Bill Clinton Goes Rogue: Bill Clinton Backs Incumbent Challenger to White House Pick

Bill Clinton has gone rogue and endorsed Andrew Romanoff, the Democrat challenger to Colorado's Senator Michael Bennet. Romanoff has been in the news lately, as he says the White House offered him other jobs if he would drop his challenge to Bennet. Don't confuse these claims of White House bribes with Joe Sestak. Romanoff is the second claim of such illegal shenanigans.

Andrew Romanoff

This report says Romanoff is the first candidate Bill Clinton has endorsed since leaving the White House. While Clinton didn't endorse Senator Blanche Lincoln, he campaigned with her, and is credited with giving her a second chance to come up for air and face the Republican candidate in November.
A SurveyUSA poll taken this month suggested that Mr. Romanoff has an uphill battle against Mr. Bennet, who was appointed to his seat after Ken Salazar became Interior Secretary. Mr. Bennet registered 52 per cent support in the poll compared to just 36 per cent for Mr. Romanoff.
So for Bill Clinton to step out and endorse a candidate who is not an incumbent is huge mammoth when you consider the White House did everything they could to remove Andrew Romanoff from the horizon of the U.S. Senate. Things must be getting a bit testy for Hillary.
Andrew brings to this race both an extraordinary record of public service and an extraordinary capacity to lead. I believe that those assets, as well as his deep commitment to Colorado, give him the best chance to hold this seat in November," Mr. Clinton wrote. "I support Andrew Romanoff, and I hope you will too."
Don't forget, Obama sent Bill Clinton to Rep. Joe Sestak to make the illegal bribe, which Sestak did not take, but spilled to the press. Romanoff has already received his bribes and refused them.

If Bill can pull this off, he and Hillary will seriously be considering another White House run in 2010. It is always about Bill, and going rogue for Bill Clinton is nothing new.

David Benke Tackles Gunman at Deer Creek Middle School: Bruco Strongeagle Eastwood is Colorado School Shooter?

A man with a "big gun" appeared on the school ground at Deer Creek Middle School in Littleton, Colorado as students prepared to board an after-school bus. Allegedly, Bruco Strongeagle Eastwood shot two students before math teacher, Dr. David Benke, tackled and disarmed him. One student remains in critical condition this morning. See a video below.

Dr. David Benke - Deer Creek Middle School

Two students were injured: Matt Thieu, 14, received a gunshot wound to the chest. Reagan Weber, 13, was shot in the arm. Matt Thieu is in critical condition. Ms. Weber was treated and released from the Littleton Adventist Hospital. Thie was transferred to Children's Hospital in Denver.

Eastwood, 32, is a convicted felon and is believed to be a former student at Deer Creek Middle School. A yearbook photo shows Bruco Eastwood in 1992. He has a long rap sheet including arrests for domestic violence, DUI, motor vehicle theft and "menacing. His father, War Eagle Eastwood says his son has led a troubled life and "hears voices," and talks back to the voices.
According to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, he has been arrested at least nine times. Besides intermittent stints in jail, he has lived in Hudson, Commerce City and Federal Heights, records show.
Eastwood also has been a defendant in civil lawsuits, including one in which his horses roamed onto Interstate 76 and caused an accident with injuries.
Steve Potter, a Deer Creek bus drive witnessed Dr. Benke taking the shooter down, and rushed to help.

Dr. Benke was out there at the time the school was being let out. It looked to me like he heard the shot and decided to react accordingly," Steve Potter told FOX31 News. "There was a little bit of a wresting match for about 5 seconds or so," before Benke had disarmed the gunman, Potter said.
Potter, who also helped subdue the gunman after Benke tackled him, said the suspect was rambling incoherently as they held him down.
"He was uttering some obscenities here and there, but nothing that made a whole lot of sense to me."
Updates on the Deer Creek shootings as available.

