trips (junckets) in 2007 and 2008 paid for by an unnamed corporation that was lobbying Rangel's Congressional Committee. Today, February 25th, The House Ethics Committee said they will "admonish" Rangel on Friday, February 26th.

The nineth transgression: An article in the New York Post in September 2008 said Rangel has been using a House of Representatives parking garage for years as free storage space for his old Mercedes-Benz - "a violation of congressional rules and a potential new tax woe...." House rules prohibit the use of garage for storage for longer than 45 days. The car has been sitting there for "years." The free space is consider "imputed income" and taxes must be paid on the space, at a value of $290 per month. The vehicle also does not have a license plate. Do we think Charlie will be forced to pay up? Nah.

The tenth transgression: In August 2009, Rangel amended his 2007 tax disclosures to show more than $500,000 in unreported income. He still lives in his rent-controlled apartments with hardship status. The New York Times claims he did not report a federal credit union account with a balance of between $250,000 and $500,000, as well as investments and stock - AND they charge the he did not pay property taxes on two New Jersey properties.

The eleventh transgression: Another problem with donations to the City College of New York school named after Rangel. A "tax shelter loophole" allowing tens of millions of dollars in tax breaks. Under Rangel's Ways and Means Committee, Nabors Industries has been allowed to open an outlet in Bermuda as a foreign corporation. The Nabors CEO, Eugene Isenberg gave the Rangel Center $100,000. Four other companies also benefitted from the loophole.

A bit of levity, Rep. John R. Carter (R-TX) introduced the Rangel Rule Act of 2009 (H.R. 735) stating that all taxpayers would be relieved of pay penalties and interest on back taxes, in honor of Charlie.

The twelfth transgression: Several newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune, the L.A.Times, the Washington Post and the AP charged that Rangel received campaign contributions for holding up pending legislation that prevent $2.9 billion of U.S. Tax dollars from going to Diageo (wine and spirits corporation) - and dubbed it the Diageo Rum Bailout. The Hill reported that the figure was $3.0 billion in bailouts. Diageo is the world's largest liquor distiller. Diageo was the recipient of TARP funds.

Charles Rangel, the master of tax legislation, proposed the largest tax increase in American history in 2007...dubbed the "Mother of all tax Bills" by Rangel the tax evader. The bill, had it passed, would have brought a tax increase of $3.5 trillion.

Can anyone explain why this man is not in prison, and at least, why he has not lost his chairmanship? Oh...yes, of course, he's a Democrat and they never eat their own.

Update 3-3-10:

Rangel announced today in a one-line statement that he will temporarily step down from his House Ways and Means chairmanship while the Ethics Committee completes their probe into everything you read above. This takes Charlie off the radar for the November elections for his fellow Congressman. Rangel needs to fade into the background for awhile. I doubt we hear anymore from Ethics until next year.

Samantha Bell is Joseph Stacks Daughter: Stacks Daughter Proud of Father: Stack a Hero

Samantha Bell is Joseph Stack's daughter from a former marriage. Bell says she is proud of her father, and he is a hero for standing up against government injustice.

Joseph Stack is the pilot who flew his small aircraft into the front of a 7-story office building in Austin, Texas last week. The building housed IRS offices. His goal was to kill as many IRS workers as possible. One IRS agent, Vernon Hunter, 61, a Vietnam veteran, did lose his life.

Ms. Bell, 38,  says her dad was a hero and should be "respected." Bell was interviewed by phone this morning by Good Morning America. She lives in Norway, and wouldn't you know, she moved there because she lost her job when pregnant and Medicaid "would not take care of her."  She said she gets more for her money in Norway.  Good grief, I hope she never comes back here.

I think too many people lay around and wait for things to happen. But if nobody comes out and speaks up on behalf of injustice, then nothing will ever be accomplished."

I have many cases of people I know that are suffering in the hands of the government and people literally dying because they are not getting the help they need," she said.

The 38-year-old mother of three stopped short, however, of endorsing her father's last actions. The suicide plane attack was "inappropriate" and "wrong."

"His last actions, the suicide, the catastrophe that caused injuries and death, that was wrong," she said.

