My time on the computer has been short the last few days. If I had written about "Obama on The View," this is what I would have wanted to write, but could not have, because Reaganite Republican has a unique way with words. Read the quintessential "Obama on the View" at The Reaganite Republican.

West Point is Enemy Camp? Cool Audience for Obama? Chris Matthews Enemy Video

The West Point cadets were quietly respectful as the President spoke tonight. Not once did I see a head nod in agreement. There was no rousing or resounding applause for the mission laid out ahead. This had to apparent to anyone paying attention, but this is how MSNBC's Liberal hack Chris Matthews saw it - and he saw West Point as "the enemy camp:"

Matthews said, “He went to maybe the enemy camp tonight to make his case. I mean, that’s where Paul Wolfowitz used to write speeches for, back in the old Bush days. That’s where he went to rabble rouse the “we’re going to democratize the world” campaign back in ‘02. So, I thought it was a strange venue.”

 Only a far-leftist would see West Point as a strange venue for a war speech.

NRO's Kathryn Jean Lopez said a "shameful low" was reached tonight when Matthews referred to West Point as an "enemy camp." Lopez received, and published, an email which puts tonight's audience in perspective:

Whether out of professionalism (the vast majority of cadets) or fear of punishment (the rest of them), the Corps of Cadets would never be disrespectful to the Commander-in-Chief.  In fact, West Point may be the only place in America where President Obama can simultaneously trash George W. Bush and announce an increase in troop levels in Afghanistan and not be booed from the right or the left.

Nostalgia for Cronkite: How Cronkite Changed America

My last and most vivid memory of Walter Cronkite is Bill and Hillary Clinton on the Cronkite yacht. That coverage made a impression on me. I never forgot it, probably because it was a turbulent time for America. When I heard of Mr. Cronkite's death, I remembered those photographs and the media coverage - it was huge. The photo below is from August 25, 1998 and the photo caption said the location is "near Edgartown, Mass." I do not have nostalgia for Cronkite, although the remembrances have been interesting. Everyone who is "anyone" wants to tell their story of Walter Cronkite to one of America's current important anchors. The stories would be important if the real stories, or perhaps all the stories were told, which would lead us to how Cronkite changed America.

The photo above is less than month after Monica Lewinsky delivered her semen-stained blue dress to Ken Starr. On August 17th President Bill Clinton admitted his "improper physical relationship" with Lewinsky and that evening he addressed the Nation. Eleven days later, Walter Cronkite took Clinton under his wing and offered respectability from the "most trusted man in America." JoshuaPundit at Watcher of Weasels remembers Walter Cronkite and his contribution to the Viet Nam War...remembers the disinformation, and the "abandonment of any semblance of journalistic ethics," and then links to a John Podhoretz piece at Commentary Magazine.

Cronkite didn’t know what he was talking about when it came to Tet, as the late Peter Braestrup demonstrated in his colossal expose of the scandalous media coverage of the battle, Big Story. But he knew that among the people who mattered to him, and who were the leading edge of ideological fashion, Tet was a failure because the war in Vietnam was bad, and he took to the airwaves to say so.

Emanuel Carville Begala Stephanopoulos: The Gang of Four

The President's Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, rendevous' with the most Liberal of Liberal pundits - every morning, and these four have hooked-up nearly every morning for 17 years. The Gang of Four are all employed by MSNBC, ABC or Barack Obama. James Carville - MSNBC, Paul Begala - MSNBC and George Stephanopoulus - ABC. That's a conference call coming out of, or into, the highest level of the White House...to or from the media - every morning! And Obama whines about Limbaugh! A Politico article describes what each of these pundits bring to the conversation each morning, and the characterizations first indicate that each man has his own strengths and areas of expertise. Carville's wife, Republican strategist Mary Matalin, says it's like listening to "girl talk." Right. Al Hunt, Bloomberg's Washington Bureau Chief says he talks to Carville almost daily, and of the 17-year conference call, he says:

there's rarely more than one degree of separation between them," - no matter any subject in the news. There is no parallel, he said, to a group of friends who has remained so central to the daily shaping of Washington conversation as these Clinton-era comrades.

