DDT, Delta Smelt, Americas Water: Glen Beck Carrie Underwood Video

Glen Beck today was talking about many things, DDT, the Delta Smelt and America's water supply, among them. I'm bringing Carrie Underwood into it. Glen is talking about the California farmer's desperate need for water, and I have a terrific video under the terrific video from Beck today - 2 videos. Water is being denied to farmers to protect the Delta Smelt which is a minnow. There's more to that story however. There is an ultimate motive, as there is always an ultimate motive with our current Socialist government. The motive in this case is Senate Bill 787, authored by Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI). The idea behind the bill, The Clean Water Restoration Act, is that the government grabs America's water. I wrote about this in May, and here is the introductory paragraph, which will give an example of how water - the most important resource everywhere in the world - can be used to control a people:

I was doing a post on the plight of Israel in 1967 when surrounding Arab countries were attempting to divert Israel's irrigation water. That water was a key player in the start of the 1967 War. No country can survive healthily without crop water.
Okay, that's Israel and that was 1967, but it is not a stretch that the government, our government, wants your pond. OpenCongress.org says s.787 seeks to amend the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to clarify the jurisdiction of the United States over the waters of the United States - which is a change from jurisdiction over only the "navigable waters" of the United States. The key words in the above paragraph are "water of the United States." Here is how the Clean Water Act defines these waters: The official term "waters of the United States" means, among other things (thanks to American Daughter ):
WATERS OF THE UNITED STATES- The term ‘waters of the United States’ means all waters subject to the ebb and flow of the tide, the territorial seas, and all interstate and intrastate waters and their tributaries, including lakes, rivers, streams (including intermittent streams), mudflats, sandflats, wetlands, sloughs, prairie potholes, wet meadows, playa lakes, natural ponds, and all impoundments of the foregoing, to the fullest extent that these waters, or activities affecting these waters, are subject to the legislative power of Congress under the Constitution.:
See what I mean about your pond? So Glen Beck today is talking about the lack of water in California and that the current focus on the "F" word, "fire," is not as important as another "F" word, "Farmer." Water is denied farmers because the Delta Smelt is protected. Here again is some of my commentary from May:
By now, you know that California farmers in the Central Valley are losing their farmland and their livelihood due to a two-inch minnow, the Delta Smelt. The government has taken the water from the farmers and given it to the minnow. What do you do when the gov'mt owns your pond - the pond your cattle drinks from and cools-off in, or the water in the fish-hatchery you own, or.... Senate Bill s.787 is not about the Delta Smelt, but the Delta Smelt is just one current and critical bit of evidence that proves what the government can do to us, if we allow it. Yes, you can put this off on the environmental "greenies" but, the governing body is "the government."
We might want to dismiss any evil intent in s. 787, but changing the designation of the original waters as set out in the original Clean Water Act of numerous years ago, from "navigable waters," to "water of the United States," which includes ALL waters, is a bit of a jump, and I just wonder why the government feels it necessary to control ALL of America's waters. There are a lot of crazy things going on, all of which have years of planning behind them by those dedicated to Socialism, redistribution of wealth, and worse. Control the water, control the health care. The Delta Smelt deprives Americans of food and livelihood - you'll see more about this in the second video below. DDT? Well I began thinking about DDT again during the last days of this year's American Idol. Former idol, Carrie Underwood - you know that gorgeous Okie who is a role-model-exceptionale (just recently partnered in a huge donation of musical instruments to her former high school in Checotah, Oklahoma) - well, anyway, Carrie was in Africa handing out mosquito nets to African mothers to help protect them and their children from mosquito bites, which are often deadly there. That brought to mind the fact that Rachel Carson convinced everyone that DDT was dangerous and toxic. It was banned in the U.S. in 1972. It is still legal in Africa but the use is discouraged - even thought some 3,000 people die, every day, - an African child dies every 30 seconds - in Africa from malaria alone. DDT is also considered effective in preventing typhus and typhoid fever. Nevertheless, the UN is trying to ban it worldwide. I think it is a good bet that Rachel Carson can be attributed with killing more people in the world than any other single person. There is worldwide suffering, even though, as you'll hear Beck report, there are no reports of DDT harming humans. People are still dying today. The mission is to supply mosquito nets. Are we ignorant or what? The first video is Glen talking about all of the above, (except Carrie Underwood), DDT, the Delta Smelt, America's water . He includes Van Jones - the Green Czar. Two important videos follow:

Americas Water - Delta Smelt (video)
Note: Senate Bill 787 had some action on June 17th. An amendment was added. More on this later. The co-authors are many and include all the usual suspects, including Boxer,Cantwell, Dodd, Durbin, Kerry,Leahy, Levin, Sanders, Schumer and sadly, Joe Lieberman.

