Lindsey Graham Walks on Climate and Amnesty

Sen. Lindsey Graham has certainly been in the news this week. Republicans have been more than a little frustrated that the South Carolina senator has announced he is working with Democrats on Cap and Trade (Climate) and Immigration Reform (Amnesty for Illegal Aliens). The question has been: why would he do that, knowing that a majority of Republicans want neither?

Lindsey Graham                        John Kerry

Graham has been working behind the scenes on a Cap and Tax bill and Amnesty with Senators John Kerry and Chuck Schumer. A video made the rounds last week from ALIPAC president, William Gheen, saying that he believed Senator Graham was "compromised." His reasoning was unfortunate, but he intimates that Graham could be blackmailed (my word, not Gheens), and if that is the case, Graham needs to rethink a few things, and reassure the voters.

Graham has walked on the bill and taken his "bipartisan" support with him. This is a real dilemma, but it just may get Graham out of a tough spot, in light of Gheen's statement. Democrats will not hold-up Immigration, so this can get Graham out of both Climate Change and Immigration, and make the South Carolina Republican Party happy (they have censured him twice in recent months) and make his fellow Republicans in the Senate ecstatic.
Graham's departure likely dooms any chance of passing a climate bill this year. He is the sole Republican working with Sens. John Kerry and Joseph Lieberman (I-CT) on a compromise they had planned to unveil Monday.
Here is a portion of a letter Graham sent to the Cap and Tax Committee:
"I want to bring to your attention what appears to be a decision by the Obama Administration and Senate Democratic leadership to move immigration instead of energy. Unless their plan substantially changes this weekend, I will be unable to move forward on energy independence legislation at this time. I will not allow our hard work to be rolled out in a manner that has no chance of success."
A curious response, but smart, because voters are increasingly unhappy with the perpetual loose-canon- ball-Senator Graham. If he scuttles back to his Party, which is desperately trying to reign-in the regime's "regulate the world" doctrine, he will do his country a huge service and probably be re-elected in 2012.

Lindsey Graham Censured by Republican Party: Lindsey Graham Compromised?

Lindsey Graham is taking a verbal beating this week. After years of head-scratching defections to liberalism, all-the-while claiming he will put his conservatism up against anyone, then skittering away to another secret meeting of the Gang of 14 or the Gang of 10, America is getting a bit nervous about the South Carolinia Senator. His own state Republican party has censured him at least twice in recent months. See an excellent video below.

Lindsey Graham

Today, Sen. Graham (R-SC) is working with Democrats on a Cap and Tax Bill and an Amnesty Bill. Now that's enough to drive a voter crazy. You vote for the man, and turns traitor and pretty much laughs in your face. The Party has censured him twice, and Cap and Trade and Immigration were specifically mentioned. He is accused of failing to abide by the principles of the South Carolina GOP platform and showing "contempt and belligerence" toward fellow Republicans.

In November 2009, he was censured for a long list of misconduct: his support of TARP, his support of Immigration, his support of Cap and Trade alongside of John Kerry - which the resolution says will be a job killer in the state of South Carolina, and for joining the Gangs of 14 and 10, for weakening the "Republican brand and tarnishing the ideals of freedom, rule of law, and fiscal conservatism."

Graham is not up for reelection until 2012. That's a good thing for Graham. This week, the president of ALIPAC (Americans for Legal Immigration PAC) spoke in Greenville, South Carolina and said Lindsey Graham is compromised because he is gay. In otherwords, perhaps, Graham is doing the bidding of Democrats in key areas because he is threatened - 'join us or we will out you.'

I have no idea if this is true or not, on any level, and I do not care that he is a gay man, if he is, but his stark left turns do more than raise eyebrows, and especially when being conservative on every level is the mission of the day. If he can be compromised because of a "secret" he wishes to keep, then he needs to leave the Senate - now.

Watch Lindsey Graham's Hot Air Balloon by the Southern Avenger, and note that Graham calls an angry townhall "the fringe group."

Jim Inhofe Cap and Trade: Inhofe Senate Has Only 26 Votes

Okay, Jim Inhofe is my senator, as you know. He said over and over that health care was dead on arrival in the Senate...and of course, he was wrong. Today, the good Senator says the Senate has only 26 votes for cap-and-trade which Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is supporting.

In the video below, Stuart Varney says if all Dems vote for the coming legislation, plus Lindsey Grahamnesty, that is 60 votes - "are you telling me you can beat that?" Twice Inhofe says I know we can beat it. I'm taking it to the bank because Jim Inhofe is far more right than wrong.

Just a few days ago, a report came out from the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, saying that the will not be sent through the usual committee process. Instead Reid will personally work the legislation (probably behind closed doors).

In an effort to keep the bill in Reid's hands, the sponsors -- Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) won't officially introduce the bill in the Senate when they unveil it to the public next week.

"If we introduce it, it'll get referred to committees," Lieberman said. "We want him to be able to work with it and bring it out onto the floor as a leader whenever he's ready."

Lieberman said the sponsors plan to reference all of the bill (S. 1462) the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee passed last summer and stressed they have been talking at the staff level with the Finance Committee. Once they roll out the bill, Lieberman said Reid wants all of the relevant Senate committees with a role in the process to take a couple of weeks to outline changes.

"We'll unveil a full legislative language bill for discussion, for people to respond to, to see where we are," Kerry said. "It'll be up to the majority leader at that point where he wants to proceed."
Already, some senators also are raising red flags about the committee process, which they warn may be circumvented if the Kerry-Graham-Lieberman proposal moves directly into Reid's office.

"These bills need to go through committee," said Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.). "If you're talking about making major deals on energy policy, it needs to go through the Energy Committee. If you're making major deals on tax policy, it needs to go through the Finance Committee. I mean, if you want to get it done."
Cantwell and Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) are pushing an alternative cap-and-dividend bill (S. 2877) that aims to circumvent the creation of a trillion-dollar carbon trading market.

