Steve King: America's in the Abyss of Socialism: Republicans Pledge to Check Bills Against Constitution

This is such, such encouraging news. Rep. Steve King (R-IW) says Republicans will check legislation against its constitutionality. It's in the Pledge with America, he said it was not his idea, but he is excited about it. He won't be the only one, hopefully, and I believe we can count on the Tea Partiers to take names and kick butts (so to speak). King speaks frankly and says we are "in the abyss of Socialism." You know it. I know it. It's already here. It  is a new day dawning in America. See the video below.

Steve King

If we have wondered if anyone in Congress feels as intensely emotional about the state of our Nation, as we do, King says he has seen grown men with tears rolling down their cheeks at what is happening to our country. Okay, maybe those men were not members of Congress. Maybe they were Tea Partiers. I don't know, but you can tell he has been affected by the Tea Party movement, and he greatly respects it. Yes, it is a new day, longtime coming, in the United States of America. This video courtesy of Human Events. Adam Tragone, the Managing Editor is the interviewer.

Ten Buck Friday Blogs Send Their Bucks to Anna Little Week 2

RightKlik announced at Midnight EDT that Anna Little, the current mayor of Highlands, New Jersey, receives Ten Buck Friday donations with  42.1% of the vote for Week 2. Ms Little is running for New Jersey's 6th Congressional District.

Anna Little (R-NJ)

A word about Anna's Democrat opponent, Frank Pallone Jr. Pallone has been in the House since 1988. Anna Little is the one that can send him home, and we need this big spender to go home.

In 2009 and 2010 Pallone voted for every spending bill with the exception two; he voted against the prohibiting of funds to ACORN.  He voted against prohibiting federally funded abortion services, he voted against prohibiting partial-Birth/Late Term Abortion, when Bush was President he voted against Defense Authorization. With Obama as President, he voted to fund defense authorizations. To end this litany of Frank Pallone shame - in 2006 he voted against the Immigration Law Enforcement Act, against the Secure Fence Act of 2006, against the Border Security Bill of 2005, against the Real ID Act of 2005. Check out Pallone's voting history here.

VOTE ANNA LITTLE, AND SEND FRANK PALLONE, JR. HOME

About Anna Little:

From reading blogs that are supporting Anna Little, I see there is great excitement about this women who is characterized as a true conservative.

It appears that Anna was not the odds-on favorite to win the primary against her Republican challenger, who outspent Little more than ten times. Anna's "literal shoestring budget of $19,503 is remarkable.... According to Terry Hurlbut at the Essex County Examiner, Little's opponent was the Republican Party pick; she had their endorsements and conceivably their monetary support. Hurlbut says the area's Republican Committee accused the leadership of being "far too dismissive of Little's candidacy."

Here is information about Little from her website, and it is obvious this woman has proven to be a fiscal conservative"
Anna is a wife, a mother of three children, and currently serves as Mayor of the Borough of Highlands, New Jersey. As Mayor, Anna has proven her ability to manage a fiscally responsible municipality by reducing the budget, and implementing an economic growth vision for her hometown.
From 2006-2008, Anna served as a Monmouth County Freeholder, bringing her vision of responsible government to the county by establishing the Continuous Budget Review Committee, and by hosting an Economic Development Summit.
She is committed to improving her community as a trustee for the Frielinghaus Memorial Scholarship Fund, and as a member of the Historical Society of the Highlands. Anna also enjoys singing with the Choir at her local church.
Anna attended Seton Hall University where she earned her Law Degree. She is admitted to practice in The State of New Jersey, in The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and before The United States District Court and has handled cases nationwide.
Anna is fluent in Spanish and French, and has a working knowledge of Japanese and Russian. As an Immigration Attorney, Anna has represented clients from many countries throughout the world, including: Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, The Dominican Republic, Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Venezuela, England, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Hungary, Israel, Greece, India, Iraq, Egypt, Pakistan, Congo, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Japan, Philippines, Vietnam, Korea, Mongolia, Tibet, and Thailand. Anna was born at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, and is a native of Middletown, New Jersey.
Little is endorsed by the New Jersey Tea Party, the Jersey Shore Tea Party Patriots, the Bayshore Tea Party Group, The Conservative Party of New Jersey, The Independence Hall Tea Party PAC, and the New Jersey Right to Life, among others.