Begala hints at the truth:

Still, the line between journalism and politics is not always bright. Begala said he often can’t remember the originator of any particular insight: “We talk so much — was this my idea that James changed, or was this George’s observation that Rahm tweaked?”

I guess it would be wrong of me to assume that Carville, Begala, Stephanopoulos et al might hold back critical information gleemed from their insider, Rahm Emanuel - like something damaging to the President, or dangerous to the Nation, - something like Iran BEING nuclear, sooner rather than later? I guess it would be wrong of me to assume that Rahm Emanuel might provide highly sensitive information to these three bastions of Liberal verbosity, information or hints that deserve no spin when they do come out - something like Iran BEING nuclear? I guess it would be wrong of me to assume that the Gang of Four controls the news at MSNBC and ABC?

Before Clinton ran for his second term in 1996, Meissner [Administrator of the Immigration & Naturalization Service (INS)] ensured that hundreds of thousands of illegals were fraudulently legalized, just in time to vote for the Clintons.

Lewis points to Congressman Rahm Emanuel (D-IL), "the 2006 Democrat Congressional takeover" and Al Gore as being "intimately involved with this massive Democrat immigration fraud...."

After the Clinton's and Gore took the White House, quoting a David Schippers piece in the WSJ:

The U.S. got 75,000 new citizens who had arrest records when they applied; an additional 115,000 citizens whose fingerprints were unclassifiable and were never resubmitted; and a final 61,000 who were given citizenship without even having their fingerprints submitted so that no check was possible...

Then this all too often forgotten reminder:

Oh, and by the way, Mohammed Atta was found and released twice by the INS for immigration violations. Before he knocked down the Twin Towers and killed 3,000 Americans.

While reporting from the streets of Caracas, Fox News' Adam Housley responds to Neil Cavuto's guest, NYC Councilman Charles Barron(D). As Barron dismisses any consideration of Chavez' recent actions as anything less than admirable, and accuses Housley of not reporting fairly, Housely levels him with "fair and balanced" accounts of his coverage of both protests and counter-protests.

Barron, a former member of the Harlem branch of the Black Panther Party, is baldly revealed to not have a clue.

Hasselbeck and Rosie Exchange "Forgiveness" Emails - Darn!

On The View today, Elisabeth Hasselbeck admits that, this past weekend, she and Rosie exchanged emails discussing "forgiveness." I'm trying to remember what it was that Elizabeth needed forgiving. The duo was discussing important issues last week, such as "America is the terrorist" in Iraq (Rosie's view) or "America is not the terrorist in Iraq" (Elizabeth's view). If Rosie was asking for forgiveness, then of course, that makes sense because Rosie has the juvenile and mean-spirited manner of not "fighting fair." She attempted not to fight fair that day, and you can't blame her, because it works for her, usually. If Elisabeth was asking for forgiveness, then she has lost any legitimacy she had with me because, well, that's just lame. She is a grown-up. She did a grown-up's job...what she was paid to do, and she did it with integrity that day. She was mad, said what she wanted to say and didn't let Rosie get away with her sanctified death stare - willing Hasselbeck to shut-up. If they were both seeking forgiveness, then we just don't need to hear about it. It ruins Elisabeth's triumph, as well as those of us who really didn't care all that much, but naturally wanted Elisabeth to prevail, because, hey - we're talking about our troops here. Sigh! Russians Mourn the Loss of Free Press

In Russia, the people silently mourn the murder of their democracy at the hands of President Vladimir Putin. After the killing of beloved Russian journalist, Anna Politkovskaya in 2006, the International Herald Tribune put it this way:

I am convinced that her killer was, first and foremost, the paucity of freedoms in Russia. The lack of freedom killed freedom - this is where the sad logic of her killing comes from, no matter who is behind it.

Lack of freedom spawns lawlessness: Russia has fostered numerous vindictive, unpunished people indignant that someone dares to point a finger at them and to say that their actions are criminal. At the same time, authoritarian power always fragments into clans, and the accusations of an independent journalist can be a priceless weapon in the battle of clans or for the liquidation of political rivals.

And then this:

Hundreds of people who came to say farewell to Anna looked not only crushed, but also helpless. The mourners were shown their real place, as people without rights, who will be told only what the authorities want them to know.