ClimateGate 2008: Media Assisted Polar Bear Hysteria: Polar Bears Vanishing? Uh, no. And the Senate Knows it:

In June 2008, the U.S. Senate released a report saying that of the 13 "populations" of polar bears, all were "stable" or "increasing," and none were affected by a diminishing population.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service put Polar Bears on the threatened species list one month prior to the Senate report. See a video below.

Polar Bears surviving in the lap of luxury

Even if we did have global warming going on, Polar Bears have been around for "at least 100,000 years and have already lived through a period warmer than the present.
The polar bear is basically a brown bear that decided some time ago that it would be easier to feed on seals on the ice. So long as there are seals, there are going to be polar bears.
A Canadian biologist, Dr. Mitchell Taylor, a wildlife researcher in the Artic Nunavut:

Mama Polar Bear and Baby

Of the 13 populations of polar bears in Canada, 11 are stable or increasing in number. They are not going extinct, or even appear to be affected at present,” Taylor said. “It is just silly to predict the demise of polar bears in 25 years based on media-assisted hysteria.”
ClimateGate goes back to early 2008. This from Dr. Scott Armstrong (Whorton School at Univ. of Pennsylvania):
The study analyzed the methodology behind key polar bear population prediction and found that one of the two key reports in support of listing the bears had “extrapolated nearly 100 years into the future on the basis of only five years data - and data for these years were of doubtful validity.”
Biologist Josef Reicholf, head of the Vertebrates Department at the National Zoological Collection in Munich, Germany:
In warmer regions it takes far less effort to ensure survival,” Reichholf said. “How did the polar bear survive the last warm period? … Look at the polar bear’s close relative, the brown bear. It is found across a broad geographic region, ranging from Europe across the Near East and North Asia, to Canada and the United States. Whether bears survive will depend on human beings, not the climate.
Dennis Compayre, a Polar Bear expert, has studied the bears for almost 30 years in their natural habitat:
I tell you there are as many bears here now as there were when I was a kid,” Compayre said. “Churchill [in Northern Canada] is full of these scientists going on about vanishing bears and thinner bears. They come here preaching doom, but I question whether some of them really have the bears’ best interests at heart.”
Dr. David Bellamy, Botanist and famed UK environmental campaigner:
Why scare the families of the world with tales that polar bears are heading for extinction when there is good evidence that there are now twice as many of these iconic animals, most doing well in the Arctic than there were 20 years ago?”
Returning to a more current time, June 2009, in Copenhagen:
Top of the agenda at a meeting of the Polar Bear Specialist Group (set up under the International Union for the Conservation of Nature/Species Survival Commission) will be the need to produce a suitably scary report on how polar bears are being threatened with extinction by man-made global warming.

...one of the world's leading experts on polar bears has been told to stay away from this week's meeting, specifically because his views on global warming do not accord with those of the rest of the group.

Dr Mitchell Taylor has been researching the status and management of polar bears in Canada and around the Arctic Circle for 30 years, as both an academic and a government employee. More than once since 2006 he has made headlines by insisting that polar bear numbers, far from decreasing, are much higher than they were 30 years ago. Of the 19 different bear populations, almost all are increasing or at optimum levels, only two have for local reasons modestly declined.

Dr Taylor agrees that the Arctic has been warming over the last 30 years. But he ascribes this not to rising levels of CO2 – as is dictated by the computer models of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and believed by his PBSG colleagues – but to currents bringing warm water into the Arctic from the Pacific and the effect of winds blowing in from the Bering Sea.

He has also observed, however, how the melting of Arctic ice, supposedly threatening the survival of the bears, has rocketed to the top of the warmists' agenda as their most iconic single cause. The famous photograph of two bears standing forlornly on a melting iceberg was produced thousands of times by Al Gore, the WWF and others as an emblem of how the bears faced extinction – until last year the photographer, Amanda Byrd, revealed that the bears, just off the Alaska coast, were in no danger. Her picture had nothing to do with global warming and was only taken because the wind-sculpted ice they were standing on made such a striking image.
Dr. Taylor signed the Manhattan Declaration, a statement by 500 scientists stating that climate changes are not due to C02, but are natural - occurring from changes in the radiation of the sun and ocean currents.

The point is, the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has silenced the many, many voices of experts. We know now, that the IPCC members are certainly not experts and their interest is monetary.

One last thought: Some of the scientists quote above do not dispute global warming from natural causes. They do dispute man-made global warming. I wonder what they think, now that they know, that the world's weather monitoring stations have been manipulated to show warming, and some stations in very cold areas, Siberia and Artic regions, have been dismantled.

You will love this video below of a mother polar bear and her cubs. Beautiful scenery - watch them slide down snowy hillsides and then disappear into a snowy hole.

State Of The Nation

by Findalis of Monkey in the Middle

Book of Obama:  Chapter 10

e placed The Holy Suit and Tie once again upon His body, and ascended once again to the Dome.  There the assembled chapter of the Congress, the Holy Justices of the land, the members of the anointed Cabinet and guests from near and far sat awaiting His words.  Unlike the year before, He wasn't popular.  Every plan, every idea He had, was rejected by the people.

"We do not want your Cap and Trade, Health Care, or other Moonbat ideas.  Your bowing down to dictators, despots and tyrants around the world does not put us at ease You have apologized to everyone for all the supposed evils that we were suspected of doing.  You are getting ready to destroy our laws, by declaring the Holy Document invalid.  We have heard enough lies from you, your dogs Emanuel, Axelrod, Pelosi and Reid.  We've heard them all and we've learned a couple of things."