This quote comes from the New Jersey Tea Party:
Some say the politically conservative Tea Party movement stands for “smaller government, fiscal responsibility, and safety and security for the US.” Others say it is just as well to add “support for Israel and disdain for the way the Obama administration has approached the war on terror.”
With that in mind, the New Jersey Tea Party movement and many members of the observant-Jewish community have endorsed Anna Little, a candidate running in the NJ Sixth District Republican Primary on June 8th. “Anna Little is the only true conservative seeking office in the Sixth Congressional district,” said Jeff Weingarten, president of the NJ Tea Party.

So this week, in theory, Ten Buck Friday bloggers will be sending their donations of $10 each, and maybe more, to Anna Little. We have about 45 Ten Buck Friday blogs, but from the voting, we have many readers participating.

If you are disappointed that your own candidate did not win this week's poll, we just encourage you to think about what it means for Anna Little to be in the U.S. House of Representatives, rather than the progressive Frank Pallone. At least for now, when a candidate wins they are no longer on the next weeks polls. As we get closer to November that may change.

When donating on this Ten Buck Friday, look for a spot on the donation form to write in: "Donation made with Ten Buck Friday Bloggers," or something similar. On Anna's donation form it gives you the option to pay through PayPal or send in a check. Just click through and the credit card option is there.

Rasmussen Survey Tea Party Understands Issues Better than Congress

Rasmussen reports that 52% of U.S. voters believe the average member of the Tea Party movement has a better understanding of the issues facing America today than the average member of Congress, and they believe Tea Party members are more ethical.

Tea Parties on the Issues

Not that Congress cares, of course:
When it comes to those issues, 47% think that their own political views are closer to those of the average Tea Party member than to the views of the average member of Congress. On this point, 26% feel closer to Congress.
Finally, 46% of voters say that the average Tea Party member is more ethical than the average member of Congress. Twenty-seven percent (27%) say that the average member of Congress is more ethical.
 Tea Parties on Socialism

Scott Rasmussen, author of a new book In Search of Self-Governance, says:
“The gap between Americans who want to govern themselves and politicians who want to rule over them may be as big today as the gap between the colonies and England during the 18th century,”
Listen up Karl Rove, John Cornyn, Newt Gingrich, Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe, even 28% of Democrats say their own views are closer to the average member of the Tea Party, and:

On all questions, Republicans overwhelming prefer the Tea Party. Unaffiliated voters also prefer the Tea Party by wide margins...
...a plurality of women prefer the Tea Party over Congress on every question in the survey.
Welcome news - sort of a nah na, nah na, nah nah moment.

Congress Bows to Free Speech Restrains Presidential Powers: Liebermann Copies China

Capitol Hill believes there needs to be a "kill switch" for the Internet. Americans balked, so Senator Joe Liebermann, a supporter of the legislation, got right after protecting our interests. The scenario now is, if Obama needs to use the "kill switch" to shut down the Internet, he can do so WITHOUT Congressional approval for 120 days, or 4 months. After that period he must get Congressional approval. I feel much better now [note sarcasm, if you have any doubts].

From PrisonPlanet - snippets below - please read the entire article.
Despite the Center for Democracy and Technology and 23 other privacy and technology organizations sending letters to Lieberman and other backers of the bill expressing concerns that the legislation could be used to stifle free speech, the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee passed in the bill in advance of a vote on the Senate floor.
Liebermann came up with a good one. He noted that China has the same policy.
“Right now China, the government, can disconnect parts of its Internet in case of war and we need to have that here too,” Lieberman told CNN’s Candy Crowley....
As we have illustrated, fears surrounding cybersecurity have been hyped to mask the real agenda behind the bill, which is to strangle the runaway growth of alternative and independent media outlets which are exposing government atrocities, cover-ups and cronyism like never before. [and Drudge is given as one example
This report says US Cybersecurity Czar Howard Schmidt wants an "online identity ecosystem," and part of that "ecosystem" is the use of identity cards for an Internet user. Intended to be fabulous news is the fact that with the new "ecosystem" users will no longer need "an ever-expanding" list of usernames and passwords." The government cannot keep information secure. They don't even get close.

I like my usernames and my passwords, and what they are or how I get to them should have nothing to do with government.

Peter Orszag Healthcare Rationing Panel: Independent Payment Advisory Board: Death Panels Explained

Orszag, Obama's director of Office Management and Budget (OMB), says an "independent payment advisory board will propose changes that bring about quality and efficiency rather than "quantity," and those proposals will become law automatically, unless Congress votes it down.
Orszag is asked if Congress understood this provision and he says: "yes, it was.... See an important video below.

