Glenn Beck Medical Testing for Scary Symptoms

Glenn Beck announced this morning on his radio show that he will spend two days in-hospital for doctors to try to figure out why he is losing feeling in his hands and feet, and has tingling in those areas which is moving up his arms, as well as problems with his vocal chords. See videos below.

Beck is asking for prayers for "clarity," and says he believes mental and spiritual issues affect physical conditions. Glenn says that he is reaching out of the "slime" and is "pulling himself out." He says he is in a "transition period," and this is not about "depression." I have noticed that increasingly, he is more heavy-hearted on his television show. He is fighting a battle with eye disease, and has indeed, been immersed in the "slime" coming out of Barack Obama's administration - as well as tracing back the "slime" in past administrations. Carson-Gore Academy Toxic: Carson-Gore Academy of Environmental Sciences Built on Toxic Dirt

The Carson-Gore Academy of Environmental Sciences is scheduled to receive 675 high school students on September 13th, 2010 in the Arlington Heights area of Los Angeles. But...the monument school named after Rachel Carson and Al Gore has been built on "toxic" dirt. The $75 million school "naming" committee chose "Carson-Gore" to first honor Rachel Carson, the killer of millions of African babies after successfully getting DDT banned almost world-wide, and the former Vice-President and author Al Gore, who has worked feverishly to murder the America economy and steal the wallets of all Americans through his "green" initiatives. After cleaning up the toxic dirt under the school, if that's possible, Gore and Carson will remain toxic to humans. Do we have any doubt that the teachers at this "academy" will be toxic to our children?

This LA Times article says construction workers worked "up to" the Labor Day weekend replacing the toxic dirt from two 3,800 square-foot plots - to a depth of 45 feet - enough to hold a four-story building. It is unclear whether the building has now been deemed safe. The school principal plans to install an organic food garden, but the seeds will not be sown in above-ground planters.

In the spring, a school-naming committee received six options, including Pete Seeger Community School. A representative from school board member Marguerite suggested that the folk singer’s “affiliation with the Communist Party among other factors, made that choice inappropriate, two in attendance recalled.

Aside from naming a school after Carson and Gore, what's up with a $75 million school in a state on the verge of bankruptcy with a governor begging the fed to bail him out?

Peter King Anthony Weiner: The Real Story of the Failure of the James Zadroga Act

Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) showed his backside on the floor of the House and surprise, surprise, the cameras were rolling. The video quickly went viral, but King's comments have gotten nada attention.  Congressman Peter King was the symbolic target of all of Weiner's pent-up Democrat angst wrath. King should be proud to have drawn the worm out of the apple for all the world to see. King was the grown-up and he was telling the awful truth. See two videos below.

Carol at No Sheeples Here produced the King video you'll see below. King speaks just before Weiner meltdowns. King is addressing the poor decision to pass the legislation with a two-thirds vote to avoid a vote on granting benefits to illegals -a fact which is moving around the blogosphere under the radar.

And there is another side of the story. Carol has the campaign contributions from entities with interest in the Trade Towers to...who else but some of the co-sponsors of the failed legislation, and numerous other Democrats. Two of the co-sponsors received multiple thousands and two a tidy sum.

Had the legislation been allowed to pass with a simple majority vote, Republicans would have tried to amend the bill to take out funds going to illegal migrants. Democrats then, either had to vote to exclude them from the bill or keep them in the bill. Either way, not a good option for the Party of Amnesty. Note that in the video, King says Republicans were not included in writing the bill. So the observation is: illegals should have NEVER been included to receive taxpayer's monies.  This makes arrogant Weiner's little act even more fraudulent.

Senate Parliamentarian Rules Obama Must Sign Health Care before Rule Changes or Reconciliation

The Senate Parliamentarian has a new ruling out today and it's an important one. President Obama must sign a health care bill before the Senate can act on a reconciliation package to fix the problems the House has with the Senate legislation. Once Obama signs the bill, it is law, and the House no longer has assurance that the items they want reconciled, will be reconciled.