FBI Fox News Talk Radio: FBI Marie in Los Angeles: Rush Limbaugh Caller FBI Los Angeles

I don't often hear Rush Limbaugh completely surprised - beyond his wildest dreams. Marie in Los Angeles rendered Rush stunned. Prediction: The Los Angeles FBI office received a phone call from Rham Emanuel yesterday after Marie's call aired. Everyone in the office has been demoted, pay cut and a White House FBI Czar is flying to LA today to take over the operation. Can Obama pull-off a prime time press conference denouncing Marie in Los Angeles? Stay tuned.

Rush Limbaugh

 Marie said she called Congress:
MARIE: Who do you talk to when you can't trust the top people? You know, I called the FBI, and you know what they told me?
RUSH:  No.

CALLER:  They said, "Watch Fox cable and listen to talk radio," and then I called another time --

RUSH:  Wait a minute! Wait a minute. Wait. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.  Whoa, whoa, whoa.  Back up.  You called the FBI?

CALLER:  Well, I wanted to find out what was going on with ACORN, the 14 states that they had arrested these people.

RUSH:  What FBI office did you call?

CALLER:  Los Angeles.

RUSH:  And they told you to listen to Fox News and talk radio?

CALLER:  Talk radio.

RUSH:  To find out what was going on?

CALLER:  Yes.  And the next time I called you know what they said?

RUSH:  No.

CALLER:  "Listen to talk radio and watch Glenn Beck."  And they said, "We all watch Glenn Beck."

RUSH:  That's what they told you at the FBI?

CALLER:  Exactly.  And so when I wanted to find out what was going on they said, "Call the Justice Department."  Well if you can't trust the Justice Department, who do you talk to?  Who do you talk to? You can't trust the top. I called John Boehner, because he's the one you can really talk to. I said, "You've got to tell them that Obama is going after the Internet and talk radio.  They've gotta stop it."

RUSH:  And what did he say?

CALLER:  Well, I talked to the office. They said, "Yeah, we know what's going on," and when I called the FBI they said, "We know what's going on, but we can't do anything because the Secret Service will say they're in charge."  This is what's going on right now.

RUSH:  You know what, folks?  I feel like I'm in that balloon flying over Colorado.

Obama Health Care Lies: Obama - "Keep Your Health Care Coverage"

The lies straight out of President Obama's mouth continued yesterday at the Townhall in Grand Junction, Colorado.

"If you like your health care plan you keep it ... I don't want government meddling in your health care plan but then again I don't want insurance company bureaucrats meddling in your health care."
According to the House Bill, your right to private health care is "grandfathered in." That means you have no right to private coverage unless you already had it before the Bill became effective: Here's the explanation and then the exact wording from the House Bill: Page 16, Sec. 102 PROTECTING THE CHOICE TO KEEP CURRENT COVERAGE (a): says that your private health care coverage will be "grandfathered in." That means that while this coverage is outside the mainstream of the bill, we will accept your private health care under certain, special conditions. Those special conditions do not include changing jobs. If you change jobs, moving from a company that provides your health care for you, to another company that also provides health care for employees, you are not allowed to partake of the "other" companies health care, because you were not employed there before the first day the Obama plan became effective. Those conditions, as laid out on page 16, further clarified: 1) The company providing you the health care insurance, before the first effective day of the Obama plan, may continue to provide you with health care. 2) As of the first effective day of the Obama plan, NO ONE can be added to your company's plan. If your company has new hires, they must take the government option. Your company can never again provide health care for a new hire after the first effective day of the Obama plan. No company...anywhere...can ever again provide private health care for employees. Private health care is over for EVERYONE, except Congress retirees, including union retirees, and their families and perhaps community organizers, described in the Bill as "voluntary beneficiaries," all of whom are protected from the Obama plan (Page 65). I'm not sure what "voluntary beneficiaries" refers to. Perhaps employees not in a traditional health care plan within their company - maybe they fund a plan on their own, grouped with other employees, to pay for health care? Or maybe this is a reference to "volunteers." Perhaps those working for an organization like AmeriCorp or ACORN? If you have any thoughts on this, please leave them in the comments section. To be clear: an employee on a company's private health care plan, before the first day the Obama plan becomes effective, can keep his/her company-provided private health care...until he/she leaves the employ of the company, or until the company decides it will no longer provide private insurance to its employees. To be clear: if you join a company already providing private health care insurance to its employees, and your hire-date is on or after the first day the Obama plan takes effect, you cannot be a part of that company-provided health care. You must be a part of the Obama plan. There is no other choice for you. Here is the exact text of the bill, Page 16, lines 1 - 16.
SEC. 102. PROTECTING THE CHOICE TO KEEP CURRENT COVERAGE. (a) GRANDFATHERED HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE DEFINED.—Subject to the succeeding provisions of this section, for purposes of establishing acceptable coverage under this division, the term ‘‘grandfathered health insurance coverage’’ means individual health insurance coverage that is offered and in force and effect before the first day of Y1 if the following conditions are met: (1) LIMITATION ON NEW ENROLLMENT.—(A) IN GENERAL.—Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enrollany individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first 16 day of Y1.
To be clear, President Obama lied in the Grand Junction Townhall on August 15th. The text of the Bill without page numbers is here. Section (SEC) numbers are give. For instance, for the above example, just scroll to SEC. 102. Here is a link to the pdf of the Bill, with page numbers. Ward Churchill Plagerism Upheld: CU Free to Deny Churchill a Classroom

