Child Soldiers Okay in Sudan, Yemen, Chad, Congo: Obama Funds Child Soldiers

U.S. law stipulates that we will not extend aid to any country utilizing "child soldiers." At least it was the law until Obama exempted Sudan, Yemen, Chad and the Congo. They use children for solidiers...we send money anyway. Barack Obama deemed it so. Congress wants to know why.

State Department spokesman, P.J. Crowley explained that these four countries "need more time" to implement the policies we object to, and to keep stability in these areas. We will break our own laws, because in The Time of Obama, the Rule of Law means nothing. 

The law requires the State Department to list governments that recruit and use child soldiers in the annual “Trafficking in Persons Report.” Governments appearing on the list are prohibited from receiving military assistance or buying arms from the United States unless the president grants an exemption on grounds of "national interest."

Republican Congressman Jeff Fortenberry (Neb) says the waiver is an "affront to our principles," and is a "most serious human rights violation...." He is awaiting a memo of "waiver justification" from the White House, due in 45 days.

Think about these four egregious countries: the Sudan, Yemen, Chad and the Congo. None have the slightest penchant for human rights, especially for women and children. Children are routinely raped in each. There is no governmental stability in any of the four countries. Who will these children be fighting against? What are we thinking when we break our own laws designed to protect children? Do we consider that in each of these countries, Muslims are at the heart of the problem? Can't wait for Obama's "justification" memo.

William Lynch Pummels Pedophile Priest Jerold Lindner: Lynch Smiles When Arrested

The headline: Pedophile priest's victim smiles as he is arrested for a 'revenge beating' 35 years later. That almost tells the whole story, but there is more. The priest, Jerold Lindner is alleged to have molested William Lynch's younger brother as well as William Lynch.

William Lynch, 43, grinned in his mugshot as he was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon for the May 10 attack that sent the Rev. Jerold Lindner to the hospital with bruises and lacerations.

Lynch harbored a fantasy for years of confronting the priest, who also allegedly molested Lynch's little brother and up to a dozen others.

Lynch and his younger brother settled with the Jesuits of the California Province, a Roman Catholic religious order, for $625,000 (£390,000) in 1998 after alleging that Lindner abused them in 1975 during weekend camping trips in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Does it get anymore despicable than this?  

The boys, who were seven and five at the time, were raped in the woods and forced to have oral sex with each other while Lindner watched, Harris said. Lindner has been accused of abuse by nearly a dozen people, including his own sister and nieces and nephews [some as young as three years old].

There are some 150 accusations of molestation and rape. Someone within the church is quoted saying the pervert, Jerold Lindner, has "recovered" and is "living a quiet life of prayer and service within our community."

Allen West and Outlaws: Outlaw Bikers Support Allen West

There is new smear on Allen West for support from The Outlaws Motorcycle Club (AOA). Retired Lt. Col. West is vying to take Democrat incumbent Ron Klein's congressional seat in Florida's 22nd District . The Outlaws support the Colonel. They are arch-enemies of Hells Angels. Both clubs have members in prison.

But here's the thing about The Outlaw's support of Allen West: West is a patriot, he reveres the U.S. Constitution and he talks about it. He reveres our Republic and our democracy, and he talks about it. If the Outlaws are supporting West, then they must also support the same. If the Outlaws are ruthless and involved in criminal activity, our laws will deal with them, but apparently the Outlaws that West has had contact with are free citizens of the U.S. They are free to vote, and I believe they will not vote twice, will not vote a non-voter's vote, and will not sign-up illegals and escort them to the polls - all of which Liberals engage in in every election year. Infamously, if you are a Liberal, and famously if you are a Conservative, West gave a belligerent Iraqi civilian police office the opportunity to tell him who was killing soldiers:

After about 20 more minutes of useless questioning, West grabbed the man, held him down near a box full of sand used to discharge jammed weapons, and said something like, "This is it. I'm going to count to five again, and if you don't give me what I want, I'm going to kill you." West held the man down, counted to five, and then fired his pistol into the discharging box about a foot from the Iraqi's head. He began talking. Over the next few minutes, the prisoner gave very specific information about the plot. He named the conspirators, gave times and dates of the assassination plan, and even described how attacks would be made.

After the Iraqi talked, there were no more attacks on U.S. forces. For this, Lt. Col. West was relieved of this campaign:

He was told he would go through an Article 32, which is about the same as a Grand Jury hearing. At the hearing he was asked if he would do the same thing again. West replied "if it's about the lives of my men and their safety, I'd go through hell with a gasoline can."Congress sent a letter to the Secretary of the Army in support of him with 95 signatories.