The Anointed One just smiled and then addressed the Nation:

short year ago I took office, but that is just a breeze in time.  Look back upon our Founding Fathers, our struggles during the Civil War, the Depression.  We did not flounder or despair.  Nor did we despair through out the struggles of the Civil Rights Movement.  And I will not despair now.

For I inherited a bad economy that was shaken to its core.  I opposed all of the bailouts done, for I saw the harm they will do.  My stimulus plan has created jobs in teaching, rescue, construction and other sectors.

We need Health Care now!  I demand Congress to pass.  Cap and Trade too.  Forget about the Holy Document.  There is too much to do.

I am a man of the people, representative of the Middle Class, My values are the same as yours.  I love this country so much I would never bad name it.  But we did wrong with the Muslim world, and other places too.  I said to them I am sorry, there is nothing you can do.

I said I would create jobs, and that I will do.  For every man and woman.  New industries, new factories, Red, White, Blue, and Green.  We must compete with China, Korea, and Germany too.  This we must excel in if we are going to continually survive.

I will eliminate the nukes of the world, starting with our own.  For did not the Great Reagan of old try to achieve this very goal.

People through out the land write to Me with their problems.  A businessman in Denver*, or in Philadelphia, a teacher in the city, the cop on the beat, a child who wants to know why Mommy and Daddy lost their jobs, another who just lost his home.  I read all their letters, I know all their problems, and I will solve them all.

I could go on all night, but that will do no good at all.  I promised you Hope and Change, and did not lie to you on that, for I am not President #43.

And after The Anointed One had finished His speech, His  followers were full of glee.  For they just knew that once again He had saved the day.

But from right across the river, from the city of Richmond in the land of Virginia, came a new prophet from the right.  Bob The Wise McDonnell.
The Prophet spoke of those with a job, how 1 in 10 lost theirs.
He spoke of the despair the nation felt, of how the economy  was gone.
He spoke of the need for smaller government, how The Anointed One did spend.
He said that the time for spending cuts and freezes were last year, not when your polling number has shown you have failed.

The Prophet McDonnell told the people that it isn't too late.
That the time has come to sit and wait,
So The Anointed One could not shove His agenda down our throats.

He told the assembled people and media the truth.
And our solutions aren't 1,000-page bills that no one has fully read,
After being crafted behind closed doors with special interests.
In fact, many of our proposals are available online at solutions.gop.gov, and we welcome your ideas on Facebook and Twitter.

He told them this and more.
And through it all, the world went on, the nation will endure.

The GOP got Teddy's seat, they can get more they will.
For the people have seen the truth, heard the lies and broken promises.
Unlike those on the left, the right will not just yell.
They are the ones, in Midterm years, come out in droves to vote.

Reid, Frank and Boxer, plus many more are running scared tonight.
For the GOP has the will, the drive and the clout,
To drive the Moonbats back into the dark.

We just have to wait for November to do it!

*  The President mentioned many people in his speech, but none by name, nor did he recognize any of them in the balcony (he only recognized his wife).  Could it be they are all named:  Ellie Light?

The Awakening!

By Findalis of Monkey in the Middle

Book of Obama Chapter 9

All through the first year of The Anointed One the people of the land did grumble.
"You are spending too much!"
"Increasing the debt!"
"The jobs are gone, make more!"
"The banks will fail again!"
"The car companies will fail!"
"HEALTH CARE!"
And did The Anointed One listen to the people of the land?  No He did not.  For He was told by Pelosi the Loud and Reid the Inept that they can do what they want, for the people will forget.

So while all through the Summer of Discord,. while tempers ran wild, The Anointed One just plowed forward with His own New Deal.

"We will push it through Congress!" The Anointed One shouted to His staff.  "We will force this on the people."  And the Progressives did laugh.

"We will change the nation, turn it into Europe-lite.  By the time We are finished, those idiots in the street will not be able to change it back."

"For Nanny is the name of the New Welfare Plan.  Total Cradle to Grave, We will do to them as well.  I know best, that everyone can see.  My way is the Right Way.  That is what I say it will be!"

All through the summer and into the fall, the warning signs were there for all to see, but The Anointed One became blinded to the truth.

He ignored the disaster of the Olympics, how His city of Chicago was turned down.  Or when He went to campaign for Virginia and Jersey of New, He couldn't turn those races around.

He put on the tears for the victims of Fort Hood, but refused to call it terror.
He ignored the Christmas bomber, it upset His plans for golf and fun that week.
But when His friend's son received a boo-boo, He ran back as fast as He could.
He partied day and night in the warm Hawaiin sands.

But on the eve of His first year anniversary.  He has received the worst news.
The Fiefdom of the Kennedy's:  Massachusetts has left the color blue.
The Fiefdom that old Joe the Bootlegger bought for his own son.  A piece of land that was the birthplace of the progressive slant.
The land of Harvard (the school The Anointed One attended.), of Barney the Frank and Kerry the Swiftboater, plus other illustrious names.
The Fiefdom of John the Martyr and Teddy the Lecher, both of Camalot fame, did hold court.  Those names plus Tips, remained true in count.

Yet of the day before the anniversary of the anointing by John of Roberts, the Holy Chief of Justice, where He was endowed with the Mantle of Power, did the news break unto Him.  His party just lost the Fiefdom of Massachusetts, and may never get it back.

There goes the New Deal for the Nation.  The Nanny must go!  The people have turned against us.  Our seats will be given to another.  The people have spoken in Massachusetts, a Fiefdom so blue it was nearly black.  The Kennedys don't run this Fiefdom any more.  The people have taken it back!