Republican Platform and the Constitution

I looked through the Republican platform today searching for references to the U.S. Constitution, and I found quite a few. I was hoping to find a declaration in the Platform that specifically says it will adhere, at all times, to the U.S. Constitution and all of the founding documents. Senators and Representatives individually swear to uphold the Constitution at the time they take office, but we know that means little in some parts of Congress, and both sides of the aisles.

Republicans and the U.S. Constitution

Wouldn't it be amazing if we could require Congress - Democrats and Republicans, to swear their oath of office again, before each and every vote?

Take a look Below at the references to the Constitution in the  Republican platform  below, and then

read the new Republican resolution saying the GOP will deny support to any pretender-Republicans (RINOs). If you followed the Dede Scozzafava race in the NY23rd, you will love this new resolution and know from "whence" it came.

Republican Platform 2008:
Category: Government Reform:
Reforming Government to Serve the People:
Republicans will uphold and defend our party’s core principles: Constrain the federal government to its legitimate constitutional functions.
The Budget Process - A Fraud that Guarantees Runaway Spending:
We call for a constitutionally sound presidential line-item veto.
Empowering the States, Improving Public Services:
Congress must respect the limits imposed upon it by the Tenth Amendment: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
We look to the model of Republican welfare reform, which, since its enactment in 1996, has accomplished a major transfer of resources and responsibility from the federal government back to the states – with an accompanying improvement in the program itself.  Applying that approach to other programs will steer Congress back into line with the Constitution, reversing both its intrusion into state matters and its neglect of its central duties.
Appointing Constitutionalist Judges for the Nation's Courts
Judicial activism is a grave threat to the rule of law because unaccountable federal judges are usurping democracy, ignoring the Constitution and its separation of powers, and imposing their personal opinions upon the public. This must stop.
Republicans will insist on the appointment of constitutionalist judges, men and women who will not distort our founding documents to deny the people's right to self-government, sanction federal powers that violate our liberties, or inject foreign law into American jurisprudence.
We oppose stealth nominations to the federal bench, and especially to the Supreme Court, whose lack of a clear and distinguished record leaves doubt about their respect for the constitution or their intellectual fortitude. Nominees must have a record of fidelity to the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law.
In affirming Article VI of the Constitution - that no religious test shall ever be required for an office - we insist that the Senate should never inquire into a noninee's religious conviction and we condemn the opposition, by some members of the Democratic Party, to recent judicial nominees because of their ethnicity or religion.
Protecting the Right to Vote in Fair Elections:
We oppose any restrictions or conditions upon those activities that would discourage Americans from exercising their constitutional right to enter the political fray or limit their commitment to their ideals.
Guaranteeing a Constitutional Census in 2010
We urge all who are legally eligible to participate in the census count to do so; at the same time, we urge Congress to specify -- and to constitutionally justify - which census questions require a response.
Working with Americans in the Territories:
We appreciate the extraordinary sacrifices the men and women of the territories are making to protect our freedom through their service in the U.S. Armed Forces....We affirm their right to seek the full extension of the Constitution, with all the political rights and responsibilities it entails.
Category - Education:
Education:
Although the Constitution assigns the federal government no role in local education, Washington’s authority over the nation’s schools has increased dramatically....We call for a review of Department of Education programs and administration to identify and eliminate ineffective programs, to respect the role of states, and to better meet state needs.
Category - Crime:
Protecting the Victims of Crime:
Twenty-six years ago, President Reagan’s Task Force on Victims of Crime, calling the neglect of crime victims a “national disgrace,” proposed a constitutional amendment to secure their formal rights...Today, that disgrace persists...We call on Congress to correct this imbalance by sending to the states for ratification a constitutional amendment to protect the rights of crime victims.
Securing our Civil Liberties:
Because our Constitution is based on the principles of individual liberty and limited government, we must always ensure that law enforcement respects the civil and constitutional rights of the people.  While we wage war on terrorism in foreign lands, it is sometimes necessary for intelligence agencies and law enforcement officials to pursue terrorist threats at home.  However, no expansion of governmental powers should occur at the expense of our constitutional liberties.
Category - Values:
Upholding the Constitutional Right to Keep and Bear Arms:
We uphold the right of individual Americans to own firearms, a right which antedated the Constitution and was solemnly confirmed by the Second Amendment....We call on the next president to appoint judges who will similarly respect the Constitution...
We call for education in constitutional rights in schools, and we support the option of firearms training in federal programs serving senior citizens and women.
Ensuring Equal Treatment for All:
As a matter of principle, Republicans oppose any attempts to create race-based governments within the United States, as well as any domestic governments not bound by the Constitution or the Bill of Rights.
Maintaining the Sanctity and Dignity of Human Life:
We support a human life amendment to the Constitution, and we endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children.
Preserving Traditional Marriage:
Because our children’s future is best preserved within the traditional understanding of marriage, we call for a constitutional amendment that fully protects marriage as a union of a man and a woman, so that judges cannot make other arrangements equivalent to it.
Safeguarding Religious Liberties:
Our Constitution guarantees the free exercise of religion and forbids any religious test for public office, and it likewise prohibits the establishment of a state-sponsored creed.
The public display of the Ten Commandments does not violate the U.S. Constitution and accurately reflects the Judeo-Christian heritage of our country. We support the right of students to engage in student-initiated, student-led prayer in public schools, athletic events, and graduation ceremonies, when done in conformity with constitutional standards.