And this::

...at least twelve journalists have been killed in contract-style slayings. No one has been brought to justice in eleven of the twelve cases.

Public Corruption, What to do?

Public Corruption – What to Do? By Jim Simpson New revelations about Republican ties to convicted influence-peddler Jack Abramoff have brought to the fore once again the unfortunate specter of public corruption as two congressmen, John T. Doolittle (R-CA) and Rick Renzi (R-AZ) were forced off their respective committees when it came to light they were under FBI investigation. It is a sad and by now all too familiar story. It is also infuriating because as a former White House budget analyst, I know full well that the kind of influence peddling highlighted in the Abramoff scandals is only noteworthy because Mr. Abramoff and his conservative clients got caught. Congressional Democrats have built this kind of influence-peddling system into a well-oiled machine. It is what keeps them going. With Republicans it is a criminal action. With Democrats it is business-as-usual. Even when caught red-handed, like Rep. William Jefferson (D-LA), with $90,000 cash in his freezer, or Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, with his blatantly corrupt land deal, they routinely slime their way out of it. While these stories did make their way into the media, “investigative” journalists seem to lose their ardor quickly when the target is one of their beloved fellow democrats, and the stories tend to die of neglect, or as with Harry Reid, get spun in the lawmaker’s favor. In this situation, “investigative” journalism and “aggressive” law enforcement contributes to public corruption rather than preventing it. For if one party can manage to get away with it all the time, as the Democrats do, then going after the other party can only be seen as an exercise in power politics. That is, the law becomes merely a weapon used to eliminate political opponents rather than a standard by which all public officials must live. The Democrats' media and law enforcement friends in effect have become just another extension of the party. That is endemic public corruption defined. I know what you’re thinking. “We all know about leftist media bias; that’s a given; but federal law enforcement? Come on!” you say. Think again. As a budgeter for law enforcement agencies in both the elder Bush and Clinton administrations, I saw daily how law enforcement agencies became slavish lap dogs for favored Congressional and Senatorial appropriators. They work hard to please and impress, and love it when one of their operations gets highlighted in the press. For example, as I asserted in a 1995 Washington Times article, I believe that the Branch Davidian fiasco at Waco, TX was originally caused by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms’ desire to impress Congress with a big bust and thereby get the budgetary attention they felt they deserved. In that case they got more than they bargained for. But Congress spendeth and Congress taketh away. Agencies thus develop over time a symbiotic relationship with Congressmen and Senators, helping to deliver votes by hiring agents in needy districts, throwing contracts to favored states and districts, etc. This is the real pork spending and there are few components of the federal budget that are not part of it. “Okay,” you respond. “That sounds plausible. But why should federal law enforcement agencies favor Democrats? Weren’t Republicans in charge of both houses for much of the past twelve years?” Not really. Two reasons: 1. the sad fact is that all federal agencies are disproportionately peopled by democrats, the vast majority being liberal democrats. I would guess the ratio at the very least is 80% - 20% democrat/republican. If you remove DoD, it is probably closer to 95% democrat. This is not entirely surprising. Democrats philosophically have much greater faith in government as a vehicle for social progress than republicans. Democrats are also much more ideologically driven, and recognize that packing agencies with their own kind is a strategy in its own right. That is a reason many democrat political appointees try to hang on to executive jobs when administrations change hands. Democrats are also much more likely to use ideological tests when hiring civil servants for key positions, despite the fact that it violates federal law. Republicans, on the other hand, have a much greater faith in American free enterprise than our democratic counterparts. Despite Howard Dean’s blatantly dishonest slur, most republicans earn their money in private business and are not predisposed in any way toward government service, except perhaps in the military. For the most part such machinations as described above wouldn’t even occur to them, and Republicans are really only just beginning to catch on to the Democrats’ game. Second, like their agency counterparts, Democrat politicians not only believe in government as a vehicle for change, they believe it is the only vehicle for change. It is all, repeat, ALL about control. They arrogate to themselves the right to use whatever methods necessary to deliver them the power necessary. They place democrat operatives in key agency positions and fight to keep them there. They create bureaucracies immune from budget cuts, supervision, or even significant policy changes and fight savagely to keep it that