Glen Beck Debt Clock: Glen Beck Charles Payne Debt Clock (Video)

I've been to the National Debt Clock many times. I watch it and my eyes glaze over. Today, Glen Beck put it up on his really, really big screen and invited economic analyst Charles Payne over to chat about it. I had to pay attention. It was so awful, yet I couldn't stop looking and listening. Did you see this today? What do you think about it?

Daniel Hannan Glen Beck: Beck on Prostate Cancer

Among the many, many reasons not to accept the health care reform that the administration is planning for us, here are two. Maybe taking them in small doses will make am impact. One is discussed in the video below and one is not.

Daniel Hannan
First, the issue not in the video: if you are a wealthy person, or a middle-income person and you take solace in the fact that you will just pay a physician for your care and to heck with the government plan, think again. Your physician may (may, maybe, maybe not) be able to treat you, but if you need a procedure that will put you in a surgical facility - your physician will not be in a position to get you scheduled. That can only be done through the government program. There will be no private surgical facilities, because the hospitals must approve every facility outside of their domain. Second, the issue in the video discusses prostate cancer. Glen Beck and Britain's Daniel Hannan discuss the inadequacy of Britain's universal health care. Beck offers some prostate cancer statics: Currently in the U.S. there is a 100 percent relative survival rate, in Canada the relative survival rate is 95 percent and in the UK - only 77 percent. If cancer has not been introduced to your family, your friends or your co-workers...yet, you are fortunate, but you know you will not escape it forever. This video is about more than cancer survival rates. I hope you'll watch it.

Beck CARS Warning: CARS Website Steals Computer, CARS Steals Personal Information (Video)

It's a wonderful thing. The "government" has given away another $2 million of taxpayer money to help Americans buy a new car, after turning in their gas guzzling clunker in the Cash for Clunkers program. See video below.

Glen Beck
Glen Beck has logged on to the site and found a warning that is significant, and if you have no plans to visit the CARS website, because you will not use the CARS program - nevertheless, you need to know what your government is doing to everyone who visits and hits the "continue" button. You'll see the following on your computer screen at CARS.gov:
Privacy Act & Security Statement This application provides access to the DoT CARS system. When logged on to the CARS system, your computer is considered a Federal computer system and is property of the United States government, any or all uses of this system [your computer] and all files on this system [your computer] may be intercepted, monitored, recorded, copied, audited, inspected, and disclosed to authorized CARS, DoT, law enforcement personnel, as well as authorized officials of other agencies, both domestic and foreign.
No notice that once you leave the site, your personal information will magically disappear, no longer be stored in the clutches of "the government." My imagination isn't nearly creative enough to think of all the ways the government can use your information and then track you afterwards. Of course, they will - at least some of you. Otherwise, why would they take charge of everything on your computer? Here's a couple of things the U.S. government under the Obama administration might consider doing now that they know you a bit better - just guesses, of course: 1) If you have outstanding warrants for about anything, I bet the "law enforcement" mentioned above will come knocking on your door. I think that's a good idea, because if you have outstanding warrants, you and law enforcement likely need a meet-up. Maybe some dead-beat moms and dads will be brought to justice through the government theft of personal information. 2) If you are a local councilman, or just an ordinary person with a clunker in the garage, and you've been copying Governor Mark Sanford's love letter to his paramour and emailing them to your illegal love, you'll likely be disgraced and lose your council seat, or whatever. 3) If you have a boss you really, really dislike and are prone to rant on the web under a pseudonym, where you think no one will find your missives...beware. Is there someone out there wanting to blackmail you? Does your company employ a web sleuth to find disloyal workers? If so, the sleuth's job just got easier. If your company is a government contractor, you may have a target on your back. 4) Have you googled an embarrassing medical situation that you wouldn't tell a soul about? Oops! 5) Have information about your children's school activities on your computer, your child's age, anything about their friends? Would you want anyone to have access to that information? I've omitted financial records. None of us want those exposed. Here's the thing: you think none of the above could happen? Gird your loins. Your government is willing and able to steal your personal information. I know, I know. You will not participate in the program, but doesn't it make you incredibly angry that your government will do this? Am I over-reacting? Tell me what you think. Thank you to Glen Beck.