"He may have been somewhat frustrated, but he was a very quiet man," Bell continued. "The father I knew was a loving, caring, devoted man who cherished every moment with me and my three children, his grandchildren... This man who did this was not my father.

"He must've kept this bottled up all these years."

Joe Stacks Suicide Plane Packed with Fuel Bomb? IRS EyeWitness Sees Plane Coming

CNN is reporting that Joe Stack's suicide plane may have been packed with a fuel bomb. There is a working theory, that no one wants to lend their name to, that Stack may have replaced some of the plane's seats with a drum of fuel to cause maximum damage, and kill as many IRS employees as possible. One IRS employee inside the building saw the plane coming right at him.

The theory comes from the fact that a fuel drum is missing from the Georgetown Municipal airport where he kept his plane, and the Piper Cherokee PA-28 had several seats removed. Whether the seat were found at the airport or not is not clear.

I think there is a good chance he might have put it on his plane, said the official, who cautioned that investigators were still working that lead and sifting through the crash site.

The single-engine plane has a fuel tank capacity of 38 gallons and is equipped with four seats...

The FBI has taken the lead role in the investigation, saying that a federal agency was "basically assaulted."

William Winnie, an IRS agent on the third floor of the Eschelon One building, saw Stack's plane coming. It looked like it was coming right for his window

Andrew Jacobson was on the second floor when he heard a "big whoomp" and then a second explosion. He thought a bomb exploded. When I went to look out the window I saw wreckage, wheels and everything. That's when I realized it was a plane, said Jacobson, whose bloody hands were bandaged.

Jacobson, also an IRS revenue officer, said about six people couldn't use the stairwell because of smoke and debris. He found metal bar to bust a window so the group could crawl out on a concrete ledge where they were rescued by firefighters. 

"It was insane," said Matt Farney, 39, who was in the parking lot of a nearby Home Depot. "It didn't look like he was out of control or anything."

Reginaldo Tiul-Tiul, a dishwasher at the nearby Sushi Sake Japanese Cuisine, said he had just gotten off a bus and was waiting to go into work when he saw the plane crash.

"I looked at my co-worker and said, "Why is that plane so low?" Tiul-Tiul, 30, said in Spanish. "It went straight for the building."

Joe Stack murdered IRS worker, Vernon Hunter, 67. Hunter was a Revenue Officer Manager responsible for collections. His wife Valerie is also employed in the building. She was present when the plane struck but was able to evacuate the building. Stack and Mr. Hunter are the only deaths, but there were at least two critically injured. Apparently, the plane hit a second floor break room that empty at the time of the crash.

A comment in an article linked above said Stack's wife Sheryl spent the night before the suicide mission in a local hotel. That's odd because we were told she and her daughter were in the family home the day of the plane crash, when Stack torched the house. Supposedly, a neighbor saw the house fire and helped Sheryl Stack and her daughter get out of the burning house. Hear her statement in the video below, which is believe was given across the street from the burned-out home. The man speaking is Rayford Walker, a spokesman for the Stack family.

WaPo Skews Joe Stack's Manifesto?

Clifton at Another Black Conservative catches WaPo's Jonathan Capehart doing some heavy-handed editing to Joseph Andrew Stack's suicide/rant/manifesto. Surprise, surprise, an omission here, an omission there, and a mad man's words just might make him appear to be a Tea Party enthusiast. And a  an unsuspecting reader might think Stack's politics were in line with Janet Napolitano's "far right wing extremists," like maybe, returning warriors and retired vets.

If you missed the big story of Joseph Andrew Stack flying his small plan into a 7-story office building in Austin, Texas this week, killing himself and one other, wounding many, while attempting to take down the IRS offices there, you can read that story here.

Here's what Jonathan Capehart said:

There's no information yet on whether he was involved in any anti-government groups or whether he was a lone wolf. But after reading his 34-paragraph screed, I am struck by how his alienation is similar to that we're hearing from the extreme elements of the Tea Party movement.

When you sit a a big important news desk, at an elite newspaper like the Washington Post, and you can't make the latest sensational story what you want it to be, what do you do? Well, maybe you leave out the inconvenient parts. That's what JonathanCapehart appears to have done in his reporting on the suicide pilot's last words.