Congo Rape: 200 Women and Boys Raped by Forces for Liberation of Rwanda

A U.N. military camp is situated about 10 miles from the town of Luvungi in eastern Congo, where 200 women and several infant boys were raped, some repeatedly gang-raped, some taken deep into the forest, abused and left to die or crawl back home. Luvungi is a mineral rich mining town with gold, cassiterite and coltan, and every rebel in the Congo wants to control the riches.

The small staff of about 25 U.N. "peacekeepers" knew the FDLR (Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda) and Congolese rebels were in Luvungi, but were outnumbered by the 200-400 attackers.  .
The attacks began on July 30th and continued until the rebels left of their own accord on August 4th.
A U.N. spokesman at the New York headquarters said he has verified 154 women were raped. International and local Congo health officials say they have treated 179 women but the numbers could soar as many are afraid to speak out and some women are still coming back into town from the forest.

Four young boys also were raped, said Dr. Kasimbo Charles Kacha, the district medical chief. Masudi said they were babies aged one month, six months, a year and 18 months.

"Many women said they were raped in their homes in front of their children and husbands, and many said they were raped repeatedly by three to six men," Cragin said. Others were dragged into the nearby forest.

Four young boys also were raped, said Dr. Kasimbo Charles Kacha, the district medical chief. Masudi said they were babies aged one month, six months, a year and 18 months.

Rape as a weapon of war has become shockingly commonplace in eastern Congo, where at least 8,300 rapes were reported last year, according to the United Nations. It is believed that many more rapes go unreported. 

Some reports claim that during the time of the attacks, some "Indian" peacekeepers provided a military escort for a commercial shipment, bringing charges that goods, but not civilians were protected. I'm not sure where the "Indian" peacekeepers come into the picture.

About a year ago, the U.K.'s Mirror accused two British firms, Amalgamated Metals and Afrimex, of "buying minerals" and funding armed thugs.

The Congolese government has demanded that the U.N. mission in Congo withdraw, saying it has failed in its mission. The force of 20,000 U.N. soldiers are the largest peacekeeping mission in the world, at a cost of $1.35 billion annually. The U.N. cites the 20,000 troops are far too few for the size of the mission where rebels regularly use civilians as shields. In May, the U.N. agreed to withdraw "up to 2,000 troops." So, does this mean the U.N. is occupying Congo?

A Muslim woman in New Jersey has received a divorce from her Muslim husband, but Judge Joseph Charles has denied her request for a restraining order. The husband sexually abused her and forced repeated sex. The Judge respected the man's right as a Muslim to behave according to Muslim belief.

Judge Charles was overturned in July 2010 in an Appellate Court ruling that the husbands religious beliefs were irrelevant and the judge "was mistaken" in his assessment.  At least some in this country understand that Islam is first and foremost a tyrannical and misogynist government.

The woman's attorney, Jennifer Donnelly, said this Appellate Court ruling may help Oklahoma's law which will be on the ballot in November, banning judges from considering "international law or Shariah Law in their rulings. I'm in Oklahoma and I can hardly wait to mark my ballot for banning both.

When Judge Charles leveled his ruling, this was his wrong thinking:

In considering the woman's plea for a restraining order after the couple divorced, Charles ruled in June 2009 that a preponderance of the evidence showed the defendant had harassed and assaulted her, but "The court believes that [defendant] was operating under his belief that it is, as the husband, his desire to have sex when and whether he wanted to, was something that was consistent with his practices and it was something that was not prohibited."

Get this: the husband's imam testified for the man:

"The imam testified regarding Islamic law as it relates to sexual behavior. The imam confirmed that a wife must comply with her husband's sexual demands, because the husband is prohibited from obtaining sexual satisfaction elsewhere.

"However, a husband was forbidden to approach his wife 'like any animal.' ... he acknowledged that New Jersey law considered coerced sex between married people to be rape."

Judge Charles is unavailable for comment. "The husband has been indicted on criminal charges and will face trial in the fall." It is unclear whether the criminal charges are related to the divorce.

Roman Polanski Free: Roman Polanski Swiss Extradition to US Denied

In October 2009 I wrote "the Swiss get it" as they agreed to extradite Roman Polanski back to the U.S. to face charges of sodomy, rape and drugging a 13 year old girl in 1977. The extradition would come after the the U.S. provided requested paperwork, which eventually included records from a January 2010 hearing in Los Angeles.