way. They send out aggressive prosecutors on witch hunts with the express goal of smearing Republican opponents, especially effective ones, like Tom Delay. They sick sympathetic prosecutors on Republican presidential appointees over frivolous or invented charges, knowing that even when the charges are ultimately dropped, their adversaries have been forced to exhaust time and money defending themselves in court. During the Clinton administration, Hillary even used trumped up charges against completely innocent White House travel office employees, simply so she could stock the office with friends of hers. The Travel Office for God's sake! Lifelong employees of modest incomes were forced to defend themselves against a cabal of professional hatchetmen. Where was Hillary's compassion for the little guy there? Democrats truly believe they can do anything. They do not believe the word “corruption” can even apply to them, since, according to Marx’s famous dictum, they only recognize that morality which furthers their cause. Thus, despite their blatant cronyism, nepotism and corruption, that I would argue goes right over the border into sedition, both Bill Clinton and more recently Nancy Pelosi, boldly pronounced that they would lead “the most ethical” administration and Congress respectively, in history. I’m sure they still believe it. Agencies work against Republicans, in sometimes subtle, other times not-so-subtle ways, because having their own party back in power usually appeals to both ideological and self-serving calculations. Even those agency leaders not ideologically predisposed to leftist policies know that Democrats are the party to please because of their organizational skills, penetration in depth of all levels of government and ruthless approach to politics. Bureaucrats know that once firmly back in the saddle, Democrats will open the money spigot in ways that would impress even the most profligate Republican spendthrift. Indeed, with their new PAYGO rules in place, and now muzzling the Congressional Research Service’s reporting on earmarks, the Democrat Congress is set up to do just that. And while there may be corruption in both Parties today, wait and see how bad things get if the Democrats have their way and Republicans once again become an impotent minority. If you recall, it was largely Democrat corruption that finally lost them Congress the last time. Lest we forget: those corrupt Democrats who missed the axe last time are the ones in charge now. As I said last November 8th, the 2006 elections were a disaster of epic proportions. While some Republican congressmen allowed themselves to be seduced by the system, the entire national democrat party is corrupt beyond salvaging. With a Republican majority, we as taxpayers got a temporary reprieve from the destructive, self-serving policies always pursued and once again being prepared for us by the new majority. If the current leadership has not made this fact completely transparent to you, then either you are on drugs, or you come from another planet. Republicans must grab the initiative and retake Congress. President Bush must come out of his rabbit hole and confront these criminals head on. We are literally tottering at the abyss. The Democrat majority is today pulling out all the stops to destroy this administration, even if it means endangering our troops and losing a war. Meanwhile they are preparing a destructive socialist agenda to impose on us, while flagrantly engaging in the unethical behavior they so hypocritically accuse Republicans of. They are aided and abetted by a sympathetic bureaucracy, while their media cronies run interference and cover their tails. Through it all their belligerence makes unmistakably clear that there is no room for debate, compromise or moderation. Either you are with them, or you are an outcast - an alien in your own country. With their arrogant, slanderous slurs and kleptocratic plans they inflame the very divisions their destructive policies initially created and push our entire society closer and closer to anarchy. In an earlier draft of this article, published prematurely by mistake at New Media Journal, I wistfully suggested that the President exercise his power to declare martial law and arrest the lot of them. But that it were so. While the President does have the constitutional authority to declare martial law during times of war and insurrection, he does not appear to have the legal authority to summarily arrest members of Congress. Too bad… But that puts us in a real quandary. For once in his life, Al Gore was correct when he said “there is no controlling legal authority…” Who polices Congress when it runs amuck as it surely has today? Who arrests traitors using the halls of Congress to shield and facilitate their nefarious activities? Who defends us from a nationwide subversive conspiracy, coordinated by powerful politicians and Wall Street billionaires? Are we approaching that point when we will have to take matters into our own hands? To paraphrase Jefferson, will the tree of liberty have to be refreshed with the blood of tyrants and patriots? Will the true purpose of the 2nd Amendment finally come to the fore? As early Supreme Court justice Joseph Story succinctly put it (emphasis mine):

The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered, as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them...

