Obama Angry and Evil-Eyed: Obama Gives AIDS Hecklers A Finger: AIDs Treatment Progress?

An angry Obama faced unhappy AIDs activists when they heckled him at his Massachusetts speech for Governor Deval Patrick yesterday. Did the evil-eyed pic come from that rally or his appearance in Ohio, or neither? He appears to be dressed the same at each event. Scary photos. Eyes are the windows to the soul. Ewwwwe!

Barack Obama

The $50 billion over 5 years the administration targeted for AIDS has apparently not begun flowing. Wearing white T-shirts with "Keep the Promise" emblazoned across the chest, they stirred things up a bit. Is this where the camera caught glimpses of a angry, evil-eyed Obama, as he points and yells at the hecklers? True to character, Obama blamed the lack of AIDs funding on Republicans and their fight to keep the Bush tax cuts. Never mind that $50 billion is about a 235% hike in funding over that of Bush, and our Treasury is empty these days.

Barack Obama

President Bush set the gold standard for the World by pledging $15 billion over a five year period for the fight against AIDS. By Fall of 2007, Antiretroviral treatment (ART) had been dispensed to 1.5 million people. One billion of the $15 billion went to something called the "Global Fund."

Then Obama ascends and wants $50 billion. Did I mention that we are a bankrupt Nation? But the Democrats come to the rescue and fire up the printing press. We still have no money. All cash hot off the press has already been spent from here to my eternity.

Shamelessly, he told the eager crowd and the hecklers that Republicans, if elected, will "cut aids funding right here in the United States of America and all across the world."

I have great empathy for anyone suffering from AIDs, empathy for their agony, for their children and families. Having said that,  I do not have empathy for repeatedly spending money on causes when at-risk patients or potential patients do not co-operate. Those potential patients in this case include unmarrieds having unprotected sex and refusing to participate in routine testing, and having unprotected sex with multiple partners whether they accept testing or not. At-risk pregnant Mothers, rape victims (whether male or female) and all children are exempted from my wrath.

This report dated March 2010 says HIV infections are rising among homosexuals, drug users and prostitutes.

An undated government report discussing goals for 2010 seemed to be delivering good news about the spread of AIDs, but as is often the case with government documents, you have to read every word, and get to the bottom of the page before you find this:
Objectives that could not be assessed. Data to assess progress toward their targets were not available for new HIV/AIDS cases (13-5), condom use among sexually active unmarried males (13-6b), testing according to guidelines (13-13a and b), HIV diagnosis prior to AIDS (13-15), perinatally acquired HIV/AIDS (13-17a), and heterosexually transmitted HIV/AIDS in women (13-18).
This interesting report by Matthew Hanley in June 2010 says the "Western approach" to AIDs prevention in Africa has failed. But...a few African countries have cut the incidence of HIV-AIDs by their governments working with the population to doing one thing: changd behavior and cut out multiple partners. Uganda and Kenya have both seen great success from reduced partners. But those grubbing the money to fund their condom project, are blind, deaf and decidedly dumb:
These successes and failures are, tellingly, too often treated in a manner inversely proportional to their merits. Behavior change, though responsible for success, remains the least emphasized approach, while risk reduction invariably receives the benefit of the doubt despite its failure to deliver as promised. Its disappointing results always mean that efforts—along with funding—must simply be doubled.
Many in the AIDS Establishment will only unreservedly applaud success if it comes through the technical means promoted by Western governments and activist groups. In a 2005 PBS documentary, UNAIDS’ executive director Dr. Piot refused to concede that behavior change played the paramount role in Uganda’s unparalleled success. “But we also know,” he added, “that no country has been successful in bringing down the number of new infections of HIV without strong condom promotion.”
Who would have thought - simply refraining from sleeping around might save your life. So, maybe it's all about the money.

Obama increased George W. Bush's unprecedented HIV-AIDs funding of $15 billion by 235%. This big spender needs to be stopped in his tracks, as well as think about how Americans might feel when we see the dark and dangerous, angry and evil-looking eyes of our President.