The word from the Senate Parliamentarian, Senator Kent Conrad (D-ND), was reportedly passed to Republicans verbally, and what if Republicans are lying, muses one online site:

Now, it's certainly possible that Senate Republicans are lying about this -- they're not exactly a truth-oriented bunch... Source: Washington Monthly

Senator Conrad's advice, to Republicans, if true, is consistent with his previous statements, and it is not good news for House Democrats who had had devised two incredible machinations - and who would think either could be legal?

(1) In the House, a process called Hold-plus-reconciliation, which meant the House would pass the Christmas Eve Senate bill but hold the bill, without sending it to the President for his signature, thus holding the Senate hostage to accepting changes the House needed to make the legislation palatable to its members.

(2) The Slaughter process: The House would create their own package of changes to the Senate bill, then skip a roll call vote to approve the Senate bill, attach their own package and call it a piece of legislation - without ever passing the Senate bill. Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY), the Chair of the House Rules Committee is reportedly creating this new rule, which essentially says the unpassed Senate bill is "deemed passed."

If the Senate Parliamentarian holds that the Senate bill must be passed as a piece of legislation, and first signed by the president, before changes can be made, then neither of the two options above would be valid, as well they should not be.

Another stumbling block to those opposed to the bill is Joe Biden, who has the power to overrule the Senate parliamentarian, although that has not been done since Hubert Humphrey. If Biden should overrule the parliamentarian, the ruling can be appealed and the appeal is decided by majority vote (which doesn't offer much hope for the opposition).

This does not mean that reconciliation cannot be managed after the Senate bill is signed into law, but it's an uphill climb to get House members specifically opposed to federal funding of abortion, to trust that the Senate will actually make the changes. It's not over, but the Conrade ruling is a positive turn.

Alzheimers Eye Test: Alzheimers Detected 20 Years Out

The British will have a routine eye test in the next 3 years that will screen for early signs of Alzheimers. It is believed the disease can be detected 20 years before symptoms are noticeable. The test is inexpensive and, at middle age, can be a part of a routine eye exam:

The technique, being pioneered at University College London, could also speed up the development of medication capable of stopping the disease in its tracks, preventing people from ever showing symptoms.

Weight Watchers Weigh-in Floor Collapses

A Weight Watcher meeting was underway in Vaxjo, Sweden when a rumble was heard, then a thud and "everything flew up in the air." The floor collapsed, first in one corner, then around the walls, and then other sections began caving in. Everyone at the meeting made it out of the room with out injury, including the scale which was moved to a hallway where the weigh-in continued.

Tiger Woods Anthony Galea: Tiger Woods Human Growth Hormones? Gales Denies Treating Tiger with PED

Tiger Woods is alleged to have been treated by Canadian doctor, Anthony Galea. Galea is under arrest in Toronto. Dr. Galea is under a Performing Enhancing Drugs (PED) probe, but there is no evidence that Tiger Woods received such drugs from Anthony Galea.

Dr. Galea's assistant was stopped at the U.S.-Canadian border. It is alleged that she had the doctor's medical bag in her possession and in that bag, Actovegin, a human growth hormone, banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency, was found. Using or selling the drug in the U.S. is illegal.

Dr. Galea reportedly told The New York Times that Woods' management group, International Management Group (IMG) referred Woods to Galea because Tiger's knee was taking to long to rehabilitate. Woods' agent at IMG, Mark Steinberg, said:

"The New York Times is flat wrong, no one at IMG has ever met or recommended Dr. Galea, nor were we worried about the progress of Tiger's recovers, as the Times falsely reported."

Steinberg sent this email to the NYT:

"I would really ask that you guys don't write this? If Tiger is NOT implicated, and won't be, let's please give the kid a break."

 PGA officials said they have read nothing about the Galea story that leads them to believe Tiger Woods violated the anti-doping policy.

Galea is said to have visited Tiger's Florida home four times, beginning in February 2009, and his treatment of the golf legend was a "platelet-rich plasma therapy" that had nothing to do with Human Growth Hormones (HGH), although the doctor, himself, used HGH for 10 years. Galea says he has never treated any athlete with HGH or Actovegin.

Rom Houben Coma not a Coma: Steven Laureys is Rom Houbens Doctor

Rom Houben is a Belgium man who was completely paralyzed after an auto accident when he was 23 years old. Houben was believed to be in a vegetative state, but he was completely conscious and heard every word said around him. See update and new video below.

