Tim Burns Republican for John Murthas Seat PA-12th District Video

The critical race for Pennsylvania's 12th District to fill the seat vacated by the deceased John Murtha is heating up. In the video below, Tim Burns, a Republican, says "this race is no longer about John Murtha," "it is more about stopping the liberal agenda of Obama and Pelosi." Burns said the 12th District voted for Murtha simply because he had been there for so long. The 12th District special election is May 18, 2010.

Tim Burns

Burns says the 12th District is pro-gun, pro-life, against health care and against Cap and Trade. His Democrat opponent is Mark Critz, a former staffer in Murtha's office. Visit his website here.

Ray Mabus USS John Murtha: Ray Mabus Chooses John Murtha for Warship Namesake

Well, this is certainly a development. What a reprehensible event it is that now puts our sailors serving aboard a warship named after deceased Rep. John Murtha (D-PA).

USS John Murtha

Navy Secretary Ray Mabus is responsible for choosing Murtha's name to grace a mighty defender of America. Does Mabus know anything about what is going on the real world? Obviously not, because if some pressure was being applied by some influential person...like...maybe Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi or President Barack Obama, Mabus apparently had a very convenient out, according to this: previous San Antonio class ships have been named for American cities -but didn't take it.

For those of you reminding me that Murtha is a decorated Vietnam Marine...let me save you the trouble.  I appreciate his service then. I don't appreciate his service in the House. What we once were, doesn't mean we die that way. Between Vietnam and today, a person can do a boatload of damage. (let us just sweep Murtha's various ethics violations under the rug of journalism).

After 19 terms in The People's House, without proof, Murtha told TIME magazine:
"It's much worse than reported. There was no fire fight. There was no IED that killed thse innocent people. Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood. And that's what the report is going to tell."
TIME claimed they had seen video taken by Human Rights Watch at the scene. That was not true. They issued a correction and then claimed the video came from Hammurabi and a
Haditha journalism student," working with Human Rights Watch. TIME also "regretted" reporting the specific content of a photograph that apparently didn't exist. Sweetness and Light has the story.

Murtha's accusations were a Liberal battlecry. We didn't hear any Democrat come out and savage Murtha for providing aid and comfort to Islamic terrorists and their sympathizers everywhere, and leaving a wake of destruction to swamp the lives of 8 Marines and all who loved them and cared for them.

Here's the message from the U.S. Marine Corp to the Congressman:

Graphic credit: DequalsS.com

Eight Marines were charged. Six have had charges dropped and a seventh was acquitted. Hopefully, the same will happen for the eighth.

In the first video you will hear Murtha claim a Marine commandant told him personally that murder was being covered up. When Charlie Gibson asked him specifically about the commandant claiming murder, Murtha walked it back a bit, but got angrier by the second. He tells Gibson not to make excuses for the Military. Of the guilt of the as-yet-uncharged Marines, Murtha said there is "no doubt in my mind."

The USS John Murtha is "designed to support embarking, transporting, and landing elements of a Marine landing force in an assault by helicopters, landing craft, amphibious vehicles, and by a combination of these methods to conduct primary amphibious warfare mission."

Congressman John Murtha left this world at age 77 in February 2010 due to gall bladder surgery complications.

Eric Massa Hit on Young Bartender at Funeral of Fallen Marine? Eric Massa Asked Male Staffers to Have Sex?

Former U.S. Representative Eric Massa's (D-NY-29th) story just delves deeper into the sewer. God bless his wife and children. It is alleged that interviews with senior staff reveal that the congressman "touched them in a sexual manner, came up with reasons to have staffers travel alone with him on overnight trips, and expressed a desire to have sex with the men in the office." Staffers lodged complaints against Massa for a year before the news broke, forcing him to resign his seat. And now we hear that the final hammer that fell was Massa hitting on a "young bartender" at the funeral of a fallen Marine.

Eric Massa

House Minority leader, John Boehner (R-OH) is accusing Nancy Pelosi's staff of knowing of the problem and doing nothing about it. A staffer for Massa has hired an attorney, Debra Katz, who said Massa's behavior "left my client and other gay men in the office even more vulnerable to Representative Massa's predatory behavior." The environment in Massa's office was "a frat house environment full of sex talk and lewd behavior."

