Rush Limbaugh on Obama's Victory in Iraq Video

Speaking to a group of Veterans this week, Obama said there were patriots for the war, and patriots against the war, but there has been no daylight between either side on the support of the troops. Limbaugh sets the record straight.

"Watch Rush on video-cam as he goes back in time and exposes Obama's hypocrisy. Read more at The Daily Caller.

Thomas Bruso Bus Brawl: Vietnam Tom 67 Defends Against Racist Felon: Epic Beard Man is Thomas Bruso?

I have two videos here. The first is some raw footage of a fight on an Oakland AC transit bus. I was not   entirely clear about "shining shoes," - didn't want to put it up until I understood what was going on. I made a routine visit to Bunni's at Amusing Bunni's Musings and found an interview with Thomas Bruso, a 67-year-old Vietnam vet, who defended himself on the city bus, against a younger man, a felon (according to Tom) who thought because Vietnam Tom had a full white beard, and looked vulnerable, he could do some bullying.

Watch the first video of Mr. Bruso defending himself, and then watch the second video interview with him and hear his story. God bless this man who tried to defuse, and when that didn't work, he refused to be intimidated by a punk.

Thanks to my 'other little brother' who sent the first video and to TrueCrimeReport.

By the way, there's interesting stuff going around about Mr. Brusco - who may be the bearer of the name Epic Beard Man. Google his name and click around or click here, but I'm giving you a strong language warning and more! This is not the first time Bruso has been on camera.

Veterans Day Tulsa Oklahoma: Tulsa - Fifth Largest Veterans Day Parade

My hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma boasts the 5th largest Veterans Day parade in the U.S. Isn't that something for a city ranking 46th in the U.S. by population? Please scroll down for current posts through the remainder of Veterans Day.

Tulsa, Oklahoma

Three veterans will lead today's parade in downtown Tulsa:

Parade Grand Marshall Paul Andert

Parade Chief of Staff Sam Childers

Parade Commander William Beal

On this day in 1918, World War I ended on the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11 hour. Veterans Day honors all U.S. Military veterans who have served, and are serving, our country.

On this day in 1921, The Tomb of the Unknowns was dedicated at Arlington Cemetary.

Tomb of the Unknowns - Veterans Day

On this day in 1996, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund launched "The Wall that Heals." This half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial travels through communities, "Bringing the Wall Home" to communities where families and friends can visit "in the peace and comfort of familiar surroundings."

USS Oklahoma

The USS Oklahoma was the 37th battleship commissioned by the U.S. Navy. She moved to Pearl Harbor in October 1936. On December 5, 1941 she moored there with six other war ships at "Battleship Row."  At 7:56 a.m. on December 7th, 1941 she was torpedoed and sunk within 12 minutes.

Okies on the USS Oklahoma

To the crew, she was affectionately know as "The Okie." A battleship was a small town gone to sea, her inhabitants mostly young and far from home.
One crewmember, USS Oklahoma survivor and author, Stephen Bower Young, wrote: "Despite the passage of time, it seems like yesterday. My mind sees clearly the shipmates I knew so well as they emerged, laughing and talking from a hatch, portside, main deck, aft, of the Oklahoma.
It is a time for morning quarters for muster, and at the urging of their petty officers, the white-uniformed sailors good-naturedly form into double ranks. They stand at ease...squaring round hats over suntanned faces...their talk is animated and they turn in my direction. Then a cloud grows darker and I see those certain few less clearly."

The Korean War, which continues today, is sometimes known as the "forgotten war."

33,741 US Dead

23,615 Killed In Action

92,134 US Wounded

4,820 US Missing In Action (Declared Dead)

7,245 Prisoners Of War

2,847 Died in POW Camp

389 POWs known to have been alive after all U.S. POWs supposedly returned.

The lightly wounded, and released back to duty are not included in these figures.

On this day in 1620, the Mayflower Compact was signed. The first colonists leading the way to America, as we know it today, signed a governing document for Plymouth Colony. The colonists crossed the Atlantic Ocean aboard the Mayflower. At least half of those were Christians, seeking the freedom to practice Christianity, without the tyrannical direction of the the King James. The Compact clearly established that the Colony would be free of English law. "It was devised to set up a government from within themselves and was written by those to be governed." The compact began "In the name of God, Amen."
When creating the Mayflower Compact, the signers believed that covenants were not only to be honored between God and man, but also between each other. They had always honored covenants as part of their righteous integrity and agreed to be bound by this same principle with the Compact. John Adams and many historians have referred to the Mayflower Compact as the foundation of the U.S. Constitution written more than 150 later.