Houben is now 46 years old and this unbelievable story has just been released. After years of utilizing the "the internationally accepted Glasgow Coma Scale," and misdiagnosing Mr. Houben, "hi-tech scans" showed that this brain was still functioning almost completely normally."

Only a re-evaluation of his case at the University of Liege discovered that he had lost control of his body but was still fully aware of what was happening.

He is never likely to leave hospital, but as well as his computer he now has a special device above his bed which lets him read books while lying down.

For 23 years, Houben could not indicate to family, friends or doctors that he could hear every word they were saying. With therapy, once he was accurately diagnosed, he was able to progress to tapping out messages on a computer screen. Just think what computers were like 23 years ago.

'I want to read, talk with my friends via the computer and enjoy my life now that people know I am not dead.'

Mr Houben said: 'All that time I just literally dreamed of a better life. Frustration is too small a word to describe what I felt.'

Dr Laureys's new study claims that patients classed as in a vegetative state are often misdiagnosed.

'Anyone who bears the stamp of "unconscious" just one time hardly ever gets rid of it again,' he said....

...an estimated 3,000 to 5,000 people a year remain trapped in an intermediate stage - they go on living without ever coming back again.'

A story like this makes me think of Terry Schiavo, whose family fought a bitter and years long battle with Schiavo's husband and guardian, Michael Schiavo. Terry's family believed she was conscious. Michael wanted her removed from the feeding tube. He eventually won, and Terry died of dehydration 13 days later. I have some measured amount of empathy for Michael Schiavo in this matter, and full and complete sympathy for Terry's parents. I would never want to stay alive because of a feeding tube, and I can see removing it when there is no hope of brain activity, but I will never understand letting anyone die of dehydration. I wonder how ObamaCare would handle a case like this?

Rom Houben's case should have physicians throughout the world reevaluating their comatose patients. In the meantime, I say Mr. Houben should have everything his heart desires, and I look forward to the inevitable interviews that are sure to be on newsstands soon. In the new video below, you'll see a "facilitator" assisting Mr. Houben as he or she types a message into his computer.

Update: A reader, Yogarine, led me to this article, questioning "facilitated communication," and whether Houben or his assistant is actually doing the typing. If you watch to the end of the video, you will see a close up of Mr. Houben's hand, and it seems apparent that Houben cannot move his finger, and probably cannot "lead" the facilitator.

This man in the msnbc.com piece is not seeing the screen. He is not aware of what is going on. He is an unknowing victim of these charlatans. A simple test - such as that done on October 19^th, 1993, in a Frontline (PBS) documentary highlighting these concerns, "Prisoners of Silence," would prove that FC is a total fraud.  This powerful and comprehensive program proved that FC was a delusion.

Brain Scans Justify Time Online: Get Online - Brain Activity Improves in One Week

Good news for those of us who spend far too much time on the internet. Brain scans have justified time online by showing that brain activity increases, which leads to the likely conclusion that brain atrophy slows or possibly stops.

This FOX News article reports a UCLA study that compared a small sampling of 24 persons, between the ages of 55 and 78, divided into two groups with similar ages and genders in both groups. One group were experienced in daily internet use prior to the study, and the second group had little experiece online.

Adults with little Internet experience show changes in their brain activity after just one week online, a new study finds.

The results suggest internet training can stimulate neural activation patterns and could potentially enhance brain function and cognition in older adults.

As the brain ages a number of structural and functional changes occur, including atrophy, or decay, reductions in cell activity and increases in complex things like deposits of amyloid plaques and tau tangles, which can impact cognitive function.

 Even in UCLA studies previous to this one, they found that "searching online resulted in a more than twofold increase in brain activation in older adults...." The good news is, whether younger than 55 or older than 55, online searches stimulate the brain. I assume, however, that some sources for brain stimulation are other better than others - just guessing.

UCLA's Dr. Gary Small, the author of this study and a professor of psychiatry at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at UCLA said:

We found that for older people with minimal experience, performing internet searches for even a relatively short period of time can change brain activity patterns and enhance function...