Polanski's attorneys argued that in 1977 an L.A. judge ruled that Polanski's 42 days in a psychiatric unit in a California prison fulfilled the entire sentencing of the child rapist, who jumped bail and fled the country the night before sentencing. The original judge in the case, Laurence J. Rittenband, died in 1993. The January 2010 hearing was to examine the Judge's words and intentions. The U.S. refused to provide those sealed records, so Romanski, who has been living in a beautiful Swiss chalet under electronic monitoring, is now free.

Molly Hagerty is Al Gore Accuser: Portland Police ReOpens Sex Abuse Case Video

We know the Portland Police are not reopening Al Gore's sexual abuse case because business is slow. Molly Hagerty is the massage therapist's name. Some are claiming the hotel's video surveillance may support her claims, and the Enquirer states there is DNA evidence, video footage and a "key witness." See a video re-enactment below. The Police A family spokesperson said further investigation will only benefit Mr. Gore. Here is part of Molly Hagerty's statement:

Gore "flipped me flat on my back and threw his whole body face down over atop me pinning me down and outweighing me by quite a bit,...he kept trying to have sex with me...."

A spokesperson for the former vice president said then that the family had no comment on the case.

According to a 73-page "Confidential Special Report" made public by authorities on June 23, the "licensed massage therapist" stated she was summoned to a suite at the upscale Lucia Hotel at the reuest of a gues, where "during the course of this massage session Al Gore did sexually assault me in his room.

I doubt the hotel would destroy surveillance of high-profile customers like Al Gore, and who is the "key witness?" Being known as "a pervert and sexual predator" are definitely and inconvenient truth, if true.

 Rees noted that Hagerty sold her story to the National Enquirer, failed a polygraph test, thanked the hotel management two days after the alleged incident for sending business her way and "has not provided as repeatedly requested medical records she claims are related to the case."

We have verified the 62-year-old former VP was in Portland at the time of the alleged incident - Oct. 24, 2006 - and we saw the $540 massage bill. updated 6:51 PM on 6/23/10 by the National Enquirer

Fox is just now reporting that the massage therapist charged that Gore "touched her inappropriately." The woman is 54 years old. At the time, she reported the incident to the police but did not want to press charges. Then the woman came back some time later with the clothing she was wearing at the time.

Death by 1000 Papercuts (DBKP) says Al Gore used the name Mr. Stone when he purchased the woman's services in a Portland, OR hotel in 2006 reports this:

The print edition of the Enquirer has much more–including a facsimile of the police document “Police Bureau Special Report” that named Mr. STONE aka GORE, AL, Former Vice President of the United States of America with the possible charge being ‘Sex Abuse III.”

The report says the incident occurred on October 24, 2006 and was signed by a police detective C.M. Waddell.

The Enquirer also reports that the woman in question saved her pants and the DNA on them as evidence.

Mr. Gore is certainly receiving publicity these days. Stay tuned.

JUNE 24--In a bizarre statement to police, the Oregon woman who claims that Al Gore fondled and groped her during a massage session described the former Vice President as a giggling "crazed sex poodle" who gave a "come hither" look before pouncing on her in a Portland hotel suite. 


In a taped January 2009 interview with cops, the 54-year-old woman, a licensed masseuse whose name has been redacted from police records, read from a lengthy prepared statement that detailed her alleged October 2006 encounter with Gore at the Hotel Lucia.


It is unclear why, two years later, she approached Portland police and sought to memorialize her allegations against Gore, who she portrayed as a tipsy, handsy predator who forced her to drink Grand Marnier, pinned her to a bed, and forcibly French kissed her. 


The woman's statement--which could be mistaken for R-rated Vice Presidential fan fiction--describes Gore as a man with a "violent temper as well as extremely dictatorial commanding attitude besides his Mr. Smiley Global Warming concern persona." 


After fleeing Gore's suite, the woman returned home to discover, a la Lewinsky, "stains on the front of my black slacks." Suspecting that the stains were Gore bodily fluids, the woman made sure not to clean them. "I carefully hung them up and decided to be sure not to launder them until I knew more what to do with what had happened.


"I did not want to be labeled a gold digger like the women in this situation are often labeled." The woman recently eased off this principled stand when she offered to sell her story to the National Enquirer for $1 million.

Douglas Harold Polk is Broken Arrow Angel Rapist? Broken Arrow Rapist Suspect Arrested

One of the saddest and most horrific stories of rape in Oklahoma's history is the rape of a 5-year-old girl known to all of us as the Broken Arrow Angel. Douglas Harold Polk, Jr. has been arrested in the case.

The little girl was kidnapped from her front yard in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma (a bedroom community adjoining Tulsa) and brutally raped around 6:30 p.m. September 20, 2007. Her parents reported her missing. About 45 minutes later, searchers found her walking along a roadside, crying with no clothes and obvious signs of a brutal sexual assault, about 7-1/2 miles from her home. Her injuries required surgery. People all over Oklahoma donated to a fund to find the cretin.