Avastin Meets Death Panel

Avastin is a drug therapy for "advanced" Stage IV breast cancer patients. Approximately 17,500 women in the U.S. are on Avastin.  Being brutally honest here, the FDA believes the drug is too expensive to be dispensed to women who will die anyway, and are considering rescinding it from their drug approval list. The medical community is divided on the effectiveness of the drug. Some believe the toxicity is not worth the results, others see good results in their patients. A look around the InterWeb shows that some insurance companies have already stopped the treatment, and I also see patients who have been on the drug for two years and are doing extremely well. Read a patient's statement below.

Avastin

Before getting to the story, let's revisit Obama's close friend and adviser, Ezekiel Emanuel, the brother of Rahm Emanuel. Ezekiel is an advocate of discontinuing care to patients who will never make a full recovery:
Savings, Emanuel writes, will require changing how doctors think about their patients: Doctors take the Hippocratic Oath too seriously, "as an imperative to do everything for the patient regardless of the cost or effects on others" (Journal of the American Medical Association, June 18, 2008).

ObamaKare is gearing up. Where can the FDA and insurers find savings? By de-certifying drugs for patients considered to be on a terminal list, or soon to be. Who is making these decisions. Well, that's easy, people with "influence," of course, also know as a Death Panel:
The Food and Drug Administration is reviewing the recommendation of influential scientific advisers to revoke authorization of the drug to treat metastatic breast cancer. Contrary to initial research, new studies indicate that the benefits of the drug, which costs $8,000 a month, do not outweigh its risks, the advisory panel concluded.
Avastin is not only prescribed for treating breast cancer. It has proved to be effective for other cancers. Look at this odd statement:

Avastin is approved for use in treating several cancers, including those of the colon, lung, kidney and brain. So doctors could continue to write prescriptions for it for breast cancer, as an "off-label" use.
But in addition to prompting insurers including Medicare to stop paying for Avastin, an FDA revocation of approval for its use in breast cancer treatment might mean that breast cancer patients would lose eligibility for a program in which Genentech caps the annual cost of the drug at $57,000 for women with annual incomes of less than $100,000.
Does this mean people suffering from of the other cancer can continue to receive Avastin, and only breast cancer patients would be denied? The answer is 'yes.' Apparently, the toxicity does not affect cancers other than breast cancer. Do we really believe that? This is a death panel issue. Mentioned above is the idea of making Avastin available for breast cancer treatment for "off-label use," meaning you can get have it you can pay for it.
As reported by The Wall Street Journal in July, "an FDA advisory panel voted 12-1 to remove the breast cancer indication from the drug's label. If the FDA follows the advice of its committee - as it often does - the drug could still be marketed to treat colon, lung and other cancers."
Medical sources are divided on the success rendered versus the harm caused. Some believe the drug should have never been approved. Here is one success story, and Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute stand behind the drug's good performance:
"I'm very upset," said Leslie Twohig, 48, of Lothian, Md., who has been taking Avastin for eight months and credits the drug with helping her survive. "How long will I be able to stay on Avastin? Are they going to take it away? I know it's working for me. Right now I am able to enjoy my life. Every morning I wake up and wonder how long it's going to go on."
"I am very concerned about people who are receiving the drug and may feel threatened that they may not be able to receive it," said the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Winer, who is also chief scientific officer for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a breast cancer patient advocacy group. "This is not a worthless drug by any means. There is almost certainly a group of women who get a big benefit. "
Some members of Congress have written protest letters to the FDA and the Department of Health and Human Services. Senator David Vitter (R-LA) says he fears this is the beginning of "a slippery slope leading to more and more rationing under the government takeover of health care that is being forced on the American people."

Wealthier patients who can pay the $4000-$10,000 per month for the drug will probably live longer and have far less pain than the patient without an option for Avastin .