I hope it doesn’t come to that. But corruption is a deadly disease, and when the body politic is shot through with it, a nation, even a great one like ours, cannot long survive. We will be pushed, pulled and torn apart until one of two things happens. Either a tyrant, homegrown or foreign, will seize the opportunity and take the reins of government, or the people, recognizing at last the danger, will rise up and conclusively demonstrate that an armed republic cannot be so abused. Jim Simpson is a businessman, free-lance writer and former White House staff economist and budget analyst who among other duties, oversaw budgets of Treasury Department law enforcement agencies.

Rove, Crow, Science & Specious Speech

Sheryl Crow and Laurie David are blogging on The Huffington Post about their "introduction" to Karl Rove. The girls quote their own polite, intriguing and completely guileless questions to Rove but...only two actual quotes from him...lots of their characterization of him, however. Girls, that's not fair. Sheryl, take note: your actual quotes...your very words, were quoted everywhere yesterday. That's the fair and professional way to report. You are the beneficiary of accurate reporting. The only actual quotes from Karl Rove were: Says the girls:

...Sheryl reached out to touch his arm.

Says Rove:

"Don't touch me."

Says the girls:

How hardened and removed from reality must a person be to refuse to be touched by Sheryl Crow?...You can't speak to us like that, you work for us.

Says Rove:

I don't work for you, I work for the American people.

Had Karl Rove approached "the girls," he would have been accused of being aggressive and threatening. The girls are interested in their agenda, their opinion, the opinion of their experts - no other experts. My question: How hardened and removed from reality must you be to think that only you, and your handpicked scientists know all there is to know - about the planet Earth? FoxNews.com reported on a Rolling Stone cover piece on global warming touting the "25 Warriors and Heroes" of global warming. A short precise rebuttal is printed in the Fox piece from Steven Milloy of JunkScience.com:

Rolling Stone calls NASA scientist James Hansen the “Paul Revere” of global warming as it was Hansen who famously sounded the alarm about global warming in his 1988 testimony before Congress. But Dr. Hansen’s predictions of global temperature increases have also been famously wrong. While Dr. Hansen predicted a 0.34 degrees Centigrade rise in average global temperatures during the 1990s, actual surface temperatures rose by only one-third as much (0.11 degrees Centigrade) and lower atmosphere temperatures actually declined. At least the real Paul Revere was right -- the British did come.

And this:

Dr. Robert Watson is extolled as “The Messenger” by Rolling Stone. Watson is lauded for leading the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in concluding that humans have already warmed the planet and that the Earth’s temperature will rise by as much as 10 degrees Fahrenheit by 2100. But as pointed out in this column previously, the sort of crystal ball climate modeling that the IPCC report relies on has never been validated against historical temperatures, so it’s difficult to take its predictions of future temperatures too seriously. As chairman of the IPCC, Watson was responsible for propagating the myth that only 1 or 2 percent of scientists did not believe humans were responsible for global warming. Watson, of course, overlooked at least 17,000 scientists who signed a petition cautioning against global warming alarmism – a petition compiled with the assistance of former National Academy of Sciences (NAS) president Dr. Frederick Seitz.

The article goes on to point out the flaws of other Rolling Stone "Warriors and Heroes," well-known as "experts:" Dr. Ralph Cicerone for "facing down" global warming skeptics, Dr. Robert Corell - referred to by Rolling Stone as "The Tide Turner," and the "polar bear scare," and Amory Lovins, the "Visionary," an advocate for the use of hydrogen fuel cells, but rebuttals claim manipulation of his math. To the characterizations of Karl Rove, rather than his words, here they are: Says the girls:

We asked Mr. Rove if he would consider taking a fresh look at the science of global warming.

Says Rove:

Much to our dismay, he immediately got combative. And it went downhill from there.

Says the girls:

After reminding Rove that the US leads the world in global warming pollution - and that the US does the least about it...

Says Rove:

Anger flaring, Mr. Rove immediately regurgitated the official Administration position on global warming

Says the girls:

We felt compelled to remind him that the research is done and the results are in...

Says Rove:

Mr. Rove exploded with even more venom. Like a spoiled child throwing a tantrum,...

Says the girls:

At some point during his ramblings, we became heartbroken to think that...