White House Charges Walpin Confused Disoriented

The White House is saying that for Inspector General Gerald Walpin was fired because he appeared "confused and disoriented" at a meeting? Have you seen former Inspector General Gerald Walpin on television? If you have, you know a "confused and disoriented" scenario with this man is likely not truthful. See a video below. See update 11-10-09 below.

White House

President Obama's Special Counsel Norm Eisen penned a letter to Senators Lieberman and Susan Collins outlining the reasons the President fired Mr. Walpin.
Eisen charged that at a May 20, 2009 board meeting Walpin "was confused, disoriented, unable to answer questions and exhibited other behavior that led the Board to question his capacity to serve."
The Obama administration "further learned that Mr. Walpin had been absent from the Corporation's headquarters, insisting upon working from his home in New York over the objections of the Corporation's Board; that he had exhibited a lack of candor in providing material information to decision makers; and that he had engaged in other troubling and inappropriate conduct. Mr. Walpin had become unduly disruptive to agency operations, impairing his effectiveness and, for the reasons stated above, losing the confidence of the Board.
The White House failed to follow requirements that Inspector Generals receive a 30-day notice and documentation of reasons for the firing presented to Congress. Walpin was given one hour to resign or be fired, by telephone, from Eisen. Background:
The Inspector General investigating AmeriCorps and other national service programs has been fired, and may have been fired for revealing misdeeds involving thousands of taxpayer dollars by an Obama supporter.
There's more: the way in which Obama handled the firing may have flown in the face of current law. Inspector General Gerald Walpin reported that Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, an Obama supporter, former NBA Basketball star (and rumored personal friend), and St. HOPE Academy founder, a non-profit group, received hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal grants and used the monies illegally or in a wasteful and abusive manner.
St. HOPE eventually repaid the government more than $400,000.00.
It is timely to note that Michelle Obama seems to be involved in the hiring of the top positions of the Corporation National and Community Service (CNCS) Corporation which employed Gerald as an independent Inspector General.

Her Chief-of-Staff just left her White House Office to join CNCS and three other top positions are empty. The Obama's are not going to tolerate an up-start like Walpin looking into their beloved AmeriCorp.

Fact is, Walpin had already done the looking and the picture wasn't pretty. More as it becomes available. Walpin should have plenty to say about these charges. Watch this video if you haven't already seen it. Let me know if you an even imagine this man being confused and disoriented. Walpin appears at about 3:31 minutes into the video.

Glen Beck - Gerald Walpin Video: IG Gerald Walpin on Glen Beck

Inspector General Gerald Walpin was fired by Barack Obama last week. First, the White House told Walpin to resign or be fired within one hour. Walpin was given no explanation for his firing. Walpin refused to resign. Mr. Walpin is interviewed by Glen Beck in the video below. The video begins with Beck talking to Byron York, chief political reporter for the Washington Examiner, who has done some excellent investigative reporting on Mr. Walpin's firing. The interview with Beck and Walpin begins at about 3:32 minutes into the video. See update 11-10-09 below.

Glen Beck

A few points that matter (with links to original reporting below):

1) In 2008 while Barack Obama was still in the Senate, he co-sponsored a Bill designed to protect Inspector Generals from political pressures. The Bill passed and mandated that a U.S. President can fire an IG only with 30 days notices and a letter to Congress detailing why the IG is being fired. In this case, a letter from Obama was given to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid saying only that the President had lost faith and confidence" in Walpin's work. As Walpin says in this video, that's not a reason, that's a conclusion.