Polk was arrested on April 16th and charged with first-degree rape, domestic assault and batter, violation of a protective order. On the day of the arrest, his wife filed a protective order, stating that Polk had beaten her and threatened the family. He was investigate after the rape in 2007 and was never ruled out as a possible suspect.

Isn't the police sketch of Polk remarkedly similar? This little 5-year-old girl was able to give police an incredible description of her attacker. She told them he was fair-skinned and white, 30-40 years old, partially bald with thinning light-colored hair, with no facial hair and did not wear glasses. He was wearing red shorts and a yellow, short-sleeve T-shirt with the word "CAT" on the front.

This story deeply touched the hearts of Oklahomas. It is my hope that Douglas Harold Polk, Jr., if found guilty, gets the punishment he deserves.

Frank M. Lombard Sentenced: Duke Child Predator Frank Lombard Sentenced

Finally some news about one of the most despicable child sexual predators in history. Frank M. Lombard, the Duke University employee who adopted a child, drugged him, sodomized him, and performed other lewd and lascivious acts on camera for the benefit of another pedophile in prison, has been sentenced to 27 years and 3 months in prison. Lombard's sentence came from one charge of producing child pornography.

Lombard, and his partner Ken Shipp, also a Duke University employee, adopted two black boys - or perhaps Lombard was the only adopter. The youngest son, who was 5 years old at the time Lombard was caught, was repeatedly abused by his father. After the crime was reported, everything...all information about Lombard was shutdown, and a thinking person just couldn't help but think the silence was because this was about gay adoption.

This report says that the sentence is for "producing child pornography." What about child endangerment, what about rape, what about assault, what about dereliction of parental obligation, what about drugging a child, time after time, and what about offering his son for sex to another man. I cannot understand only the one charge. I assume there was a plea deal, but justice was not done for this little boy.

Lombard was arrested in June 2009 after an FBI sting. He pleaded guilty in December. A news report says Lombard "was charged to a federal child sex charge." He was also sentenced to lifetime supervision after leaving prison. Wonderful. We know how well "supervision" works - not well usually. These predators end up wherever they want to be. Parole officers don't have a clue. John Couey, the kidnapper, raper and murderer of little Jessica Lunsford shows the folly of thinking these beasts can live among decent people.

In recommending the sentence, U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Machen, Jr. wrote, "The defendant betrayed the trust of his adopted child in the most deplorable way imaginable. His child became nothing more than a pawn in his persistent attempts to gratify himself by sexually molesting him and chatting online with as many other pedophiles as possible.

Frank M. Lombard served as an associate director of the center for Health Policy at Duke. The university terminated his employment. According to early reports, his partner Ken Shipp did not know about the rapes, the drugging, the molestations, or the child pornography in his own home.

Earl Bradley is Pediatric Pedophile? Pediatrician Earl Bradley is a rapist?

Warning: this is a vile story. Dr. Earl Bradley is a Delaware pediatrician charged with pedophilia.  He has been indicted by a grand jury and charged with multiple acts of child rape and abuse - in what may be the worst case of pedophilia in U.S. history.

Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, the son of Vice President Joe Biden, says he expects more victims to come forward. Bradley, 46, is facing 471 separate counts of sexual assault and molestation. Over a ten year period, Bradley is believed to have raped and sexually exploited 102 girls and one boy since 1998 at the office of BayBees Pediatric in Lewes, Delaware, a community of 1300 persons.

The charges include first-degree and second-degree rape, unlawful sexual contact, sexual exploitation of a child and continuing sexual abuse of a child.

The indictment cites videos Bradley made of the various abusive incidents, which were seized from his office after investigators began looking into reports of child abuse last year.

Bradley allegedly videotaped sex acts while parents waiting in a separate room.

Among the 471-count indictment includes allegations that Bradley forced children to perform sex acts on him as recently as Dec. 13.

Some of the children were allegedly molested continuously over a series of days or months. One victim was allegedly raped by Bradley from June 2007 until February 2009, and another was molested "continuously" between November 2008 until November 2009.

 Biden said that some of the alleged victims were just months old.

The abuse of a 2-year-old girl started the investigation.

According to court documents obtained by ABCNews.com, the investigation was spurred after a 2-year-old girl told her mother that Bradley had touched her genitals and "hurt her" during a Dec. 7 appointment.

According to the child's mother, who is not named in the court documents, Bradley first examined the toddler in her presence, but then "removed the victim to the basement of the office, where a toy room is located."