Massa tendered his resignation after attending the funeral for a Marine who died in an explosion in Afghanistan. Massa apparently hit on a "young bartender" at the wake. A few days later, a New York blogger alerted Massa's office that someone left an anonymous comment on his blog accusing Massa of soliciting sex from the bartender.

In early March, TIME writer Jay Newton-Small explained why Eric Massa was "no Mark Foley." You'll recall that Foley participated in some sexually explicit emails to male House pages. In the years since the 2006 scandal broke, there has never been any credible proof that Foley ever had any physical contact with the pages. The TIME reports says the situations differ in these ways, and I'll begin with Newton-Small's last point:

5) Massa was a Democrat and not held to the "same family values" standards that Republicans hold themselves to!!! What does that have to do with sexually harrassing a staffer? Well...here's the answer: Democrat leadership will apparently not respond to the complaints of staffers. Republicans will.

1) Massa's staff referred his behavior to an Ethics Committee. Well, yes they did, but Newton-Small says  the Ethics Committee "was on the case: there is no cover-up." Obviously, we know there was a cover-up at the highest level of the House leadership.

2) The staffer in Massa's lair isn't an underage teen. That appears to be true...so far.

3) Massa's resignation was not due to a sex scandal but a return of his cancer. Well, no...not quite, according to his staff he resigned after charges that he hit on a "young" bartender at a Marine's funeral.

4) Massa had barely been in office for 14 months. He did not have the power that the six-term Foley had. That's true, but it appears Massa was behaving badly for nearly the entire time he was in Congress...and Nancy Pelosi knew about it. There is nothing here to compare. When a staffer is sexually harrassed, who cares how powerful the congressman is?

Mark Foley resigned within hours of the allegations against him - as requested by Republican leadership, not Foley's own staffers - which is what it took to make Pelosi and Steny Hoyer pay attention.

Then there is this little tidbit: the Florida Democrat who replaced Foley is a married man who was accused of agreeing to pay a staffer/mistress $121,000 to avoid a lawsuit. He is also alleged to have offered the woman, Patricia Allen, a $50,000/a year job for two years with his ad agency. There was no appalling outcry by Democrats. In fact, this report says then-Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel, the head of the Democratic Caucus, worked with Mahoney to keep the situation from hurting his re-election campaign. Mahoney ran for reelection in 2008 and lost to Republican Tom Rooney. Rooney is a former member of the U.S. Army JAG Corps and former West Point instructor, and so far is scandal free.

Eric Cantor Shots through Office Window: Jim Clyburn Republicans are Aiding Terrorism

Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) is on FOX News this minute saying that a bullet was shot through the window of his Richmond, Virginia office last night. Since joining the Republican leadership, Cantor says he has received numerous threats, some because he is Jewish. Cantor says Democrat leadership are "fanning the flames." Perhaps this refers to Rep. Jim Clyburn's (D-SC) claims that Republicans are aiding terrorism. See Clyburn's statement in the video below.

In a press conference this morning, Cantor said these threats are nothing new, but they must stop. He accused Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and Tim Kaine, chairman of the DNC of "dangerously fanning the flames by suggesting these incidents be used as a political weapon." I'm reminded of the Congressional Black Caucus parading through the midst of Tea Partiers AND others outside the Capitol this weekend as Democrats prepared to pass health care. The Caucus claims shouts of the "n" word, at least 15 times, and Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) said he was spit upon...but in all the many videos there are no "n" words used, and nothing to back up Cleaver's claims, except his buddies in the Congressional Black Caucus - who race-bait and fling racist accusations without provocation.

Since threats are in the news, but only Republican threats on Democrats, never Democrat threats on Republicans, here is some history to refresh your memory

Remember when Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) compared John McCain to Alabama Governor George Wallace? See more examples of Obamabots and how they protest  Republicans. One more.

Here's a good one from August 2009, when Obamabots protested at a Town Hall where Virginians were telling their representatives they did not want this version of health care - note the word "Euthanize:"

Euthanize the Fearmongers - Virginia - August 2009

Let's take a look at the threats and violence directly connected to the man himself, Barack Obama:

1) Senator Barack Obama, in full presidential campaign mode, using Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) to threaten McCain-Palin supporters with Missouri law enforcement intimidation? Can't mention his drug use, his hidden background, his aunt in the U.S. illegally allegedly with her own American social security card, or his close associations to ACORN and the Gamaliel Foundation.
In Missouri, Obama allies, from a U.S. Senator to a local sheriff, threatened criminal proceedings against television stations tht air anti-Obama commercials. Such "police state tactics" prompted Gove. Matt Blunt to charge Obama's campaign with "abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism."
2) Threatening the NRA and cable and TV stations
ObamaNation used the same strategy against the National Rifle Association when its political fund released ads to enducate gun owners about Obama's hostile record. Bob Bauer, attorney for the Obama campaign, urged cable and television stations in Pennsylvania to "immediately cease" airing the NRA's ads, because the campaign determined they were "false, misleading and deceptive."
3) Threatening American Issues Project
Similarly, Bauer pressured the U.S. Justice Department to prosecute the non-profit American Issues Project and one of its donors over an advertising campaign that exposed Obama's alliances with domestic terrorist-turned-university professor William Ayers who has reflected, "I don't regret setting bombs...I feel we didn't do enough."
4) Threats to journalists probing Obama's background:
A more sinister intimidation befell journalists....The Chicago Tribune reported that Obama's campaign used its database "listing contact information for millions of people" not onl for raising money but "to beat back media messages it does not like."
Even liberal commentator Andrew Sullivan called the Obama tactics "a disgraceful attempt to intimade journalists trying to get at the facts."
5) No explanation needed for the many times Obama has used the race card on America.

6) And one of the most importants threats coming from Barack Obama to American voters is the voter intimidation case against the New Black Panthers - which Attorney General Eric Holder dismissed, and on behalf of all Americans, Republicans are trying to revive.

Remember when Bill Clinton staffers vandalized the White House, held as a National Treasurer by most of us, as they exited, leaving it in shambles, with missing computer keys and stolen china?
Glue was smeared on desk drawers. Messages disparaging President Bush were left on signs and in telephone voice mail. A few of the messages used profane or obscene language...."A Secret Service report documented the theft of a presidential seal that was 12 inches in diameter from the Eisnehower Executive Office Building...graffiti derogatory to Mr. Bush...in men's room...especially offensive or vulgar...the cost at $13,000 to $14,000...GSA estimated that it cost $3,750 to $4,675 to replace missing doorknobs, medallions and office sign and the large presidential seal....
Bush officials said they had found offices ful of trash, broken furniture and filthy carpets. The Clinton administration officials insisted that the dirt and damage reflected normal wear and tear.
The New York Times report above called the Clinton staffer's "pranksters."

Lee Harvey Where Are You?

Zomblog has cataloged many, many threats on G. W. Bush, as well as the many times those threats were followed-up by authorities:
...in the past, whenever someone threatened Bush at a protest, there was a deafening silence on the part of the media and the left-leaning blogs, and consequently very little (if any) follow-through on the part of the Secret Service....
And the only reason I'm publishing the essay is that many Obama supporters -- to my astonishment -- now claim that Bush was never threatened at protests. ~ Zomblog.
Democrats are all wee-wee'd up that Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY) had a brick thrown through her window, as she schemed to help Pelosi use an illegal maneuver to pass health care. But Republicans have had campaign headquarters and officials' offices vandalized many time:

MCCAIN-PALIN: RNC Chairman Robert M. "Mike" Duncan said in a statement over the weekend that "violent intimidation tactics" have been adopted by some supporters of Democratic nominee Sen. Barack Obama.~ WSJ Oct 2008  and today, at least one shot fired through the window of an Eric Cantor offices

How the Democrats Legislate: Watch John Murtha Cheat the Vote Live on Camera

The Thinker Blog asks "what lengths will the Dems go to?" That question reminded me of an unbelievable video of the now deceased, Congressman Jack Murtha (D-PA), lying and cheating and deceiving while standing at the podium of the People's House. The desecration of the House floor took place in August 2007, 1-1/2 years before Barack Obama mounted the Oval Office.

It strikes me that we never heard a single objection from the Democrat party in the House that day. The message cannot be clearer: These people are Far-Left and dangerous. Let us never forget it! Let us be ready to fight it.

Boehner calls for Pelosi Hoyer Investigation: Boehner Introduces Privileged Resolution

Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) introduced a Privileged Resolution on the floor of the House today, calling for an investigation into Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Steny Hoyer (D-MD), and their handling of the Rep. Eric Massa scandal and claims that he had inappropriately groped House staffers.

This threat to Pelosi and Hoyer, may explain this report yesterday:

House Democrats, armed with a thick docket of Republican ethics cases, are putting the GOP leadership on notice: Throw mud at them and they'll pitch rocks at a Republican glass house."
Boehner either didn't get the memo or is not intimidated by the Democrat's rocks.

Pelosi allegedly told Roll Call that she only learned of the accusations against Massa on March 10th, yet a report in the Washington Post on March 11th claims the Speaker knew about the sexual harrassment claims  as early as October 2009.

The Privileged Resolution goes on, but the short story is, Boehner believes Pelosi may not have acted against one of her own, in an appropriate manner, and cites this House Rule:

Whereas, clause one of Rule XXXIII of the Rules of the House of Representatives, titled “Code of Conduct,” states “A Member, Delegate, Resident Commission, officer, or employee of the House shall conduct himself at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House”
The Resolution calls for the formation of an Investigative Subcommittee, and protection from deleted emails, text messages, voicemails and other records, and the findings reported to the House no later than June 30th, 2010.

Obviously, there was no justice for the abused staffers, if there were abused staffers, and how often do you see an Ethics investigation begin, and shut down, in one week's time, with no conclusions reached - especially when the charges involve sex?

Massa Groping Charges Now Dropped: Who Drops Groping Accusations After Only One Week?

Yesterday as Congressman Eric Massa (D-NY) and Glenn Beck plodded through a daft interview designed to set the record straight: why did Massa suddenly resign his House seat? Did he do anything inappropriate with staffers at all, as staffers charged? Did he do anything illegal at all, and did Democrats threaten him, or try to make deals - did they try to buy his health care vote, and what's this about Massa and Rahm Emanuel in the House shower? See video below.

Just a day earlier, Massa was claiming that Democrats wanted him out and would say and do anything to discredit him. But on Beck, Massa pointed no fingers, except at Rahm Emanuel. He blamed himself for everything.

Massa said nothing illegal had happened. He inappropriately tickled a staffer - touseled his hair, etc. and he didn't mention this report about "interns." Rahm Emanuel absolutely did walk up naked in the House showers, poke him the chest and advised him how to vote on some past issue, Massa said, but he didn't mention on Beck that he and 5 staffers shared a Washington, D.C. townhouse.

Over and over he smiled and took responsibility for his actions. Over and over. It was odd, because just one day earlier Massa was blaming more than a few people (see the video below).

One week ago the House Ethics Committee opened an investigation into the inappropriate groping with staffers. Just one week ago...and today, with Massa gone, the charges are also gone and the Ethics Committee has closed the case.

So what about the staffers? They said they were "groped." Were they? If they were, is the House so willing to let this go? Doesn't the People's House always protect staffers from sexual predators? I don't know the truth of the story, but who dismisses sexual harrassment charges in one week - unless the charges were made up to get Massa the heck out the way. Or maybe, more is on the way and Democrats simply don't need this strange man bouncing off the walls of Congress.

Army Psychs Hasan: Army Schools Hasan on Islam: Hasans Islam 101

Get this. The Army tried to teach Major Nidal Hasan about Islam. Supervisors at Walter Reed Army hospital say Hasan had a "growing preoccupation with religion and war," and they thought they could diminish that focus by taking him to school on Islam. Breaking this moment from FOX News: Hasan will be charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder.

Nidal Hasan was ordered to:
...attend a university lecture series on Islam, the Middle East and terrorism, according to a Walter Reed staff member familiar with Hasan's medical training.

The psychiatric staff at Walter Reed did not discuss kicking him out of the service, according to the staff member. In fact, Hasan was initially considered a good medical school candidate because he had spent time as an enlisted soldier and had cared for his siblings after his parents died, both attributes that supervisors believed indicated he had a healthy work ethic.
A very interesting quote in this article from an unknown Walter Reed staff member:
He seems to want to do work in an area no one knows anything about," the staff member, who also requested anonymity because he had not been authorized to speak publicly, said of the order. "You don't want to close him down just because it's different."
From this quote, we see the Army needs to school non-Muslims on exactly what the Koran demands. It is critical that staff know how jihadists think. Here we have a staff admitting  "they know nothing" about Islam, yet tries to psych-out a radical. Unbelievable!

Hasan went to Islam 101 courtesy the U.S. Army "late last year or early this year." The Army's psychiatric staff "discussed Hasan's lack of productivity," due to his extreme immersion, and:
"constant interest in Muslims whose religious beliefs conflicted with their military duties."
Notice that Hasan didn't kill any "conflicted" Muslims.
Hasan came to the attention of two joint terrorism task forces in December 2008, as he corresponded by e-mail with Anwar al-Aulaqi [al-Alwaki], a U.S. citizen and Islamic spiritual leader residing in Yemen who has exhorted followers to pursue violent jihad, or holy war.
A Defense Department analyst on one of the task forces concluded that the chatter was innocent and in keeping with Hasan's research interests, two government officials said this week.
Only "government officials" steeped in politically correct ignorance stupidity could believe corresponding with al-Alwaki, whom they describe as a jihadist, is "innocent" and "research" based. The deaths of 14 innocents should haunt them.

Hasan's aunt continues to say that her nephew tried to be discharged from the Army, but officials say that never happened.
In a further indication that Hasan was not actively seeking formal discharge, he was evaluated by an Army promotion board in the spring of 2008 that endorsed his performance as an officer as patriotic, and elevated him from the rank of captain to major, a promotion that took place in May 2009, according to the official.
Officers who "have a remaining service obligation" will not be released. Hasan fit that category. Hasan let authorities know who he was. When will this country begin profiling a person's actions?

Stimulus Obscenity No. 2: John Murtha Airport

Pennsylvania's John Murtha airport is perhaps the worthiest recipient of the "stimulus obscenity" designation. This is Number 2, not because another wasteful use of stimulus funds is even more wasteful than this one, but because I just started the list, and this is the second entry. Located two hours from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the multi-million dollar airport, funded by the taxpayer, averages twenty passengers a day.

John Murtha Airport

After watching the video below, I did some quick calculations. Congress has just alotted another $800,00.00 to pave an "alternate" runway for an airport that has three flights a day out and three flights a day in. An average of twenty people fly out daily. If twenty people a day fly out, then let's be generous and estimate that twenty people also fly in daily. T

hree airplanes flying out and three airplanes flying in, each with about 33 seats. That's 198 seats in the air with a total of 40 people, on average flying. Can that be right? This started out to be about the video below. The waste it reveals is astonishing. I've transcribed it, because I like to have this stuff at my fingertips.

If you're interested, I've added some John Murtha background before the video, or you can skip right to the transcription or video to see this piece of work in Johnstown-Cambria County, Pennsylvania

There's more to the story than what we see and hear in the video. Here are some points we all need to know about:

1) The airport has received $200 million in federal funds over the last decade. An additional $800 million was awared this year from the Economic Stimulus Bill.

2) The airport was newly crowned with the name John Murtha Johnstown-Cambria County Airport. For the generosity of the taxpayer, John Murtha's portrait hangs in the lobby. I'm guessing that portrait was a business expense.

3) Murtha directed $192 million from the 2008 budget to his district and holds the record for gaining the most funds for his district - more than any other Congressman.

4) "As a part of an investigation of a lobbying firm led by one of Murtha's closest friends," Murtha is under investigation for "steering millions in earmarks to defense contractors who give to his campaign and hire his allies as lobbyists.

5) While the money rolls in, the passenger count has fallen by more than half in the past 10 years.

6) Murtha said the stimulus funding would bring jobs to his congressional district. So, nevermind that the airport is void of a sustaining business, someone gets paid just to show up.

7) The taxpayer subsidies are about $1.4 million annually or $147 per passenger in 2008. This is DOUBLE the national average for federal programs.

8) Along with the economic stimulus funds, another unnamed program, but believed to be an FAA program, provided $7.3 million in 2004. Eventually, the mandated number of passengers fell below requirements. Murtha stepped into regain the funds. It worked, although an FAA spokesman said the "runway rehabilitation project met the stimulus package's criteria by being shovel-ready and on a state-endorsed priority list."

Again, nevermind that the airport has no sustaining business, and the $18 million dollar runway, designed to handle any airplane in North America, is only utilized by United Express/Colgan Air (no military jets or larger commercial planes).

According to United's website, the United Express flights for June from Johnstown, PA to Washington Dulles are on a Saab 340 which appears to hold about 33 passengers. The flight takes 58 minutes. A round-trip ticket is $512 per person at the moment.

9) There are three flights arriving and three flights departing each week day. It appears that weekend flights are one-way-only to Washington, D.C.; one on Saturday and two on Sunday.

10) In 2007, the airport manager was fired. The same day MTT Aviation Services was hired. MTT Aviation is a subsidiary of Mountaintop Technologies:
...a defense contractor that had received at least $23 million in earmarks from Murtha since 2001 and is run by his close friend.
MTT hired a lobbying firm that had one of Murtha's former staffers as a lead lobbyist and had once employed Murtha's brother.
11) In May 2009, The Hill reported that GOP members in the house entered an amendment to block funds for Murtha's airport. The amendment to stop more funding for the "Airport for No One" failed. Eleven Democrats voted for the amendment along with Republicans.

12) The "End of the Monument to Me" Legislation approved (emphasis Maggie's Notebook):
Only two lawmakers, Democratic Reps. Jim Moran (Va.) and Nick Rahall (W.Va.), voted against a separate amendment prohibiting any funds from being used to name a building, project or program for a currently serving member of Congress. The measure, sponsored by Rep. Mike McCaul (R-Texas) was approved. McCaul said Murtha’s airport, as well as other earmark projects named after sitting members, such as the Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service as the City College of New York, “fuel the beliefs that members of Congress are arrogant and out of touch with their constituents.” Rep. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) declared the legislation “the end of the ‘monuments to me,’” a reference to entities named after members who earmark funds for the projects. McCaul said he planned to offer the same amendment to all upcoming appropriations bills. That language would prevent lawmakers from directing funds to any already-existing entities named after sitting members of Congress, even if an outside group named it after the lawmaker.
13) Murtech in Glen Burnie, MD is owned by John Murtha's nephew, Robert C. Murtha. Murtech received $1.4 million in Pentagon contracts, "all of it without competititon." Robert's father, and John Murtha's brother, Kit Murtha, is a lobbyist with connections to his brother's House Appropriation's Committee assignment. There may be no "there" here, but then again...who would know, or who would tell? Video Transcripton begins here: ABC News' Charlie Gibson and reporter on the scene, Jonathan Karl, give us a look inside this wasteful and dishonest use of taxpayer's money. I'm ashamed for the people interviewed who think the airport is due them.
[Charlie Gibson] Tonight we have a look inside an airport that has been on the receiving end of millions of dollars of taxpayer money, including economic stimulus funds. And judging by the infusions of cash and state of the art equipment, you'd think this airport was doing a booming business. You would be wrong. As Jonathan Karl reports it is an enormous expenditure of your money.
[Jonathan Karl] Welcome to the The John Murtha Johnstown County-Cambria Airport, with a $7 million air traffic control tower, a $14 million hanger and an $18 million runway, big enough to land any airplane in North America. For most of the day, the only thing this airport doesn't have is airplanes. This is the John Murtha airport at 10:30 a.m. in the morning. There is nobody here. It pretty much looks like an airport ghost town. The airport isn't always deserted. There are three flights a day, all of them to Washington, D.C. The federal government subsidizes every flight into this airport to the tune of about $100.00 per passenger. In other words, the taxpayer spends about as much money for my ticket on this flight as I did. Subsidized fares and plenty of empty seats. We have rented a car but the Hertz counter is as deserted as the rest of the airport. So we placed a call and we are told that the Hertz representative will be driving in from downtown Johnstown to give us the key for the car which we believe is parked out front. Its a monument to the power of Congressman John Murtha who has steered some $150 million in taxpayer dollars to this airport over the last decade.
[Jonathan Karl speaking to unknown man] As you look around the airport whether it be the reinforced runway, the radar facility, the new terminal, how much of this is thanks to John Murtha?
[unidentified man] All of it.
[Karl] Congressman Murtha refused to talk to us, but the people who use it are grateful to have it.
[Karl speaking to another unidentified man] So you like having this airport here?
[unidentified man] Of course.
[Karl] Court of John Murtha.? [unidentified man] Of course. John Murtha is a good man. [unidentified family] It's a breeze to get through. Security? No prob. It's right in your back yard.
[Karl] But last year an average of just 20 people a day flew out of the John Murtha airport.
[Karl] What do people around here do between flights? [unidentified man] Nothing.
[Karl] Even so the airport was just awarded another $800,000 in federal stimulus money to repave an alternate runway, and it's your money! Transcription End.

The War Politicians Don't Want to Talk About

The dedicate and hard-working group at ANEWTONE has announced surpassing it's ONE MILLIONTH hit for 2008 - and over THREE MILLION since the site fired-up in mid-2005. It's easy to see why ANEWTONE is having such tremendous growth - just read the piece below written by

~Snooper~

American politics. At times, especially in recent times, can be an international embarrassment. In my short 53 years on this planet, I have been a keen observer of politics ever since I voted for that fellow from Georgia. You know. Him. The guy that hates Israel and loves terrorists and tries to convince people that he is sane. I figured out he was insane when he screwed the Shah of Iran and put into power those "nice religious people". He then accepted the Shah into the US for medical treatment and then had him ejected from the US because those "nice religious people" demanded it. Then, he gave the Panama Canal to the Red Chinese and had American military members killed in Iran on a rescue mission of the American hostages. He later claimed that if he had had one more chopper, he would have won re-election. Idiot. Alas, I digress. Getting back to American politics, I discovered many years ago that the vast majority of the politicians that wind up in DC don't give a hoot about the American People. All they care about is the Almighty Power they get to wield. Power is all that matters. Tenure in office is all that matters. Bribing constituents of their districts for votes is all that matters. Case in point is Murtha, the soon to be EX-Marine, hopefully, that disgraced his uniform and the Oath he swore at one time but tossed that solemn Oath out the window for political gain. He isn't the only one, either. The list is long and brutal. Why won't the current crop of contenders for the Presidency on the DNC ticket talk about what is going on at this moment in Iraq or Afghanistan? And, what about those 18 Iraqi Benchmarks they so whined about all of last year? For that matter, whatever came of "the war is lost"? For that matter, whatever came of the Democrat Party chant of "we are going to end this war"? Were those words and mantras merely to win an election? Certainly they would not stoop to such new depths as to lie their way into power, would they? Well, as it turns out, the answer is an astoundingly, resounding and rising crescendo of YES! In today's NY Post, Amir Taheri has an article addressing the various candidates and The Why they don't talk about Iraq much...they can't. It exposes them for being on the wrong side of the war for political gain and would have to admit that Bush was right. Even though he was and is right, they cannot rise above their self-induced quagmire of failure. They would also have to admit that Iran is indeed behind about 90% of the turmoil now in country, both in Iraq and Afghanistan. Hell, I knew that back before 91101. Surely they did as well. But, it isn't politically expedient to admit so. This is why American politics is so damn embarrassing. The entire world knows that Iran is behind the unrest. Only a fool does not. Please excuse me for stating the obvious to the oblivious. Political Correctness. Multiculturalism. Identity Politics. The cowards' rants of stupidity, self-imposed. A political quagmire of their own making. Perhaps they should redeploy? I will end this with a quote from George Orwell found at the American Thinker and discussed tonight at JPM's BTR show.
"We have now sunk to a depth where the restatement of the obvious is the duty of intelligent men" - George Orwell.
Sadly, there aren't many intelligent men left in this country. At least not many that are willing to speak out. Article End.