HIV or Abortion Makes Your Medical Records Private

by The Lonely Conservative

Here's a big shocker! The government wants your Body Mass Index in their electronic health record. But if you're HIV positive or you've had an abortion, your records are sealed!

In an interview videotaped on Capitol Hill on Tuesday, CNSNews.com asked [David] Blumenthal whether abortions and HIV tests must be included in an EHR, as the new regulations, on their face, seem to suggest. “The regulations that came out state that hospitals and doctors have to provide problems lists, medications [lists], diagnostic test results, copies of those things in the electronic health record," said CNSNews.com. "Does that mean that a test result like, say, an HIV test or a procedure like an abortion would have to go on an electronic health record” Blumenthal said, “Any specific information recorded in the record is an issue between the doctor and the patient, not an issue that this regulation specifies.”
Some people's medical records are more private than others. Welcome to Animal Farm! I feel like I should go have a fake abortion just to protect my privacy.

Glenn Beck Macular Dystrophy: Glenn Beck Losing Sight?

Yesterday, Beck aired a short segment with him telling a crowd he might be losing his sight. When the clip was over Beck did not explain. Many have been wondering about it. Now we understand that Glenn has Macular Dystrophy and could lose his sight. See a video below.

Glenn Beck

According to The Epoch Times the Macular Dystrophy is a degenerative disease that causes the eyes to lose sharp central vision - the sight that allows us to see faces clearly, drive and read.
"He said, 'You have macular dystrophy. ... You could go blind in the next year. Or, you might not,” Beck said. He wept, but also made jokes about his diagnosis. He is known for frequently weeping on his show.
“I said, ‘Did you just charge me a thousand dollars for knowing what I already knew my whole life?’ I think we know that at three! ‘You might go blind someday. You might not.’”
Macular Dystrophy is not a common disease. There is a form that makes itself known in the first 10 years of life, with vision possibly "significantly reduced" by age 20-40. The adult onset becomes known in midlife. From what I'm reading the adult onset may not cause blindness, or it may, as Glenn has said.

The ugliness has already started on the Internet. I won't quote them. In the video below, Glenn tells the story. It begins about 6:22 minutes in. Many of us will praying for you Glenn.

Taliban HIV Bombs: HIV Needles Hidden in Bombs in Afghanistan

That deep religious nature of Islam is showing itself once again. Afghanistan Taliban are planting HIV infected needles with their IED's. Think about it, where are they getting the HIV virus to dirty-up the needles? You can't place an order for a quantity of HIV virus. There are also warnings about hepatitis, and infected razor blades. See a video below.

Brit Captain Wayne Owers Dismantles Bomb in Helmand Province

This report is coming from The Sun UK and speaks of British soldiers finding these bombs, but it surely also affects U.S. soldiers. God bless these men and women doing this terrifying work:
Hypodermic syringes are hidden below the surface pointing upwards to prick bomb squad experts as they hunt for devices.
The heroin needles are feared to be contaminated with hepatitis and HIV. And if the bomb goes off, the needles become deadly flying shrapnel.
Apparently we have a cadre of sick and HIV infected Taliban, or are towns people showing up to donate their dirty heroin needles?

There is this report also coming via the UK's Independent, dateline May 25th, 2010, saying Taliban bombs are now being detonated, rather than dismantled.
The move represents a shift in policy to try to alleviate the pressure on operatives...four of whom have been Killed in just over a year in Helmand.
Infected needles are not mentioned in the Independent report.

Kiera Echols Neurological Nightmare - A New Kind of Encephalitis - a Tiny Tumor with Eyeballs and Feet

Kiera Echols, a perfectly normal young woman went through hell, and she remembers some of it today. She had massive headaches, saw goblins and children, remembers being in hell - literally, and she wanted a exorcist. Echols was diagnosed with a rare form of Encephalitis, only discovered in 2000...and a tiny turmor, a Teratoma, too small to be seen on CT scans, on an ovary. How weird is this? Teratomas are capable of having "eyeballs or tiny feet." See a video below.