America was indeed begun by men who honored God and set their founding principles by the words of the Bible. They lived their lives with honesty, reliability, and fairness toward establishing this country “for the sake of its survival.” A great many of America’s Founding Fathers have been quoted in regard to living by Biblical values.
On this day of honoring, remembering, and memorializing our veterans, it is good to remember that our military consists of many religious and non-religious beliefs - but always, our wars have been about liberation, never about occupation, never about confiscation. On this day, I remember my father, who served in WWII and two brothers who served in the U.S. Air Force and I am praying God's blessing on all who have served and are serving. The Veterans Day parade in Tulsa, Oklahoma has just begun.

Veteran End of Life Questions: Vets Referred to Hemlock Society (Video)

Today on the news, the "Veteran Death Book" dominates. The Wall Street Journal put the information out there, with an article by Jim Towey. In the video below, you will hear a full discussion of the Death Book between Towey and Chris Wallace, and then Veterans Administration Secretary Tammy Duckworth and Wallace.

Tammy Duckworth - Veteran End of Life Questions

The controversy revolves around the book Your Life Your Choices. At one point it asks the question "What makes your life worth living?" You'll see the questions below but if you fit a certain category, you are referred to the Hemlock Society, with it's newly renamed moniker, Compassion and Choices. It is the only organization Veterans are referred to. Along with the excellent discussion below, and Towey's WSJ article, Kimberly Morin of the Boston Conservative Independent Examiner has some of the best commentary I've seen today. Cutting to the chase before you watch the video, Morin downloaded 'Your Life, Your Choices' (the Veteran's Death Book) and here is a portion from from her article:
...there is a check list in the middle of the document that specifically asks questions about "What makes your life worth living?”. It is a checklist that doesn’t just include needing a feeding tube or being on permanent life support, the questions are absolutely, in my opinion, insane. These questions are being asked to all Veterans receiving treatment, including 20 year olds who have been severely wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan.
I have listed all of the questions below so you can see for yourself:
a. I can no longer walk but get around in a wheelchair.
b. I can no longer get outside—I spend all day at home.
c. I can no longer contribute to my family's well being.
d. I am in severe pain most of the time.
e. I have severe discomfort most of the time (such as nausea, diarrhea, or shortness of breath).
f. I rely on a feeding tube to keep me alive.
g. I rely on a kidney dialysis machine to keep me alive.
h. I rely on a breathing machine to keep me alive.
i. I need someone to help take care of me all of time.
j. I can no longer control my bladder.
k. I can no longer control my bowels.
l. I live in a nursing home.
m. I can no longer think clearly-I am confused all the time.
n. I can no longer recognize family/friends
o. I can no longer talk and be understood by others.
p. My situation causes severe emotional burden for my family (such as feeling worried or stressed all the time).
q. I am a severe financial burden on my family.
r. I cannot seem to “shake the blues.”
These questions are followed by the questions below:
“If you checked "worth living, but just barely" for more than one factor, would a combination of these factors make your life "not worth living?" If so, which factors?
If you checked "not worth living," does this mean that you would rather die than be kept alive?
If you checked "can't answer now," what information or people do you need to help you decide?”
What the hell kind of questions are these to be asking Veterans who have just risked their lives to keep America safe from terrorists? What kind of person would ask a 20 year old quadriplegic if they would rather die than be in a wheelchair or a burden to his/her family or if they have the blues?

Of course they would have the blues in this case and of course no one wants to be in a wheelchair and of course no one wants to be a burden on their family but to suggest to a Veteran that these answers possibly mean they would ‘rather die than be kept alive’ is atrocious, outrageous, disgusting, immoral, unethical and one of the most un-American things I have ever read in my entire life.