"We are fed up with your nanny, spending and lies.  You promised us openness on C-SPAN!  You said no smoke-filled rooms, transparency.  Yet you haven't delivered these.  What we want is good government.  Lower taxes, more jobs, less waste, less debt.  We didn't get that.  We want to feel safe when we fly.  Yet we don't feel safer too.  You treat those who cause harm to us like the common criminal.  Giving them rights they are not entitled to, setting them upon our shore.

For all these reasons and more, we have chosen our new champion Brown of the Body Politic.  He is our champion.  He is our Redeemer!"

The Anointed One reeled in horror.  He was the chosen.  He wore the Mantle of Power.  He was the one they had to worship.  He would see to it that the people would have this nanny nation to live on.

But it is too late for the false Messiah He has become, His oration will fail.  For the people of the nation have awakened.  Now they will just count the days to the next election where they can correct the mistake they made in 08!

Dedicated to the late Roger W. Gardner of Radarsite.  Massachusetts was his home state!

Copenhagen Junket Cost Millions - Millions for Failure: Jim Inhofe on Copenhagen and Caviar

Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK) attended the Copenhagen summit separate from the gang of 20-or-so Congressional global warming, and cap and tax advocates. Without Inhofe, we would know nothing about these arrogant politicians traveling on our millions, some taking family along in three luxurious military jets. The number was actually 101-or-so when Senators flying commercial with staff are counted.

Note that it was well-known before the summit, that Copenhagen would yield nothing. Still yet, swimming against the tide of strong American opposition to the goals of Copenhagen, our elected officials took a vacation courtesy of the taxpayer. The official line is that there was a need to "show support." Why should we support failure and spend millions to do so? We have let these people get away with this for so many years. How will we ever turn it around?

Also note that no one in Copenhagen was interested in Inhofe's message. That is clear evidence that the Senator has had a tremendous impact in fighting the global warming insanity. What greater honor than to have this gang ignore your message. Politico mentions that Inhofe was wearing black snakeskin cowboy boots (I can hear the derision in the printed words). Inhofe called global warming a hoax, and told the few gathered that the U.S. Senate will not pass cap and trade. And a der Speigel reporter told him he was "ridiculous." At this time ClimateGate had already broken...and this reporter calls Inhofe "ridiculous?"

Inhofe, a well-spoken and well-informed global warming opponent, gave CBS News some details. Why would CBS go to a Republican for the scoop? Because Democrats are not talking. Here's Inhofe:

Senator Inhofe is one of the few who provided us any detail. He attended the summit on his own for just a few hours, to give an "opposing view."
"They're going because it's the biggest party of the year," Sen. Inhofe said. "The worst thing that happened there is they ran out of caviar."
According to CBS:
Our investigation found that the congressional delegation was so large, it needed three military jets: two 737's and a Gulfstream Five -- up to 64 passengers -- traveling in luxurious comfort.

Add senators and staff, most of whom flew commercial, and we counted at least 101 Congress-related attendees. All for a summit that failed to deliver a global climate deal.

As a perk, some took spouses, since they could snag an open seat on a military jet or share a room at no extra cost to taxpayers. Rep. Cabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) was there with her husband. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito was also there with her husband. Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA) took his wife, as did Rep. Jim Sensebrenner (R-WI) -- a climate change skeptic -- even brought along his daughter.
Here's the math:
# Three military jets at $9,900 per hour - $168,000 just in flight time.

# Dozens flew commercial at up to $2,000 each.

# 321 hotel nights booked - the bulk at Copenhagen's five-star Marriott.

# Meals add tens of thousands more.
Here's the size of the carbon footprint, and I question the implication that carbon dioxide is "climate-stunting." Nevertheless, all that carbon footprint business is Liberal rhetoric, designed to harness our way of life, but not theirs:
And all those attendees who went to the summit rather than hooking up by teleconference? They produced enough climate-stunting carbon dioxide to fill 10,000 Olympic swimming pools. Which means even if Congress didn't get a global agreement - they left an indelible footprint all the same.
Inhofe says he made the trip to the frigid conference, which experienced record snowfalls, to correct what Senators Barbara Boxer and "maybe" John Kerry might say - that "we're going to pass climate change legislation." Inhofe said:
I want to make sure they know it's dead and it's not going to pass the United States Senate. It's not even close."
The above statement was made in early December - perhaps before we knew the lengths of disgrace this Senate will go to secure a vote. See the video below - which is a very good discussion - and don't miss, toward the end at about 5:36 minutes-in when Inhofe reveals why Liberals will not consider a simple carbon tax.

A little interesting tidbit: the interviewer here is CNN's Kiran Chetry. Remember when she jumped ship from FOX's Saturday morning FOX and Friends? When E.D. Hill left the top- rated weekday FOX and Friends, Kiran was a tad upset that Gretchen Carlson was chosen as E.D.'s  replacement. She and husband, a FOX meteorologist, jumped the deck of the sleek racing vessel at FOX to the sinking barge at CNN.

Back at Copenhagen, it is doubtful that frigid weather and record-breaking snowfalls kept the caviar or champagne from flowing, (until it ran out). Five-star Marriotts can throw a pretty good party.

Jim Inhofe Barbara Boxer Cap and Trade: Barbara Boxer Breaks Committee Written Rule

Senator Jim Inhofe was on Fox News this morning with Martha McCulloum. He was shocked that Senator Barbara Boxer actually broke a written committee rule to pass a cap and trade bill out of committee yesterday. See video below.

Jim Inhofe

Inhofe (R-OK) said this action by Boxer (D-CA) is "history-making...has never been done before" and is "unprecedented."

According to Inhofe, who is the ranking committee minority member, a bill should have two minority party (Republican) members present, before a bill can leave committee and be sent to the Senate floor. The Washington Post reported, before Boxer's action, that she was considering using "a simple majority" which would not require the presence of the minority.