2) IG Walpin had investigated a few things near-and-dear to Barack Obama, specifically AmeriCorps, and through AmeriCorps, specifically Obama's friend and former NBA star and current Sacramento, CA mayor, Kevin Johnson. The details are ugly, and you'll see in this video that it is mentioned that not only was Johnson a huge supporter of Obama during the campaign but the two shoot a few hoops together from time to time. Walpin found millions in misued federal funds.

3) Michelle Obama seems to be doing the hiring at the direct office which Walpin was fired from. Michelle's chief of staff recently left her White House office to go to that office. Three additional high-placed offices are currently empty. I'm betting Michelle has all the input into how those positions are filled. This is another instance of President Obama thwarting law. I hope you watch the Beck video below, because folks, this is just the tip of the iceberg. New information on Walpin's firing coming soon.

Glen Beck Ambush: The View Divas, BaBwa and Whoopee - The Truth Video

You've heard the first part of this story: Glen Beck, his wife and friends, get onto Amtrak and his way to the Correspondents Dinner in Washington, D.C. Finds a conference table on the train and is told those seats are reserved.

Glen Beck
Beck thinks the seats must surely be held for Joe Biden and expects him to get on when they reach NYC. Instead, a police cadre enters the care and escorts Barbara Walters and Whoopee Goldberg to the seats. Beck has fun with it on his TV show. BaBwa and Whoopee don't like it - they are they say "pissed." Glen was already scheduled to appear on the view when the Amtrak incident happens. He shows up for The View and it wasn't a happy occasion. Well, we've heard a lot about this. Beck seemed to acknowledge that he was wrong - BaBwa didn't "call him over," he went over to BaBwa. But that's not the end of the story. The Divas say the seats were not reserved for them and indicated that Beck lied. Scott Baker at Breitbart TV did some investigating. Who lied? Is Glen Beck actually a lying sack of dog mess, as Whoopee said? or...Watch the video - it's fascinating. These women are out-of-control.

Brian Deese is GM Demantler: Deese Rewrites the Capitalism: Glen Beck Video

Brian Deese is 31 years and he works for Barack Obama. Mr. Deese has not graduated Yale Law School yet, and until now has not held a government job, worked for an auto manufacturer, let alone on an assembly line, but he is THE man (make that young man) behind President Obama's "biggest experiment yet in federal economic intervention," as Glen Beck says. See video below.

Brian Deese

Brian Deese, according to the New York Times, is "responsible for the fate of the U.S. auto industry. Brian Deese is the GM demantler, Brian Deese is rewriting the rules of American capitalism, because it was Deese who advised the President not to let the industry fail - this according to the New York Times. Brian Deese is the man who ran the numbers, but he doesn't have a background in economics or business, let alone a degree in either. Nevertheless, Larry Summers, the head of the National Economic Council says Deese "grasps both the economics and the politic about as quickly as I've seen anyone do this." The New York Times muses just a quick tad about Deese's lack of credentials and sums it up with:
Mr. Deese’s role is unusual for someone who is neither a formally trained economist nor a business school graduate, and who never spent much time flipping through the endless studies about the future of the American and Japanese auto industries.
"Unusual" I would say, but reducing a degree down to time spent "flipping through the endless studies???" If it were not so pitiful, it would be downright hilarious. But it isn't hilarious because this is someone instrumental for the $100 million or so the taxpayers have put out on behalf of GM, while getting nothing back and many, in fact, who will be forced into bankruptcy themselves. Read Glen Beck's commentary here but better yet, watch the video commentary below.

Obama’s Marxist Boot Camps

Cross-posted from Faultline USA

Why are the Obamas against Heterosexualism? Say what? Did I write that correctly?

Yes and ya just can’t make this stuff up folks!

When you think of Obama’s presidency, God forbid, you must think re-education and redistribution!

Here's how it goes in that Boot Camp:

Remember that homosexuality is normal. Any thought that heterosexuality is normal is just plain elitist and must be eradicated along with White privilege, and a capitalistic economy.

According to an article in Investor’s Business Daily, “Obama plans to use the nonprofit group, which he features on his campaign Web site, as the model for a national service corps. He calls his Orwellian program, "Universal Voluntary Public Service."