Surgery and treatment for the Encephalitis have Kiera almost back to normal. Her husband, Mike, is in the Air Force and was in basic training at the time of her diagnosis.  How many women have been institutionalized or died, how rare is it to have both at the same time?

The following video shows Ms. Echols in the grip of her attacks, as well as today. The film has been entered in the 2010 Neuro Film Festival.

Obama Doctor: Moderate Alcohol Intake Recommended

So, does Barack Obama need to "moderate" his alcohol intake?

The President has not quit smoking, as he promised Michelle he would do. His doctor said Obama is using "nicotine replacement therapy, self-use" to help him stop smoking. All those White House parties - smokers find it difficult to drink and not smoke, so...

His health was described as excellent and he does not have to return for another medical until 2012. Obama, who is 48, has 20-20 vision, weighs 179 llbs in his shoes and clothes, and requires little medication. Apart from the nicotine replacement, he uses a non-steroid anti-inflammatory medication associated with physical activity: he regularly plays basketball at the White House.
The doctors also recommended "moderation of alcohol intake".
If a person is capable of being the president of the United States, that person should be disciplined enough to quit smoking. This president is very disciplined in some areas, mainly doing what he wants to do, when he wants to do it. So what do you think about the recommendation to "moderate alcohol intake?"

Chris Lust US Soldier with Rare Disease Endemic to Haiti: Soldier Returns from Haiti with Rare Leptospirosis

U.S. Army Warrant Officer Chris Lust was serving in Port-au-Prince, Haiti distributing food to victims when he because ill. Lust was immediately sent to the U.S. Navy ship, Comfort, off the shores of Haiti, and then to a Tampa Veterans Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a rare disease endemic to Haiti, Leptospirosis.

Warrant Officer Chris Lust

Leptospirosis is characterized as a "rare and severe bacterial infection. It is also known as Well's disease. It is rarely found in humans, but infects dogs reptiles, mammals, birds and amphibians. The disease is believed to be transmitted by animal urine to humans through a break in the skin, the eyes and the mucous membranes.
The WHO reports infection in humans may occur when the bacteria come into contact with the skin, typically through contact with unclean water that has been infected by animals.

"It’s kind of like they’re writing a blank check when they go into these places and it might cost them their life," said Lorilei Lust, Chris' mother.
His mother says he has suffered seizure-like symptoms, painful headaches, fevers spiking as high as 105 degrees, and extreme body aches. He was in the hospital's I.C.U. until Saturday, February 20th. As soon as he is physically able to be transferred, he will be moved to San Antonio for follow-up care.

The U.S. Military is not commenting on Lust, or the possibility of other soldiers stricken with Lpetospirosis.

Alzheimers Eye Test: Alzheimers Detected 20 Years Out

The British will have a routine eye test in the next 3 years that will screen for early signs of Alzheimers. It is believed the disease can be detected 20 years before symptoms are noticeable. The test is inexpensive and, at middle age, can be a part of a routine eye exam:

The technique, being pioneered at University College London, could also speed up the development of medication capable of stopping the disease in its tracks, preventing people from ever showing symptoms.

George Miller Paid Sick Leave Law: Democrats Tromp Business and Liberty

This week, a new federal law was introduced. If it becomes law, and if your employer sends you and your H1N1 home, he must also pay your salary for up to five days. But it is apparent that Rep. George Miller (D-CA) plans to go farther than just H1N1 with this legislation as the first step.

George Miller

In fact, if passed, your employer must pay for your time off for the swine flu AND any "other infectious disease," according to George Miller (D-CA), the chair of the U.S. House Education and Labor Committee.
Sick workers advised to stay home by their employers shouldn't have to choose between their livelihood, and their co-workers' or customers' health," Miller said.