Tammy Duckworth, Assistant Secretary of Veterans Affairs appears in the second half of the video. Duckworth, a severly injured Iraq war aviator, tells Wallace the book is not available to veterans. Wallace points out that it has been available until this week. She denies it. Wallace has a screen grab to prove it. Wallace reads the following to Duckworth as content currently on the VA website:
In the VHA directive of July 2nd, 2009, it says the following on page 8, "Primary care practitioners are responsible for giving patients pertinent educational materials, e.g. refer patients to the 'Your Life, Your Choices' module." I mean, it's just there in black and white on the VHA directive of July 2nd.
Secretary Duckworth continues to deny it. Transcript of Wallace-Towey-Duckworth discussion here or in the video below:

AMERICAN LEGION: An Open Letter to Homeland Security on ‘Rightwing Extremists’

By Findalis

Created in 1919, The American Legion has been on the forefront in the battle of rights for US Veterans and their families. The Legion has been responsible for passage of such notable bills such as: The GI Bill, which sent thousands of veterans returning home from World War II, Korea, and Viet Nam to college, helped millions of veterans buy affordable homes, start businesses, etc...

Needless to say, the American Legion is not, nor has it ever been, a terrorist organization. Until now and the Obama administration's insistence that all groups on the right of their ideology are terror groups. Dave Rehbein, the National Commander of the Legion disagrees:

Secretary Janet Napolitano Department of Homeland Security U.S. Department of Homeland Security Washington, DC 20528 April 13, 2009 Dear Secretary Napolitano, On behalf of the 2.6 million-member American Legion, I am stating my concern about your April 7 report, "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence and Recruitment."
First, I want to assure you that The American Legion has long shared your concern about white supremacist and anti-government groups. In 1923, when the Ku Klux Klan still yielded unspeakable influence in this country, The American Legion passed Resolution 407. It resolved, in part, "...we consider any individual, group of individuals or organizations, which creates, or fosters racial, religious or class strife among our people, or which takes into their own hands the enforcement of law, determination of guilt, or infliction of punishment, to be un-American, a menace to our liberties, and destructive to our fundamental law..."
The best that I can say about your recent report is that it is incomplete. The report states, without any statistical evidence, "The possible passage of new restrictions on firearms and the return of military veterans facing significant challenges reintegrating into their communities could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks."
The American Legion is well aware and horrified at the pain inflicted during the Oklahoma City bombing, but Timothy McVeigh was only one of more than 42 million veterans who have worn this nation's uniform during wartime. To continue to use McVeigh as an example of the stereotypical "disgruntled military veteran" is as unfair as using Osama bin Laden as the sole example of Islam. Your report states that "Rightwing extremists were concerned during the 1990s with the perception that illegal immigrants were taking away American jobs through their willingness to work at significantly lower wages."
Secretary Napolitano, this is more than a perception to those who have lost their job. Would you categorize union members as "Right Wing extremists"? In spite of this incomplete, and, I fear, politically-biased report, The American Legion and the Department of Homeland Security share many common and crucial interests, such as the Citizen Corps and disaster preparedness. Since you are a graduate of New Mexico Girls State, I trust that you are very familiar with The American Legion. I would be happy to meet with you at a time of mutual convenience to discuss issues such as border security and the war on terrorism. I think it is important for all of us to remember that Americans are not the enemy. The terrorists are. Sincerely, David K. Rehbein National Commander The American Legion
Dave Rehbein
It is too bad that these words will be falling on deaf ears. To the Obama Administration, any one who doesn't fall in lock step behind him, must be eliminated, ridiculed and destroyed.
Well said Commander Rehbein, well said!

Absurd Glimpses of Memorial Day 2007

Trackback URL for this entry: http://haloscan.com/tb/maggiesnotebook/7894576617828379820 So why look at the "absurd" and "disrespectful" on this Day set aside to honor valor and sacrifice? We need to know what these people are up to. Winston Churchill said "When the eagles are silent the parrots begin to jabber." Churchill also said: "Danger - if you meet it promptly and without flinching - you will reduce the danger by half. Never run away from anything. Never!" The parrots are screeching. It's time to stop flinching - meet them head-on and let this jabbering minority know that it will not take away our beloved traditions in the name of civil liberty. Here's the absurd. A few quotes have been snatched from each below, (in context) but a link is provided to the original. Watchdog group protests military participation in Memorial Day activities from examiner.com:

Stone Mountain Park's Memorial Day weekend festivities are being criticized by a watchdog group for religious freedom that says the patriotic event also promotes Christianity. ...Americans United called for the military to make clear to the public that the weekend is not an official military event, to ensure that military events are not integrated into worship services or other religious activity, and to ensure that active-duty military personnel maintain compliance with constitutional requirements.
Memorial Day: Hijacked from WorldNetDaily by Robert Knight:
"...Sen. John Edwards, whose website supportthetroopsendthewar.com is urging people to crash Memorial Day ceremonies and parades with anti-war protests. He's even asking people to take pictures of it all and post them to his website. What nifty souvenirs! We're still waiting for the media outrage over this hijacking of a sacred day to honor the war dead. Can you imagine being a U.S. Marine and going out today on a mission in Fallujah, Iraq, searching for the killers in the latest civilian massacre,..."
Dishonoring the dead: No Memorial Day protests from UnionLeader.com:
Edwards urged Americans to use Memorial Day to protest the war in Iraq. Meanwhile, anti-war protesters across the country are planning to take Edwards' advice and turn out at Memorial Day parades tomorrow to protest the war, thus insulting the sacrifices of all who lost their lives and their innocence in the swirling desert sands of Iraq.
Edwards Calls for Protests on Memorial Day??!!?? from Wake up America:
While in the Senate, Edwards Voted YES on authorizing air strikes in Kosovo. (Mar 1999), Voted YES on allowing all necessary force in Kosovo. (May 1999), Voted YES on authorizing use of military force against Iraq. (Oct 2002) and Voted NO on $86 billion for military operations in Iraq & Afghanistan. (Oct 2003).
ACLU condemned for 'attacking' veterans memorials during time of war from OneNewsNow:
"The American Legion has announced that it is teaming up with the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) and Liberty Legal Institute in a campaign to fight ACLU efforts to remove religious symbols from war memorials. The ACLU has already filed suit to remove crosses at veterans' memorials, like the Mt. Soledad cross in San Diego and the Sunrise Rock cross in the Mojave Desert, which is now covered by a box. "Let us see this claim for exactly what it is," Infranco continued. "These individuals assert that their being offended should override the public's desire to honor veterans as we have since the founding of our nation," he said.
Veterans go to battle for memorials from WorldNet Daily:
The American Legion and the Alliance Defense Fund will mark Memorial Day 2007 observances by launching a nationwide Defense of Veterans Memorials Project to fight secular attacks by the American Civil Liberties Union, atheists and others against veterans memorials – as exemplified by lawsuits against the Mt. Soledad National War Memorial in San Diego and the Mojave Desert Veterans Memorial. The American Legion, the largest wartime veterans organization in the world with 2.7million members in 15,000 posts, and the Alliance Defense Fund, believed to be the largest public interest legal firm defending freedom of religion with some 1,000 pro bono attorneys, are to formally announce and detail the Defense of Veterans Memorials Project
ACLU Observers Will Monitor Miami Beach Police During Holiday from NBC6.net South Florida:
The president of the Greater Miami ACLU chapter said the organization was concerned about the number of arrests made on the beach last Memorial Day weekend. The ACLU and NAACP have criticized Miami Beach police for "overzealous" DUI arrests.

Gold Star and Blue Star Families Need Your Signature

Wake Up America is alerting us to a petition that we have the opportunity to sign at Families United for Our Troops and Their Mission. Families United, according to their website, is

"...a non-profit...grassroots coalition of Gold Star families, veterans, families with loved ones in harm's way, and Americans who share a deep appreciation for our men and women in uniform and support them in their efforts to make America safer by winning the War On Terror.
Below is the text of the petition (click here to sign) that Families United is asking us to affirm with our signature:
Whereas, we understand the War in Iraq is a necessary and just effort to bring stability to the Middle East and protect America from further attack; and Whereas, we believe that victory can and will be achieved by U.S. and Iraqi forces fighting together for liberty and democracy in Iraq; and Whereas, we believe all Americans should be united in our gratitude and appreciation to our military men and women for the risks and sacrifices they endure in the protection of our liberty and unalienable rights;Whereas, there exists amongst the citizens of the United States, disagreement regarding the appropriateness of the war on terror being waged in Iraq; and Whereas, as Americans, we recognize that voicing these divergent views is guaranteed and protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution, granting Freedom of Speech; and Whereas, we further understand that these views have been appropriately voiced and debated by our Congressional Representatives; now Therefore be it resolved We the under-signed are indicating in the strongest of terms that we stand proudly in support of our men and women who are fighting to defend our nation and Liberty and Democracy in Iraq; that we believe victory can and will be achieved by U.S. and Iraqi forces; and we strongly oppose the efforts by some to harshly criticize and undermine the mission of our military engaged in the field -- heightening the danger that our fighting forces face on a daily basis; and We stand with our men and women in the military to ensure that they and their families receive the support and respect they deserve here at home, and furthermore we support legislative efforts to improve the level of support for military and their families, especially those killed or injured while in action.
Take a look at No. 3; surely none of us will disagree with this powerful statement. Support these families, their loved ones and our U.S. Military.