The mother told authorities that she permitted her daughter to be alone with Bradley "because of his position as a doctor" and because she "trusted him."

But on the way home from the doctor the mother alleges that her daughter said Bradley had sexually abused her while they were alone in the basement. The girl's father, who had taken to her to a previous appointment with Bradley, also told authorities his daughter had made a similar complaint to him in November.

 In the small town of Lewes, with a citizenry of only 1,300, a videotape shows this 6 foot, 225-pound man yell, violently, at a two-year old, demanding the child to "perform sexual acts on him."

That particular video was described by the investigating officer in court documents as "one of the most violent and brutal attacks on a child of any age" that he had ever seen.

Biden's office is dealing with questions  as to why complaints dating from 2005 against Bradley were not taken to the State Board of Medical Practice.  An investigation is ongoing.

Earl Bradley is being held in the Vaughn Correctional Center on $2.9 million cash bond.

Taliban Siraj Haqqani Rape Tape Videos

I recently posted information via the The JAWA Report and author Brad Thor about serial rapes and murders by the Taliban's Siraj Haqqani, his physician and his uncle. At the time, I linked to a video of one of these men, presumably Siraj Haqqani raping a woman who was later murdered. See video link below.

Today, Brad Thor, writing at Big Journalism reports that the Haqqani terror network, considered "the backbone of the Taliban and al-Qaeda in the Afghanistan/Pakistan theater, is effectively under attack by conservative mullahs and mid-level Taliban inside the network.

Recently, this mid-level Taliban commander shared a chilling story with me.  He told me it was a scandal that would rock the Muslim world like nothing before and that it would “devastate” the Haqqani network.  “What Abu Ghraib was for you Americans,” he said, “this will be for the Haqqanis; only worse.”

According to Vahid Brown, a counter-terrorism instructor at West Point, the Haqqaini's were responsible for the attempted assassination of Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, the bombing of Serena Hotel in Kabul and a wave of suicide attacks at Camp Salerno, a U.S. military base.

The rapes and murders by the Haqqani's brought the outspoken wrath of at least one imam. Thor distributed the tape showing despicable acts on a young woman, with the voice of the iman calling for Islam to reject this evil (transcript).

As Siraj Haqqani moved from village to village, rounding up the sons of poor Muslim families to fight for the Taliban and Al Qaeda, he offered the villagers free medical care.  He even sent his physician, Dr. Hassan Duraz to conduct the clinics.  There was a horrific catch, though.  Duraz was a monster.

He arrived in each village with Siraj Haqqani’s uncle, Ibrahim, and Siraj’s cousin, Ishak, in tow.  With them, the Haqqanis brought along their own very special tools of terror – a video camera and an eye for human flesh.  You see, with Haqqani healthcare, you not only received a medical exam, if you were an attractive young girl, you also got a screen test.  And heaven forbid you passed.

For those women and girls unfortunate enough to catch the good doctor’s fancy, it was show time.  The Haqqani uncle and cousin would be brought into the exam room, they would set up their video equipment, and Duraz would drop his trousers and go to work.

The Haqqanis and Duraz sexually assaulted poor women throughout the tribal regions and captured every moment of their degradation and humiliation on video to enjoy over and over again.

When the rape videos, taken throughtout the region leaked, as you know they would, Siraq Haqqani murdered everyone involved - the women and even the doctor. His uncle and cousin were spared.

So now, things have changed for Siraq Haqqani and he is a monster in the midst of Islam. According to Thor, no one will chance an association with him or anyone in his family, including his father, Jalaluddin Haqqani.

Obviously, there are many Muslims, and many imams who would never condone these barbaric acts, but from my jaded viewpoint, I don't see those people being found among the Taliban. Think of the terrible assaults on women by Saddam Hussein and his loathsome son. Think of the young girls called out of classrooms to entertain them.

Children are raped all over the world by Muslim men espousing Allah. Rape is used as punishment for Muslim women in the name of honor. Once raped, they are unclean and even the women in the family foresake them. Muslim women are sold as slaves. Muslim women are beheaded. Muslim women are stoned. They are lashed and imprisoned. I doubt the Haqqaini's are much worse than the average Muslim head-of-family.

American Girl, 11, Gives Birth: Who is the Father, Why Isn't He in Jail?

An American girl, just 11-years-old has given birth to a baby boy in a "northeastern" hospital. In the article,  who impregnated her is not mentioned, or how she gave birth, but as I look at lists of very young mothers, most are by caesarean section. The remains unidentified.

The girl's mother issued this statement:

My daughter and baby are fine, and the baby is absolutely beautiful," stated the girl’s mother.