"This will not only protect employees, but it will save employers money by ensuring that sick employees don't spread infection to co-workers and customers, and will relieve the financial burden on our health system swamped by those suffering from H1N1."
I believe many employers would rather pay an employee to stay home with H1N1, as a less expensive option to spreading the virus around the workplace, but it should be the employer's choice.

The bill will be heard the week of November 16th and Miller hopes to have a full vote soon. Paid sick leave for "infectious" diseases is just the first step to legislated paid sick leave, all the time, every time:
Miller said at least 50 million American workers are not paid for time taken off sick, "many in lower-wage jobs that have direct contact with the public such as the food-service and hospitality industry, schools and health care fields."

Foot of Big Brother

Today, paid sick leave is not mandatory under U.S. law today. The above quote tells us what is coming. Call, email, and write your Congressman. Find your Representative here. This is one more case of Big Brother tromping its exquisite Testonis all over liberty.

Hygiene and Hijabs: CAIR Hijab in Medical Facilities?

A Muslim female doctor contacted CAIR to plead her case for wearing a hijab while working in a medical facility.

Hijab

The unnamed doctor apparently living in Texas was informed in a job interview with CareNow, that the facility has a "no hat" policy. Naturally, the doctor thinks that has nothing to do with her hijab.
Being that I wear a head scarf to cover my hair as part of my religious practice, I felt very discriminated against.
CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations) has quoted the Civil Rights Act of 1964 in a letter to CareNow, but this has nothing to do with civil rights. It has everything to do with hygiene and security.

Britain has been fighting this battle for some time now. Women working at Liverpool's Alder Hey children's hospital did not want to "wash up" in the prescribed, and long-held necessary procedure because their forearms would be exposed. The hospital would make no exceptions in this critical matter.

There is no place in sterile environments for hijabs, burqas and unwashed forearms.

We'll see how this turns out. CAIR undoubtedly will use taxpayer money, through their tax exempt, non-profit status, to sue CareNow in Texas. Can we keep hijabs out of medicine?

Sperm donor passes on fatal heart defect to nine children

A possibly fatal, genetic heart defect has been passed on to nine of the 24 children a sperm donor "fathered.'

This report is said to be from a "medical journal report." One child died from heart failure at the age of 2. Two teenagers have "developed systems and are at risk for sudden cardiac arrest," and one was implanted with a defibrillator.

It is the second documented instance of a genetic condition being inherited through sperm donation. The children are said to range in age from 7 to 16, one  born to the donor's wife.

Symptoms can include an irregular heartbeat and shortness of breath but many cases go undetected until sudden death. The condition is often the culprit when young athletes collapse and die suddenly. Treatment includes medication and an implanted defibrillator to prevent sudden death.
The donor is now 42 years old, has not been identified and had no symptoms of the disease known as Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, when he donated his sperm in the early 1990's. The donor's condition was not diagnosed until after one of his children was born with the disease.

I understand that sperm donors enable loving people to have a child of their own. I'm sure most of these children are greatly blessed by their parents, but...there are so many complications, and when one occurs, it is usually awful. Maybe some of us should not have children. Not because we would not be a good parent, but because we cannot have a child without a spousal donor. My apologies to all the wonderful children enjoying a fine life and contributing to the world in a fine way. We are blessed to have you.

Health Care Workers Protest Vaccine: Health Care Workers Job Threat

New York State is mandating that all health care workers receive the vaccine for the H1N1. Health Care workers have been threatened with job loss if they do not consent to receiving the vaccine. Get the shot or lose your job. Protests were held today in Hauppauge, New York: "No forced shots! they changed.

I don't even tend to the sick. I am in the nutrition field. They are telling me I must get the shot because I work in a health clinic setting," said Paula Small, a Women, Infants and Children health care worker. Small said she will refuse, worried the vaccine is untested and unproven, leaving her vulnerable. In 1976, there were some deaths associated with a swine flu vaccination.
A nurse, Frank Mannino said he is willing to lose his job. "I will not take, will not be forced. This is still America. Albany had "hundreds" in the streets demanding "freedom of choice." Stony Brook University Hospital said it is committed to "the mandate" to vaccinate personnel. State mandates? Federal mandates? Being "forced" to follow government orders is in our future. So I say to these protesters: Good for you. Now go to a Tea Party.