I just got off the phone with Matt Dempsey in the Environment and Public Works Committee who confirmed there is a specific "rule" and it is not a matter of simple etiquette. Republicans have the right to boycott a hearing, and they did so. I see nothing in the rules that allows for a "simple majority." In fact, without a quorum, there is no avenue for conducting committee business. From the committee's webpage, here's the rule:
Rule 2. Quorums:
(a) BUSINESS MEETINGS: At committee business meetings, and for the purpose of approving the issuance of a subpoena or approving a committee resolution, one third of the members of the committee, at least two of whom are members of the minority party, constitute a quorum, except as provided in subsection (d)

(d) REPORTING: No measure or matter may be reported to the Senate by the committee unless a majority of committee members cast votes in person.
Democrat Senator Max Baucus (D-MT) is the only Democrat to vote against the bill, and according to Senator Inhofe, Baucus is chair of the Senate Finance Committee and  clearly understands that this bill is the largest tax increase on the American people in the history of the country. Inhofe believes the bill is "dead" on arrival.

My husband first heard the report that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce was now endorsing climate change legislation. A few curse words later, he settled down and we discussed how the Chamber of Commerce could possibly sell-out American businesses. Well, they didn't. Doesn't anyone vet anything anymore? See video below.

A few words on a memorandum, with a U.S. Chamber logo and contacts that do not exist - and that's all it took to get the astounding news on the so-called "news." I've looked for a similar FOX report. Can't find it, but then FOX doesn't report "news," do they?

We have a White House that does not "vet" and neither did Reuters or CNBC. Some reports say the Washington Post and the New York Times put the story on their websites before the truth was known. In fact, Reuters said they had an "obligation...to publish news and information that could move financial markets...." How embarrasing. Apparently no one tried to confirm the bogus memo and claims that should have raised some antenaes in any "real" news room.

The press release falsely quoted Donohue [Chamber president, who's name was mispelled on the memo [as saying : “We at the Chamber have tried to keep climate science from interfering with business. But without a stable climate, there will be no business. We need business more than we need relentlessly higher returns.” And the press release said that the Chamber is implementing an “immediate moratorium on lobbying and publicity work opposing climate legislation” – and suggested that high-profile defections from Apple, Nike PG&E and other companies played a role in the decision.
The memo's authors attempted to hold a press conference to make the big announcement - posing as Chamber officials. The imposters actually made it 20-minutes into the event before someone from the Chamber broke in and reportedly, screamed that the whole thing was a hoax. This from the GuardianUK:
The statement represented a complete repudiation of the Chamber's earlier opposition to climate change legislation. The hard line had triggered walk-outs from Apple and a handful of other high-profile companies in the past few weeks. The companies are trying to press the business organisation to support the bill by the senators John Kerry and Barbara Boxer that is to be debated by the Senate next week.
Oh the ecstasy for Al Gore and the White House: Their greenies fooled the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, brought them to their knees with green science, and the Chamber caved. Could a Monday get any better?

Larry Kudlow wants to know if the White House had anything to do with this. A group known as the "Yes Men" are said to have taken credit for the spoof. Here's the kicker: The Yes Men are releasing a documentary next week.

Tim Bishop Protests: Tim Bishop Constitutents: Throw the Bumbs Out

If you think American's aren't madder than heck, watch these constituents of New York's U.S. Rep. Tim Bishop (D). This lame excuse for a Congressman, Tim Bishop, refused to meet in scheduled Townhall-type meetings in June. The August recess should be exciting.

I had felt they would be pointless,” Rep. Tim Bishop (D-N.Y.) told POLITICO, referring to his recent decision to temporarily suspend the events in his Long Island district. “There is no point in meeting with my constituents and [to] listen to them and have them listen to you if what is basically an unruly mob prevents you from having an intelligent conversation. I have no problem with someone disagreeing with positions I hold,” Bishop said, noting that, for the time being, he was using other platforms to communicate with his constituents. “But I also believe no one is served if you can’t talk through differences.”
Right. No problem with those not agreeing with him. The protesters in the video are said to be from The Conservative Society for Action and "other angry taxpayers." The Long Island crowd got nowhere with Bishop who some say is a rubber stamp for Pelosi. They chanted. Besides some words about both Pelosi and Bishop, you'll hear "Throw the Bums Out," "Silent No More," "Stop Spending our Money," No Cap and Trade," "USA USA," chanted over and over. The crowd sang God Bless America, and displayed the flag and said the Pledge of Allegiance. This was an organized and peaceful protest that definitely had a message. It's a great video. A month ago, the health care bill was not the topic of scorn that it is today. Bishop can count on hearing about health care during is vacation, if he comes near his home district. Read about other politicians meeting protests around the country.

What's Happening Now with Climate Change Around the World?

The following is from the Wall Street Journal. It gives a good look at what's happening now with climate change legislation around the world. According to the Wall Street Journal, Australian Senator Steve Fielding has announced that he will vote against his country's climate change legislation [reformatted for emphasis].