The nonprofit group that Obama helped found in 1992 is called Public Allies., but more on that later. Stick with me it only gets worse.

The Wurx of Daily Kos claims that the GOP will swiftboat Obama by attacking Obama’s community organizing. “Soon to come from the GOP - why Saul Alinsky is evil.”

Well, we don’t want to disappoint the Marxist scum at Daily Kos.

What we’ve learned so far has provided a much better understanding of Obama’s “community organizing” Marxist style.

As reported by Catholics Against Obama For President

The following radio transcript is from today's Glenn Beck radio program. He shares information published in Investor's Business Weekly about Barack Obama's ties to a group called Public Allies, in which he and wife Michelle were a founding member and executive director, respectively. The article cites language from a training session in which "members" are taught that heterosexism is a negative byproduct of "capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy and male dominated privilege." Interesting...

Here’s an excerpt from the Glenn Beck article:

Obama said, quote: We have got to have a civilian national security force that is just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded as the military. Public Allies, Chicago chapter. Founding, founding member, Barack Obama. Executive director, Michelle Obama. Listen to the words in their speeches. It is all code language. It is all the language of the 1960s radicals. They have their they have their tentacles into an organization that does good things but also teaches that heterosexism is a byproduct of capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy and male dominated privilege. Heterosexism!

I Took The Red Pill wrote:

I’m particularly interested in Obama’s period of community activism in Chicago in the 1980s. His employer was the Gamaliel Foundation. Gamaliel, an activist organization strangely merging the teachings of Marxist strategist Saul Alinsky with those of the Apostle Paul, operates with that same sense of religious destiny that we’ve noticed in both Barack and Michelle Obama’s speeches. Alinsky counseled tapping anger as a motivator for radical change . . .

Read about Hillary’s college thesis on Saul Alinsky herein Who was Saul Alinsky?

Here’s an Excerpt from Hannity interview with Jerome Corsi This is a rush transcript from "Hannity & Colmes," July 31, 2008.

SEAN HANNITY, CO-HOST: HANNITY: A new book due out tomorrow makes shocking allegations about Senator Obama's background, and it may have made his campaign a bit nervous. From Barack and Michelle's 20-year-long relationship with Trinity Church to Obama's family connections to Kenya to his dealings with, well, Bill Ayers, the unrepentant terrorist, the author aims to expose what he says is the real Obama.

Joining us now, in an exclusive interview, is the author of "The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and The Cult of Personality," Dr. Jerome Corsi is with us.

HANNITY: And then -- then you move into his current positions and where he stands. And it is a picture that you're painting of a radical leftist socialist, a guy that believes in redistribution, that has basically -- these views have been shaped and formed from his youth.

CORSI: That's right, including being a Saul Alinsky organizer, and Saul Alinsky was a radical leftist organizer who said that his goal was redistribution of wealth from the haves to the have-nots.

HANNITY: Walk us through those three phases, from his family to his radical associations, to his views today. . .

Here are a few excerpts from Michelle's Boot Camps For Radicals

Published 9/4/2008 in INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY

Election '08: Democrats' reintroduction of militant Michelle Obama in Denver was supposed to show her softer side. But it only highlighted a radical part of her resume: Public Allies.

Barack Obama was a founding member of the board of Public Allies in 1992, resigning before his wife became executive director of the Chicago chapter of Public Allies in 1993. Obama plans to use the nonprofit group, which he features on his campaign Web site, as the model for a national service corps. He calls his Orwellian program, "Universal Voluntary Public Service." . . .

The pitch Public Allies makes on its Web site doesn't seem all that radical. It promises to place young adults (18-30) in paid one-year "community leadership" positions with nonprofit or government agencies. They'll also be required to attend weekly training workshops and three retreats. . .

But its real mission is to radicalize American youth and use them to bring about "social change" through threats, pressure, tension and confrontation — the tactics used by the father of community organizing, Saul "The Red" Alinsky. . .

Public Allies promotes "diversity and inclusion," a program paper says. More than 70% of its recruits are "people of color." . . .