Congress Exempt from Health Care Should be Illegal under a 28th Amendment

Barack Obama, a Constitutional attorney, signed health care into law despite the 28th Amendment. Some Congressional staffers are exempted from health care as well. Health care is illegal under the 28th Amendment, OR SHOULD BE.

You've seen the emails all over the place to adopt a 28th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States that reads as follows:
Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens  of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators or Representatives, and Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States.
This is a perfect day to start talking about a 28th Amendment. Thanks to Snooper, visit him at The Snooper Report.

Black Caucus Lies About Tea Party Yells of "Ni**er? - Two Videos

A major online source reported Tea Partiers verbally assaulted the Congressional Black Caucus, in front of the Capitol, yelling ni**er, , and one Tea Partier is accused of spitting on Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO). Rep. Andre Carson (D-IN) said he heard the "n" word 15 times. But a video seems to show just the opposite. If the "n" was used over and over on the Caucus-walk, you would surely see it in one of the videos below - one courtesy of Daily Kos, accusing "the man in the straw hat." - but it just isn't there. Will the Caucus claim both videos have been tampered with? CBC, CNN, NBC, MSNBC CBS all reported the assault, without video. This morning, still no retractions, still no claims of tampering. HuffPo, will you look into Black Caucus lies?

The Hill reported that the 'spitter' was arrested, but MSNBC, which does not mention the arrest, has an email from Capitol Police Sgt. Kimberly Schneider saying "We did not make any arrests today." Nevertheless, Democrats took to the House floor and "decried" the protesters. Similar delusion in the second video below where a Kos poster thinks a man in a straw hat is yelling "ni**er."

Congressional Black Caucus Lies?

There is zero evidence of the spitting or the racist epitaphs. I can find no videos of the assault. There is no video of Cleaver cleaning himself from the spit of a white racist. The magnanimous Cleaver said he would not press charges. Translated: he has no proof. Do we really think he would not make everything he could out of Tea Party spit? There were many cameras outside the capitol, but there seems to be no proof of the calls of ni**er. When was the last time we saw the Congressional Black Caucus not take advantage of perceived racism.

The Daily Kos is showing a similar video describing it as "Teabaggers attacking...." LaurenMonica at DailyKos linked to TPM's report and said she could not finish watching the clip because it makes her "sick and angry at the same time. Strange. TPM doesn't have a video in this post. So, assuming she is talking about the video below, which shows nothing significant, it doesn't take much to push her over the edge.

The same Kos article has an explanation of the yells of "ni**er:"
Listen closely. It's not the whole crowd but it is the guy in the straw hat. Notice how he cups his hands turns to shout directly at the black man walking in front of him.
After crowd shots "kill the bill" he adds "then the n***er." He does it twice, once at 12 seconds, again at 14 seconds. Then he stops because the man he's shouting at is out of earshot. Not that I think he heard himm in the first place.
But anyway, here we have video evidence of at least one teabagger shouting racial slurs.
What??? Friends, there nothing there that can be heard or seen for this poster to make that claim. Nevertheless, Michael Steele, chairman of the Republican National Committee, and an official of Tea Party Express condemned the "racial slurs."

Lies? Man in Straw Hat Yelling - Yes, But What? (video)

Government in Control of Everything - Including College Football

We've heard this before, but here it is again, courtesy of a Republican Orrin Hatch (R-UT) who was "steamed" that his team didn't get a chance at the BCS title last year.