Don Imus: Not Nappily Ever After

Don Imus, referred to the Rutgers University women's basketball team as "nappy headed hos" on his April 5th show. He and his producer then used two other demeaning words, but according to Imus, those words were used in a discussion about a Spike Lee movie.

Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are all over this. CBS and MSNBC have suspended the Imus Show for two weeks - saying, according to Capitol Hill Blue:

"Our future relationship with Imus is contingent on his ability to live up to his word,"

I have just a couple of thoughts about this:

1) Sharpton, on his radio show today, called Imus to the pious alter of white American guilt (Sharpton has this alter with him at all times). Imus apologized. One of Sharpton's points to Imus was that such language was disrespectful to his daughters, especially the term "hos." I certainly agree with that. It's an egregious slur against women, but what about Black rap, and White rap? and Hispanic rap? Sharpton is against violent rap music. He has called for a ban on violent rap and gotten no where with it. Using the word "ho," if that is indeed how "whore" is spelled in this culture, is all over the music scene, not to mention the streets. Consider the 2005 Academy Award for Original Song:"It's Hard out Here for a Pimp."

Before moving on, here's the words to this Academy winner (our thanks to the Academy):

Sharpton doesn't like this music. He has made that very clear...but he hasn't gotten anywhere with his objections. No one can make a louder noise than Sharpton...yet the rappers aren't hearing him. He can get Imus suspended for two weeks, but he fails to even call out the names of the very rappers spewing the vilest music - music that is polluting not only the Black community, but the White as well. Sharpton is better than this - when he chooses to be. He passed on calling out specific billionaire rappers and moved on to a White Don Imus.

2) Halle Berry is appearing in a movie now in production "Nappily Ever After." Berry's character shaves her head after a relationship break-up. The movie, based on the novel of the same name, evidently portrays the protaganist as insecure about her nappy mane. The story belies the title: Nappily Ever After, evidently,"not" so nappily happy.

Sharpton told Imus that the word "nappy" is racial. Our hair is what it is. It's either straight, straight as a stick, curly, corkscrewy curley, nappy or whatever. It is what it is. I recently heard that having red hair is a sign having a defective gene. Redheads are often called carrot tops. Blondes are considered dim. Imus wears a hat most days. It's easier. Get out of bed, skip the brush, grab the hat and be a big star. It's just hair.

I think Don Imus' words were rude and disgusting. I think Rosie O'Donnell is rude and disgusting...so many in the public eye are rude and disgusting. The song above is rude and disgusting (I wonder if "snow bunny" refers to a White woman? - and if so, just what does snow bunny mean?). We accept rude and unacceptable behavior from our children. We allow youth gangs. We don't have to, but we do. We accept fifth graders having sex in school when the teacher leaves the room, and other students watch. My gosh! We allow the ACLU to defend NAMBLA. The Black community allows the use of "hos." The list is endless.

I do not think the Don Imus Show should be suspended, if for no other reason than Sharpton called for it. I really wish that Imus had been "Imus" and issued his apology from his own show. Forget Sharpton. He's a power monger - much of his career made on the backs of his followers who misdeeds conveniently get Al in front of a camera.

If CBS and MSNBC want Imus gone, that's fine. We all have a boss at sometime in our life. Rosie should be gone, in my opinion, but I respect her right to be there, her boss' right to keep her there, and my right to tune out. We need to tune out. We don't need Al Sharpton scolding our morals.

Tuesday's Victory and Freedom Blog List

There's much great content by Conservative bloggers, but so little time to read. I'm referencing, today, a few pieces that I feel are especially pertinent to our American freedoms and our victories. If you haven't gotten to them, I'm providing the link. If you have already read them, then I'll compile a nice little list for easy reference for myself.

1) The Signaleer profiles National Guard: Who are We? RTO Trainer takes on a syndicated editorialist who refers to some reports out of Iraq as "the daily slaughter," and then goes on to mention "the apparent lack of professional troops...". RTO Trainer slices through the column with honest dialogue and an obvious well of knowledge. This is an article to file under "meaty-Patriotism". Referring the National Guard, here is a small snippet of RTO Trainer's words:

"The policy has worked, precisely as billed and precisely as designed. So, despite the natural wish of the public to keep us safe, that desire is at odds not only with the job description, part-time or not, but also with the assigned task. Just as you would not prevent the police officer from responding to an armed disturbance or a firefighter from walking into a burning building, don't try to prevent us from completing our job. Far more importantly, don't give us a job to do and then repent at your leisure (it is not our leisure) as to its necessity".