Capehart kind/sorta covers himself by saying "here are excepts I was able to snag before the FBI took Stack's site down," but of course, the complete manifesto is all over the Internet. You can read it here. The text in green text below are quotes from Stack that Capehart omitted.

Stack seemed to be suicidal mainly because of the IRS. Everything led back to taxes. He was distressed that religious organizations get tax breaks not available to the individual taxpayer, and he called the Catholic Church "vulgar" and "corrupt," and he referred to "the monsters of organized religion," making a "mockery of people who earn an honest living." "The inquisition is still alive and well today in this country."

Stack railed about GM receiving government assistance, and Capehart printed that, but Stack's diatribe against health care was curiously omitted...because this is no Tea Party position:

Yet at the same time, the joke we call the American medical system, including the drug and insurance companies, are murdering tens of thousands of people a year and stealing from the corpses and victims they cripple, and this country’s leaders don’t see this as important as bailing out a few of their vile, rich cronies.  Yet, the political “representatives” (thieves, liars, and self-serving scumbags is far more accurate) have endless time to sit around for year after year and debate the state of the “terrible health care problem”.  It’s clear they see no crisis as long as the dead people don’t get in the way of their corporate profits rolling in.

Tea Partiers like their health insurance. They want government to stay the heck away from it until the critical issues can be fixed - like tort reform and buying private insurance in the open marketplace, or across state lines. Tea Partiers want to retain their choices and promote competition among private insurers - never government-directed insurers, and they want the lawsuit scams to stop for the good of physicians, hospitals and patients.

Capehart omits Stack's remarks on patriotism -  the "incredible stupidity of the American public; ...you know, all that "crap about their "freedom...." When was the last time you heard Tea Partiers characterize freedom as "crap?"

Capehart ignores that as an 18-year-old college student, Stack was broke...was living on peanut butter and bread (or Ritz crackers when I could afford to splurge). But most college students are broke, and by the time a student reaches his 50's, chances are it will be a fond memory, not a battlecry. At the time he was living off peanut butter and bread, Stack met an elderly widow, who's husband's pension was raided by management and unions. The widow ate "cat food" to survive! Stack decided at the tender age of 18 he would never trust "big business."

Tea Party afficianados don't hate big business, because they know from big business comes small business, the lifeblood of America, and they would likely wear their "broke" stories as a badge of honor.

Capehart skips over Stack's comments about having a new wife and "a boatload of undocumented income," which led to a newly hired, but dishonest accountant. Over and over, Stack talks about the government stealing from the middle class - but that is not a Tea Party position. Tea Partiers want everyone to pay their fair share and not one penny more - no matter how much you have, or do not have. Everyone should be vested in our country, and no one should be penalized because of what they have, or do not have.

Then Capehart skips over Stack's stark disdain of G.W. Bush:

The recent presidential puppet GW Bush and his cronies in their eight years certainly reinforced for all of us that this criticism rings equally true for all of the government.

And somewhere in this, Stack says "violence not only is the answer, it is the only answer." Again, not a Tea Party position, but it would be a position of CNN and the Huffington Post.

At the end of Stack's rant, he closed with these two quotes, both of which Capehart omitted.

The communist creed: From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.

The capitalist creed: From each according to his gullibility, to each according to his greed.

How can we ignore that the communist creed quoted by Stark sounds noble,  is intended to be a noble statement - but was left out of Capehart's analysis. Why? Because it is decidedly unAmerican, and decidedly unTeaParty-ish.

The capitalist "creed," however, accuses every American of gullibly serving up taxes to the tax masters, without knowing we are doing so, while others greedily feed out of our trough. Among those actually paying taxes, there is no gullibility, and that's why Tea Partiers want smaller government. But one thing you won't find among the general Tea Party population, is the mindset that violence is the only answer, including racking up a body count, his and those around him, or those who loved him, as the only way to make America set up and take notice. Both are a part of Stack's manifesto.

Joseph Andrew Stack is Pilot Hitting Austin Building

The name Joseph Andrew Stack, or J. Andrew Stack, has just been released and reported by FOX to be the name of the person who flew his plane into the Austin Eschelon Building. Stack is 53 years old. He is a software engineer and is licensed to fly the Cherokee 140. Updates as available.