Colorado University professor Ward Churchill was fired in 2007 for plagiarism and "other research misconduct allegations." Of course, Churchill took it to the courts claiming wrongful termination.

Ward Churchill
In April a jury ruled that Churchill's firing was "politically motivated." Yesterday District Court Judge Larry J. Naves said that Colorado University (CU) does not have to rehire Ward Churchill, nor do they have to pay him monetary damages. While there is little doubt that Churchill will appeal, Ross Kaminsky writing for Human Events says that the Judge Naves' ruling doesn't "overrule" but it "vacates" the April ruling and is "all but bullet-proof." Churchill was a former Ethnic Studies professor. In charging research misconduct, the University upheld Churchill's First and Fourteenth Amendment guaranteeing free speech, so the publishing of the essays was not a part of the charges "and played absolutely no role in its deliberations." Churchill, a professor of Ethnic Studies, accused the University of discrimination "due in part to his controversial left-wing views." In defense the University pointed out that Churchill has received public attention due to his outspoken controversial statements, and thus the "serious claims of academic misconduct have been lodged and they require full investigation," in contrast to another academics publications that may garner no interest. They offered this analogy:
A motorist who is stopped and ticketed for speeding because the police officer was offended by the contents of her bumper sticker, and who otherwise would have been sent away with a warning, is still guilty of speeding, even if the officer's motive for punishing the speeder was the offense taken to the speeder's exercise of her right to free speech.
It is clear that the University's focus is not free speech but, maybe, outlandish and unfounded claims made in Churchill's published work. It gets complicated but it if you care to read it you will be able to understand it. Find in the link below to Ross Kamisky. Kaminsky reports that Colorado University's former president, Hank Brown, said that public support was "absolutely critical in keeping the university from caving in. " I found it shocking that a University won on a point that would keep a tenured professor out of the classroom, because you know how difficult it is to keep an academic from abusing a classroom. The good people of Colorado offered their support and gave the University the cover and courage to do what was right.
Beyond the great news that a violence-promoting fraud will no longer be warping the minds of University of Colorado students, this episode has had an important longer-term positive impact: a much-needed overhaul of the University’s system of tenure for professors. As Caplis said in a note of triumph, “Churchill’s fraud was so blatant and so contrary to the fundamental credibility of the institution that it forced people across ideological lines to recognize that something needed to be done.”
You can read Kamisky's commentary and view the pdfs here. This is a comprehensive piece on Churchill and all that has happened since his firing.