The Obamas discourage work in the private sector. "Don't go into corporate America," Michelle has exhorted youth. "Work for the community. Be social workers." Shun the "money culture," Barack added. "Individual salvation depends on collective salvation." . . .

It's a lot of talk about race, a lot of talk about sexism, a lot of talk about homophobia, talk about -isms and phobias."

One of those -isms is "heterosexism," which a Public Allies training seminar in Chicago describes as a negative byproduct of "capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy and male-dominated privilege."

The government now funds about half of Public Allies' expenses through Clinton's AmeriCorps. Obama wants to fully fund it and expand it into a national program that some see costing $500 billion.

Here’s a link to Public Allies. Please note that P.A. has a public face as clean as a whistle and as American as apple pie.

Killing the God Who Isn’t Against White People – Jeremiah Wright’s Theology

UPDATE
h/p to Susan at Wake up America for a link to the transcript. If you prefer to read rather than watch, the full transcript is below the video. I've pulled this quote out of for posterity:
Quote, "Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill gods who do not belong to the black community. Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in black power which is the power of black people to destroy their opinion pressers here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love."
Take a look into Barack Obama's Pastor's theology, which he, Jeremiah Wright, so proudly professes. Thank you to netstepinc and YouTube

How Radical is Obama`s Pastor?; Supreme Court Hears Second Amendment Case; Millionaire Bails out Hundreds of Illegals