An online document is signed by "Joe Stack 1956-2010" and is dated 02/18/2010. It appears to be a very angry rant against the IRS, and maybe GW Bush. Read it here. Obviously, there is no way, at this time, to confirm that this Joe Stack is the same Joseph Andrew Stack involved in crashing a plane into the Eschelon One Building in Austin, TX.

Police have now confirmed that the pilot is the author of the rant/suicide note. Original here.

Arnold Schwartzenegger IRS Lein: Schwartzenegger Gerald Walpin Connection?

Back in June I asked why Inspector General Gerald Walpin launched an investigation into former NBA star and current Sacramento, California Mayor, Kevin Johnson. The answer to that question is that Schwarzenegger asked the feds to look into Johnson's non-profit St. Hope Academy, and Walpin got the assignment. Walpin's investigation showed that both Kevin Johnson and AmeriCorp had misused millions in federal funds - and worse, that Johnson was charged with inappropriate behavior by teenagers. The Governor's action was prompted by a report from the Sacramento County Child Protective Services. President Obama has a particular fondness for AmeriCorp and Kevin Johnson. Subsequently, after Walpin submitted his report to Congress, he was fired from his Inspector General position in an unprecedented move by the White House.

This week, we learned that the IRS filed a federal tax lien against all of Governor Schwarzenegger's properties last May. Could this be payback for Schwarzenegger's involvement in what has turned out to be another enormously embarrassing scandal for this administration? The odd thing about this, is supposedly, Schwarzenegger had received no notices that anything was amiss with this tax filings.

This report says:

...a copy of a lien document that says it is from the county recorder's office. That document shows that Schwarzenegger owes $39,047.20 from 2004 and $40,016.80 from 2005. The document also lists a section of the IRS code that suggests the debt may be penalties for a failure to report certain business transactions.

The Governor's office says:

No one, including the IRS, has notified the governor of any issues whatsoever with his taxes," McLear said. "We are contacting the IRS to determine if the document in question, which appears to be a penalty for missing info and not for unpaid taxes, is legitimate and if there is any discrepancy to resolve."

A few hours later, Schwarzenegger's office said they had talked to the IRS and there was a "mix-up."

The issue is completely unrelated to the payment of taxes," Schwarzenegger spokesman Aaron McLear said in a statement. "The matter will be resolved and the lien expunged without any penalty assessed upon the governor."

An IRS spokesman said whatever document was filed on the Governor would have to speak for itself - the IRS "does not comment on individual cases."

According to a code on the lien -- 6721 -- there were problems with so-called "information returns" submitted by the governor. Businesses and individuals are required to file such returns, including W-2s and 1099s, to document any payments made to employees or vendors over a calendar year.

Jeffrey Kahn, a Bay Area tax attorney consulted by the Mercury News, said liens filed under that code often involve insufficient reporting of payroll taxes, which are withheld from employees' paychecks to fund Social Security, MediCare and unemployment insurance.

Libertarian Advocate is also questioning IRS motives.

Here's another one - the fifth of Obama's nominees with tax problems. Lael Brainard is Obama's nominee for undersecretary of the Treasury for international affairs...and she didn't pay taxes in three tax years.

Brainard "was late" paying real estate taxes in 2005, 2006 and 2007, according NewsMax. The Senate Finance Committee is also questioning a deduction she took for running an office out of her home, on her 2008 return. She has since adjusted that deduction with the IRS.

Brainard comes from the liberal Brookings Institution, where she helped start the Global Economy and Development program. She is a veteran of the Clinton administration, where she worked as the deputy director of the National Economic Council under Gene Sperling. She also advised Obama during his 2008 presidential campaign.

Brainard is married to Kurt Campbell, President Obama's assistant secretary of state for East Asia and Pacific Affairs. Is there anyone in the Obama adminstration without a tax problem -  who pays taxes on time and correctly - like the rest of us out here?

Tom Coburn Calls IRS Investigation for CAIR

Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK), along with five House members, sent a formal request to the IRS to investigate the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

America, our country has granted non-profit status to CAIR, an unindicted co-conspirator in the scandalous Holyland Foundation's funding of terrorism - or as WorldNetDaily puts it:
the largest terror-finance case in U.S. history.