This from DOJ Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich:

Several lawmakers and many critics want the BCS to switch to a playoff system, rather than the ratings system it uses to determine the teams that play in the championship game.

"The administration shares your belief that the current lack of a college football national championship playoff with respect to the highest division of college football ... raises important questions affecting millions of fans, colleges and universities, players and other interested parties," Weich wrote.
I understand that the BCS Championship may (or may not) need an overhaul, but do we need an act of Congress to do it?

State Of The Nation

by Findalis of Monkey in the Middle

Book of Obama:  Chapter 10

e placed The Holy Suit and Tie once again upon His body, and ascended once again to the Dome.  There the assembled chapter of the Congress, the Holy Justices of the land, the members of the anointed Cabinet and guests from near and far sat awaiting His words.  Unlike the year before, He wasn't popular.  Every plan, every idea He had, was rejected by the people.

"We do not want your Cap and Trade, Health Care, or other Moonbat ideas.  Your bowing down to dictators, despots and tyrants around the world does not put us at ease You have apologized to everyone for all the supposed evils that we were suspected of doing.  You are getting ready to destroy our laws, by declaring the Holy Document invalid.  We have heard enough lies from you, your dogs Emanuel, Axelrod, Pelosi and Reid.  We've heard them all and we've learned a couple of things."

The Anointed One just smiled and then addressed the Nation:

short year ago I took office, but that is just a breeze in time.  Look back upon our Founding Fathers, our struggles during the Civil War, the Depression.  We did not flounder or despair.  Nor did we despair through out the struggles of the Civil Rights Movement.  And I will not despair now.

For I inherited a bad economy that was shaken to its core.  I opposed all of the bailouts done, for I saw the harm they will do.  My stimulus plan has created jobs in teaching, rescue, construction and other sectors.

We need Health Care now!  I demand Congress to pass.  Cap and Trade too.  Forget about the Holy Document.  There is too much to do.

I am a man of the people, representative of the Middle Class, My values are the same as yours.  I love this country so much I would never bad name it.  But we did wrong with the Muslim world, and other places too.  I said to them I am sorry, there is nothing you can do.

I said I would create jobs, and that I will do.  For every man and woman.  New industries, new factories, Red, White, Blue, and Green.  We must compete with China, Korea, and Germany too.  This we must excel in if we are going to continually survive.

I will eliminate the nukes of the world, starting with our own.  For did not the Great Reagan of old try to achieve this very goal.

People through out the land write to Me with their problems.  A businessman in Denver*, or in Philadelphia, a teacher in the city, the cop on the beat, a child who wants to know why Mommy and Daddy lost their jobs, another who just lost his home.  I read all their letters, I know all their problems, and I will solve them all.

I could go on all night, but that will do no good at all.  I promised you Hope and Change, and did not lie to you on that, for I am not President #43.

And after The Anointed One had finished His speech, His  followers were full of glee.  For they just knew that once again He had saved the day.

But from right across the river, from the city of Richmond in the land of Virginia, came a new prophet from the right.  Bob The Wise McDonnell.
The Prophet spoke of those with a job, how 1 in 10 lost theirs.
He spoke of the despair the nation felt, of how the economy  was gone.
He spoke of the need for smaller government, how The Anointed One did spend.
He said that the time for spending cuts and freezes were last year, not when your polling number has shown you have failed.

The Prophet McDonnell told the people that it isn't too late.
That the time has come to sit and wait,
So The Anointed One could not shove His agenda down our throats.

He told the assembled people and media the truth.
And our solutions aren't 1,000-page bills that no one has fully read,
After being crafted behind closed doors with special interests.
In fact, many of our proposals are available online at solutions.gop.gov, and we welcome your ideas on Facebook and Twitter.

He told them this and more.
And through it all, the world went on, the nation will endure.

The GOP got Teddy's seat, they can get more they will.
For the people have seen the truth, heard the lies and broken promises.
Unlike those on the left, the right will not just yell.
They are the ones, in Midterm years, come out in droves to vote.

Reid, Frank and Boxer, plus many more are running scared tonight.
For the GOP has the will, the drive and the clout,
To drive the Moonbats back into the dark.

We just have to wait for November to do it!

The President mentioned many people in his speech, but none by name, nor did he recognize any of them in the balcony (he only recognized his wife).  Could it be they are all named:  Ellie Light?