I love this article, and am humbled by it.

2) The Amboy Times (whose moniker states: “articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy"), puts up The List of Things That Offend Muslims. This article links the reader to real examples throughout the world: offense at the English Flag (being flown in in England), The new Apple Store in Manhattan, it is offensive to Muslims - and you won't believe why, The Cross, The Bible, movies, and even food. This article is pertinent to Victory and Freedom because, as The Amboy Times says:

"The West needs to come to grips with this fact and start standing up for our God-given rights of free speech, free expression and freedom of religion, lest we surrender those rights to a theocratic movement bent on removing our Constitutional freedoms that we hold dear. In this case, our tolerance will lead to intolerance".

If I understand correctly, "this list is a work in progress". Check it out - you will be amazed, as well as appalled.

3) Wake up America reports on the plans of America's Veterans to be present at the "leftist activists" march on Washington, D.C. on March 17th. Wake up America leads into this information with this:

"I've said a time or two (or more) in the past that the veterans of our nations armed forces will not sit by silently and let our younger brothers and sisters currently bearing arms be the subject of ridicule and harrassment by a group of people who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground".

The high-profile names of the "leftist activists" tells you where this story is going:

"The group, led by Cindy Sheehan, Jane Fonda, Ramsey Clark and their ilk, plan to gather March 17 at the Vietnam Memorial Wall to begin a march to protest America's involvement in the Iraq war. The date marks the fourth anniversary of the war's beginning."

Then this quote from a veteran and member of The Gathering of Eagles who is Calling all Eagles.

"The anti-war/anti-America group cannot be allowed to use the Vietnam Memorial Wall as a back-drop to their anti-America venom and stain the hallowed ground that virtually cries out with blood at the thought of this proposed desecration ... it must not happen," said veteran Bud Gross. "… All Americans are invited to support our effort, which is intended as a defender of hallowed ground and intended as a non-violent competition between those that would sell out America and those of us who support freedom and keeping the fight with the enemy on distant shores."

Don Imus Confused by O'Reilly's Troop Support

The Fairness Doctrine at work: See the Imus video at Hot Air Don Imus this morning calls Fox News' Bill O'Reilly a "disgrace" and an SOB. He's amazed that O'Reilly is giving away free books to soldiers fighting the War on Terror. For every copy of O'Reilly's Culture Warrior you or I buy, a free book is sent to a soldier. Imus doesn't get this charitable act. While Imus doesn't explain why he is outraged about "books for soldiers," we can assume some or all of the following: 1) he thinks O'Reilly's book will brainwash the troops, 2) he thinks O'Reilly is putting more-liberal-thought at risk, and 3) he believes any support for the troops is also support for the Bush administration and a win for this country. Of course, the result of Imus' rant will be increased sales for O'Reilly's book, and more free books for the military. That's the self-imposed Fairness Doctrine at work for you and me. BTW, Imus refers to O'Reilly's show, The Factor, as a "fah LAW-fall" or some such - we can see why Imus hasn't written any books lately. Speaker Nancy Pelosi in an Interview with Diane Sawyer

The Speaker's words:" The president knows that because the troops are in harm's way, that we won't cut off the resources. That's why he's moving so quickly to put them in harm's way," Pelosi said on ABC's "Good Morning America." When asked whether she thought the president manipulated the deployments to avoid congressional action, Pelosi said she hoped he did not but thought "he could have told us about it sooner. ... We found out about it as the troops were going in." My thoughts: In December, it was urgently reported that the President would reveal his new Iraq strategy before the end of the year. It was suspected that there would be increased troops sent to Iraq in the near future - then, the "reveal" date changed to January, and so there were a couple of more weeks to speculate. Everyone knew! I think that no matter how you feel about the troop-increase, Speaker Pelosi's assertions: "...moving quickly to put them in harm's way..." is outrageous (no matter who the U.S. President may be) and "...he could have told us about it sooner..." is without validity.