In its effort to repeal the Patriot Act anti-terrorism law in 2005, for example, CAIR made 72 trips to Congress, according to internal documents. "Muslim Mafia" notes Congress met just 150 days that year.

CAIR also spends $25,000 a year to organize a national "lobby day on the Hill" in which its members nationwide come to Washington – armed with CAIR talking points on a single issue – to meeting with their representatives.

IRS statutes also forbid CAIR from supporting or opposing anyone running for office, but CAIR has held political fundraisers benefitting Muslim U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., and other Democrats. The group also has used its resources to get out the vote for Ellison and Democrats in tight races.

In 2004, CAIR bussed Muslim voters from mosques to polls to support Democrats in key Florida counties.

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), the only Muslim member of Congress, and the first and only member to be sworn into office on a Koran, continues to help the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) raise money. Ellison was recently, and has been for years, a featured CAIR fundraiser.

The Minneapolis-area Democrat is just returning a courtesy. CAIR's Nihad Awad, who once claimed "I am a supporter of the Hamas movement" and James Yee, a Muslim Guantanamo cleric, spoke at Rep. Ellison's own political fundraiser. In October 2006, as a congressional candidate, Ellison was the keynote speaker for CAIR in Florida. That event went under-the-radar virtually no reporting except for FrontPageMag, and bloggers.

The fact that the FBI has broken all ties with CAIR, saying CAIR is not "an appropriate liasion partner," should be enough to divert Keith Ellison's affection for the organization. This report quotes an FBI assistant director, Richard C. Powers, saying the FBI is unsure whether the relationship between CAIR and Hamas ever was severed. So, with all of CAIR's presence on Capitol Hill, with their mammoth media blitzs and lobbying efforts, with their denial of terrorist ties, the FBI cannot support their claims...yet CAIR continues to walk the halls of Congress.

CAIR and its chairman emeritus, Omar Ahmad, were named un-indicted co-conspirators in the HLF case. Both Ahmad and CAIR's current national executive director, Nihad Awad, were revealed on government wiretaps as having been active participants in early Hamas-related organizational meetings in the United States. During testimony, FBI agent Lara Burns described CAIR as a front organization.

The American-born convert to Islam, Keith Ellison, also known as as Keith Ellison Muhammad, Keith X Ellison and Keith Hakim, according to Campus Watch also appeared with Prince Alwaleed bin-Talal, who you will remember had his $10 million donation to New York City after 9-11 rejected by then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

As CNN stated at the time, "the prince suggested U.S. policies in the Middle East contributed to the September 11 attacks."

In addition to Talal's inability to blame the terrorists for September 11, he has a record of financially supporting suicide bombing, having given $27 million to the Saudi Committee for the Support of the al-Quds Intifada through his Kingdom Holding Company . As the London Times stated in April of 2002, "The committee will continue to provide direct assistance to the families of Palestinian martyrs and those wounded while resisting the occupation."

The Weekly Standard calls Ellison "Louis Farrakhan's First Congressman." Others refer to him as "CAIR's first U.S. congressman. During his 2006 campaign, Ellison had to tap dance around his former (?) association with the Louis Farrakhan's Nation of Islam. He had the audacity to tell his Jewish voters that he did not realize the Nation of Islam was anti-semitic. That's all it took, and he gained the "endorsement of the Jewish Community Relations Council and the Minneapolis-based American Jewish World.

Family Matters reports that the Minnesota Congressman appeared in September at yet another CAIR event. Republicans from Arizona, Senator John Kyle and Reps. Trent Franks and John Shadegg wrote a joint letter to Ellison "urging" him to cancel his appearance.

...to reconsider associating with CAIR and to cancel his appearance. The Republican legislators cited the fact that CAIR hasquestionalbe ties to the terror group Hamas as established by evidence submitted in the recent Holy Land Foundation trial in which CAIR was named an unindicted co-conspirator. Further, there have been several high-ranking CAIR operatives who have been either indicted or convicted of having transgressed the law....