Tim Bishop Protests: Tim Bishop Constitutents: Throw the Bumbs Out

If you think American's aren't madder than heck, watch these constituents of New York's U.S. Rep. Tim Bishop (D). This lame excuse for a Congressman, Tim Bishop, refused to meet in scheduled Townhall-type meetings in June. The August recess should be exciting.

I had felt they would be pointless,” Rep. Tim Bishop (D-N.Y.) told POLITICO, referring to his recent decision to temporarily suspend the events in his Long Island district. “There is no point in meeting with my constituents and [to] listen to them and have them listen to you if what is basically an unruly mob prevents you from having an intelligent conversation. I have no problem with someone disagreeing with positions I hold,” Bishop said, noting that, for the time being, he was using other platforms to communicate with his constituents. “But I also believe no one is served if you can’t talk through differences.”
Right. No problem with those not agreeing with him. The protesters in the video are said to be from The Conservative Society for Action and "other angry taxpayers." The Long Island crowd got nowhere with Bishop who some say is a rubber stamp for Pelosi. They chanted. Besides some words about both Pelosi and Bishop, you'll hear "Throw the Bums Out," "Silent No More," "Stop Spending our Money," No Cap and Trade," "USA USA," chanted over and over. The crowd sang God Bless America, and displayed the flag and said the Pledge of Allegiance. This was an organized and peaceful protest that definitely had a message. It's a great video. A month ago, the health care bill was not the topic of scorn that it is today. Bishop can count on hearing about health care during is vacation, if he comes near his home district. Read about other politicians meeting protests around the country.

Independence Day 2009: The Theft of the American Dream

July 4th, 2009 finds Americans in turmoil. We do not like the direction our country has taken, and we admit that it veered off the rails several administrations ago. While not every unconstitutional deed happened on President Obama's watch, never have we had a President so determined to shred our rule of law, the life blood of the Nation and at the time, the real life blood of our Founding Fathers.

Samuel Adams, James Madison, Ben Franklin, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, John Adams

Never have we had a Congress so eager to let the tattered shreds of the Constitution that it allowed to be shredded in the first place, simply lie on the floor to be tread and tromped upon until the night crew comes along to clean up the mess, haul it out and pile it on the trash heap of what was once the American dream...the pursuit of happiness.

Never until now, have we had a Congress allow a President to steal our private industry, choose our light bulbs, our automobiles, our thermostat setting, our zoning laws, rate our homes before we can sell them, prohibit and shame us for travel, and appoint multiple Czars to avoid the dictates of the very Congress that is our system of checks and balances.

Never have we had a Congress with such a small measure of selflessness. The following are from the HBO production of John Adams. Each video and its message stands alone. See a list of some really grand July 4th posts below, added as I find them.

Blunt Politics: Mad Tea Party by Leslie Lynn King - an adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. You'll love this take on March HareNapolitano, Obama Hatter and Pelosi Dormouse. Excerpt:
The table was very long, but all three were crowded at one end. “No room for you! No room for you!” the three cried as Alice America arrived. “There’s plenty of room! I paid for this party anyway!” she said and sat down in a large arm-chair at one end of the table. The Obama Hatter offered, “Would you like some whine or free money, with a side of hope?” “I don’t see any whine or money,” Alice remarked. “There isn’t any,” said Pelosi Dormouse, “We drank all the whine and spent all the money.”

Taxes to go up 10%!

By Findalis For years I have heard of the proposal to impose a Value Added Tax (VAT) on the American people. While this sounds logical, it is fraught with many dangers.