If we utilized firing squads, the following would cease to happen:

The youngest mother is believed to be only 5 years old in Peru, in 1939. Her father was arrested on suspicion of rape but was released due to lack of evidence. I wonder if DNA, today would solve this case. Yes, it would.

The youngest American girls to gives birth is believed to a 10 year old Kentuckian who gave birth to a 7.75 pound baby girl in 1834, and in 1979 a 10 year old gave birth to twins in Indianapolis. She is believed to be the youngest mother of twins.

In 2006 a 10 year old girl in South Carolina gave birth after being raped. She was molested for two years by a 26 year old man.

In 2008 a 10 year old from Idaho gave birth to a 6 pound baby. She was raped and a 37 years old man was imprisoned.

In 2002 an 11 year old Connecticut girl was raped by a 75 year old man. She gave birth to his child. The creep, of Bridgeport, CT was arrested. The child met the rapist in an Adopt-a-Godfather" program. He had a prior sexual assault conviction. No word on what happened to him.

In 2007 an 11-year-old-girl gave birth after being raped by her mother's boyfriend.

The short story is that Siraj Haqqani, his physician and his uncle are involved in the smut and murder of his own people - all in the name of providing medical care to villagers. Here’s how the Haqqani’s horror films “art” movies are put together. Siraj extorts encourages poor Muslim families to do the “right” thing according to Islam and push their sons into jihad. Duraz sets up clinics and the villagers pour in, often in desperate need of medical attention. As the “good” doctor treats them, he keeps his eyes peeled for the cute ones; the ones with that "something special" that the camera will absolutely love

An imam calls them out it. How long will he live? This  is breaking news and I suspect Thor went out on a tenuous limb for this story. It should shake things up in the Muslim world. Then pass the link on to your liberal friends. They need to know - especially feminists. Ladies, start speaking out about the deadly plight of Muslim women and children. If you have an ounce of decency, you will start talking now.

Roman Polanski Denied Bail: Polanski High Flight Risk - The Swiss Get it!

Roman Polanski has been denied bail from his Swiss prison. The Swiss get it! The man is wanted for rape, sodomy and drugging the 13-year-old girl. What's not to get? See update 10-23-09  11-26-09 below - Polanski gets bail.

This report say Polanski is seen as a "high risk of flight." No kidding. This man who has admitted to having sex with a 13-year-old has been on the run for 31 years, and protected in France where he has lived freely with his wife and children.

He [Folco Galli - Swiss justice ministry spokesman] said the risk was too great for the government to accept bail or other security measures in exchange for the release of the filmmaker.

His [Polanski's] legal representatives are also asking Switzerland's highest criminal court to free Polanski. Mr Galli said the justice ministry has submitted a letter to the tribunal explaining why it opposes release even on bail.

Two former Zurich prosecutors have said Polanski stands a minimal chance of an immediate release.

Update 10-23-09:
The U.S. has filed a formal request for Polanski's extradition from Switzerland to the U.S. and the Swiss have acknowledged receipt.

If extradition is considered admissible, Mr. Polanski will have the option of appealing the decision before the Federal Criminal Court and the Federal Supreme Court as the court of last instance.

A Swiss court earlier this week rejected Mr. Polanski's appeal to be released on house arrest, raising the likelihood that he would remain in jail pending legal proceedings over his possible extradition.

Update 11-26-09:

Roman Polanski was granted bail in the Swiss courts after a $4.49 million bail deposit, full surrender of his passport and travel documents to the Zurich police, and the donning of an electronic ankle bracelet. Polanski will spend his time guessing whether or not the Swiss will send him packing back to the U.S. to receive his punishment for the assault on Samantha Geimer, all cozied up in a Swiss chalet known as the "Milky Way." He will be confined to house arrest inside the luxury $1.6 million Alpine abode:

Even without stepping outside, Polanski's life will improve from the small detention cell he had in Zurich with a sink, toilet, television and storage compartment.

Gstaad (pronounced guh-SHTAHD) offers a range of quality restaurants and hotels, and "people here can order food to their chalets any time," said Marlene Mueller of the local tourism agency.

From the gourmet shop Pernet Comestibles, fine food such as fresh oysters, Swiss cheeses and a range of whiskies and wine can be delivered.
And, even though Polanski may now be the world's most famous fugitive, most locals are likely to leave him alone.