DDT, Delta Smelt, Americas Water: Glen Beck Carrie Underwood Video

Glen Beck today was talking about many things, DDT, the Delta Smelt and America's water supply, among them. I'm bringing Carrie Underwood into it. Glen is talking about the California farmer's desperate need for water, and I have a terrific video under the terrific video from Beck today - 2 videos. Water is being denied to farmers to protect the Delta Smelt which is a minnow. There's more to that story however. There is an ultimate motive, as there is always an ultimate motive with our current Socialist government. The motive in this case is Senate Bill 787, authored by Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI). The idea behind the bill, The Clean Water Restoration Act, is that the government grabs America's water. I wrote about this in May, and here is the introductory paragraph, which will give an example of how water - the most important resource everywhere in the world - can be used to control a people:

I was doing a post on the plight of Israel in 1967 when surrounding Arab countries were attempting to divert Israel's irrigation water. That water was a key player in the start of the 1967 War. No country can survive healthily without crop water.
Okay, that's Israel and that was 1967, but it is not a stretch that the government, our government, wants your pond. OpenCongress.org says s.787 seeks to amend the Federal Water Pollution Control Act to clarify the jurisdiction of the United States over the waters of the United States - which is a change from jurisdiction over only the "navigable waters" of the United States. The key words in the above paragraph are "water of the United States." Here is how the Clean Water Act defines these waters: The official term "waters of the United States" means, among other things (thanks to American Daughter ):
WATERS OF THE UNITED STATES- The term ‘waters of the United States’ means all waters subject to the ebb and flow of the tide, the territorial seas, and all interstate and intrastate waters and their tributaries, including lakes, rivers, streams (including intermittent streams), mudflats, sandflats, wetlands, sloughs, prairie potholes, wet meadows, playa lakes, natural ponds, and all impoundments of the foregoing, to the fullest extent that these waters, or activities affecting these waters, are subject to the legislative power of Congress under the Constitution.:
See what I mean about your pond? So Glen Beck today is talking about the lack of water in California and that the current focus on the "F" word, "fire," is not as important as another "F" word, "Farmer." Water is denied farmers because the Delta Smelt is protected. Here again is some of my commentary from May:
By now, you know that California farmers in the Central Valley are losing their farmland and their livelihood due to a two-inch minnow, the Delta Smelt. The government has taken the water from the farmers and given it to the minnow. What do you do when the gov'mt owns your pond - the pond your cattle drinks from and cools-off in, or the water in the fish-hatchery you own, or.... Senate Bill s.787 is not about the Delta Smelt, but the Delta Smelt is just one current and critical bit of evidence that proves what the government can do to us, if we allow it. Yes, you can put this off on the environmental "greenies" but, the governing body is "the government."
We might want to dismiss any evil intent in s. 787, but changing the designation of the original waters as set out in the original Clean Water Act of numerous years ago, from "navigable waters," to "water of the United States," which includes ALL waters, is a bit of a jump, and I just wonder why the government feels it necessary to control ALL of America's waters. There are a lot of crazy things going on, all of which have years of planning behind them by those dedicated to Socialism, redistribution of wealth, and worse. Control the water, control the health care. The Delta Smelt deprives Americans of food and livelihood - you'll see more about this in the second video below. DDT? Well I began thinking about DDT again during the last days of this year's American Idol. Former idol, Carrie Underwood - you know that gorgeous Okie who is a role-model-exceptionale (just recently partnered in a huge donation of musical instruments to her former high school in Checotah, Oklahoma) - well, anyway, Carrie was in Africa handing out mosquito nets to African mothers to help protect them and their children from mosquito bites, which are often deadly there. That brought to mind the fact that Rachel Carson convinced everyone that DDT was dangerous and toxic. It was banned in the U.S. in 1972. It is still legal in Africa but the use is discouraged - even thought some 3,000 people die, every day, - an African child dies every 30 seconds - in Africa from malaria alone. DDT is also considered effective in preventing typhus and typhoid fever. Nevertheless, the UN is trying to ban it worldwide. I think it is a good bet that Rachel Carson can be attributed with killing more people in the world than any other single person. There is worldwide suffering, even though, as you'll hear Beck report, there are no reports of DDT harming humans. People are still dying today. The mission is to supply mosquito nets. Are we ignorant or what? The first video is Glen talking about all of the above, (except Carrie Underwood), DDT, the Delta Smelt, America's water . He includes Van Jones - the Green Czar. Two important videos follow:
Glen Beck DDT, Delta Smelt, American Water (Video)
Americas Water - Delta Smelt (video)
Note: Senate Bill 787 had some action on June 17th. An amendment was added. More on this later. The co-authors are many and include all the usual suspects, including Boxer,Cantwell, Dodd, Durbin, Kerry,Leahy, Levin, Sanders, Schumer and sadly, Joe Lieberman.

