Obama Skips Polish Embassy and Condolence Book

 Obama had a fresh opportunity to get back out on the golf course Sunday when his flight to Poland for the State funeral of President Lech Kaczynski and his wife was canceled due to flight conditions from the Iceland volcano. So he hit the links again, but has yet to go to the Polish Embassy to sign the condolence book out of respect for the country's loss.

Barack Obama has played 32 rounds of golf in his short time in office. By contrast, George W. Bush played golf only 24 times in his 8 years in office.

Flight conditions also prevented German Chancellor Angela Merkel's presence in Warsaw, as well as French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Britain's Prince Charles. I wonder if these three visited the Polish Embassy to sign a condolence book?

Here is what Czech Republic President, Vaclav Klaus, had to say about the EU opting out of honoring one of their own:

...it is absolutely unforgivable that some European leaders and officials from Brussels did not come to the funeral”, Klaus told the Czech Radio. “It is a proof that solidarity within the EU is just an empty word,” added the Czech President.

The only representative of the EU offices at the funeral was a Polish politician Jerzy Buzek, President of the European Parliament.

Tiger Bodyguard Thinks Spectator is Joslyn James

A spectator on the grounds of the August National watching practice rounds was approached by one of Tiger's 90+ bodyguards and accused of being porn star Joslyn James.

Tiger talks today, with small distractions like America battling Democrat health care, which passed tonight. He won't answer the question about how the accident happened. He is "so sorrowful" for what he has done. "I've hurt so many people." He says treatment/therapy was "tough." He got away from his Buddhism. He had quit meditating. He said he felt entitled, and had gotten away from his values. He says just because he is back on the golf course, doesn't mean he has stopped going to therapy, but he will not say what kind of therapy he is in. He is hoping for some smiles and claps from his fans at the Masters.

Tiger Woods has announced today that he will return to tournament play at the very proper and well-behaved August Masters, April 8th through April 11th. Woods has 4 Masters wins on his scorecards, and holds the record for the youngest Masters winner at the age of 21 with a 12-stroke lead:

"The Masters is where I won my first major and I view this tournament with great respect...After a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like I'm ready to start my season at Augusta. Fox News is reporting that Tiger Woods, 33, was seriously hurt in an auto accident. Woods was allegedly backing out of his neighborhood in his 2009 Cadillac Escalade - hit a fire hydrant and then a tree and is now in serious condition in a Florida hospital at approximately 2:30 a.m. The report is that air bags did not deploy, but if the car hit the hydrant from the back, it's possible they should not have deployed. Orlando Sentinel says some kind of charges are pending in this accident, according to FOX News.

From the Orlando Sentinel:

Woods, 33, pulled out of his driveway in the Isleworth community about 2:25 a.m. when he struck a fire hydrant, and then drove into a tree at his neighbor's property, FHP reported.

Woods was transported to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee in serious condition, FHP said. No other information about his condition has been released.

A Health Central hospital employee said at 2:30 p.m. that Woods was not a patient. A hospital operator would not say if Woods had been treated and released.

FHP said the airbags in Woods' Cadillac Escalade did not deploy, which means the vehicle was traveling under 33 mph.

Orange County Fire Rescue received the call for aid at 2:28 a.m. Woods was transported from his Windermere-area neighborhood by the hospital's own ambulance.

FHP did not report the accident until just after 2 p.m. today. The agency said the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.

The New York Post says that charges are pending but "alcohol did not play a role in the crash." FOX News has just confirmed that Highway Patrol confirm alcohol is not a factor.

According to CNBC, Woods' agent, Mark Steinberg told CNBC via email that Tiger "is fine."

Woods is one of the world's richest athletes, a leading force in sports marketing and the biggest draw on the PGA tour. He owns a $2.4 million home in the exclusive Isleworth subdivision near Orlando, where he returned to earlier this week after attending the Stanford-Cal football game. He tossed the coin at the start of the game and was inducted into Stanford's sports Hall of Fame at halftime.

Update 11-27-09 8:45 pm:

The latest report I've found said that Tiger's wife, Elin, heard the accident and used a golf club to break a window in his Cadillac SUV and pull him from the auto.

He was unconscious but breathing, and apparently was unconscious for about 6 minutes. This account from Windermere Mayor Gary Bruhn.

Bruhn said Woods had cuts on his lips and blood in his mouth. Officers gave Woods first aid until medical personnel arrived.

Troopers arrived at the Woods' home early Friday evening to talk to the golfer, Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Kim Montes said. Woods wife told them Woods was resting and asked them to return Saturday morning.

"People's health comes first," Montes said, noting that it is routine to agree to return to conduct an interview.

The sheriff's office would not identify who dialed 911, and emergency audio tapes were not available on Friday.

 Tiger "is in the middle of a two-week break in tournament play." Golfer Mark Wilson said he heard about the accident and is glad Woods is OK:

...he was probably leaving for an early-morning workout."

Update 11-27-09 8:55 p.m.:

Here's a report from TMZ which says that "law enforcement sources" say that the accident came right right after an argument with his wife Elin. TMZ says Elin told police the same story at the scene of the accident, and Tiger gave the same story to authorities at the hospital.

Breitbart is reporting that the Windmere police chief, Daniel Saylor, found Tiger in the street with is wife, Elin "hovering over him."

He was in and out of consciousness when my guys got there.

He said Woods had lacerations to his upper and lower lips, and blood in his mouth; officers treated Woods for about 10 minutes until an ambulance arrived.