What is a Value Added Tax? A Value Added Tax is a consumption tax levied on value added. In contrast to sales tax, VAT is neutral with respect to the number of passages that there are between the producer and the final consumer; where sales tax is levied on total value at each stage, the result is a cascade (downstream taxes levied on upstream taxes). A VAT is an indirect tax, in that the tax is collected from someone who does not bear the entire cost of the tax. Personal end-consumers of products and services cannot recover VAT on purchases, but businesses are able to recover VAT on the materials and services that they buy to make further supplies or services directly or indirectly sold to end-users. In this way, the total tax levied at each stage in the economic chain of supply is a constant fraction of the value added by a business to its products, and most of the cost of collecting the tax is borne by business, rather than by the state. VAT was invented because very high sales taxes and tariffs encourage cheating and smuggling. It has been criticized on the grounds that (like other consumption taxes) it is a regressive tax.
Under the VAT everything is taxed. Everything. There is a tax on goods and services, but also VAT on your utilities, food, entertainment (movies, shows, etc...), your mortgage or rent is taxed, your gas will be taxed, doctors visits, I believe that you get the point. The groups that get hurt the most from a VAT are the ones who can least afford to pay it: The Poor and Middle Class. Yet the Democrats, those champions of the downtrodden poor, are now considering this:
As lawmakers toy with the idea of an across-the-board sales tax on just about everything, tax reform advocates are starting to drum up opposition with the same fervor they employed during last month's anti-tax tea parties. The idea of a national sales tax was once unlikely. But now that the federal government is doling out billions in stimulus spending and bailouts, and looking for billions more for health care reform, the prospect could be gaining some traction. The frenzy over the idea kicked up after a Washington Post article Wednesday reported that Congress is starting to pay closer attention to this largely academic proposal and that the Obama administration, though shushing speculation, is soliciting advise from supporters of the idea. "It should certainly raise alarm bells that they think they can inject it into the debate," said Phil Kerpen, policy director at Americans for Prosperity. The value-added tax, or VAT, as it is called, amounts to a tax-on-everything -- or TOE, for the acronym-inclined. It's a tax on goods that's applied in pieces throughout the chain of production and distribution and results in an increase in the cost of virtually everything you buy. Aside from raising revenue for the government, the move could have a number of things going for it, say proponents -- it's tough to evade, it's simple by comparison to the income tax and it encourages saving. Some conservatives have called for something similar -- the so-called Fair Tax -- that would replace the federal income tax system with a national retail sales tax. But critics of the VAT say it would almost certainly not be implemented as a replacement for the income tax system -- rather, it would be just another tax, on top of the income tax, the state sales tax and everything else. "This isn't a tax reform proposal that the White House is talking about. This is a new source of income for the government," said Max Pappas, public policy vice president at FreedomWorks. "The government needs big taxes and we've got big government, so now they're trying to decide how to pay for it."
Every nation that has a Value Added Tax has no Income Taxes. The VAT replaces the Income Tax. Except for the US, here it would be in addition to the Income Tax. A 10% tax hike would go into effect. View a list of nations with a VAT here. So much for promises of no tax hikes. Here comes the biggest tax increase in the last 60 years. Hold on to your wallets, for the US will get a Value Added Tax on top of our Income Taxes.

Sderot to Congress: Don't Finance Terror!

By Findalis From the Sderot Media Center Rockets still fall upon Sderot and Southern Israel. Even with a "cease-fire", Hamas will not stop firing rockets.