This week Ellison wrote an op-ed for The Hill. He says the years of sanctions on Iran have taught us one important less: sanctions don't work. He conveniently doesn't mention that the U.N.'s Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) has defeated every move to place meaningful sanctions on Iran.

In July 2007, Ellison addressed the Atheists for Human Rights and defined Dick Cheney and President Bush's actions as almost like the "Riechstag fire, kind of reminds me of that. After the Reichstag was burned, they blamed the Communists for it and it put the leader of that country [Hitler] in a position where he could basically have authority to do whatever he wanted. The fact is that I'm not saying [9-11-] was a [U.S.] plan, or anything like that because, you know, that's how they put you in the nut-ball box...

While Conservatives believe there are similarities to President Obama's agenda and Marxism - and are loudly criticized for it - Keith Ellison compared Dick Cheney and George W. Bush to Hilter, but only a tiny peep from the mainstream media.

Keith Ellison is another tax-invader-elected-official. He evaded monies due to the IRS for five separate years between 1992 and 2000. The IRS had to slap leins on his home. He failed to report 2006 "contributions, discrepancies in cash balances and misclassified disbursements, in 2002-2004 when he served in the Minnesota House.The Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board subpoenaed him, fined him numerous times and reprimanded him, and was sued twice by the State Attorney General..

This U.S. elected official did not pay traffic fines and tickets, and has had his driver's license suspended. This report cites the Star Tribune:

State records also show that Ellison has received nine traffic tickets for moving violations since January of 2000.

He got five for speeding, one for following too closely, one for failing to obey a sign, one for not having a driver's license with him, and one for not having proof of insurance.

Ellison acknowledged previous suspensions but said, "I don't know how many prior suspensions I've had. I don't keep count. ... At the end of the day, my thought is that this congressional district has a lot of problems, and we have to focus on those problems."

The Muslim American Society received "nearly $900,000 in taxpayer money in 2006 and 2007" and then sent Keith Ellison on his tony Haj to Mecca - all expenses paid - a $13,000+ trip for this spiritual sojourn.

It is time to get CAIR out of American politics, or at least, it is time the mainstream media began informing Americans on CAIR:

Much of the money that was funneled into the coffers of Ellison’s campaign can be traced to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), an organization that has ties to Hamas. In June of 1994, three leaders of the Islamic Association for Palestine (IAP), a group that was the brainchild of Hamas deputy Mousa Abu Marzook (Marzouk), incorporated CAIR. One of the leaders was CAIR’s Executive Director and, himself, a Hamas supporter, Nihad Awad.

Awad – who stated at a September 2000 rally, “[The Jews] have been saying ‘Next year in Jerusalem’; we say ‘Next year to all Palestine’” – personally gave thousands of dollars to Ellison’s campaign. The other head of CAIR, the group’s National Chairman, Parvez Ahmed, also gave large sums to Ellison. In addition, CAIR sponsored numerous fundraisers for Ellison – including secret fundraisers held outside the candidate’s state – where the group raised tens of thousands of dollars for him.

Cash for Clunkers Taxed: CARS Dealers Rebate Taxed

Clunker sellers will not be taxed on the rebate they receive from Clunker buyers. Clunker buyers, however, will be taxed - but guess what, this is the government and the government originally informed participating dealers that the rebate monies they receive back from the program (assuming they do) will not be taxed.

Participating dealers did not learn of this plan until Monday July 27th.

...the government bureaucracy responsible for administering the CARS program -- conducted a webinar for automobile dealers last Monday. During that session, retailers were reportedly told that the federal rebate cash they'd be receiving would be non-taxable. Now, for the buyers trading in so-called clunkers, this is indeed the case. Unfortunately for car dealers, however, it appears that NHTSA got the explanation wrong. ...the IRS issued an advisory bulletin yesterday confirming that yes, the federal rebates dealerships receive for CARS trades count as taxable gross income.

A dealer who is also an accountant points out that dealers paying tax on the rebates is as it should be. "...the CARS cash simply counts as a normal payment to the retailer, and thus is taxable." That makes sense, but what does not made sense is that the NHTSA got it wrong, and gave incorrect advice. Some dealers may have wanted to make a decision based on being taxed, while dealing with a huge, enormously disorganized government program that is time consuming and almost impossible to navigate. After all, "time" is worth something. Another consideration may be the time period that the dealer has money tied-up, awaiting government reimbursement. What do you think? Tax Liens Against John Kerry

Senator John Kerry's 2004 Presidential campaign has a $819,848 tax lien filed against it. Kerry says it is all a mistake - a clerical error, the IRS says it is a debt that needs to be paid.