Tuesday's Victory and Freedom Blog List

Welcome to Wednesday's Open Trackback and Linkfest Haven Deluxe
.
For details, see the end of this article

There's much great content by Conservative bloggers, but so little time to read. I'm referencing, today, a few pieces that I feel are especially pertinent to our American freedoms and our victories. If you haven't gotten to them, I'm providing the link. If you have already read them, then I'll compile a nice little list for easy reference for myself.

1) The Signaleer profiles National Guard: Who are We? RTO Trainer takes on a syndicated editorialist who refers to some reports out of Iraq as "the daily slaughter," and then goes on to mention "the apparent lack of professional troops...". RTO Trainer slices through the column with honest dialogue and an obvious well of knowledge. This is an article to file under "meaty-Patriotism". Referring the National Guard, here is a small snippet of RTO Trainer's words:
"The policy has worked, precisely as billed and precisely as designed. So, despite the natural wish of the public to keep us safe, that desire is at odds not only with the job description, part-time or not, but also with the assigned task. Just as you would not prevent the police officer from responding to an armed disturbance or a firefighter from walking into a burning building, don't try to prevent us from completing our job. Far more importantly, don't give us a job to do and then repent at your leisure (it is not our leisure) as to its necessity".
I love this article, and am humbled by it.

2) The Amboy Times (whose moniker states: “articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy"), puts up The List of Things That Offend Muslims. This article links the reader to real examples throughout the world: offense at the English Flag (being flown in in England), The new Apple Store in Manhattan, it is offensive to Muslims - and you won't believe why, The Cross, The Bible, movies, and even food. This article is pertinent to Victory and Freedom because, as The Amboy Times says:
"The West needs to come to grips with this fact and start standing up for our God-given rights of free speech, free expression and freedom of religion, lest we surrender those rights to a theocratic movement bent on removing our Constitutional freedoms that we hold dear. In this case, our tolerance will lead to intolerance".
If I understand correctly, "this list is a work in progress". Check it out - you will be amazed, as well as appalled.

3) Wake up America reports on the plans of America's Veterans to be present at the "leftist activists" march on Washington, D.C. on March 17th. Wake up America leads into this information with this:
"I've said a time or two (or more) in the past that the veterans of our nations armed forces will not sit by silently and let our younger brothers and sisters currently bearing arms be the subject of ridicule and harrassment by a group of people who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground".
The high-profile names of the "leftist activists" tells you where this story is going:
"The group, led by Cindy Sheehan, Jane Fonda, Ramsey Clark and their ilk, plan to gather March 17 at the Vietnam Memorial Wall to begin a march to protest America's involvement in the Iraq war. The date marks the fourth anniversary of the war's beginning."
Then this quote from a veteran and member of The Gathering of Eagles who is Calling all Eagles.
"The anti-war/anti-America group cannot be allowed to use the Vietnam Memorial Wall as a back-drop to their anti-America venom and stain the hallowed ground that virtually cries out with blood at the thought of this proposed desecration ... it must not happen," said veteran Bud Gross. "… All Americans are invited to support our effort, which is intended as a defender of hallowed ground and intended as a non-violent competition between those that would sell out America and those of us who support freedom and keeping the fight with the enemy on distant shores."
There is much more information, including a list of contributors, both monetary and those who will lend their fame(Maxine Waters, for one) to the "Leftist activists" at Wake up America, including the latest updates on the Veteran's counter-protest. March 17 is just a month away.