Salor said his responding officers did not hear anything about an alledged argument between Woods and his wife.

Right now we believe this is a traffic crash. We don't believe it is domestic issue," patrol spokesman Sgt. Kim Montes, said.

Update 11-28-09:

 TMZ is reporting that Tiger's facial lacerations were caused by his wife, Elin. Allegedly, she confronted him about reports of an affair, and she scratched his face.

We're told he said his wife had confronted him about reports that he was seeing another woman. The argument got heated and, according to our source, she scratched his face up. We're told it was then Woods beat a hasty retreat for his SUV -- but according to our source, Woods says his wife followed behind with a golf club. As Tiger drove away, she struck the vehicle several times with the club.

The report also says that Tiger said, he was taking prescription pain medication for an injury and that might explain why he seemed "out of it" at the scene of the accident.

There are many reports of Tiger having an affair with Rachael Uchitel. I have been a Tiger fan for many years. I hope this is just a rumor.

Update 11-18-09 9:15 p.m. CST:

Barry Levine with the Enquirer was just on FOX. Here's some of what he said - paraphrased. He stands by the just released Enquirer story that Tiger is having an affair with Rachel Uchitel. He says the Enquirer does pay for information that can be verified, and the information they received from two of Rachel's friends was verified by lie detectors examinations.

In other Tiger news: He and Elin refused to meet with police again today.

Update 11-29-09: 911 Tapes:

These tapes are less than revealing. A neighbor called 911. A man reported that a neighbor was on the ground, and the neighbor was not breathing. The tape cut in an out.

Tiger's website has published a statement from him:

As you all know, I had a single-car accident earlier this week, and sustained some injuries. I have some cuts, bruising and right now I'm pretty sore.

This situation is my fault, and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I'm human and I'm not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn't happen again.

This is a private matter and I want to keep it that way. Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible.

The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false.

This incident has been stressful and very difficult for Elin, our family and me. I appreciate all the concern and well wishes that we have received. But, I would also ask for some understanding that my family and I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be.

FOX's Gregg Jarrett says that Tiger and Elin have hired an attorney, who then cancelled the follow-up interview with police.

The alleged "other woman," Rachel Uchitel has also hired lawyer, Gloria Allred.

Update 12-03-09:

TMZ is on Greta's On the Record: About Rachel Uchitel, TMZ says that Elin Woods actually spoke on the phone with Rache Uchitel after she grabbed the phone out of Tiger's hand, just before Tiger strode out of the house and wrecked the Escalade. According to TMZ, there is damage inside the Woods "vestibule."

TMZ says that Tiger and Rachel Uchitel talked on the telephone last night - Wednesday December 2nd.

Also saying that other women are coming out of the woodwork - and who knows if their stories are true.

Update 12-07-09:

NBC is reporting that an eye witness told police that Tiger Woods had consumed alcohol earlier in the day of the accident, and that he had been prescribed Ambien and Vicatin. This "eyewitness" is also said to be the same person who pulled Tiger out of the car. That person is believed to be his wife, Elin Woods, and that comes according to her earlier statement, which Tiger seemed to backup, although in this latest statement, Elin has not been named.

Update 12-10-09:

The official accident report contains a few details not previously reported. As we know, Elin was with Tiger when police arrived. He was breathing normally according to the report. Tiger "periodically" tried to get up but the police restrained him. The Escalade was still running and in contact with the tree. The fire hydrant was knocked out of the ground and was about 5' behind the Escalade. Both side windows behind the front seat were broken out. The front passenger seat could not be accessed due to damage to the hinges. A golf cart was in the roadway with" two golf clubs/irons lying on the ground next to the golf cart."

Beaufort South Carolina Golfer Loses Arm in Alligator Attack: Fripp Island Golfer Alligator Attack

A 77-year-old golfer tried retrieving his ball from a pond at a Fripp Island golf course in Beaufort, South Carolina and was grabbed by an alligator.

On No. 11 at the Ocean Creek Golf Course yesterday, according to The Beaufort Tribune, the alligator grabbed the unidentified man's arm and dragged him into the pond. Other golfers freed the man but not before the gator's thrashing took his arm.

The alligator was caught, killed and the arm was found in the gator's stomach.

An average adult American alligator’s weight and length is 800 pounds and 13 feet. Large ones grow to 14.5 feet long and weigh 1,000 pounds. The average lifespan for an alligator is 50 years.

Although alligators have a heavy body and a slow metabolism, they are capable of short bursts of speed, especially in very short lunges, such as apparently happened in the Fripp Island attack.

The man was eventually air-evacuated to Charleston's Medical University of South Carolina. Efforts are reported to be underway to reattach his arm. His condition is unknown.

I was in beautiful Beaufort, S.C. recently. I love golf. How wonderful that a 77 year-old was still playing golf with his son, but this is a terrible story.

Military Get Thanks from Tiger Woods, Thanks to Prez Bush

On the 4th of July, 2009 Tiger was hosting the Earl Woods Memorial Tournament, named for his father, which he won. There a brief video on that day with Tiger thanking the troops for their keeping us free - but it was very brief. I found a better one.

This video is from April 23, 2009 and is an interview with a Pentagon Channel reporter. I think he is speaking of the coming Earl Woods Memorial Tournament, but I'm not 100% certain. Tiger talks about his dad's military service, growing up playing on military bases and playing on base golf courses. He speaks of his gratitude and admiration for the troops, he mentions how much it meant to him to have former President Bush attending one of the tournaments, Green Berets attending, military families attending.