Aired March 19, 2008 - 19:00:00 ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE) GLENN BECK, HOST (voice-over): Tonight more fallout from Obama`s controversial speech about his former pastor. Does Jeremiah Wright believe in what`s called a black liberation theology? How radical is that school of thought? Plus a big wig from Boston spends $200,000 to bail out illegals swept up in raids. Is he a hero or a villain? See if you can guess what I think. And it`s been five years since the war in Iraq began, and except for today, the media has largely ignored the story lately. But the reason they`ve been ignoring the war is actually good. And I`ll explain. All this and more tonight. (END VIDEOTAPE) BECK: Well, hello, America. After Barack Obama`s speech yesterday on the racially charged anti- American comments of his former pastor, Jeremiah Wright, the liberal media held a pity party: "Oh, poor Barack, he`s just got a crazy grandpa. And don`t we all have a crazy grandpa?" No. Here`s "The Point" tonight. Reverend Jeremiah Wright is much more dangerous than any crazy grandpa any of us might have had. The foundation of Wright`s beliefs are rooted in the theological tradition based in hate, intolerance and racial black nationalism. Here`s how I got there. I told you just last week that I wouldn`t give any platform to any slinging of any mud for any candidate or any party. And I feel I am keeping my word on this. I am not piling on Obama due to the comments of his former pastor. What I`m doing, and what I think is important that we all do, is shine a light on Barack`s past. We don`t know, really, who this guy is. We have to kind of piece it together, not only by what he says in the present, but what he has done in the past. Who is Barack Obama? Who has built his foundation? So what did Barack do in the last 20 years? Well, he`s -- one thing, sat in one of the pews of the Trinity United Church of Christ and listened to Reverend Wright`s sermons. He says he counts Wright as a member of his family and his senior spiritual adviser. OK. If that`s true, then I think it`s fair that we find out who Wright is and what he believes. In the talking points page of the Trinity church`s Web site, Reverend Wright, in his own words, states that the foundation of his beliefs are in systemized black liberation theology and praises James Cone`s book, "Black Power and Black Theology." This is what James Cone, the man who Obama`s senior spiritual advisor looks up to and whose ideas he preaches, states as black liberation theology. Listen carefully and please follow along. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love." Wow, America, here is what you need to know tonight. The man who wrote those words contributed to the foundation of Reverend Jeremiah Wright`s ministry. Barack Obama has been Fed a steady diet of those teachings for 20 years. He sat in the pew every Sunday, soaking it in. He never denounced or rejected the Reverend`s beliefs until it was politically advantageous. So do we believe 20 years of evidence or a 20-minute speech? Forget about me. I want to ask you the question: is this the kind of man you want to have access to the most powerful man on earth? Ken Blackwell is a senior fellow for family empowerment of the Family Research Council. And Ramesh Ponnuru is the "TIME" columnist and senior editor for "The National Review". Ramesh, let me start with you. "Newsweek" called a couple of dozen prominent African-American pastors and asked them how out of step is Jeremiah Wright with what they see coming across the country? What did they find? RAMESH PONNURU, "TIME"/"NATIONAL REVIEW": Well, they found that not one of their experts was willing to say that the Reverend Wright had crossed any kind of significant line. They were saying that this sort of stuff is firmly within the mainstream of the churches that they`re talking about, not that all churches are like this but that a lot were. BECK: OK. Here`s what I don`t understand, Ramesh. Is I`m reading the editorials. I read four papers today. You can`t find an editorial in a mainstream paper today that says anything but that Barack Obama was brave, et cetera, et cetera. This is poison. This would destroy anybody else`s career. How is this just being dismissed? PONNURU: Well, partly it`s because, for some of his fans among liberals and in the press, Barack Obama can`t sneeze without it being called eloquence. Partly it`s because he managed very skillfully to change the subject. The question you`ve been talking about I think is the right question, which is what does his association, his tight and longstanding association with the Reverend Wright say about him, his beliefs and his judgment? Instead, he made it all about this grand canvas of race relations in this country. BECK: Right. PONNURU: So it`s not about his judgment. It`s about all of us, the moral test is of us, not of him. BECK: OK. Ken, I wanted to have you on, because you were a former U.N. ambassador -- U.S. ambassador at the U.N. And you have seen this black liberation philosophy or theology before. Explain. I think this is even more frightening than the stuff that I`ve already read on television. Explain what you`ve seen. KEN BLACKWELL, FAMILY RESEARCH COUNCIL: Essentially, liberation theology took root in Africa and Central America. It was often offered up by Marxist regimes that knew that they couldn`t uproot the church, so they tried to weaken the doctrine of the church. So it is an alternative doctrine of the church that embraces big government. It advances a collectivist ideal and idea, and it says the state, not the individual is central to society. And that is very disquieting. But it also gives you a better understanding of the under-girding of Senator Obama`s big-government, liberal philosophy that would increase spending, increase taxes, weaken our military and our position in the world. BECK: I`ll tell you, it explains the comments of his wife. It explains -- you`re exactly right, his big-government ideas. If you understand what this theology is, you do begin to understand Barack Obama, but it is in a -- I believe in a frightening way. However, I`m being labeled the one that`s the hate-monger for asking these questions. How is this theology out there and it not be labeled racist and hate-mongering? BLACKWELL: Well, it`s part of a series, of parts. Here`s a guy who says that he studied the doctrine of Saul Alinsky, who was an anarchist, a radical. Here is a guy who basically said that, while he was in Reverend Wright`s church, he embraces Louis Farrakhan. The fact is that nobody has elevated this beyond his race. He can speak eloquently on race and moving towards a color-blind society, but what he can`t speak to is how he got there going to a color-conscious theology and how he got there by embracing, I think, a position that was really radical and antithetical to this whole notion of God as being central to our nation and the individual as being primary. BECK: Ramesh, do you think, if I had -- if I had a gun to your head and made you make a prediction, lay your last thousand dollars on the table and make a bet, does this just tighten Barack Obama`s core, and I think tear us apart even more, make us -- you know, pretty much guarantee 1968? Or does this -- does this -- does he get away with it? Does it -- does it do anything to anybody in the end? PONNURU: I think Obama -- you know, we`ve heard a lot of people say, oh, he threaded the needle. And that`s true except for one factor. He may be getting through the primaries this way. But unfortunately, there`s also a general election. And I`m not sure that this kind of double talk, where he sort of says he`s not excusing the Reverend Wright and his anti-American comments and then gives seven paragraphs of excuses for it, is going to work with the general electorate. I they they`re fooling themselves. BECK: I have to tell you, I have more respect for Democrats than this. I don`t think Democrats are -- are in line in Reverend Wright at all. Ken, Ramesh, thank you very much. NOTE FROM MAGGIE'S NOTEBOOK: At this point the Jeremiah Wright and Barack Obama conversation ends. Beck goes on to discuss Iraq, Ban on Guns, Illegal Aliens, and The Economy and Rising Energy Costs. Posted by Maggie Linked by:
