Andrew Romanoff Jim Messina: Romanoff Produces Messina Emails with Job Offers

Reports tonight that Andrew Romanoff, the former speaker of the the Colorado House of Representatives, and vying for the U.S. Senate against Obama favorite, incumbent Senator Michael Bennet - released an email from Jim Messina that Romanoff says is proof the administration offered him jobs in return for his withdrawal from the Senate race. Messina is Obama's Deputy Chief of Staff for Operation.

Romanoff also released what he said was an e-mail from White House deputy chief of staff Jim Messina outlining three possible jobs -- deputy assistant administrator for Latin America and Caribbean for the U.S. Agency for International Development; director of the Office of Democracy and Governance at USAID; and director of the U.S. Trade and Development Agency – he could have if he didn’t run.

Romanoff did not accept of the offers. Obama is still supporting Michael Bennet.

The White House did not comment. The statement comes as the White House attempts to distance itself from the controversy stemming from attempts – also unsuccessful – to convince Rep. Joe Sestak, D-Pa., to not challenge Sen. Arlen Specter, D-Pa., in the Pennsylvania primary. Sestak ultimately defeated Specter.

The White House and Rep. Joe Sestak (D-PA) are spinning their stories, and hoping they both say the same thing. For months, Sestak claimed to the Press that the White House had offered him a job to bow out of the U.S. Senate race primary against Republican defector, Arlen Specter (D-PA). Sestak was a bit hot about it all and started talking. As Republicans persued the story, which appeared to point to felonies by either the White House or Sestak, both parties began talking - and what they are saying doesn't make sense. Now Romanoff is showing that this White House is actively involved in tampering with our election processes.