Chris Dodd Canadian Health Care: Dodds Prostate Cancer Cure

Senator Chris Dodd has announced he will have surgery for prostate cancer in August. I wish him blessings for a full and complete recovery, and look forward to a first-hand and full report on the efficiency of Canadian health care when he returns.

Chris Dodd

Senator Dodd can tell us how he managed to get into an operating room with only a couple of weeks notice. Did his American doctor refer him? Were other alternate measures suggested...something less expensive than surgery?

Will follow-up meds be approved by his own U.S. physician? Probably not, but it doesn't matter, does it? I'll admit, I may be overlooking the fact, that Dodd might have chosen a Canadian doctor in the first place. American doctors don't know much and they order all those unnecessary tests. Someone needs to manage how the American physician manages our care anyway, so - yeah, I'm sure the Senator just went to Canada for his diagnosis.

For the latest breaking on Dodd's hospitalization, check this out.

Cure For Radiation Sickness

by Findalis What started out as a cure for radiation sickness resulting from cancer therapy, could become a weapon against the effects of a dirty bomb or nuclear weapon detonated by a terrorist group.

Medication that can protect humans against nuclear radiation has been developed by Jewish-American scientists in cooperation with a researcher and investors from Israel. The full story behind the dramatic discovery will be published in Yedioth Ahronoth's weekend edition. The ground-breaking medication, developed by Professor Andrei Gudkov – Chief Scientific Officer at Cleveland BioLabs - may have far-reaching implications on the balance of power in the world, as states capable of providing their citizens with protection against radiation will enjoy a significant strategic advantage vis-à-vis their rivals. For Israel, the discovery marks a particularly dramatic development that could deeply affect the main issue on the defense establishment's agenda: Protection against a nuclear attack by Iran or against "dirty bomb" attacks by terror groups. Gudkov's discovery may also have immense implications for cancer patients by enabling doctors to better protect patients against radiation. Should the new medication enable cancer patients to be treated with more powerful radiation, our ability to fight the disease could greatly improve. Read the full story here.
The implications for the world are enormous. Victims of a Radiological attack could be effectively treated for the effects of Radiation Sickness, thus the terror effect of such an attack would be minimized. Countries that don't have access to this drug would be at a disadvantage. Countries that threaten nations with nuclear attack who have this drug in their possession are neutralized. In effect, this drug silences Kim Jong Il of North Korea. For although he has a nuclear weapon, with this drug available, the short and long term effects upon the human body is no longer a major worry. The FDA is expected to approve this drug within a few years. Hope for cancer patients and for the rest of us who worry not if but when some nutcase or terror group gets a hold of nuclear material and tries to destroy a city with it.