...the Australian Parliament is preparing to kill its own country's carbon-emissions scheme. Why? A growing number of Australian politicians, scientists and citizens once again doubt the science of human-caused global warming. This week Mr. Fielding issued a statement: He would not be voting for the bill. He would not risk job losses on "unconvincing green science."
Credit for Australia's own era of renewed enlightenment goes to Dr. Ian Plimer, a well-known Australian geologist. Earlier this year he published "Heaven and Earth," a damning critique of the "evidence" underpinning man-made global warming. The book is already in its fifth printing. So compelling is it that Paul Sheehan, a noted Australian columnist -- and ardent global warming believer -- in April humbly pronounced it "an evidence-based attack on conformity and orthodoxy, including my own, and a reminder to respect informed dissent and beware of ideology subverting evidence." Australian polls have shown a sharp uptick in public skepticism; the press is back to questioning scientific dogma; blogs are having a field day.
In April, the Polish Academy of Sciences published a document challenging man-made global warming. In the Czech Republic, where President Vaclav Klaus remains a leading skeptic, today only 11% of the population believes humans play a role. In France, President Nicolas Sarkozy wants to tap Claude Allegre to lead the country's new ministry of industry and innovation. Twenty years ago Mr. Allegre was among the first to trill about man-made global warming, but the geochemist has since recanted. New Zealand last year elected a new government, which immediately suspended the country's weeks-old cap-and-trade program. Joanne Simpson, the world's first woman to receive a Ph.D. in meteorology, expressed relief upon her retirement last year that she was finally free to speak "frankly" of her nonbelief. Dr. Kiminori Itoh, a Japanese environmental physical chemist who contributed to a U.N. climate report, dubs man-made warming "the worst scientific scandal in history." Norway's Ivar Giaever, Nobel Prize winner for physics, decries it as the "new religion." A group of 54 noted physicists, led by Princeton's Will Happer, is demanding the American Physical Society revise its position that the science is settled. (Both Nature and Science magazines have refused to run the physicists' open letter.) ...if the rest of the world is any indication, now might be the time for U.S. politicians to re-engage on the science. One thing for sure: They won't be alone.

What You Need to Know About Cap and Trade

by HockeyDino June 30, 2009 Speaker Pelosi’s national energy tax is going to raise electricity prices, increase gasoline prices, and ship American jobs overseas to countries like China and India. This, we know.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi - Cap and Trade
It would be a bureaucratic nightmare overseen by a confusing web of government agencies that would take and redistribute trillions of dollars from family budgets and workers payrolls. This, we also know. Even Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson (D-MN) admitted in the Washington Post this morning that: “The truth is, nobody knows for sure how this is going to work.” How encouraging. But what don’t we know? Here are some facts you may not know about Speaker Pelosi’s national energy tax: • Speaker Pelosi, Senator Markey the bill author and many others have invested millions in the various companies that will directly benefit form this legislation. Al Gore will be an overnight BILLIONAIRE because his companies will benefit the most from this bill. • Homebuyers Beware. Trying to save up for a new home? You may have to save up a little longer for your purchase. The Democrats’ bill would dramatically increase new home costs by mandating California’s expensive new building codes for the entire nation. Immediately upon enactment, the Democrats’ bill would demand a 30 percent increase in energy efficiency for new construction. A couple of years later, the Democrats’ bill would require an additional 50 percent improvement. These numbers were chosen with no concern for cost to consumers or feasibility in implementation. • Homebuilders Beware. The Democrats’ bill imposes new mandatory regulations and civil penalties for homebuilders. If your state refuses to accept the stringent and costly California building codes, the federal government may assess penalties. And don’t get too comfortable with the new mandatory regulations because the Democrats’ bill allows for “consensus-based” codes to supplant those outlined in the bill. So, as soon as you’ve invested your hard-earned money to comply with the bill’s mandates, the rug could get pulled from underneath you. Translation? You’ll pony up more and more money. • Home Sellers Beware. Having a hard time selling your home? Here’s one more hurdle to jump: all homes sales are conditioned upon an energy audit and a new energy rating assessment and energy labeling program for your home that’s outlined in the Democrats’ bill. And if you thought you could improve your property with a fresh coat of paint and some granite counters? Think again! Now your home will be subjected to a new energy rating assessment and energy labeling program that will penalize you for older windows, original fixtures, and dated appliances. So the Democrats’ bill would bring down the value of your home! • New Lights No Matter the Cost. As early as 2012, the Democrats’ bill eliminates all existing lighting technology used in many outdoor lighting fleets (parking lots, stadiums, secured facilities like power plants and factories). Just as an example, switching to the mandated technology in the bill will cost one small utility about $30 million in annual revenue. So you now have to comply with the new mandates for new lighting? Hold the phone. It is not clear that a feasible alternative technology is available for every existing lighting application – regardless of cost – which could force some businesses to close. The consequences of Speaker Pelosi’s national energy tax for families and small businesses are real. It will drive up energy costs, send millions of jobs to countries like China and India, and place an especially heavy burden on rural America. There is a better way. End HockyDino Call your Senator now. Click here for Senate list. You have until July 2nd.

Cap and Trade Eight: Eight Republicans Sell Out to Environmentalists and Obama

A report out today explains why the Cap and Trade Eight Republicans defected to the Cap and Trade Bill and voted for it, even with heavy protests from voters at home. It's always about money. This time wasn't any different. Rush Limbaugh asks the questions that need to be asked:

Cap and TRADE. Trade. Who's gonna trade? Who's gonna monitor the trades? Who's going to do the trades? Who's gonna get the profit? Who's gonna get the fees? Who's going to get the commissions on the caps that are traded, the pollution credits and so forth? Wall Street! Goldman Sachs. And I speculated that these Republicans, particularly the Northeast Republicans, voted for this abomination because campaign cash from Wall Street firms weighed more than their constituents desire for the bill to not pass. Well, according to the Washington Examiner, Kevin Mooney: "House Republicans who received campaign donations from environmental groups helped make up the narrow margin of votes needed to send the Waxman-Markey 'cap and trade' bill over to the US Senate. The legislation passed by a vote of just 219 to 212 on Friday with critical assistance from eight Republicans," and we identify them again for you. "They are: Mary Bono Mack (Calif.), Mike Castle (Del.), Mark Kirk (Ill.), Leonard Lance (NJ), Frank LoBiondo (NJ), John McHugh (NY), Dave Reichert (Wash.), Chris Smith (NJ). ... Political Action Committees (PACs) connected with the League of Conservation Voters, the Sierra Club, Ocean Champions and Republicans for Environmental Protection have made donations to most of these same eight Republican lawmakers in recent election cycles, according to OpenSecrets.Org. Rep. Kirk of Illinois, for instance, was among the top 20 recipients of PAC donations from environmental[ist wacko] groups in the 2008 election cycle."
This story details all of the contributions to all of these Republicans. So it wasn't Wall Street money. It's even worse. It's environmentalist wacko money. Republicans! Republicans taking environmentalist wacko money -- and those of you who live in the districts represented by these people, you have to know that the money donated to them mattered more to them (you know, paying back that donation) than voting your desires. And probably what they instinctively think about this bill anyway. Here are some more details about the cap-and-trade program. You know, home sales, by the way... As Obama would say, "Most economists from across the spectrum agree." That's how he does it. "Economists from a wide spectrum of thought all agree..." Home sales are critical for the recovery of the American economy, and the administration is saying this, and it's true. Home sales are critical. So why put these provisions in the cap-and-trade bill? Listen to this. "Homebuyers Beware. These numbers were chosen with no concern for cost to consumers or feasibility in implementation," and most people voting on it didn't even know these provisions were in the bill 'cause there was not a bill. So this is going to stifle the American economic recovery because it's going to stifle home sales. That's just one of two or three items I want to tell you about.
I'm not sure what more Rush wanted to tell us, but I'll mention this once again: Under the House Cap and Trade, all states...that's ALL STATES, will be forced to adopt California's zoning laws. So you will pay for earthquake proof construction whether you need it or not. Environmentalists in California are close to convincing the state Father's that certain colors need to be outlawed...like the color black...(what happens with asphalt)? There is already talk that black automobiles will be against the law in California. One of the most important things to remember is that almost every single Congressman, and maybe every Congressman, who voted for this legislation, had not read the legislation. I'm going to attempt to wade through the Bill and report back if my brain isn't fried. Warren Buffet Cap and Trade: Huge Tax and Regressive

In this video below, which I found at the stellar Conservative Thoughts blog, big time billionaire Liberal Obama supporter and donor, Warren Buffet, says that Cap and Trade is a huge tax, it's regressive and it will cost "some very poor people a lot more for electricity."

Warren Buffet
What Buffet doesn't say is, it will also cost a lot of us who are not yet poor, but work hard every day to pay our bills. The thing is, we will continue to pay our bills but live on less, thanks to this Democrat garbage legislation. Now the Senate must pass its version of Cap and Trade. Start contacting your Senator now, even if you think he/she would never vote for this massive tax hike. Get your opposition registered with your Senator's office now. Who knows what the administration has planned to purchase your Senator's good judgement. Update 6-30-09 Fellow blogger Bungalow Bill's Conservative Wisdom has been doing some major work on Cap and Trade and he reminds me that there is a rebate for low-income families. Call that rebate a "Redistribution of Wealth" right inside this Democrat legislation. Read it explained fully and simply here. EPA Silences, Suppresses Opposition: EPA Lies

Repeated lies from a Government to the people is usually the strategy of a third-world country or a dictatorship, but we find it happening in the United States every day. These are big lies, important lies, lies that affect the future of all of us...the future of our children and grandchildren and their children. Just as the media has refused to do much reporting on the Cap and Trade Bill, they also will not tell you of the lies leading up to the vote on the Waxman-Markey Bill. In this case, the EPA silenced and suppressed opposition, and blatantly lied. See a video below.

EPA
Here's the opening of an Investor's Business Daily editorial from Friday, June 26th, 2009 - the day of the House vote:
Climate Change: A suppressed EPA study says old U.N. data ignore the decline in global temperatures and other inconvenient truths. Was the report kept under wraps to influence the vote on the cap-and-trade bill?
The Competitive Enterprise Institute released a study that they say was "suppressed" by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The report says that the United Nations uses "outdated research" on climate change and "ignores the latest scientific findings." From the report:
Given the downward trend in temperatures since 1998 (which some think will continue until at least 2030), there is no particular reason to rush into decisions based on a scientific hypothesis that does not appear to explain most of the available data."
As Obama and Pelosi have shoved this legislation down our collective throats, many Americans are gullible enough to think this legislation takes us to nirvana. Many are dreaming of working among the "green" jobs that will save America. Wake up America. Those dreams you are dreaming of, will turn into nightmares.
Little evidence? Outdated U.N. research? No reason to rush? This is not what the Obama administration and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi were telling us when they were rushing to force a Friday vote on Waxman-Markey. We were given the impression that unless we passed this cap-and-tax fiasco, polar bears would be extinct by the Fourth of July.
Internal EPA emails show that the Agency knows and understands that their data is wrong, and those emails also show that they were intentionally suppressed. This is the people's EPA. Wake up America. Do you get your news from David Letterman?
The report was the product of Alan Carlin, senior operations research analyst at the EPA's National Center for Environmental Economics (NCEE). He's been with the EPA for 38 years but now has been taken off all climate-related work. He is convinced that actual climate observations do not match climate change theories and that only the politics, not the science, has been settled. One of the e-mails unearthed by CEI was dated March 12, from Al McGartland, office director at NCEE, forbidding Carlin from speaking to anyone outside NCEE on endangerment issues such as those in his suppressed report.
All this is particularly interesting because of the charges by Al Gore, NASA's James Hansen and others that the Bush administration and energy companies actively suppressed the truth about climate change.
Carlin was told March 17: "The administrator and the administration have decided to move forward on endangerment, and your comments do not help the legal or policy case for this decision. . . . I can only see one impact of your comments given where we are in the process, and that would be a very negative impact on our office."

In other words, the administration and Congress had their collective minds made up and didn't want to be confused with the facts. They certainly didn't want any inconvenient truths coming out of their own Environmental Protection Agency, the one that wants to regulate everything from your lawn mower to bovine emissions and which says the product of your respiration and ours, carbon dioxide, is a dangerous pollutant and not the basis for all life on earth.