The Kerry campaign says it paid the taxes in 2005. The IRS said no taxes had been filed, so Kerry et al refiled in ...2008, in response to an IRS request. The IRS says they have "made a demand for payment," but the lien remains unpaid.

The Senator charges that the IRS "mishandled payroll tax forms," and that the W-2's were correctly filed by his campaign in 2005. The IRS will not comment because they say it is against the law for them to do so.

According to OpenSecrets.org, Kerry's 2007 net worth ranges from $284 million to $388 million. In 2204, much closer to the campaign, his net worth was estimated between $236 million to $312 million. During the 2004 elections, it was believed that Kerry's wife, Teresa Hines Kerry, the heir to the Hines Ketchup fortune, was worth billions.

Tom Daschle & Nancy Killefer Withdraw from Obama's Nomination

I was in the middle of the post below when the announcement came that Tom Daschle (D-SD) has withdrawn his nomination to Secretary of Health and Human Services. One thing that strikes me, is all the talk about how "popular" Daschle, the former Majority and Minority Leader is in Washington.

He is not so popular with his voters. The good people of South Dakota "withdrew" him from the Senate a few years ago and placed Republican John Thune in the Daschle seat in 2004. Our Senators and Representatives should never discuss the "popularity" of their peers in Congress - especially when justifying the nomination of a person who has broken the law. Here are my thoughts before the withdrawal announcement - Jim DeMint deserves praise? UPDATE: HotAir is reporting that in addition to the "evaded" taxes we know about, Daschle also failed to pay $83,333 in consulting fees in 2007 and he claimed $15,000 in charitable donations to unqualified "charities," as well as this:

And that brings up another point. The Obama transition team knew full well that Daschle had significant tax problems when that vetting process began. Why did Obama insist on keeping Daschle at HHS? Daschle had spent the last few years as a high-profile lobbyist for the industry Obama wanted him to regulate, which is exactly what Obama promised not to do during the campaign. So now we have a lobbyist and a tax cheat rolled up into one person, whom Obama insists should run Health and Human Services, and he knew all of this well before announcing Daschle and submitting his name for confirmation. It’s not like Obama can claim to be surprised.

Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) has once again shown what integrity is all about. He is asking President Obama to withdraw former Senator Tom Daschle's nomination for Secretary of Health and Human Services for his failure to pay required taxes. Tom Daschle is one more tax evader nominated for entrance to the Obama inner circle. How pathetic are these nominations?

Nancy Killefer, the appointee to head the newly created Obama Chief Performance Officer czar, has today withdrawn her nomination - BECAUSE she did not pay taxes for household help. This woman held a high-powered job with the U.S. Treasury. During those years, it appears she paid her taxes. After leaving the Treasury, she "began" not paying, and she also stopped paying her quarterly taxes. The IRS put a lien on her house. Five months later, Killefer resolved the lien.

Killefer's husband is an economics professor, and she was a member of the Treasury Department under Clinton - she even oversaw the "modernization" of the IRS.

I think we've found the way to clean-up Congress. I'm calling for a complete audit of everyone in Congress. Any disgression and they're out. That will give the American people the opening to start all over again.

CAIR Donor List Protected by IRS

Today, we learned that we will not know the names of those "donating" to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in a Federal case that claims CAIR funneled monies to the Hamas Holy Land Foundation, along with other suspected terrorist groups. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) reportedly received about $59,000.00 in dues in 2006, a drop of some $674,000 since September 11. Their 2006 budget is beieved be about $3 million. The question is: who is funding CAIR? Who are the donors? It's an important question. The short and not so sweet story here is that the IRS has "redacted" the list of donor names. We know about how much was given by how many individual donors, but we do not know the identity of the donors. These people are in our neighborhoods, tight with the ACLU...all over Washington D.C. and Capitol Hill.