By Anav Silverman This week Kibbutz Kfar Aza mourned the death of Jimmy Kedoshim, a husband and father of three, who was killed last year in a Palestinian mortar attack on May 9, 2008. The mortar, fired from northern Gaza, struck Kedoshim, 48, in the backyard of his home. Kedoshim’s death was the first caused by mortar fire since Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005. A day after Kedoshim’s memorial service, the Kfar Aza community was reminded once again that Palestinian rockets still threaten the region. On Sunday, May 10, 2009 a Palestinian Qassam rocket slammed across Kibbutz Kfar Aza, this time landing in an open area in the Regional Council of Sdot Negev and Sha’ar HaNegev. No injuries or damages were reported. Kedoshim was a well known and beloved figure in the Kfar Aza community. “The death of Jimmy Kedoshim was devastating for the entire Kfar Aza community,” Karen, a Kfar Aza mother told Sderot Media Center last year. Jimmy, a professional sky diver, raised his three children on the Kfar Aza kibbutz with his wife Anna. *YNET News contributed to this report.
The media cries that these are homemade rockets, they do little damage and cause very few injuries and deaths. I have a proposition for the members of the media then. Someone will go over to your house with a gun and fire randomly into your home. They will do this for the next 8 years. The media will not cover the event, the police will not stop it. No bullet fired will be aimed. What will YOU do? After all they are just bullets of a small caliber, they do little damage and cause minimum injuries. You see how your argument is faulty?
by Anav Silverman Back in March, Sderot Media Center director, Noam Bedein held a special briefing with US Congressmen and their advisors on Capitol Hill, where he highlighted the rocket situation in Sderot and southern Israel in a meeting initiated by the EMET organization President, Sarah Stern. A day previously, on Monday March 2, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had pledged $900 million at a conference in Egypt set to raise billions of dollars for Gaza reconstruction after Operation Cast Lead. Following the meeting between Bedein and the Congressmen on Capitol Hill, Democratic Representative Shelley Berkley (D-Nev) sent a letter to US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, which demanded that the aid to Gaza be delayed as long as the rocket fire continues and Gilad Shalit, the Israeli soldier captured by Palestinian terrorists three years ago, remains captive by Hamas. Joining Berkley in her efforts to place conditions on the $300 million in US aid for Gaza, is Representative Elliot Engel (D-N.Y.). Three weeks ago, Reps. Elliot and Berkley drafted a letter to the chairman and ranking member of the House Appropriations Committe; Congressmen David Obey and Jerry Lewis respectively. Reps. Eliot and Berkley stated that "we are concerned that - in the aftermath of Hamas’ unprovoked attacks on Israel - sending hundreds of millions of dollars to Gaza without conditions will send precisely the wrong message at the wrong time" In addition, the Congressmen also added that “ it is essential that we not simply write a “blank check” for the Gaza-based Palestinians to continue" its missile attacks on Israel. “We must instead send a message that the United States will help with the needs of the Palestinians if--and only if--they meet the conditions of the international community to recognize Israel, renounce terrorism, and commit to all agreements that they have signed with Israel. Not only has Hamas failed to meet any of these conditions, it has not stopped raining rockets on Israeli territory and still holds captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. It is essential that we condition our funding for Gaza on Hamas’ complying with these basic demands. Read the full letter below.
April 28, 2009 The Honorable David R. Obey, Chairman The Honorable Jerry Lewis, Ranking Member Committee on Appropriations H-218, The Capitol Washington, D.C. 20515 Dear Chairman Obey and Ranking Member Lewis: We write to you today regarding the President’s request for supplemental funding in fiscal year 2009. It has come to our attention that within President Obama’s request is $900 million in funding for the West Bank and Gaza. We are concerned that - in the aftermath of Hamas’ unprovoked attacks on Israel - sending hundreds of millions of dollars to Gaza without conditions will send precisely the wrong message at the wrong time. In late 2008, Hamas intensified its missile attacks on Israel, using Gaza as a launching pad to terrorize the population of Sderot and other communities in southern Israel. Even after Israel withdrew completely from Gaza in 2005, the unprovoked assault by unguided rockets of terror continued. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) finally retaliated against these attacks, after showing incredible restraint for many years, destroying a great deal of Hamas’ infrastructure within Gaza. While the IDF attempted to minimize civilian casualties, there was damage to many areas in Gaza. The blame for this, however, rests firmly on Hamas’ shoulders, as they began the unprovoked shelling on Israeli cities and were warned repeatedly that the continued shelling would bring a strong response from Israel. Further, Hamas conducted its combat operations from heavily-populated civilian areas and, thus, was responsible for the protection of the civilians in the area. Indeed, this use of unarmed men, women, and children as human shields was shocking and disgraceful. It is, therefore, essential that we not simply write a “blank check” for the Gaza-based Palestinians to continue acting this way. We must instead send a message that the United States will help with the needs of the Palestinians if - and only if - they meet the conditions of the international community to recognize Israel, renounce terrorism, and commit to all agreements they have signed with Israel. Not only has Hamas failed to meet any of these conditions, it has not stopped raining rockets on Israeli territory and still holds captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. It is essential that we condition our funding for Gaza on Hamas’ complying with these basic demands. Without such links, Palestinians will see the U.S. as providing aid while Hamas continues to terrorize the Israeli people, with no consequences from the U.S. government. We urge you to condition our funding on reciprocal actions from Hamas. Thank you for your attention to this important matter. We look forward to your response. Sincerely, Shelley Berkley Member of Congress Eliot Engel Member of Congress
*The JTA News Service contributed to this report.
The United States has pledged $1.1 billion to Gaza. This is effectively giving $1.1 billion to Hamas. For the only funds that are going to Gaza are going to Hamas. Do you believe for one moment that any of the allocated funding will go to rebuild homes, schools, etc...? If you do I got a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. It is an antique, but in very good condition (real cheap too). This has got to end. There should be no funds sent until:
  1. Hamas recongizes Israel not only has a right to exist but is a Jewish nation.
  2. The return of Gilad Schalit safe and unharmed.
  3. The immediate ceasation of all attacks on Israel.
After those 3 points are met, then the $1.1 billion in aid should be sent. It seems that the Obama administration is hell bent on the destruction of the Jewish Nation. Call or write your Representative today! Don't allow your tax dollars to be sent to a terrorist organization. Make your voice heard!