In the same week Roman Polanski's former wife's murderer died, the Swiss stepped-up and executed an arrest warrant for the famous film director. Thirty one years ago, Polaski fled the U.S. on charges of having sex with a 13-year-old girl, Samantha Geimer. He entered Zurich, Switzerland yesterday to receive an honorary award and was taken into custody. See update 11-26-09 below - Polanski gets bail. See 1-23-10 update below. It strikes me that today, 31 years later, raping a 13-year-old is just as abhorrent now as it was then. That is good news.

Polanski pleaded guilty in 1977 to unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. The Swiss are saying Polanski, 76, will eventually be extradited to the U.S., although his attorneys say they will attempt to "life the arrest warrant in Zurich...."

He has lived in exile in France since leaving the U.S. and according to reports, the French Culture Minister is "dumbfounded" by Polanski's plight, and he "profoundly regrets" that Polanski is "inflicted" with this ordeal - which is a jail cell in Zurich. The Swiss Director's Association is livid. According to his 13-year-old victim, Samantha Geimer, she was being photographed by Polanski at the home of Jack Nicholson, who was out of town at the time. She alleged that she was given Champagne and part of a Quaalude pill and then was raped and sodomized. This was back in the days when Nicholson was dating Angelica Huston, who is said to have been in the house when Polanski raped Geimer.

Nicholson was not at home, but his girlfriend at the time, actress Anjelica Huston, was.

According to a probation report contained in the filing, Huston described the victim as "sullen."

"She appeared to be one of those kind of little chicks between -- could be any age up to 25. She did not look like a 13-year-old scared little thing," Huston said.
She added that Polanski did not strike her as the type of man who would force himself on a young girl.

"I don't think he's a bad man," she said in the report. "I think he's an unhappy man."

Earlier this year, Geimer asked that the charge against Polanski be dismissed because the "lurid details" of her attack, continually being discussed, created trauma in her life. She is married now, has three children and lives in Kilauea, Hawaii. Geimer says she "has become a victim of the actions of the district attorney."

I'm not sure how it is helpful to attend a premier about your own rape unless you are on the side of promoting your rapist's arrest and incarceration. At the time of Polanski's first arrest, he said Geimer was sexually experienced and consented to the sex. He entered a guilty plea and was plead down from 6 counts of rape, and the possibility of life in prison. His attorneys believed a deal had been struck for Polanski to spend only days in prison:

But the original judge in the case, who is now dead, first sent the director to maximum-security prison for 42 days while he underwent psychological testing. Then, on the eve of his sentencing, the judge told attorneys he was inclined to send Polanski back to prison for another 48 days.

I think authorities got this one right. The rape of any 13-year-old cannot go unpunished, and living in France is not punishment. Spending a total of 90 days in prison for this offense is a sad commentary on the court's view of rape. Polanski has been offered the possibility of a dismissal but is required to show-up at court in the U.S. to receive it, and fearing arrest, he has not been willing to do so. In the case of rape of a minor, the name should never be disclosed. Had Samantha Geimer's name been kept private, she would not be suffering from media attention today. Having said that, Geimer has received a "settlement" from Polanski and it appears she "outed" herself:

She long ago came forward and made her identity public -- mainly, she said, because she was disturbed by how the criminal case had been handled.

Roman Polanski married Emmanuelle Seigner in 1989. They have two children: a daughter Morgane and a son, Elvis. Polanski was born in Paris, France. His father was a Polish Jew and his mother a Russian native who was brought up Catholic. Polanski's maternal grandmother was Catholic and his maternal grandfather was Jewish.

Polanski received an Oscar in 2002 for Directing - one of my favorite movies, The Pianist. Other movies he directed are Chinatown, Rosemary's Baby, Oliver Twist and Tess.

Polanski's wife, Sharon Tate, was murdered in 1969 by Susan Denice Atkins, a member of the Manson Family. Their unborn child died also. Atkins remained incarcerated at the time of her death this week of brain cancer. Atkins was the longest-incarcerated female in the California prison system.

A South Carolina man had sex with Barbara Kenley's horse, Sugar, and no one knows how many times. She caught him on Thanksgiving Day 2007, found Vereen curled up asleep in Sugar's stall, with Sugar. He was arrested, charged with buggery, sentenced to 3 year's probation and added to the South Carolina sex offender list. Rodell Vereen had piled some dirt behind the horse, pulled up a stool and...and he upset the horse, but the horse couldn't tell on 49 year-old Rodell. A few weeks ago, Ms. Kenley, Conway, S.C. noticed that things didn't seem quite right in her stables, again. Sugar was nervous and acting strange. Besides that, Sugar was getting infections "again." Dirt was again piled-up and bales of hay were nearby. Kenley knew it was Vereen, because...who else would.... She notified the police and they said it couldn't be the same guy. At the same time, she could not believe there could be two men in the area raping horses, and particularly her horse, Sugar. The Lazy B Stables where Sugar lives is about 4 miles from Kenley's home. She staked-out the place for a number of night but nothing happened. She finally installed surveillance cameras and on July 19th she got Rodell Vereen on tape, once again, taking advantage of Sugar. She leveled her shotgun at him, chased him to his truck and held him until the police arrived"

"He said he wasn't there to do anything, and I said, 'I know you were. I have you on tape.' And then he said he was sorry if he hurt me," Kenley said.

Police charged Rodell of Longs, S.C. with trespassing, until they watched the surveillance tape, and then they added the buggery charge once again. This time there is no probation for Vereen, or at least not yet. Mr. Vereen's family says he has had mental problems for years and may be off of his meds. Bail is set at $30,000.00. U.S. Supreme Court Justices - Retaining Integrity

Living in the rarefied air of Washington D.C. as a Congressman, Senator or Supreme Court Justice, makes it difficult to stick to your claimed principles. Lobbyists and powerful activists may live next door or down the street. A simple lunch in a local restaurant, cocktail parties, your daughter's soccer game - everything in daily life exposes the "mighty" among political servants to political pressures. How do they "mingle" with their community and stay true to the core beliefs they professed - the "professions" that got them the job in the first place? The answer is, in all-to-many cases, they do not. While Congressmen and Senators may be voted out of office, Supreme Court Justices are appointed for life. How difficult it must be to sit on the highest court in the land and uphold a private person's right to keep the land they own. How difficult it must be to protect America's sovereignty when you adore everything European and see Europe as "the" desirable model for this country. It is not only difficult to reside in Washington D.C. and retain political integrity, integrity seldom seems to be a goal. Power is the goal, and the extremely liberal social environment of our Nation's capital breeds power as well as the mongers seeking to use that power to control you and me; seeking to protect us from everything but their principle-less decisions and laws. Doug Patton makes a case for reducing the court to perhaps, just Justice Roberts "reading briefs at a card table in his chambers...." I don't think one Justice is the answer, and I don't think Mr. Patton does either, but for the privilege of sitting on the U.S. Supreme Court, Congress might mandate Justices to live in middle America, and NEVER attend a social function in our Nation's capital, especially at the invitation of a lobbyist, a Corporation or Congress.

New Oversight of Supreme Court Needed By Doug Patton June 30, 2008

My old boss, U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, one of the few non-lawyers on the House Judiciary Committee, used to tell me about how Congress has the power to regulate the federal courts. "Constitutionally, we could reduce the Supreme Court to the Chief Justice sitting in his chambers at a card table if we wanted to," he would say. I thought of that unused congressional authority as I pondered why it is that the Supreme Court tends to pull its members to the left. In recent decades, from Abe Fortas and Thurgood Marshall, appointed by Lyndon Johnson in the 1960s, to Clinton appointees Stephen Breyer and Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the 1990s, liberal Democrats are rarely disappointed in the left-wing positions of their appointees on virtually every issue. Not so with justices appointed by Republican presidents. Certainly there are reliable minds on the court that can be trusted with the strict interpretation of the constitution. Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas have proven themselves worthy of our respect in that regard. Similarly, Chief Justice John Roberts and Associate Justice Samuel Alito are slowly building a reputation for eschewing judicial activism and for defending the concept of original intent. But Republican nominees frequently fail to live up to the hopes of those who believe in strict adherence to the Founders' constitutional intentions. In modern times, perhaps the biggest disappointments began with former California Governor Earl Warren, a Republican appointed by President Dwight Eisenhower to serve as Chief Justice. Richard Nixon's appointments of Warren Burger and Harry Blackmun were a disaster. Both men voted in the majority on the most infamous Supreme Court ruling of the 20th Century, 1973's Roe vs. Wade, with Blackmun writing the majority opinion. The result is forty million Americans aborted. David Souter, appointed by President George H. W. Bush, has so abandoned any semblance of conservative jurisprudence that he is now counted consistently with Ginsburg, Breyer and John Paul Stevens on the left end of the court. Two Reagan appointees, Sandra Day O'Connor and Anthony Kennedy, turned into two of the biggest disappointments of the era. O'Connor's left turn culminated two important recent cases, Carhart vs. Stenberg and Lawrence vs. Texas. The Carhart case struck down Nebraska's ban on partial birth abortion. Lawrence created a constitutional right to sodomy, thereby throwing the door open wide for the movement to legalize same-sex marriage. With O'Connor now retired, Kennedy is widely considered to be the court's "swing vote." But increasingly, Kennedy's decisions are viewed as activist liberal votes.