Thank you to Investor's Business Daily for making this information available. I hope you will read the entire editorial. Thank you to Senator Jim Inhofe who has led the way to understanding the deception behind global warming/climate change. This video is a bit long, but it's full of useful information. California Zoning Laws Coming to Your Neighborhood, In Any State - Courtesy Cap and Trade

Did you know that the Cap and Trade Bill the House passed last Friday forces California zoning laws on your neighborhood and town, no matter the state you live in?

Caifornia Zoning Laws Coming to Your Neighborhood
If you were listening to Mark Levin's show last Friday before the vote on cap and trade, we learned the Democrats snuck into the climate bill a provision that forces the states and local communities to follow and enforce California zoning laws. I shouldn't have to tell you this kills the Tenth Amendment. If the Senate passes the climate bill, the federal government will micromanage your communities zoning laws regardless of whether you live in Strafford, Missouri or Chicago, Illinois. This is so far beyond Constitutional, and if your state and community doesn't challenge this, then you may as well surrender the rest of your rights as well.
Hmmmm. Do you want to pay the construction costs for building to earthquake code, whether you need it or not?
California house building laws will be forced upon the other 49 states as well. Remember California is debating outlawing colors like black because they believe the color black encourages global warming. I wrote earlier this year about how they are looking to require people to paint roofs white in order to cut down on global warming. California's silliness will drive up the costs of new homes.
Bungalow Bill points out that California's existing zoning makes it impossible build new power plants - the perfect goal for a greenie. Read it all Bungalow Bill's Conservative Wisdom and let your Senator's office know that you will not accept a vote for Cap and Trade when it comes to the floor, and if they do vote for the legislation, you will make it your personal mission to see to it they lose their seat in the Senate.

California Blogger Gives Insight Into Cap and Trade

Bloviating Zeppelin has posted a speech from his Congressman, Tom McClintock, who voted against the House Cap and Trade legislation last week. Unfortunately, Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein will speak on his behalf when the legislation comes before Senate. If that's not a depressing thought, I don't know what is. My own Senators, Jim Inhofe and Tom Coburn will vote against the legislation and Senator Inhofe has said there is no chance Cap and Trade will pass.

Rep. Tom McClintock
In the meantime, as you continue to contact your own Senators, advising them to vote against this man-made disaster or else...read Congressman McClintock's history on a similar bill that has already wreaked havoc on the beautiful State of California [just a snippet below - read the entire speech at Bloviating Zeppelin]:
Up until that bill took effect, California’s unemployment numbers tracked very closely with the national unemployment rate. But then in January of 2007, California’s unemployment rate began a steady upward divergence from the national jobless figures. Today, California’s unemployment rate is more than two points above the national rate, and at its highest point since 1941. So when economists warn that we can expect electricity prices to double under the cap and trade bill, I can tell you from bitter experience that in my district, that’s not a future prediction, that is an historical fact.

Cap and Trade Passes House: Eight GOP Defectors, 50 Dems Voted "No"

After Rep. Henry Waxman introduced a 300-page amendment at 3:09 a.m. the day of the vote, Waxman attempted to shame Rep. John Boehner for taking some time to talk about "the most profound piece of legislation to come to this floor in 100 years," while allowing only a "whopping 5 hours" of debate. Boehner accuses Waxman of have the "audacity" to drop the amendment only hours before the vote, and asks, doesn't he [Waxman] think the voters expect Congress to understand what's in the Bill before we vote on it?

Thank you to Hot Air. Watch the video below. Well, of course, Waxman doesn't care who understands the Bill and who doesn't. He just wants it passed. With the help of 8 GOP'ers, the Bill passed 219 to 212. Republicans who voted for the Democrat's man-made disaster - the bill that will cost the average homeowner $3,200.00 per year, are:

Mary Bono Mack (R-CA)
Mike Castle (R-DE)
Mark Kirk (R-IL)
Leonard Lance (R-NJ)
Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ) J
John McHugh (R-NJ)
Dave Reichert (R-WA)
Rep. Chris Smith (NJ)

Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK) says the Bill is already dead in the Senate:
He said all the hubbub in the House was over Pelosi’s desire to attend a conference in Copenhagen and be able to stand up and say, “Oh, we’ve passed this out of the House and we’re going to lead the way in America but it’s not going to pass the Senate. Inhofe said the bill, if passed, would constitute the largest tax increase in the history of the country.
He scoffed at Democratic claims that “cap and trade” doesn’t represent a tax increase at all but instead is a free enterprise solution. “MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and the Wharton School of Economics came out with an analysis of what this is. They said that the range is between $330 and $350 billion a year. That translates in Oklahoma to $3,200 per family. Everyone who’s reading this story right now, that would be a tax increase of over $3,000 per family. I can give you all the documentation on that.”
Inhofe said Sen. John Kerry, D-Massachusetts, tried to “rip me up” on the Senate floor only Thursday night and I said, “In your state of Massachusetts, there’s an innocuous organization called MIT. Are you familiar with that?” Then, he said, he read what the MIT analysis had to say.
This is a rousing interview with Senator Inhofe with brief statements on gun control, health care and Supreme Court nominee,, Sonia Sotomayor. Read it here, but just this tidbit about Sotomayor:
He repeated his intention to vote against the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court but acknowledge that she will be confirmed, quoting Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-NY, as saying Republicans are afraid to vote against her because she’s a woman and she’s Hispanic. “I’m not,” Inhofe said without hesitation. “I’m going to be voting against her.”
ChicagoRay has one of the best posts up on Cap and Trade, with a graphic that leaves no doubt what the House tried to do to Americans today.
